This is the place I head to for some healthy food. They have a good selection of organic items and healthy snacks. I made a quick run to TJ's to buy frozen pizza, and here was the conversation between me and the cashier. Guy:"Do you need help on making the pizza?" *wink* Me: "No, I know how to read the directions on the back of the box. I'm not illiterate." Guy: "Just in case -- don't overcook it." Me: "I won't. I won't undercook or overcook it. I'll just COOK it." Turned out, I undercooked the pizza.. :P But that just made my shopping experience a little more -- interesting. :) This TJ's location does justice. I've only shopped here during non-peak hours so I don't know how crazy the parking gets -- I'm sure it's never as crazy as the Wal-mart nearby! So. Trader Joe's. It's great for basics, freezer meals, and snacks. But if you plan to bake something other than chocolate chip cookies, go elsewhere. Things I have gone to TJ's to purchase, but instead left empty handed (because they simply don't carry it): molasses, unflavored gelatin, and light corn syrup. Otherwise, this location is a pretty standard Trader Joe's. It is, however, spitting distance from Milk Pail Market, Whole Foods, Safeway, and Target/Walmart. They're all on the same block, so choose wisely! read more

Gotta love the store. When you are here you feel perfectly at ease. I have been having trouble locating chocolate covered cherries at all of the Sprout's and Trader Joe's carries these gorgeous chocolate covered Bing cherries in these small plastic tubs. They are packaged in 14 oz containers for less than $6 which is a better deal than getting at Sprout's for $8.99 a pound. So happy and amazingly good! The location is also less crazy than the one in Sunnyvale and San Jose. read more

Trader Joe's is awesome! You're not going to find everything here that you would at an Albertsons or something. But, what you will find here is a vast selection of edibles from all over the world. The middle section of the store is my favorite. It has all the frozen food But located above those freezers are shelves of endless goodies that not even a sweets lover like myself could ever handle! They are from all over the world and you would never find this stuff at your average grocer. Not only on the shelves, but also in the freezer where you can find delicious cakes, pies, and pastries. They also have a little dried fruit and nuts section. They have this thing called Banana CRISPS (not chips) that are totally out of this world. They are the perfect healthy snack! I also get various types of roasted nuts in this aisle for all my baking needs. To top it off, they have the infamous Two Buck Chuck here. Different types of bottled wine for only $2. I know what you're thinking, cheap booze. Yeah well, you're wrong! This stuff tastes like it's worth $40 a bottle. Service is always friendly here, but parking can be crowded on the weekends. read more

I wasn't familiar with Trader Joe's and was under the impression that it was going to be an expensive grocery store. However, it's actually pretty reasonable compared to Safeway (and you don't need to be a card holding member) and some items such as broth that's cheaper than your big box stores like Walmart. They have a number of great specialty brands that you see at large grocery chains. The store itself is pretty small so it can get pretty crowded. There's a variety of groceries just limited selection. For example, there's only one brand of cilantro versus other stores will have pre-packaged cilantro and loose cilantro for you to pick yourself. There's a sampling station with coffee & tea to the side of it at the back for a quick snack while you're shopping. Nice. read more

This location is similar to most other TJ's. It gets really busy because it is in a big shopping center with some bigger stores. I don't usually go to this location but I ran in one night and the staff was really nice as I was running around looking for particular items. The parking lot can get busy and you may not be able to get parking right in front of the store but there is always parking available in the lot. read more

Love Trader Joe's, loved the prepared food, a non cook's heaven. But have to be careful on the times that you go, don't go on the weekend, the parking and crowds are hell, I like to go afterwork on a weeknight. Enjoy the tzatiki cucumber, sour cream and herbs with olives and pita bread in the summer. Love the selection of sausages and the dried nut and fruit choices are great. Once, I did get fuzzy mini tomatoes in the non fridge section, so check your fruits and veggies from this area. I have seen other items with mold, so just be careful. So much to choose from, I spend a mini fortune whenever I go. Parking is hell on the weekends, if you go, go early. read more

