Tiny but mighty! Located in small plaza but packs a punch. I love how it's always so busy but fully stocked. I can always count on finding what I need and then some when I shop here. Although this location I find to be busier than many others, I can some times feel overwhelmed by the amount of folks that are in the store but the staff is so great about getting folks what they need to help ease the stress. The staff is also great at making recommendations for new menu items and classics. They have great premade salads, like the miso salmon and the lemon orzo that are often a staple in our rotation of lunches. As I always enjoy a tour de Trader Joe's I will be sure to come back and visit soon to find more goodies to try. read more

Surprised I haven't reviewed this location before. While it seems a little smaller than the locations I frequent, they are every bit as friendly and helpful. From the bright displays of flowers, to the TJ staffer offering enticing samples, to the helpful staffer who came up to me and took my items to ring up, this TJ is just oozing with kindness and hospitality. This Trader Joe's is located in the Glen Oak Plaza, right off of Lake. It's a busy plaza, so it does get jam-packed and tight. The selection offerings are similar to other TJ's, and I've seen some items that may be considered 'out-of-stock' at other locations are available here (such as the Squiggly Noodles). I did notice that they had some items that were not available, such as the salmon in the tin. Staff are very friendly and there was one member who went around and checked-in with each customer individually, to see if they were finding everything they were looking for - we were checked-in a couple times! The check-out process is quick and efficient, and, as always, the staff are fun, kind, and have a great sense of humor. This is a nice, spacious, and airy Trader Joe's. They anchor a fairly large but older and congested corner strip mall in a busy commercial section of Glenview. Like most Trader Joe's recently at least, they have on their walls a local artist's drawings of well known business staples or sights in the respective suburb. This is a nice touch for both residents and non-residents alike, and I've now noticed them in Park Ridge and Downers Grove. This Trader Joe's also has a particularly large wine section and I can only assume that is reflective of the tastes of Glenview's populace, and it's not a bad thing! Staff here is also typical TJ's quality - helpful, welcoming, and friendly. read more

I've started coming to this one on occasion, as it's not far from my doctor's office and down the street from where I get my car washed. I prefer this store over the Evanston store. The parking lots at TJ's are always notoriously terrible, but this one is better than Evanston's and it's much easier to get in and out, which makes it worth a longer drive. The store is smaller, but it's less congested inside (especially without tons of college kids and commuters picking up groceries on their way to the L stop). They don't necessarily have the newest seasonal products or the most ample selection of items compared to larger TJ's, but they typically have 90% of what I came to get. So, that's good enough for me, and worth avoiding the headache that often comes with the Evanston store. And, their wine selection is very well-organized and they have some fun options. This is my favorite Trader Joe's in the North/Northwest Chicago suburbs. Location beats Park Ridge and Arlington Heights by a landslide, although the parking can be cramped at times. Amazing deals on flowers, greeting cards, fun seasonal food items and their biscotti is one of my all-time favorites. Super friendly staff who genuinely seem to enjoy their jobs. Yeah! read more

I came here out of sheer need for a change in my diet and shopping for healthier alternatives. A friend of mine told about a few items to get and I was in the area and popped in The place isn't nearly as big as I thought it would be but the quality is high and the choices were right where I was geared. The produce section is limited but had a very healthy appeal to it. There were items that my regular grocery store didn't have. The meat section was limited as well and more pricy that most of the store. As for the rest of the store, I bought a few frozen items and had to test out the salsa section for the pineapple, mango, and red jalapeno salsa. The prices were well within reason and I'm happy with how my first Trader Joe's experience went! read more

This is one of my favorite grocery stores. It is not my main store but I love to stock up on quick frozen weekday meals here. The staff is super enthusiastic and loves their jobs. Two employees played with bmy son while I checked out! I like that many of the items are seasonal which keeps the store fresh. They also have a large affordable wine selection. Aside from the absolutely terrible, horrible parking lot, this Trader Joe's checked off all the TJ boxes for me. Great variety of cheese (yep, I love their cheese), fun variety of foodstuffs for noshing, and a fabulous wine/beer section. Tonight I stopped in for some beer for a New Year's dinner (Fat Tire beer), and what I loved about their beer selection is that they carry some great local beers. Two Brothers seemed to be a stand out, and I believe Temperance also caught my eye. I'm sure there were others, and it's so great to see local breweries being supported in a large chain store. I love Trader Joe's. For such a small store, I'm so amazed at the quantity and quality of items they carry as well as the variety they offer. I always find what I'm looking for at Trader Joe's at a price much cheaper than I expected. The staff is invariably friendly and helpful. Minor note, but I appreciate the aesthetic and layout of the store. wide aisles, logical organization of products, and the decorations give a fresh and pleasant vibe. Major note, I get really excited when there are free samples in stores. Trader Joe's always offers a sample of their seasonal coffee and some other product they're featuring. Pro-tip: ask a worker to sample any product in the store and they will go and grab you a sample. read more

