Came here looking for a Portuguese Salt but unfortunately I didn't find it here. Not sure if they are out of stock. They have various selections of food and veggies so basically groceries. Though they are on the pricey side, they are all organic so I am assuming that's the reason why. Check out is pretty smooth and cashiers are friendly for the most part when I go there. The place have a good amount of space but It can be packaged during rush hour. I come here from time to time to check the place out so I am sure we will be back at some point read more

So here is the scam. I bought Trader Joes sliced almonds a month ago for $4.29 last month 8 oz . Went back to get more a couple of times no problem. I go back in the last couple of weeks and they don't have them. I ask the clerk she looks it up-saying no they discontinued them in 2022? They must be old. Huh? No I have been buying them in the last few months-no look she says it says discontinued in 2022. Well, I get home, I still have the package of almonds from three weeks ago-that I bought there. He is the issue- they pulled this same pack of almonds off the shelf because they were so popular-online same 8 0z package selling on Trader Joe's website for $9.99. They have doubled their price and will keep them from the shelves and will reintroduce them at this outrageous price. Talk about a rip off-I won't buy from them again-most of the food is very unhealthy anyway. These stores are robbing the consumer. read more

Employees are very nice and helpful. Store is clean and items well stocked. They do t have everything g a regular grocery store would have but they have a different range of products. Flowers are beautiful and well priced. I'm Always amazed at how reasonable My bill is when checked out. read more

Where does one begin? Yes, it's a tad bit expensive but worth it. Walking through Trader Joe's in Saugus feels lik e a Cambridge, Weston, Newton, etc. I don't care if you are sampling, shopping, chatting with any of the employees or people shopping, you feel welcomed. read more

If anyone understands COVID FATIGUE it's my employees and I. As the owner (and employee) of a service business we juggle the BS daily since reopening, while managing to stay polite and understanding. People arguing about masks, new policies, new systems, social distancing, etc. I know it's TIRING and the willful ignorance is seriously uncalled for. With that said..... I haven't visited TJ's in over a year. Once COVID hit it was impossible to get into any of the locations so we stopped going until things started to get under some semblance of control. Tonight I was thrilled to return. Everything looked and seemed back to some kind of normal. I saw people walking up to the registers to pay so, I did what I thought we were supposed to do and stood 6' behind the gentleman in front of me. When his order was processed the cashier signaled over to some people standing a way behind me - and I was confused. No one said anything but the people walked in front of me. The cashier looked disgustedly at me and just pointed behind me. He didn't say a damn word. I happened to look up in the direction he pointed and dangling a foot from the ceiling a sign directed shoppers to that aisle to get into line for check out. I felt *awful* and apologized *profusely* and scurried to the back of the line. I had NO idea. (Helpful hint from someone who's worked with sign makers and in promotions - signs that require attention should be attention getting and within sight. Not just quirky and humorous. -One- blue [not visually "grabbing"] sign up by the ceiling doesn't help unless your customers are looking up the majority of the time.) When it was my time to check out the cashier pulled out a shelf and just looked at me. I cautiously asked if I could go and he gestured to come over and place my basket down - which I did. I went to stand behind the plexiglass, as one does, and he said, "Step back." I again was confused so I obeyed and took a few steps backward and he said a bit louder "Further, to the box on the floor." I quickly walked backward into the square painted on the floor that I thought was where you were to wait until it was your turn to initially approach. I felt _incredibly_ awkward. No one took a second to be even the slightest bit "helpful" - but barked at me. I nervously chuckled saying I was sorry (again) and that I was unfamiliar with all the new changes because all stores are so different and I hadn't been in a TJ's for over a year. His reply, "Well it's been this way for that long." -AS IF I KNEW-. The sarcasm was a nice insult to add to my embarrassment. Thanks. By this point I was *really* put off - and feeling foolish - I saw that other customers were up by the cashiers while their orders were being processed, as had the people who went before me. I stood there compliantly feeling like an a$$hole on "time out" while others proceeded as normal. When it was time to pay I was hesitant to proceed forward lest I f*ck up another time. Was there a particular new protocol to follow to pay? I was actually relieved when the extremely awkward process was over. I politely said "thank you" and it wasn't until I said "good night" that he responded in kind. Not even a look in the eye. What am I? A leper? Thinking back to how I was initially "directed" by the first cashier I should have just left my basket right there on the floor - socially distanced , of course - and walked the f*ck out. I haven't left a review in a long time and it takes a lot to push me to negatively review something but this was hugely embarrassing and incredibly rude. I've never had such an uncomfortable interaction with TJ's employees and some of them have even become MY clients. I would NEVER treat anyone - a stranger or a client - as I was treated tonight. I was obviously not informed, clearly embarrassed, and extremely apologetic. Thanks for exacerbating an already awkward situation, I appreciate it. No. Really. I like going to Trader Joe's because it is not your traditional grocery store. The feel is different, the set up is vibrant and they always have different items. The prices are low. I saw lot of products for health conscious folks. Staff is very friendly and helpful. While writing this review, I just realized that all Trader Joe's locations that I have visited until now have good parking space. That's another plus! read more

