This Trader Joe's and it's employees are efficiency in its truest form. Even if (lol, when*) there are long lines, and I mean wrapped around the store long, I never seem to wait more than ten minutes total to get to the front. They really have efficiency and customer service down here. The only negatives are how insanely difficult it is to push a buggy (shopping cart for the northerners here) through the aisles because there are SO many people ALWAYS. If you can stand the crowds and just go in, grab your stuff and leave, you'll like this TJs. Plus, the prices are AWESOME and pretty cheap for such quality products. Pro tip: go with someone else and if it's super packed have them wait in line while you run rapidly around the store and grab the things you need. Quickest shopping trip you'll ever have. read more

Nicest TJ I've ever been to! Seriously LOVE the lights. Although it was from a bank before TJ. But it's a nice touch to the store. Very big and spacious compared to the ones back home. The line usually wraps around the store according to my friend. We came to get flowers and headed towards the line. But we went to the front of the line and worked our way back and ended up walking in a giant circle because the line ended up being near the flowers. But the line goes by pretty fast. You pass by the sample booth which is a plus. The cashier line is very efficient and lots of them are open too so it goes by fast. read more

I hardly ever shop at Trader Joe's because it's not near my home and I don't feel like lugging groceries through the subway system. Also, every single time I step foot into a TJ's, it's always soooo crowded...I hate crowds and can't deal with mass amounts of people. I came here last week with my friend. She had to do some shopping for her grandmother. I figured I'd pick some items for myself. Since it was around 7pm, everyone and their mothers were in here shopping (after work rush). It was hard to wander the aisles to see what items they had. The checkout line was so long, people were forming a line in the juice/snack aisle and the end of the line was almost near the entrance of the store. Also, I think(I don't remember) but it was my first time shopping in this store, I accidentally cut some lady in line...she called me out, in a nice way...I embarrassedly got off the line...oops! I must say, the checkout line was long but it movedly quickly. I thought I was going to be standing there for a while. If I could, I would definitely hit the store earlier in the day on a weekday..much less crowded... Also, why is there only one Trader Joe's in Brooklyn???? read more

Being from Texas, the first time I walked into this Trader Joe's I was shocked...never in my life had I seen these kind of lines!!! The line pretty much starts at the checkout registers, and then wraps along the entire periphery of the store, where you end up back at the registers to checkout. You New Yorkers might be used to these kind of lines, but my first impression was that this was crazy! Good thing is that even though the lines seemed daunting at first, the staff here have it down to a a science and everything works like a well-oiled machine. There are multiple staff members who keep the line, and will lay the smack down if they sense anyone is trying to cut. Also if you're waiting in line and realize that you forget something, the staff will go out of the way to grab it for you. After a while I learned to buy everything I need in the middle of the store, and then do the rest of my shopping when I'm waiting in line :) Also there are like 20-30 cashiers working during busy hours so the line moves fast. Other than that, your typical Trader Joe's store, with all the products you're familiar with and love. Also the location is relatively close to Blue Bottle and Kung Fu Tea (both my guilty pleasures), which are on the way back to the subway stop so added bonus for me :) read more

Been there so many times at different hours and each time its so packed and lined are so long. But don't know why I just keep going back. Good quality food selections and decent price. My usual shopping list is their gluten free bread, almond milk, their chocolate chip dunkers are to die for. Almond butter is really good. Bran cereal, dry nuts and fruits. I think they have one of the best dairy free cheddar cheese and hummus. Closest Trader Joe's in Brooklyn and I love their products. The lines in Trader Joe's are pretty long, but wait...they go buy so quickly. You feel so much joy when that red flag is waved and your turn is now to check your items out! So, when I enter this store, I immediately grab a hand basket. I have a love-hate relationship with the bread. It's so good yet because of the lack of preservatives, it spoils quickly. It feels like I wasted money but eh it's not that expensive. Walking around, you'll notice that there are so many different "types" of customers. The young college students who can't cook, boyfriend and girlfriend looking for quick dinners to eat at home, mothers looking for organic products for their annoying, crying babies, and the rest of us who just come here for the hell of it. Which category do I fall into? Oh that's right, young college student who has to save. I bought the Chile Verde chicken burritos. They were so good. I bought the Beef & Steak burritos which were so good. The beef tamales were tasty but I wouldn't eat it again. I love love love the cinnamon rolls. I have to buy the Roasted Garlic tomato salsa. These are must-haves in my honest opinion. I walk around and I look for other items. My goodness, the other customers are so slow. Trader Joe's occupies a former bank. There needs to be more organization because I don't believe that I should walk through two aisles just to purchase my items. That's plain ridiculous. This is the only location in Brooklyn (go-figure) and it's only 10 minutes away from home via the 4/5 trains. I do love this place but the organization of it...not good. Could've sworn I reviewed TJ's four years ago, but I guess not. It's the Trader Joe's I go to the most because it's close to the gym and convenient to get home on the bus (B63 is just on the corner). The one thing I can't stand are the lines. Go after work and there will be lines. Go in the morning and there are lines. God help you if you go on a Sunday afternoon. I once saw the line to get in go out the door and around the corner. Ridiculousness. But hey, when you want cheap and delicious produce, ethnic frozen foods, yogurt, protein bars, nuts, pizza dough, and even sushi, you can't beat TJ's. Just carve out at least 10-15 minutes to wait on line (if you're lucky). They sell a ton of beer here and no wine (only the Union Sq location in NY does that because it's a separate store). People are are helpful and it looks like nobody hates their lives. So they have that going for them, which is nice. read more