This is a great Trader Joe's. The staff is alway at the ready, restocking and cleaning. They run to a register when a customer is ready to check out. They get you in and out quickly. Friendly staff and fast service (when they don't have a line.) Excellent location. Trader Joe's is always ahead of the game when it comes to innovating the food market. Love shopping here for the large selection of freshly products that help on my daily needs. Great vegan options as well. They do a great job catering to a large selection of diets. Trader Joe's seriously does customer service right! I'm always super happy when I leave- whether it's because of great service or because of the amazing things that they sell. In fact I feel lucky that I don't need to wait in line like the Trader Joe's in downtown, New York (where the entire store is literally a line). Foods: I've tried so many things (including almost all of their 2015 Pumpkin Line- obsessed) and I have to say the food and service bring me back. I highly highly highly recommend: their frozen foods, snacks, and their body products. My favorite snack is their seasonal "candy cane joe-joe's"- they are like oreos but 100x better because they aren't as sweet and they're actually minty. I like to eat them with milk or crush them up and put them on ice cream! Other: Their body products are actually really awesome. I've tried their pumpkin body butter (smells amazing) and currently use their face soap. Everything is super cheap but really great. Bacchus: I know they're known for their "2 buck Chuck" but I've tried several varieties and I find them better for cooking. I love my drinks super sweet (like ports/bubblies/moscato), and did not really like the wine- despite it's great value. Customer Service: Fantastic! I sound super happy in this review just because I went earlier today and the staff was just super nice. They were helpful, polite, and genuinely talkative- and not in a fake way, either. I love everything about this store! The friendly and very helpful staff, the organization of the store and how I can always find what I'm looking for. I also really love the Trader Joe's brand items. Some of my favorite snacks are the apple cinnamon sticks and the white cheddar cheese puffs. The desserts here are always amazing! You can't go wrong with the chocolate chip dunkers, any of the candy, and the chocolate babka. Another wonderful aspect of this store is that they always try to sample something new, this way you can try it before buying it. I've found so many wonderful items because of this. I enjoy talking with the staff, they offer great suggestions on foods, and give advice on pairing foods together. Like the cilantro dressing with lentils. It was a sample they did a while ago and it's now a staple in my home. I'm always impressed with the how well maintained and clean the store is, even when it's super busy. This review is LONG overdue. I am a ride or die TJ's supporter. I have a rule that if I can't read the ingredients in something, I won't buy it. Obviously some things I have to make exceptions for like the amazing ice cream sandwiches BUT for the most part- in TJ's I trust. The prices are beyond fair, and customer service is phenomenal. I appreciate that if something is faulty that they allow you to return it, no questions asked, and you can also do that with items you brought home to try and didn't care for. TBH I wouldn't really do that with the current COVID situation- but that's just me. I even love their flowers! I usually get a nice little bouquet and the little things like that, really boost my mood... especially during these times. Thank you Trader Joe's for being my BFF. read more

More often than not, the cashiers act as if they are here to socialize and the customers can wait until they finish their conversation ((which is not work-related). Just tonight, I am standing - ready to checkout, with items in my hands - between two registers - and the cashiers at these registers are talking to each about some show. And so, I am standing between them and they keep talking as if I am not there. I had to go to another register. I work with public as well - and in not-for-profit - and we never ignore customers so we could keep chatting. So, not sure why they are like this at this location, but I see it here way too often to be acceptable. I also see workers slamming items into their carts, including cookie tins that get easily dented. I think such passive-aggressive behavior has no place in a great store like TJ. read more