My local neighborhood Trader Joe's. Oh how I heart thee.. Even though you run out of my favorite raspberry sorbet sometimes I don't mind. Especially since you offer alternatives that are just as cheap and nutritious. I love how TJs gives me the oppurtunity to buy preservative free goods without draining my bank account. The employees are VERY helpful, friendly, and chatty. And if you aren't in the mood for small talk there is always a quieter cashier to suit your mood. read more

This location is small and easy to get around in. The selection of items is limited but the people and atmosphere is nice. I asked one of the staff here a few questions and he seemed like he really cared about giving answers that were really thought through. I did not see a lot of choices for juices. Like I said, there is a lot less choices in this store. I still liked shopping here. I would recommend coming here. It's very easy to get in and out without too many distractions. read more

Good spot to have a TJ's. You have a 24 hours gym down the lot. Perfect for anyone keeping fit that wants to buy something healthy to eat after a good workout. I came in to buy water and about 5 different employees asked me if I needed any help from the moment I walked in to the moment I got to the register. This is now my regular Trader Joe's, since it's the closest to my house. I like that's it's a much more spacious store than the Campbell one I have been shopping at for years. The staff seems pleasant, and they gave me no problems when i returned a jam with mold inside, (i think the seal had been broken.) Lines get long, but they are pretty fast at checking people out, and they seem to have many lines open at a time. They have had all the products I'm looking for in stock, and they are still the cheapest for Fage yogurt. I'll be doing a bit of shopping here, so I'm glad this is such a nice store. read more

Another great anchor store in the San Antonio shopping complex. TJ's not only sells the cheapest OJ on the market ($1.99 for the pulp-free OJ from concentrate), it sells bananas and nuts cheaper than anywhere else and is the only purveyor (as far as I know) of raw pizza dough. If that wasn't good enough, every so often TJ's offers something that is just knock-my-socks off awesome. Our most recent find was the quart size mango sorbet from Australia - smooth, rich, with the Philippine mango taste that I have only experienced in mango sorbet from the Philippines. Too bad they stopped carrying it once mango season down under ended. The staff here are friendly and will open a new register if too many people are in line. Boring Monday...I'm going grocery shopping. Wooo Hooo. Get out of the way, I want those avocados, those bean sprouts, some Challah bread, almost-home-made-peanut butter, walnut-cranberry-gorgonzolla salad dressing, some Bordeaux...J'aime le vin ici. Good selection of boutique items like prepackaged frozen foods, fruits, veggies and wine; the store is a bit bigger than the one in Cambell;...my only complaint? This location was hard to find, unless you're a local. I couldn't see it from Showers St.. I couldn't find it from El Camino. It is now completely dark because Sears shut down. Well...go along El Camino, going north; before you hit the San Antonio intersection, turn right into the Chili's parking lot...Trader Joes is behind the restaurant. As far as grocery stores go I love Trader Joe's... and I hate grocery shopping. Why can't the food just appear in my cabinets? That said, there are a few things I like to get at Trader Joe's. Two Buck Chuck (that is Charles Shaw wines). At $1.99 a bottle its a great value. If you haven't heard about Two Buck Chuck you must be a hermit. If you haven't tried it, you should. At 2 bucks, what have you got to lose? They also have other wines at good prices. Tequila - A decent tequila for $10? Who knew? I wish I could remember the brand name so I could include it here. Sushi - I like sushi but hate going to sushi restaurants because you can spend more then your rent for the meal without even realizing it. At Trader Joe's you can pick up pre-packaged sushi for a very reasonable price. The only other place I have found for sushi that comes close (price-wise and quality-wise) is Safeway. Pre-packed salads - If you work near a Trader Joe's and want a good salad for lunch then dash in. Of course there great for home too. read more