I can't begin to say how kind every employee was just upon entering the store. From the greeters outside to the cashiers inside. One cashier stood out in general tonight, in the best of ways. I was just talking about dealing with Covid, and being a cancer survivor how weary I am about shopping but love Trader Joe's. Well, the cashier, Mike almost made me cry. He asked me what my favorite flower was and walked me over to the flower section and asked me to choose one. It really touched my heart. I have a toddler son, and I hope one day I raise him to be as sweet and caring as Mike was. I was really touched by such a sweet gesture and it just made my night. read more

My favorite location by far. It's rarely mobbed. The staff is exceptional, like they deserve a raise exceptional. I save a lot of money getting frozen gluten free entrees instead of ordering out. I eat strictly vegetarian and gluten-free but the options are here are plentiful. The cheese prices are often a steal compared to most other options. This is a nice Trader Joe's. The store appears to be larger with excellent parking than the one where I usually shop. As big as it is, I was able to purchase the items I came in for without a lot of navigation. I usually buy a packed lettuce combo that's a favorite of mine. They had it & it looked fresh. So, in the basket it went.. My other staple is a broccoli slaw that I absolutely love. Again, fresh & looking great. I couldn't resist an interesting package of mixed grape & cherry tomatoes. They were calling me & I admit to digging into the package on the drive home ..very delicious : - ) I didn't have any interaction with the staff until I checked out. The gentleman who assisted me was nice, but very quiet. Perhaps he was new? I don't do all my shopping at Trader Joe's. The closest store from where I live is more than 10 miles. Now & then I go in for my usual favorites & check out what's new. I find the items I usually purchase to be high quality. The prices for what you're buying on a regular basis are excellent read more

This newer Trader Joe's is really no bigger than the Cambridge store. It has the same great selection of products with the exception of alcoholic beverages (this store carries none). TJ's is always a better value than regular supermarkets. It's a great place to buy healthy snack items such as nuts and dried fruit. The fresh produce section is also filled with great values of high quality fresh fruit and vegetables. There's a lot more to like about Trader Joe's, and once you try them you're sure to make other items you're personal favorites too. The Cambridge store has a bit more "Bohemian energy vibe" (or whatever you call it), but the staff in Saugus is equally friendly and courteous. It's unfortunate that the Swampscott store closed, but I'm glad this new Saugus Trader Joe's opened. read more

I love Trader Joe's. Just not this one. Most stores have a problem with a need to discontinue items and they're usually ones you've fallen in love with and start to look at as a staple in your pantry. I really hate it when I go there and they're out of something I wanted or they have discontinued it. Today was the worst instance of that ever. Let's see. First item was the organic salted crunchy peanut butter. How can you be out of such a popular item. It's BS I tell ya. If they're out, someone isn't doing their job. 2nd item on the list was The Pounder chocolate. The red one. Not only do they keep this in a different place than all the other stores I've been in, forcing me to ask where it is, but they were out of the red one. WTF! Oh, and here's the clincher. NO WINE!!!! Something about a stupid Mass. alcohol law where they are not a selected store. Well Massachusetts, select this! A note to TJ's, especially this one. Just know that if I'm making a special trip to get the aforementioned staples, you'd better have them or I'm automatically going to be in a foul mood by the time I get to the register. This is a great TJ's largely for the fact that you can easily find parking and avoid the lines that you often would experience in Cambridge or Coolidge Corner. No alcohol here, which may be a reason for less foot traffic, but the store is laid out very well which allows for me to enter and exit with a full basket in about five to ten minutes. The one issue is that Route 1 traffic is terrible as expected - especially trying to pull out of the parking lot. The last thing I want to do is tip over the groceries in the trunk - but if you don't speed off you'll get run over. I go here at least once every two weeks and enjoy the experience and the prices. In a bid to kill time on the way to a dinner, we stopped into Trader Joe's to do a little grocery shopping. Since neither my friend nor I normally have a car, it allowed us the rare opportunity to buy more than we could carry home and once and for all proved that all Trader Joe's are not created equal. Perhaps the newness is what lends itself to be cleaner, shinier, more welcoming than most of the TJ's out there. But I could have sworn it was the layout, with wider aisles where you're not squabbling for shopping space with your neighbor. Or maybe it was the people: employees that are so, so much friendlier than other locations. For those who live in the area, you're lucky to have one of the nicest TJ's to shop in for miles, and you'll never get stuck driving around, fighting for a parking space! read more