I have never been to Trader Joe's until recently... I thought that it was going to be some overpriced produce piles like Whole Foods, but alas it is nothing of the sort. The assortment is clean and to the point, no multiple brands to dig through. You either buy it or you don't. Their private brand items are actually cheap, well cheap by NYC standards anyway. Bags of pre-cut and washed lettuce is only $1.99 and their frozen and prepared foods are reasonably priced as well. Many of their dishes are very creative and they also have free samples. My family mainly goes there for their chocolates and nuts. The bathroom at this location is not very private, you can literally see up to the sidewalk through the sheer curtains over the toilet. The curtains will not close all the way either, so you might want to use the restroom before coming here. They have made their way into Georgia, now if they can just extend into Florida, that would be great. I hope they plan on world domination. read more

Easily the coolest Trader Joe's there is any where in the world! So for my 50th review I am contributing the 100th review of this Trader Joe's in Brooklyn. I was in Brooklyn and after checking yelp, decide to visit Yemen Cuisine, which is not only responsible for starting my Exotic Travels with a MetroCard list, but has got me looking everywhere for authentic hole in the wall eating places throughout the metro area. The foodie within was reborn. I was on my way to Yemen Cuisine, when I spy one of the most interesting Trader Joe's that I've ever seen. The sign is huge and attached to the side of an historic bank building. Wow !! If I don't find that Yemeni place, at least I've got a place to grab a bite of something for lunch. I cross the street, and I just can't help myself. I am drawn into the safe and comfy confines of this wonderful market. I am easily impressed by the size of the interior. The ceiling is so far above your head as to seem unreachable. Chandeliers in supermarket. Yaah, I'm a fan. I've included some pics of this cool looking supermarket building. You can find lots of the same items that can be found at other Trader Joe's. The one thing that was immediately noticeable is that all the shelves seem to be well stocked midday on the weekday that I happened to visit. There were more check-out counters than can be found at most supermarkets. I noticed more than 20, and quite a number of them were open. I look around and find their peanut butter. My favorite is the Unsalted Crunchy, but they have it both salted and unsalted, and also creamy or crunchy. That's 4 varieties, and another 4 in organic versions. I can never find all 4 varieties, let alone all 8 (including organic) in New York TJ's, and this shop in Brooklyn is no exception. But they had my Unsalted Crunchy. I'm happy. I love Unsalted Crunchy Peanut Butter from Trader Joe's. It only lists 1 ingredient - dry roasted peanuts. That's so cool. None of that supermarket hydrogenated oils crap. That in one product, with one ingredient is the perfect example of why I love Trader Joe's. And it cost's less than $2 for a 16oz jar, much less than those crap peanut butters you can get from your markets everywhere else. YAHH!! I'm a huge fan!! That day they were sampling their eggplant with Trader Giotto's Rustico Pomodoro Pasta Sauce ($2.99). I remember clearly that it wasn't as good as the Michael's of Brooklyn ($8.99) that I had sampled previously at WholeFoods. But it still tasted home-made and for most people, the price point is much better. I still like making my own from fresh ingredients, but if I had to use someone else's sauce, this Trader Giotto guy makes it easy without breaking the bank. Like other Joe's you can also find a decent variety of beer, but all of it warm. Unlike the 14th Street market in Manhattan, there isn't a Trader Joe's wine shop next door. The one thing that is most noticeably missing from this Trader Joe's is their selection of great cheap wine. They have none. Great food. Great prices. Friendly service. Whenever I go to this Trader Joe's, I am always impressed by how the crew members are friendly and genuinely helpful. But I never felt motivated enough to write a review until today. This morning, I made the mistake to take my sweet little mutt with me, and I got called out on it even though he was not on the floor. Since I was nearly finished, I decided to tie him at the bench in the front, and then another crew member came (in an almost apologetic way) to tell me that I would have to tie him outside. It was cold, he has short hair and he would either get stolen or freeze. I was probably looking very disappointed when she then went ahead and offered to finish shopping for me. Okay, let me repeat this: she offered herself to take over my shopping list (I had 5 items left). I just believed I was not dreaming because it was obvious that she meant it and she seemed pretty happy to offer me that, which was super sweet. So I took her offer and she even came back to suggest me replacements for things that were out of stock, before switching with me so I could check out. She was so, but so nice that I didn't resist it and got her flowers. And on my way out, when I met her outside with my dog, I said with a straight face: - You forgot about the flowers. "Flowers? But... Did you have flowers on your list?!" - Not really... But you should keep them, because they are for you! Man, she was so surprised/relieved/happy! I wish I had filmed it. It was awesome! Diandra, my darling, I can't tell you how lovely and wonderful you are. Love Trader Joe's!! Not only can you find organic items for a reasonable price, but their food products are actually a lot healthier compared to items from other supermarkets. After attending nursing school, I obsess over the nutrition label and I like to read all the ingredients. We've all heard the radio advisement from z100 - Rule of thumb, if you can't read the ingredients from the label (such as Sodium Dodecylbenzenesulfonate, Monosodium Glutamate, Maltodextrin, and etc), DON'T EAT IT!!! I was surprised that I didn't see any of these items, even in their process goods section. Lines are long but they go pretty quick since there are about 40 registers. 2 thumbs up! I love Trader Joes. I can't get enough of these guys. I usually go on Monday nights to avoid the major crowds and the food being sold out but somehow even when I went there on the night before that last blizzard and the crowds were so crazy that they had people lining up outside. Yes they really had people lining up outside(Velvet rope and the whole shebang) as if Trader Joes was the hottest club. But despite all that it's still worth it. The food is truly delicious. It's incredibly affordable yet gourmet at the same time. We eat Fettuccine Alfredo, Japanese fried rice, Tika Marsala, Linguine with clam sauce. We also love the eggplant Parmesan. Their goddess salad dressing is out of this world. Somebody was saying"Are they giving away food in there?" because of the lines wrapping around the block. The reason it is so worth it is the people are so friendly and they are always helpful. They always smile and talk to you and despite the lines being excessively long they have a system to keep people moving. So your never waiting as long as you think you will be waiting. They have like 40 cashiers. The prices for the food are just as good as ever. Sometimes I wonder for the prices they are selling this food at how is this store able to stay in business something of this size at those prices? But I guess they must being doing something right because they show no signs of slowing down. read more

