They have many healthy snacks and a wide variety of pasta, both frozen and dry. Love how big the ceilings are and how bright it is inside. I put about roughly 30 minutes in my meter and i walked in to what looked empty from the outside. Looks are deceiving. It was a mad house of people running into each other. But i focused on my tea bags and berries. I had the honors of being cashed out by Sebastian. Blonde hair and blue eyes ready to work at Abercrombie and Fitch. Lol. He is from South Africa and he's here supporting his wife on her endeavors. If someone has a hook up on flights he needs them to see his family every year! Well-stocked and much less of a sh*tshow than the Manhattan locations. They have all the usual goods: a produce section at the left (with meat at the back), a frozen aisle with cookies/sweets on top of the open display freezers, a cheese section with a small but pretty good selection, and many more packaged goods, the majority being private label. The best part is the line: there are three separate queues before reaching the 20+ checkout counters, and when I was ready to check out it was only 1-2 people deep. (I've long stopped shopping at the 14th St location because the line would wrap 'round and 'round for several aisles.) read more

My love for TJ is somewhat conflicted. They always have great dishes to make for 1, so I don't end up wasting food. The staff is nice & always helpful. I like this Trader Joe's and though lines are always long at these places - this place doesn't seem so bad. I wonder if it's the high ceilings or windows that let in a lot of light, but it's usually a nice experience here. The area has nice people, but it's located in a busy place so finding parking can be challenging on the weekends. So far this is the location where we've found some favorites that are so reasonably priced and usually in stock *crosses fingers hoping not to jinx myself* The lines can get long, but move quickly. The absolute best place or healthy products, totally blows Whole Foods away! The prices are actually good which is surprising for a store like this. I've become a regular lately and i even have my wife into their food. I've been regularly buying fully cooked edamamme, organic corn chips, pre-packaged romaine lettuce, TJ's jalapeno chicken sausage and much more. They have a ton of cash registers and a person at the front of the double line to direct you, so you get through everything pretty fast. Everyone who works there is extremely helpful and there is always free food samples by the coffee station. The only downside is the terrible parking situation in the area but it's not enough to negate a 5-star rating. read more

Great addition to the area. I go here often to shop . Be warned though many "Healthy foods" are actually just junk food. Go in for the cheese and frozen items for sure. Cooking for one? This is the place to buy your food then. Value for money to be sure. It would be nice to have one up in Bay Ridge. If you go after 8 pm its less packed . However, if you go to the union square location you might never want to go back to any TJs. Oh and be careful buying the salads. I broke a front tooth last week on a large piece of sand in an organic bag of romaine! Cost be big time to repair that. And yes that was grown in the lettuce, not washed out. Anyway, if you have a larger family, shopping here may not make sense as the meat prices are not that good nor is the quality. You will walk out with a bag of "Snacks" for 100$ read more

I love Trader Joe's ! They have so much great seasonal items I couldn't get enough of all of the pumpkin flavored and shaped foods. They also have great prices because almost everything in the store is the Trader Joe's brand. They get really busy but the lines go quick and they have people directing you which register to go to. read more

I see so many people complaining about the lines in trader joe's- however although yes, the line might get extremely long, it goes so quickly. There are constantly lots of people on registers so even when I have been way back in the line the most I've ever had to stand on line was like 20 minutes. That's not bad considering how long the line is and how packed it gets. The staff has always been super friendly and helpful. They keep the place really clean- things are easy to find. The organization of everything is great. I have no complaints. read more

I finally managed to visit this TJ's here in Brooklyn and I was a bit dissappointed at the size. The building's tall ceiling is very grand, however the foot print doesn't allow for a lot of groceries. Walking the pretty wide isles of TJ branded products I was a bit dissappointed I didn't see many regular name brand items. Albiet a lot of TJ's products are good, it's important for me to see brands I trust. Best part of TJ's is and have always been the affordability and two reasons why this isn't a 5 star review is the location (it's pretty far from the train station) and it's size. Friendly staff, great prices, and close to my house... but usually very crowded!! Nonetheless, I'm not gonna pay Garden of Eden and Key Foods prices on a regular basis, so Trader Joe's it is! As for selection, you never know what you will find at Trader Joe's, and that's kinda exciting to me! Sure, they have staples like veggies, meats, and canned good, but they always have something new to try! With that said, it's sometimes hard to find items you would expect and hope to find at a grocery store (example: ready-made pie crusts). Nonetheless, TJ's has a huge selection of organic and fresh products, so this is something I can forgive. Note that this particular TJ's is beautiful inside... and always very clean! How can someone not like Trader Joe's? And after spending the majority of my TJ visits to the Union Sq. location it was nice to visit this one and actually have some room to maneuver my cart. Pros: -The majority of the aisles are a bit wider which made it a lot easier to find items I was looking for. -The building itself is lovely... high ceilings make it feel larger overall. -TJ's always has great staff...this location is no different. -Easy to get to spot, right down the block from Borough Hall and not a bad walk from Atlantic Ave. Cons: -The snack/chip aisle is right next to the checkout line. If the line gets long and you've got a bunch of people looking for crackers or chips it gets reallllly tight. -The checkout line moves quick but the walkway down to the cashiers is also tight. If you're not watching where you're going you'll end up hitting someones cart or bags. Still love that there is a TJ's in Brooklyn. Wish we had another... read more

