A TJ's review and a commentary on the limited-edition bags. Overall, I'd say that I like this store, but as with everything these days, there are occasionally some challenges. This store is generally organized and well stocked, but I do sometimes receive conflicting information about when out of stock items might be back in stock. Most of the crew members are nice and helpful, but a few offer opinions that are inappropriate for a business setting. I occasionally hear crew members complaining about customers and, while I realize that dealing with the general public can be challenging, I would like to remind these crew members that some of your co-workers have some fairly quirky personalities too. The only thing that seems to be really bothering a lot of customers lately are the inconveniences we encounter over the limited release bags. This store has done a good job of creating two lines, one for people who want bags and one for people who just want to do their grocery shopping. In spite of this good solution to deal with the volume of customers at these bag releases, things are getting worse. Last week the entire parking lot was taken over by people in line for bags. Those of us who just wanted to shop for groceries had to park in Walmart's lot and hike over to the store. I'm not sure what Trader Joe's agenda is with this manufactured scarcity of bags. I realize that logo bags are a marketing strategy to show brand loyalty, but these limited-edition bags only seem to be creating a market for the resellers on ebay and people sending them to international locations. These people usually only buy the bags, not groceries, and the congestion they're creating at the store level is only pissing off your loyal customers, i.e. the people who built your brand in the first place by shopping regularly at your stores. Why don't you just start selling them around the world? Your marketing strategy could be that Trader Joe is bringing something from a US store chain to people around the world. read more

Too bad there isn't a Trader Joe's in my new neighborhood. I used to shop in this Trader Joe's for about 20 years. I still come back partly because I know exactly how to drive in this neighborhood. Walking into the store, I was greeted by some of my favorite products which I can no longer find on a daily basis. So when I have business in Mountain View, I make a pilgrimage to the Trader Joe's and stock up. They have a lot of healthier options for me, which are actually pretty tough to find in other supermarkets. Parking was competitive, but I knew it would be. I've never even written a yelp review. Well, maybe one, years ago, but my experience at the Mountain view trader joes hasn't been the best! Ive been going to different trader joes for 24 years, specifically because of their wine and Finlaggen Islay Scotch. 1st issue happened a few months ago: I had rushed into trader Joe's to grab a couple of bottles and when I went to pay, my card didn't go through. They attempted to run it "2 times" and it still didn't work. So, when I left, I called my bank because I knew I had at least a thousand on that card; the funds were still in there and the banker didn't show any attempts on my card from Trader Joe's! I was almost late for work and let it go in the moment. Then today, the second thing happened. Back story: My licensed expired on my 45th bday in January. I immediately renewed it but didnt get a physical one yet. As of March 28th my temporary license expired, sonI went back to DMV today and got another temporary licensed. Today I decided to go to Trader joes to grab a bottle and without looking at my paperwork, the lady says that their policy won't allow for them to accept my temporary licence! Since when? Because I've never a had a problem before, just at this specific trader joes. As much as I've sung Trader Joe's praises over the years especially to young people trying to get into the wine game but don't have the budget to buy expensive bottles of wine for education purposes, it's annoying that I even have to write this. Solid Trader Joe's. You'll find all the usual items. The layout is nice and takes you right into fruits and produce at the entrance. Most items are well stocked, and the service members are friendly. Always, always look out for seasonal items, such as the wild berry cheesecake ice cream, or the condensed milk. They are usually pretty good about returns or exchanges. I was in the shopping center and decided to drop in to pick up some favorites. I walked in before closing and there was no line. There is hand sanitizer before entering the store. The greeter welcomed me in & a cart was waiting inside the store for me. I grabbed it and picked up all my favorites along with a couple of items I wanted to try. I found everything but the FETA cheese which I assume is still sold out (dang viral pasta)! I found an open cashier and she asked me if I needed bags. She completed my transaction asked if I wanted my receipt in the bag and I was on my way. The service was fine. The store is well stocked. During peak hours you will wait in line as they are limiting capacity inside the store. Employees are wearing masks and the store has stickers on the floor to keep 6 feet apart while waiting to pay. The places to put your cart back are close by. The parking lot is shared with other stores but it's orderly. read more