Trader Joe's recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, so it's only fair to mark the festive occasion with a well-earned 5-star review for this well run, staffed, and stocked Mountain View location, which offers ample free parking and never seems to get too busy for rapid weekday shopping runs. Bear in mind that a 5 star rating for a chain store owned by a German mega food corporate parent (Aldi Nord) isn't the same thing as awarding 5 stars to, say, a Yosemite waterfall hike during a vigorous spring snowmelt, or spending a long winter's night in the warmth and comfort of a converted train car (Izaak Walton Inn) where you can literally step outside and into your cross-country skis for a moonlit Christmas Eve adventure. It's hard to compare Trader Joe's with a memorable meal at Michelin-starred Gary Danko or an hour-long guided tour of Schramsberg's historic sparkling wine caves in Napa Valley. It's about how TJs compares to others in the "Grocery, Beer, Wine & Spirits" category. Nothing more and nothing less. That's why the rating is what it is. Not all stars are created equal. I rate this Trader Joe's highly because it fills a convenient spot in my monthly food and drink needs. It's a short drive away from a yoga studio I frequent and also easy to access from the US-101, El Camino Real, Foothill Expressway, and I-280 corridors. Compared to the San Mateo location that I also patronize, this location has better parking and seems to be better staffed, meaning shorter lines and more efficient customer service. It's fully stocked and has a large footprint for a Trader Joe's - lots of square footage to go around, creating a good flow most of the time. Not like the earlier generations of TJs that were squeezed into cheap rental space in a non-descript shopping strip. This is gold-plated, premium property in a high income section of the South Bay - Mountain View is home to Google, after all - so they can afford to be a bit more generous with the amenities and staffing needs. I also rate TJs so highly because I only really utilize it for niche needs, very specific items that are competitively priced, regularly available, and consistently good. Most of our food needs are met at local farmers' markets or come from an all-organic community garden plot, or from local coffee roasters, wine sellers, vineyards, microdistillers, ranchers, fishermen, farmers, orchard operators, green grocers, or egg providers. So about 90% of what TJs sells I don't need, ever. But Canadian maple syrup, I can use that. Sprouted wheat bread, Norwegian flatbread crackers, organic butter and yogurt, dried fruit, European and California wines in the $10-15 popular premium price tier (Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc + Viognier being a great example), these are useful things that cost much less than at Whole Foods or Safeway. The Aldi's connection is great for certain E.U. imports like Spanish olive oil, Italian wines, or French cheeses, while the TJ's generic label for things like flour, lentils, rice, farro, quinoa, or whole wheat pasta is ideal for bulk items with long shelf life. As a one-stop shopping location, Trader Joe's would not be my first choice. But neither would anyone else. One stop shopping is simply not for me, given the alternatives to support local businesses in the Bay Area. But for the experienced shopper who knows what he likes, TJs has proven its bona fides time and time again. From seasonal specialities like German Lebkucken, Turkish apricots, Californian premium olive oil, Barbados rum, or Cote du Provence pink wines, and regular staples like sun-dried tomatoes, raw milk cheddar, or quick-cooking barley, hardly a month goes by without at least one visit here to gather the goods that make life run smoothly. This is what you'd expect out of an average Trader Joes, over estatic employees in helping the customer. But the other day, this was taken to another level. I went over to the demo station and noticed that it was still being made. The demo lady by the name of Beverly told me it'll be a few more moments until it's ready. I stood around maybe a moment or two and walked away to continue shopping and planned to return in a later. About 30 seconds later I see Beverly walking half way across the store brining me a demo sample! She really didn't have to do that. Thanks Beverly! read more

I love TJ's. It's fun and they have nice groceries. This is a review to aid ladies out there- Some of the employees are wonderful, hell- they are nice people who seem to be very comfortable with their jobs. Some other employees are blatantly, over the top, checking you out. Every time I go in there, I brace myself to feel like I'm on display as a chunk of prime steak. It's weird. And literally every one of the many times I've been. I don't know man... Like, it's SO obvious that there's no way the other employees (IE MANAGERS AND SHIFT LEADERS COUGH AHEM COUGH AHEM) don't know about it and don't do anything to stop it. SUUUUUPPPPEEERRRRRR awkward. Nice store with some more of European food. It is funny to know that Trader Joes belongs to the Aldi group which mainly proposes discount stores in Europe: not the most fanciest. Great store, good parking, and the employees are always friendly and helpful. If you can't spot what you're looking for, don't hesitate to ask. I used to be the person who would never ask, afraid of being a pain in the butt, but I usually stop in here to restock very specific things, so my heart breaks when I can't find them. I admit it: I probably visit some form of grocery at least every other day because I am a selective shopper. I also, for some strange reason, love grocery shopping--everywhere but Trader Joe's. I can't help it: despite the bribes of free coffee and samples, I can't handle the overcrowded, narrow aisles often populated with unattended children wreaking havoc on reachable shelves and yuppies blocking the aisle with their carts while perpetually in the midst of a Very Important Call. But, I know where I can get the best, cheapest products. This TJ's is convenient to my other food sources, so it's on my weekly itinerary. Some people avoid TJ's because they think it's too expensive. If you shop for everything here, this is certainly the case. Selective shopping can be productive, however; buy things that are cheaper here (canned beans, basic bakery products, Clif bars, bananas, and Two Buck Chuck by the case should the classy occasion arise) and splurge on a few items you can't get elsewhere (for me, blueberry muesli, Sea Dog beer, and the occasional frozen TJs specialties). Other than that, the produce is *much* better at the Milk Pail Market in the same shopping center, and many of the national specialty and organic brands you can get cheaper elsewhere. read more