What happened? Over the past few months, I will admit that I have been becoming irritated with Trader Joes and the issue of space and crowds. It had recently gotten to the point where I'd been (as well as other shoppers) unable to move through the aisles and look at what we want before actually buying it. Today, I decided to go in. It had been so crowded in this store, that I was unable to even get into the aisle I needed, let alone look at the products before tossing them into my cart. I became irritated, placed my cart back into the section and headed to KeyFood on Atlantic Avenue where I was able to shop in peace. **As I was coming back from KF, there was a line around the block at TJs. That's just ridiculous. It looked like a nightclub in the Meatpacking District! I am sorry. Trader Joes is a lovely store with great customer service. The food is decently priced but honestly, it's not worth the crowds. It's just one big headache. The other day I got into an argument with a woman because she blatantly stood in front of me (skipped) while we were on a crowded line. I told her off and she left, but not without giving me some attitude (grow up, maybe?) Maybe this is just a problem in TJ's NYC locations because I visited the one on the UWS and had to leave. I could barely walk anywhere in the store. I just want to add that I've been such a loyal customer of TJs. Oftentimes when I go to this location some of the employees have said, "Hey, it's you again!" But I am finding that other places have better products that last longer. The aisles are nice and big and they gave out samples of tomato soup that was comforting on a chilly day. I bought the tomato soup with red peppers some frozen panna cotta and artichoke ravioli. My only gripe was the lack of frozen foods due to a warehouse fire. I'll definitely be back to this location. read more

I revisited this Trader Joe's yesterday for a marketing presentation I am doing for class around 10AM and wow I couldn't believe how fast the line was and how crowded it was already. I finally took notice how personal, fun, and helpful their signs were. They really put a lot of creativity and thought behind their signs and marketing. Everything is fresh and affordable here. Although they are building another Trader Joe's at City Point on Fulton Street which should alleviate some of the crowdedness from the one in Cobble Hill, I honestly think they should open one in Bensonhurst. Was just here this morning and had my worst experience at Trader Joe's ever. The cashier was the rudest and most unprofessional cashier I've ever encountered in my life. Trader Joe's usually have some of the best customer service anywhere and yet this woman was hired when she's not up to par. When I approached her register, she was mid conversation with cashier across the aisle. I had to wait for their conversation to "end" before I was acknowledged. Then as she rang me up, she stuffed the 1st bag with heavy items and right before she stuffed it to the rim with another heavy item, I asked her to please start another bag. She looked really annoyed by that request and demanded I "explain why". She didn't ask- she said- "explain why". I was so flustered and taken aback by this attitude and I told her it's because I need the bags to fit under the stroller and also need to be able to carry the bags. Why do I have to explain that to her? It's simple common sense? Then to make it worse, she turned to her left and made eye contact with the cashier next to her and made a sound as if to suggest I was a crazy bitch to make that simple request. I was so uncomfortable I just wanted to get out of there. Unfortunately I needed to ask for assistance out to the street and that naturally prompted another look from her as if I was bothering her to do her job. She was the worst! I hope you're lucky enough to not have to deal with her at TJs. God forbid you ask her to provide customer service. read more