SIP Review: I decided to visit since I had to go into work last week. I haven't been here since the start of SIP, it's been too long! But despite the long long to get inside, I actually felt safer shopping here than anywhere else. For one, they track the number of folks going in and leaving the store. 2, one way in and one way out. I'm not sure how many people they let in, but not too many where it feels crowded. I was able to wait until someone finishes in an aisle before going down. 3, they sanitize the shopping cart handles and wipe them down for you right before giving you the cart. 4. They also marked the lines so there are 6 ft apart. Being able to follow them is a different story altogether lol. For the most part they were stocked, as of 4/28/2020 they had veggies, meat, cheeses, dairy, but no unsalted butter. They did have some butter, but mostly salted. I would highly recommend visiting Trader Joe's for groceries during SIP. Bring a list! read more

It's always a good time at Trader Joe's no matter what city I go to. I must declare this isn't a bad trader joes because whatever I need I can access it very easily. Prices will forever remain the same so there is no need to be upset that it varies by store. This seems to one of the busier locations in the county because of the location. You get people from all walks of life that live in Los Altos, Palo Alto and Mountain View. There are a lot of people that come here for their work breaks if they want to grab a drink or a quick salad to eat. The selection here is very nice because there is a lot of what I need here. Check out is fast and easy, staff that work here is very friendly. Always willing to talk with you. If you miss this Trader Joe's there's another one down the street in Paly. read more

AVOID IF YOU CARE ABOUT SUSTAINABILITY This is the TJ closest location to me and I am a weekly customer. However today's experience was just beyond horrific. We brought our plastic bottles to this location for the buy-back program. The store did not accept plastics - which was cool. But what was NOT COOL was the Manager at the front desk was RUDE, DISMISSIVE, and gave the WRONG reason for why this location didn't accept plastics. Turns out TJs can pay a fee to avoid taking plastics back (obviously wasn't the confrontational reason this manager gave). It is truly hypocritical for a brand that prides itself on being sustainable and "green" and sells TONS of products in plastic packaging to not be accountable for the end of life for plastic. This is bad for the environment and our world - and just not responsible. Trader Joe's - you can do better! And then for the employees- please educate yourselves on the right reason why your branch does not enroll in the plastic buy back program...and have better training on how to treat and respect your customers. I've read many reviews on how poor the customer service is at this location. Was hoping I didn't have to write this review. read more

Trader Joe's has consistently increased my admiration of their commitment to customers and employees during the pandemic.

I have been shopping at Trader Joes in Mountain View since the store opened, 20 + years. I don't know what's going on with the management there, but the last three times I have shopped there on Sunday at 7pm, the music in the store is blasting so loud that I literally have to leave. Last night, the music was so loud that I couldn't talk loud enough for an employee to hear my questions about a product I wanted to buy. On one of the other times, the music was blaring and my daughter asked an employee walking by "why is the music so loud?" That employee then went over to an older guy wearing a Hawaiian shirt and a red name tag, talked with him and then pointed at me. That guy, presumably a manager then stood next to me and began mocking me by talking really loud other employees, and saying, "Hey, everybody is the music too loud for you?" Trader Joes management needs to be aware that these rogue store managers are not stimulating customers to "buy more," they are driving us out of the store and we are "buying less." read more

T-Joe's has implemented a great pandemic shopping policy. I don't know if it was just this location or a corporate mandate but whoever came up with it should get a big thank you bonus (as should everyone still working!). I especially appreciate this effort as I'm pregnant and the last time I was here was hit by a cart and felt people losing their sense of decency, both for workers and fellow shoppers. Entrance: a worker has you wait outside. When someone exits on the other side, they spray and sanitize a cart and let you in. They're controlling the # of customers inside and cutting down the time you spend inside by doing this, which is good for EVERYONE. You shop, and all cashiers are all hands on deck. There are NO lines. There was rarely anyone in the same aisle and unlike 2 weeks ago, no one falling all over eachother and their poor employees trying to restock during the madness. Once you exit, Exit staff let's Entrance staff know so one more can go in, etc. My only recommendations as this is a new thing they're doing is for maybe a sign asking people to wait or staff to be more vocal about it as I was a little confused upon approach. And maybe it'd be helpful if Entrance staff could spray the cart ahead of time and wipe before handing it off (vs spraying and wiping right away); this allows the alcohol to do its job. This Trader Joe's has a pretty good selection of everything you'd expect, from frozen food to condiments to snacks. The wine section is not the most comprehensive but occasionally has some gems. Ah Trader Joe's home of a fun and quirky newsletter and to some of the most popular but awful wine ever. Trader Joe's I dare say is almost a cult. A huge chunk of the goods in the store is the house brand and they have fantastic prices on most everything else. You are not going to go wrong with most of the house brands either. There are many websites that try to track down who is making their products and most of the time its a top notch food producer. Its almost as if Wholefoods and Grocery Outlet had a baby. They stand by their products and you can bring anything back if you are not satisfied. The employees by and large seems to have a good time, and who wouldn't since the work uniforms are Hawaiian shirts!. Also the whole chain has a nautical theme going on and you have to wonder where Bob and his pineapple is. This Joe's is a bit small and lives in a somewhat busy strip mall area. In other words parking can be bad, and the store can be crowded. The produce is generally fresh and has great prices. They also sport alot of organic options. We also buy alot of our dairy products there like the organic milk, yogurt, and sour cream. We are also big fans of their seed/nuts since they are available without salt most of the time. That being said I remain perplexed to the whole 2 Buck Chuck phenomenon. Yes its cheap. But its that cheap because its NOT that good. Nuff said. Aside from peoples poor taste in wine my only other real complain it PLEASE bring back the BBQ "Fritos" style corn chips. They were simply the best. If you have never been you should add Trader Joe's to your weekly places to stop! read more