Trader Joe's is the best grocery store in the business. They hold top quality products and sell them at low prices. Shopping experience is just fast and joyful. And importantly, compared to other stores, workers can earn living wages with good benefits (Although it is still not good enough). Love the free micro coffee stand in the back corner. I go just for that, and pick up some food while there. The premium mac and cheese beats the Kraft mac and cheese - you will never go back to the Kraft. Love the local art murals around the walls, helps to make it a part of the community. read more

Trader Joe's has just got to be one of the best stores around. I just love shopping here. Prices are reasonable and the variety is excellent. Most of the items you want, in my case, from Whole Food Markets, is also available here and at a cheaper price. I go to TJs about 2-3 times a week for meats, cheeses, beverages, stuff for my kid. It also helps that the staff accomodates my kid's requests for balloons, stickers, whatever and that they are friendly! read more

i wish i had better things to write since i usually like trader joe's. this location is uber close to where i live, and i could walk here if needed. parking is great and plentiful. i walked in a little before closing time on a wednesday, looking to buy some strawberries. they were easy to find, but to my dismay, almost every box had a molded strawberry or two in it, so i passed. then i looked at their produce, and noticed that they weren't all that fresh either, i.e. mushrooms were very brown. i'm really hoping that i walked in on an off day b/c i normally really like trader joe's and what they have to offer. maybe i'll have better luck next time. read more

My favorite TJ location in the bay area. Lines are never too long, great customer service who are always available to offer me their suggestions on new and exciting items, such as the popcorn in a pickle, or the ghost pepper potato chips. TJ is on my regular shopping excursion list and I have plenty of regular items it pickup. If you're price sensitive, there are plenty of items that beat out Safeway and other more commercial stores. read more

For the most part, I enjoy going to this Trader Joe's location until today. Most people who work here are nice and helpful but I've come across some unprofessional attitude. For example, while shopping, one of the employees was trying to get another employee's attention and the other person didn't seem to hear. I then tapped this person on the shoulder to let him know that his co-worker seemed desperate to get his attention from the food both. He continues to ignore her and snaps at me "I heard her!". He then went on a stream of consciousness rant about coffee and co workers and not being bothered. I wasn't sure if this was meant for me or the co-worker, either way, super unprofessional. It appears that I got caught in the usual workplace dust up. If you have a beef with a co-worker, save it for the break room and don't air it out in front of customers or take it out on them. Get a grip, man! read more

I love Trader Joe's. No, you can't get everything here, but anything you can get is always good stuff at a decent price. For example, raisin bran without sugar-crusted raisins, ice cream made out of a handful of English-language ingredients, and wine that is both good and cheap. (I love California but the good-and-cheap comes from France.) The San Antonio shopping center is kind of a depressing concrete hellscape, but everyone just drives up to Trader Joe's, gets their shopping on, then leaves. read more

This store location is large enough that it is able to carry the fresh produce, entire aisle of alcohol, its dairy products, frozen section and prepared lunches/meals. In the back corner of the store, there is always a tasting booth. Has a good amount of foot traffic and can get snug. The staff have always been friendly. read more