Oh my god. There's so much...room! I shop at the location on N. Lincoln Ave. (b/t Addison and Irving Park) in the city, and, OMG- there's so much room here! The aisles are soooo wide you can almost fit three carts side-by-side. How crazy is that? If you don't know what I mean, go the Lincoln Ave. location sometime on a Saturday after 12pm. (When there's no Cubs or Bears game that day.) You'll be shocked. I feel no shame in saying there are times I've walked out b/c of the sheer volume of people shopping and in line (but I also am a 5-minute walk away, no biggie.) I wouldn't think this location has the tight-space issues, though. From what the guy told me, it gets just about as busy, so be sure to go early, go later or go during the week. As always, great prices, decent selection of basics+, you can't beat the TJ-brand bargains. (TJ's is my main grocery store, I'm happy to say.) read more

Trader Joe's = snack shopping heaven. I never leave here with actual food -- no well-balanced 3 meals a day for me. I do end up leaving with a lot of snacks though. Their have a ridiculous selection of dried fruits - mangosteen and pomelo?! Am I am Asia or something? I love it. The pumpernickel pretzels are to die for. And the frozen section?! I die. I have pithivier, edamame, and smoked salmon and spinach crepes in the freezer right now... and this is me showing shopping restraint. Make sure to pick up some bottles of their unsweetened green tea (the orange/bergamot one is lovely) in case you get thirsty from all the snacking. JN loves the wine selection and fruit leathers, and we both love trying the samples. The staff are almost as cute (and sooo friendly!) as the little variantions of "Trader Joe's" logos on the different treats. The Tales and Perils of Trader Joe's........ ....so I walk to T Joe's from my office recently at lunch time. I am in a hurry - I have a list of only 12 things I need. I get a cart - I put about 8 things in it. I set my cart to the side as I make a dash for the usually crowded refrigerated area to grab my last few items. 60 seconds later I attempt to return to my cart - and it is missing in action. WTF?!?!?! What to do? Go outside and get another cart and start all over or hunt down the culprit. I choose the latter. I walk around the store for about 2 mins until I am across the store in the wine area. I see my cart - now laden with about 6 bottles of wine and other items - and a short tiny woman, nicely dressed (this IS Glenview, you know) 55+ standing with the cart. With my assorted dair y products in my arms I say to her - nicely - "Hi. I went to get some dairy items and I turned around and someone had taken my cart - and well, here it is!" She looked at me, smugly and snottily, "this is MY cart." I said "this cart - with the 2 lbs of butter, 1 box of TJoes Mixed Nut and Berry Granola, Jarlsberg cheese, roasted pepper hummus and the Seeded Semolina Filoni bread? These are YOUR items?" She proceeds to touch all my items and say "Yes! This is mine and this is mine...!" I am incredulous - I cannot believe she will not surrender my cart! I just stared at her and finally said "You are mentally ill and need help." I was shaking I was so pissed, as I walk away and hear her do a cluck with her tongue. So I got outside, get a cart, retrace my steps and I try to calm down. About 5 minutes later, a TJoe's employee comes up to me, seeing my astounded confused face and says "Can I help you?" I proceed to tell her what happened and she says "You know, for some reason, that happens all the time in this store." And suddenly out of the corner of my eye, I see the cart thief come up to me - sans cart - and say "Sorry about that - it IS your cart" and walk away. I look at her - say okay - and proceed to talk to the TJoe's employee. This ranks as of one THE most bizarre incidents I have ever had. Trader Joe's - love ya! Love, love, love this Trader Joes! Its a pleasure coming here where the staff (and shoppers too) are so friendly and helpful! People who come here are food enthusiasts, such as myself. Theres a sense of community in coming here, where strangers love to share what their favorite items are (and i do too!). Their are always new items coming in to sample. The frozen selection is top-notch for those nights where you want to have an actual good quick meal. Fresh is amazing too for certain items you can get a much better deal on organic then other big grocery stores. Come here for your wine and cheese fix too. Huge selection of amazing and inexpensive wines from around the world and a nice variety of cheeses too. My dogs are a fan of trader joes also! Lots of really good dog treats here! I still do need to go to my Jewel for a few things, so i can't do all my shopping here unfortunately. However, I love their selection, small store feel, and amazing staff. read more

My wife and I discovered Trader Joe's on a trip to Phoenix many years ago. We were happy when Trader Joe's finally came to the Chicago area and happier when Glenview was selected as a location. Today my wife was shopping there when Dave asked her how she was. When she said we had just lost a family member and the funeral was tomorrow, he grabbed a large tin of fancy cookies and gave it to her. I usually do not review grocery stores (I see people reviewing Walgreens and McDonalds. Is anyone going to check Yelp before ordering a big mac?) but this was someone going beyond what he had to do. My go to neighborhood store. They have different types of food from all over the world. Their prices are reasonable. The sales people are nice and knowledgeable. I always buy there guilt free popcorn. It's not fattening and taste good. I highly recommended the store. read more