Have you ever bought an item and forget to bring a fork or spoon to eat it? Have you ever wish someone was nice enough to think for you before you got to your location and didn't have a spoon!? Well....Nancy V. was able to do just that! She was very welcoming checking out my items and saw I had a yogurt and asked me if I needed a spoon. I had no idea Trader Joe's employees did this. Unfortunately there is no customer survey link printed on the receipt to be able to let the manager know the way the cashiers treat people. I've been shopping for years at this location (590 Shower, Mountain View) but never encounter a rude and inconsiderate casher as the one I met today. I spoke to Mgr Bill about a Traders Joe Bag I purchased @ Westlake store last night for $4.99 ripped and all I wanted was a replacement and when I presented him with the incorrect traders Joe receipt he said "First of all we are Mountain View Store and I cannot replace the bag until you present me with the right receipt!!! I made me feel like I was trying to cheat him with his own Store brand bag, My store cashier Jasmine was nice enough to give me a store bag and apologized for his inappropriate behavior. This manager was so rude he did not accommodate me because he wanted a receipt. You would think he stands by the Traders Joe Brand. My family and I will never Shop there ever again!!!! read more

Love this Trader Joe's. It's about average size for a TJs. There is one or two pinch points where a couple carts can block all of the foot traffic. And the produce tends to go bad a little faster than other grocery stores. But on the plus side, they almost always have samples and I love their other products! FYI hours are changing starting tomorrow. They will close at 9pm every night instead of 10. read more

Really helpful staff and great prices, but limited product choices in some areas! I've called in a couple times to check on pricing and availability of some products since they don't list stuff online, and every time I've called, the associates would personally go find the products I was asking about and get back to me. I really value the time they take to do this, since I like to make informed choices about where to buy my groceries before heading over to the stores. TJs is usually the cheapest out there, and I know I'm getting great quality products at such low prices. Especially love their organic nuts collection, which is cheaper than buying bulk at Whole Foods! One place WF does work out cheaper though is specialty flour section (like almond and coconut flour). They also use really cute packaging for their products, another motivational factor to purchase here, haha. Only downside I would say is that they don't always have as much variety. For example, I wanted a single carrot this past weekend, but they only had the bagged ones which had too many for someone who just cooks single-serve meals for just themselves. They also sometimes run out of fresh produce at the end of a day, but I've only had that happen on me once out of the more than 20 times I've been here since moving to the area recently. read more

Employees are helpful, cheerful, and go out of their way to assist you in finding items. Only once did I have to return an item and there was no issue at all. (A dear friend went to work there several years ago on the east coast and I have never seen her happier. She loves the company and her associates). God this review has been way overdue. I love this location Gus is doing a fantastic job running his store. They're always very cheerful and helpful and you just can tell they love doing their job. Their customer service is always on point and the store itself is well stocked and maintained. Absolutely Love this Trader Joe's store!!! Today my sister and I visit this wonderful store to get some vegan groceries and of course some boost for an upcoming trip to Lake Tahoe, first of all, I was amazed at how well they are handling new safety guidelines to take care of customers and their employees. The second great impression was how well stock, clean and organize the store was, we could find all the items we need it in a very short period time and last and to us, the most important of all was the manager DIANA and her friendly staff, she was walking by and ask if we were finding what we need, she took her time to direct us to where the wine was located, and she even mentions some keto wine I was looking for, Diana surely knows what great customer service means thanks, girl!!