Much bigger Trader Joes than most locations. It's quite spacious, with the high ceilings and long aisles. It's very well organized and conveniently located on the corner of Atlantic Avenue. It's usually quite crowded and on off-days the line can get pretty long, but goes fast. They have everything you want for affordable prices, including organic items. There's always items on sale every week as well. Can't complain as the people who work here are efficient and nice. I tend to think of Trader Joes sometimes as the poor man's Whole Foods. Whole Foods are bigger, have more items, are more expensive, but have EVERYTHING you need including cooked food on the spot. Trader Joes though is not a bad second option OR not a bad first option for those working on a budget (like myself). read more

The workers and cashiers are very friendly and they're always in a good mood. They always ask how your day is going, and they are always there to help no matter what they're doing. I've never had a bad experience at any Trader Joe's but this location always seems to want to do more for their customers. Whew. I can breathe! ...At least a little more than I can in Manhattan. This place is such a breeze, compared to the Manhattan locations. It is a lot smaller and more condensed but overall, just so much better, with hardly any elbow rubbing. It's just as well-stocked as the other locations, neat and tidy with laid-back, nice workers--who doesn't love a TJ employee?! It's not exhausting and you don't have to spend most of the time waiting for other people to move in each aisle. It's easy to navigate through every aisle and I feel like I can finally see all the stuff they sell without running around in circles. The lines move a lot faster because you're separated into two lines, then 3.The only con about the location is that it's nowhere near a subway station. It's a hassle for me to come here but it's all worth it because the building is quite historical and beautiful and it's less stressful to shop at. read more

Excellent locale for weekly staples. You won't beat these prices (crisp, fresh, triple-washed arugula for $2). Sure, pending when you drop in you may be faced with long lines and depleted shelves but the store's staff is always cheerful and extremely helpful (to the point where you may forget, for just a moment, that you're in Brooklyn). I absolutely love trader joes stores but I love this location most because it's easily accessible for me - plus it's in Brooklyn. In the past I would have to travel all the way to Manhattan or queens for trader joes. At times I still visit the Manhattan location and I've noticed that since the Brooklyn store opened their never ending line has improved and decreased so much. This store also carries the same great products that any trader joes would carry but it feels a bit more spacious at this location. The lines can get long at times but nothing compared to how bad the lines where in the union square store before this location opened. In my opinion we could use at least one more location in Brooklyn. read more

I'm a Brooklynite and this was my first time in this supermarket, I kind of love it with the high Art architect windows it gives me the feeling it was a bank in the old school days, well any how I and my old school friend haven't seen each other in so long, so we came down to the Brooklyn heights -dumbo-fort Greene area we had dinner at a Thai restaurant then we went to haagan daas ice cream parlor in the area then after we walk from the Brooklyn promenade to trades joe supermarket. This supermarket is located near "The RealReal clothing-Fashion store" on court street. I usually get my organic -fruit juices at Family Dollar stores, like ocean spray and the Family Dollar store Brand at Family Dollar stores, but I'm glad I came here I bought some Trades joe juices brand: Mango Nectar , Watermelon Cucumber, Apple juice. there are pretty good I'll definitely would come back here. Big shout out to the sales associate "CAT" for ringing up my sales transaction at the cash wrap pretty cool name I told her I was the proud owner of a cat, and a next big shout out to sales associate "STAR", for helping us bring the groceries to the taxi upfront of the store, there even have a bench out front the store doors to sit down for cab-taxi to arrive. Once again, I try to get items from this particular Trader Joe's and they are out. I was able to get bathroom tissue, but only after I requested it from the back. They were entirely out of one type of cracker and also out of onion rings and a number of chips again. Yes, TJ's is good for bargains for some things, but I have never been able to purchase their coconut shrimp because they are constantly out and I never can get the chips or snacks that I want either. Maybe I am just spoiled, but when I go to the 14th Street TJ's they always seem to be stocked and, if they can't find me something on the shelves, then they go look for it. Also, they are more helpful about making the lines go faster in Manhattan. I don't know why exactly the service is so different from location to location. read more