As usual, I came in looking to buy just 4-5 items. The staples: horseradish hummus, whole wheat bread, 2 cheeses, and maybe a box of chocolate chip cookies for the week. And also being one that never sticks to the plan, I came out with 3 bags full of goodies. OOh Look! Ice cream sandwiches-mango sorbet-mango bars-vanilla wafers-dunkers-veggie buffalo wings-edamame hummus-and another kind of hummus-Stilton cheese-blue cheese-goat cheese-rice crackers-blueberry-raspberry!! Lentil chips-chocolate chips-mint drops-cocoa batons-Morning Stars-cheese crackers!!! Around the corner, there's so so so much more! Pluses for this Trader Joe's- there's no fighting for space! And looking at people making crazy face! Wider aisles. Less people. The only negative- No booze booze. Boo hoo. Well, there's a liquor store down the highway if you really need it. read more

Trader Joe's is our grocery store of choice. We're not TJ fanatics or anything, but we love that it fills a gap between traditional supermarkets and a places like Whole Foods. It's a great place to find and shop for things that are a step away from mass-marketed artificial big box foods but not in the soy-everything fake chocolate kind of way like at Whole Foods. Products at Trader Joe's tend to be more natural and use less artificial ingredients. Not only that, but the prices in a like-for-like setting are almost always lower. Where it breaks down is selection. Produce and almost everything else are fantastic, but at least at this location the meat is nothing to write home about. Not to mention, there are many products they don't carry at all. We do about 75% of our shopping here, and backfill with Whole Foods and Hannaford as needed. Another note here (and for some people this won't matter): there is virtually no local food sold here. Trader Joe's can deliver a great price and selection because of their unique purchasing and distribution system. Because of this, you're never going to find local food like you can at a supermarket or Whole Foods. If you're looking to get away from corn syrup and artificial ingredients but Whole Foods scares you or gives you sticker shock, you should give Trader Joe's a spin.* read more

Love it! Its big enough where you dont have some smelly armpit in your face the whole time. The cashiers are really friendly and they will take the time to help you find something. Other TJs Ive been to lack this service, but i still love them. They have a huge variety of cheeses, frozen foods, dairy (fake too) and so on. Went there for the second time since it opened a couple nights ago. I never went to Trader Joe's much before because I didn't want to venture into town and deal with traffic and lack of parking. This location is great since I live in Malden, I can hop onto Route 1 and get there in about 15 minutes. Like all Trader Joe's, it's a chain but almost feels like a mom and pop market with very friendly employees. I was deciding which kind of salad to get and a guy stocking the shelves asked if I needed help...you'll never see that kind of hospitality at Stop & Shop or Shaws. No booze at this location but it has everything fresh. The shelves are well organized. They have free samples in the back corner for those who want to try something like their pizza. Prices are very reasonable esp with the quality of the foods. This store is definitely a lot less chaotic than the ones in town. Even the cashier dude was nice...just kinda chatting but not overly talking your ear off like some people that need to vent. As many of you know, Route 1 is horrifying to drive and look for stores...cars are going fast, a lot of merging ramps, cars exiting lots making futile efforts to go 0-60mph before other vehicles have to jam on their brakes, etc. Luckily, Border Cafe moved to this plaza recently as well with it's neon EAT sign to make it easier to spot. Once you see the EAT sign, slow down to the right and the entrance is a little tight. Definitely worth a visit for any Trader Joe's fans that are up north and don't want to drive into town. read more

Someplace between Whole Paycheck and Market Casket is Trader Joes. The shop boasts organic and natural low cost groceries. Still, this shopping trip cost me $50 more than my usual $100 food budget. Their frozen fish is amazing and they have lots of different frozen veggies and unique blends. I'm not a fan of the produce which is why it get 4 stars. Everything else though is terrfic and love te sample shop they set up. I even buy flowers here and they last a good week. Good food shopping experience too. This store has big asiles and everyone is helpful. Plenty of places to park. Great store! read more

This relates mostly to flowers. For the second week in a row I've bought flowers here and they have not lasted. I've had fresh flowers in my home for decades, so it's not the care I've given them. The first bunch rotten in a couple of days. Heads just fell off. Second batch - to replace the first - also didn't fare well. Spray roses should last for days. These looked sad on the second day. If I'm buying them for myself I'm disappointed and really mad that I wasted the $$. But if you're buying as a gift...well, obviously I won't be doing that any more at TJs. Their produce is not always the freshest either. If you compare these stores to their California stores - well there is no comparison - but they could certainly do better. read more

Brand spanking new and one of the only Trader Joe's I know of that has ample parking AND plenty of room to move around inside. As always I stocked up on the dirt cheap frozen fish. Their frozen fish is of much better quality than what you'll find in any grocery store (this info from one of my best friends who used to do all the fish buying for Legal Seafoods) and the cheapest Kashi cereal prices I've seen without is being on sale. A few frozen burritos for a quick lunch, and some $2 bags of salad mix and I was good to go. Can't wait to go back! read more