Aw, this used to be a bank...I would sometimes get money here....*tear crashes to the floor I like this TJ's. After almost a year of not coming here I went in the other day. It's way more spacious than others, which is good. I'm kind of taking a break from packaged food, but it's still a great go to for honey, salts and nuts. What gets me about this one is that last aisle near the register...I ALWAYS forget to look there and think they moved an entire aisle out of the store. Would have been 5 stars but the lines are just way too long. On the positive side, its cool that this location literally use to be a bank (high high high ceilings). In addition other positives: good inventory, fresh goods, good prices, ultra friendly and responsive customer service, has a bathroom and security guard. The big negative here are the lines. You need to get here early, especially on weekends. Its bad even when you try to go late just before closing because everyone in the neighborhood is in their gym clothes thinking the same thing going to Trader Joe's after their workout. read more

Too crowded, all the time! It's like Union Square now. I feel a little bad faulting them for this, because what can they really do about it. Wait, I know one thing. Bring back the express line, which they took out a couple months ago. It was always shorter, and that way there was only one enormous line plus one medium line snaking throughout the store. Now there are two, and it is so crowded that it is not only hard to shop, it's hard to even move without walking into someone. Half the time when I go there now, I see the crowd and go to Key Food instead. The staff is still nice and cool and cute, which can't be easy when they have to deal with such crowds. read more

What a great store, especially in this former bank building. Like other Yelpers I have to knock off a star due to the complications of Brooklyn. At certain times of the day this store is almost impossibly mobbed. The checkout line is tremendous, but amazingly moves fast. It's all worth it, Trader Joe's is my favorite grocery store in any city. I worked cleaning their floors in California when I was a teenager, the highlight of the day was sampling something for lunch. I am hooked for life. Unique, high quality items. I am a big fan of TJ's. The quality is high, the variety of items is great and the prices are surprisingly low. The staff are so friendly and down to Earth, I love them. The line looks long and intimidating but--relax--it is a single line feeding two dozen registers so it moves fast. They got me to start using reusable shopping bags and I even won the weekly lottery for a $20 gift certificate. Nice. If there is any downside it is their stuff is all store brand so if you have a favorite brand they do not have it. They may have their own version which may or may not be as good. They also have discontinued some of my favorite products. That is the way it goes. Fall in love at your own peril (RIP Ginger Soy Cod ). read more

It's a bit more compact than some and the lines can get kinda long on the weekends around lunch but hang in there, it'll move quick. Out of all the "specialty" grocery stores we've visited throughout the years, TJ's is by far the most reasonable when it comes to pricing and quality combined. They're not "out to get you" like Fairways. one of our favorite places to shop. The only draw back is that if you're a driving to Cobble Hill TJ's., finding parking is gonna be a challenge at times. No parking lot on premises. (If you're a local you have no worries.)..but, If you're pressed for time, you'll have to wait patiently for paid parking or try searching for free parking on the off-streets if you're fortunate. Small hassle. Other than that its a great neighborhood and worth shopping here. This particular TJ's is nestled on a nice corner in the Cobble Hill section of Brooklyn right off Atlantic ave on Court street. One thing I love about all TJ's is thst they're lines go super fast. I love love love trader Joe's and their products. Before moving to NY, I went weekly for a full grocery haul. But, shopping at this location is simply frustrating and not worth it. Whereas I normally would check out new products to try...and enjoy my shopping experience...here you have to know what you want and grab it quickly before holding someone else up. The line often wraps around the entire store, so you can't even get to many items without having to ask someone to move out of your way. I'm not sure how to fix these issues, but I hope they try! read more

The building is a renovated old bank. Ceilings are high. Despite how crowded it gets sometimes, it still feels spacious thanks to those high ceilings. There are 2 unisex bathrooms. The bathrooms are wheelchair friendly! Which is rare and nice. Cleanliness is... okay. Thankfully their bathroom is stocked with disinfectant alcohol sprays. read more

I go way out of my way every weekend to do my grocery shopping here. Trader Joe's in general is awesome, but this location is so great. It's gorgeous inside. The super high ceilings and windows always make the store seem open and airy, even when it's so crowded you can barely move. I've found the staff to be pretty helpful 99% of the time. The cashiers are ALWAYS friendly. A guy once gave me my string cheese on the house because I was wearing a Giants hat (hell yes!). They're good people. When you walk in sometimes the line makes you want to walk right back out but that thing moves fast. Once I was in line and it wrapped all the way around into the frozen food aisle (if you don't know the store- that's really, really, outrageously long)- and I made it to the register in 13mins. Yes, I timed it because I knew I'd be impressed. I'm only taking a star off because they've been out of certain items several times in a row recently (people really love that light mozz string cheese, I guess). It's always the same items that I'm looking for that are gone. And sometimes the cashiers forget to give you raffle tickets when you bring your own bags, and I usually don't remember to ask until I'm out of the store. Maybe if they let me win the raffle one week I'll add on that 5th star ;) read more