Ahh Trader Joe's you are the shiznit. I can get a weeks worth of food here cheaper than at a jewel/cub foods/garden fresh, and it'll be healthier (likely without preservatives or HFCS). It's like a fresh market that isn't marked up in price. It appeals to my frugalness, and my tastebuds. Also for the lazy chef, those 2$ thai box things (microwavable) are AMAZING! For the folks who have not tried them, they do not taste anything like other "instant dinner" products and are quite good. Likewise for the people who can get around that it looks like a piece of turd, those tofu-sausage things taste awesome. Plus, there's quite a quantity of hot ladies walking through this place (SOMETIMES), so it's not unlike shopping + meat market put together! read more

Ahoy matey! Sorry, I had to say that since we are talking about Trader Joe's! Everything is pirate/trader themed in the store which makes the shopping experience fun. All of the employees wear colorful Hawaiian type shirts and are the friendliest people ever! I can't say enough good things about Trader Joe's. I shop here on a regular basis and rarely am disappointed. I buy all of my groceries here and more since everything is fresh. You'll end up walking out with more than what's on your grocery list..kind of like what happens when you to go Target! I buy all of my meats here and never had a problem with spoiled meats. I also love buying snacks at TJ's since they have amazing dried fruits, nuts, bars, etc. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is due to their produce. They don't always have the freshest fruits and most of their vegetables are already prepackaged, but that doesn't deter me from buying them. I need to also mention that they have a huge wine and beer selection for affordable prices without compromising quality! So far I've only tried a couple wines but I plan to try more when I get the chance. They also have an amazing return policy where if you aren't satisfied with a product, you can return it for a full refund. How much better could it get?? So get your bum over here if you aren't already a regular! read more

I've been to this Trader Joe's several times and prefer it over the one in Northbrook. Why, cause it's closer, other than that it's the same. I've spoken with the staff before and they have been generally friendly and helpful. A couple I'll even say were down right cool. Trader Joe's is located in the neighborhood shopping center on the northeast corner of Waukegan Road and Lake. There is off-street parking in a large lot, but I always find it crowded, with narrow parking spaces. By grocery store standards, Trader Joe's is small. There are limited choices for each type of item. Trader Joe's has become my go-to place for coffee and olive oil, as they are of excellent quality and reasonably priced. Consumer Reports has consistently rated their extra virgin olive oil as a best buy. As I continue to shop there, I find other items of high quality at good prices. For example, I recently bought their semisweet chocolate chips and thought they were great. The only interaction I've had with employees has been at checkout. I've found them all to be quite friendly. One cautioned me that the coffee I was purchasing was whole beans and wasn't ground, which was thoughtful. Every once and awhile, I receive a small, tabloid, newsprint, sales flyer from Trader Joe's in the mail. It's written in a pleasant, informal style. I appreciate the flyer isn't a slick marketing piece and that they spend their dollars wisely. If you haven't tried Trader Joe's, I suggest you do. It's an excellent neighborhood store with top quality items, priced well. read more

This Trader Joe's is no better or worse than any others. It is great to be greeted by smiling workers in Hawaiian shirts on a frosty day, but otherwise this chain is WAY over hyped. The first few times you go there you'll think "Wow, this place it great." And you'll buy all these new products because they sound good, or they seem healthy, or they are not something you can find at your usual grocery store. But trust me, the novelty will wear off. The products aren't as yummy or as healthy as they seem. The overall selection is not such that you can do your weekly shopping. So, stop by for a look, and then check back in a few times a year. I think Trader Joe's is overhyped. It's fun to go into the store the first couple of times. But then you try the food... It's not that tasty nor is it appealing. Some of the things that make my stomach turn are the packaged Indian meals, all the Tex-Mex stuff, and the vacuum packed lox. Yuck! Also, I love cheese and dried fruit. I find these items almost tasteless at Trader Joe's. I dislike the TJ advertising circular. I find that, usually, if a business establishment has to tell you something is tasty that something is awful. I give it two stars because I do like the decaf Smooth and Mellow coffee beans. The coffee is the only reason I see for going into Trader Joe's. Sorry, but in five years I see this place going the route of the Treasure Island it replaced. read more