I'm not a frequent shopper of Trader Joe's, but I've found that this one is extremely convenient for me to go and pick up a few things when I'm in a pinch. There is a huge parking lot out front, which is a big plus. The store is kind of small, but it's brightly lit, clean, and has a good enough selection of foods. The best selections I've found were the veggies/fruits and the meats. I've gotten steak tips, pork, burgers, chicken, etc. from here on multiple occasions and they are always fresh, juicy, and delicious. Other supermarket-bought meat just doesn't begin to compare. The best thing I've found here that I will recommend to everyone I know is a marinade made by TJ's called Soyaki sauce. It is absolutely DELICIOUS and will spice up any dish you want. We always have a bottle of this around, and it is an absolute meal-saver! Though I do kind of wish this one sold alcohol (I soon found out that only the one in Cambridge does), I am happy with what they do have. Last night I found frozen sweet potato fries and Alaskan Halibut here. Awesome! The only other Halibut I've seen in any of the stores in the area is Atlantic and Atlantic Halibut blows in comparison to Alaskan Halibut. This in addition to all the other staples I always stock up on here - Gouda, Nuts, Trail Mix, Juice Boxes, Spiced Apple Muffin Mix, Frozen Shrimp, Bacon Wrapped Scallops, Tub of Chocolate Chip cookies, and Beef Jerky. This store gets one star deducted because of the one time I found mold in my hummus and it doesn't have booze. Other then that - no complaints. Will continue to come here once a month for all of eternity! read more

One of my favorite markets, Trader Joes on Route 1 is fantastic! The variety is endless and opened me up to a bunch of staples for my kitchen (Green Drink, hummus, goat cheese, meal bars just to name a few). A breath of fresh air compared to Stop-n-Plop or Whole Paycheck. Another great thing about this Trader Joes is the location. Where else can you go tanning (Solar Eclipse), grab a marg (Border Cafe), and pick up a chicken pot pie (Harrows) after going grocery shopping!? read more

This is such a great store that I drive out of my geographic zone to go here....this is mostly due to a spectacularly friendly staff (esp. to those shopping with the under 5 set!)..there's one gentleman here that simply makes my day with his happy demeanor and kindness to my kids.. The flowers are always lovely and fresh, and there are so many fun seasonal items (pumpkin puree in the fall, advent calendars around the holidays), it's worth a browse.. We do almost 100% of our shopping here when in the area (they don't carry diapers, which is a shame), and find the produce to be pretty good overall (not Whole Foods quality, but not Whole Foods prices either!). The snack and frozen items are outstanding.. For kids: the yogurt squishers, frozen turkey meatballs, and fruit crushers are great! read more

I love to pop into this Trader Joe's usually to grab a quick lunch/dinner...their salads to go are very good for the price, the quality and the nutritional information. My preference is the Greek Salad, however the Southwestern Salad and the Country Italian are also very good. This candy section is great with unique treats like the English Toffee...I could literally eat the entire container it is soooooo yummy!!! I just wish this location carried the Charles Shaw wine like the TJ's on Memorial Drive. "Two Buck Chuck" which is really now "Three Buck Chuck" at $2.99 a bottle is a great deal and oh so delicious. read more

Went here for the first time tonight and I am so impressed at how clean and organized it is, how friendly the staff was, how cheap the fresh fruit is and the huge selection of cheeses, breads, & the like. TJ's is a really great market. For the items they carry, I would give it 5+ stars, but the problem is that it is not a place you can make your only market to shop at because they don't have that great a selection. The best thing I can say about this chain is they have a lot of good priced store brand items and items you won't find anywhere else. read more

When Trader Joes closed the Swampscott location in exchange for this one, I wrote letters, emails and campaigned to maintain the little Swampscott one. Alas, that was unsuccessful and I swore I would never drive all the way to the Saugus for my favorite store. But I did and I do, still weekly. It may not be as conveniently located as I liked, but this store is bigger, and does not get overwhelmingly crowded. For me, it doesn't always have every crazy thing that I need , but it does have all the staples that I need for the week and at a reasonable cost. The staff is absolutely unbeatable. I do think the town of Saugus should just give them a liquor license and the world would be a better place. That would give them five stars in my book. read more

I've shopped here for many years. Even throughout the bad press and food recalls, I am still a loyal customer. There are just some things I can't get anywhere else. And hey, the prices aren't too bad either. This location in particular is a tad smaller then others. There's also less items. But overall the layout and store presentation is pretty much similar. (I prefer the Peabody location for the wine!) Easy to find, located of RT 1. The only negative is getting out of the parking lot, back on to the highway, kind of scary!