Probably the best Trader Joe's I've been to yet. The interior is extravagant from whatever used to occupy the location, but the Trademark Trader Joe's feel is omnipresent. The line might have 100+ people and wrap around the store but somehow I'll get through checkout in 15 minutes flat. The employees are kind and love giving recommendations to a confused cook (me). The customers are also some of the nicest I've encountered- I've made some wretched cart turns that played bumper cars with several customers on accident; I apologize and then they kindly take the apology- half the time we might chuckle about how my cart-eye perception is way off. That being said, I wish this place wasn't as crowded, but that's like wishing the food and experience wasn't as awesome. It'd be nice to have another Trader Joe's in Brooklyn. read more

I have always loved coming here, I have been buying my groceries here since they opened. One day I asked a worker when an item was and they completely ignored me, looked over me and pretended I wasn't there. What makes this store work well is the employees- extremely efficient and they do the best they can to ensure that the line moves as quickly as possible. Food wise, you can find pretty much any TJ item you are looking for. I wanted to try their cauliflower rice, and heard the frozen was the best option, but they only appeared to have the fresh version, so hey, at least I finally got to try caulirice. read more

I mean really, is it totally inconceivable that somewhere there's a team of lab coat-clad scientists staring at a wall of monitors, mumbling notes into hand-held voice recorders? Elderly woman just hit another shopper (female, mid-20s) with her cart, apparently to take last tub of mini chocolate chip cookies. Medical attention not required." "Day 719, 9 pm. Fighting in freezer aisle over mini-quiches. Check-out line approximately 300 ft , or 45 min wait time. Does shopper with raspberry pastrami popovers in his cart know that it is one of our many 'joke items?'" And so on! This is real Advanced Seminar in Human Behavior shit, don't you think? The lengths to which people are willing to wait and moral depths to which they're willing to stoop for cheap weird groceries is truly staggering. Moreover, the staff are just way too nice and happy not to be secretly in on the scheme. I simply can't fathom that anyone in the known universe is that cheerful at their job, especially when that job involves re-stocking Clif Bars. And yet, I'm totally happy to take the Blue Pill, here. As long as there are dried peaches, $5/lb triple-cream brie, and frozen chicken enchiladas in salsa verde, I'll be a willing participant in the experiment. So, this was the first time I've tried Trader Joe's. I'm not sure if they are all created equal. The good: the prices were very reasonable. Everyone kept telling me, try Trader Joe's you'll see the prices are good. We are always on a budget... And I was not disappointed. I was happy with the choices of meat. And very happy with the TJ Coffee for $6.99! Unfortunately the selection wasn't good enough to justify me driving from Bed Stuy and find parking. The bad: This place was small.... From the outside I was like, hell yeah! This place is gonna be two stories and huge. Ummm. No. It's like a tremendous waste of space. For such a huge building it really makes the store seem even smaller, to me anyway. The produce section was teenie tiny, the isles were skinny, there isn't enough room for everyone in Brooklyn to shop. The ugly: People. Come the fuck on. Do you really need to stop your cart in THE. MIDDLE. OF. THE. ISLE. and then WALK OFF over to whatever section of the store you're headed to? I should empty your entire cart just to make you have to gather it all up again. People can be so inconsiderate! Also the Stock boys...!! Please don't all three of you block the isle at once to talk about your party last night when I'm trying to get to the last frozen cheese pizza. Also there were 800 Avocado's....I really don't think at 530pm you need to restock any more when everyone and their aunt is getting off of work and heading straight to the produce. Alright, TJ's, you're winning. I'm in the middle of turning the extra room in my apartment (yes, you read right) into My Sanctuary. You see, my girlfriend and I live with two other people. So if the lady is watching reality TV or sleeping in the bedroom, and the living room is full of people, but I just want to chill by myself or with a buddy or two, I have nowhere to go. So we made sure to get an apartment with an extra bedroom. So, thus My Sanctuary. It's got a sofa bed, for guests, or for when I snore my girlfriend awake, or for when I can't bear for Billdozer to leave. It's got lots of arts on the wall, including a late 70's poster of Farrah Fawcett. It's got a desk, and will have a tv and dvd player. Last summer I purchased one of those huge industrial fans from my friend for a dollar, and it will have that as well. When it's August, I want it to be goddamn windy in there. Windy. But something was missing. I wasn't sure what it was until shopping in Trader Joe's one night. There, in front of me, was something called "Simpler Times", a delightfully named 6.2% lager for under $4 a six-pack. That's what I needed! Cheap beer. In a mini-fridge. I just got the mini-fridge with Andy L and his truck, and we've already discussed what kinds of stickers we want on it. We've decided on "Go Metric!" and "If you think this is bad, you should see my wife!", but we're definitely open to more suggestions, as well as other suggestions for My Sanctuary.
