I'm not really one to rave about any grocery store, nor about any sort of chain...but Trader Joe's is kind of great. You can just buy a whole load of tasty groceries at a good price. Everything is fresh and cheap. I went in on a Saturday, so the line was a bit long, but it moved amazingly quickly, and along the way, a nice lady gave me a tiny little cup of tasty turkey chili! With cheddar and sour cream! I love her. The staff is almost weirdly nice. And I like that they list their hometowns on their nametags. The cashier humored me when I talked about how a good friend of mine was also from Norfolk, VA. as well. Me: Hey! My buddy Reed is from Norfolk. Him: Reed. I'll be sure to look him up next time I go home. Me: Right, sorry. I'll go kill myself.* My girlfriend's purse was in our cart, blocking him from ringing up some of the groceries. How Trader Joe's managed to score this historic bank building is beyond me, but I'd be hard pressed to deny the fact I wasn't charmed by it. Atypical in every way, this TJ's makes me wish there was something like it in Queens. It might just be my favorite TJ's anywhere. Like all others, the bank version of TJs has reasonably priced organic stuff, killer customer service and an abundance of inventory. Due to the venue, it's also one of the more spacious TJ's with wider aisles and easy to read layout. So what's not to like? For starters, the crowds. The queues can get a bit much sometimes, but the weekend lines are daunting for first time visitors. Try to avoid the rush hour of grocery shopping, which is basically any time 5pm. Shoot for a week day if at all possible and get an idea of all the things you'll need (i.e. a list) because casual browsers may end up here longer than they want. read more

I love this store they have anything...and everything you need at a reasonable cost. It's cheaper than Whole Foods and a great place to buy anything from produce to spices.. and household needs. Staff is really efficient and lines move very quickly. Highly recommend shopping here. AVOID COMING ON WEEKENDS. Trader Joe's is a chain of specialty food stores originally from Monrovia, California. As of 2013 they now have 408 stores nationwide. One of these stores is in Cobble Hill in Brooklyn. You can find most of the day to day things that you need here, from cooking ingredients, frozen aperitif, nibbles, breakfast meals, fresh flowers and orchids, veggies and fruits. Most items are frequently replenished, but for something a little bit more exotic maybe look some place else. The one thing that really stands out here are the staff. They excel in customer service. Try to avoid coming here on weekends if you value your personal space. It can get very crowded anytime during the day. The queue can snake all the way to Atlantic Avenue. In fairness, the staff work tirelessly to ease the long line. My only disappointment from this store is that, they do not sell wine. You will have to go to the specialty Union Square branch to get some. read more

Best supermarket ever! I recently started shopping here and I can not beleive that it has taken me this long to step foot in this place. Why has no one put me on to Joes long ago? Shame on everyone. For those that do not know: 1. The majority of the items are organic and if you need gluten free, vegetarian, or Kosher selection you will find it. 2. Very inexpensive. I recently left with four or five huge bags for 80 bucks..try that at your local market. 3. Wide variety of unique and very tasty items not found elsewhere. 4. They do cool things such as raffles for free shopping, will bring your bags to your car if needed, and coolest of all...if you buy something you do not like simply return it..no questions asked. (I vaguely recall coming in here once on a Saturday and it was a zoo as per usual.) Of course the fact that it was 11:30am on a Tuesday probably had something to do with it...I had an appointment in the area and decided to take advantage of the off hour to pick up some things. I also like the architecture here...since once upon a time it was a bank the ceilings are vaulted and it seems light and airy. Despite Trader Joe's unique quirkiness, there's a certain charm about them. I like to come in here once in a while to check out their products which I find interesting. Their products are something I normally don't find at my local supermarket so walking around Trader Joes is always a pleasurable one. Even though, I don't really buy much, I think most of their products are catered to those who prefer popping their food in the microwave or an oven for a quickie. Nonetheless, I still find their food tasteful because whenever I visit my friend's home, she always serves us Trader Joe's food for her parties. Aside from their food, the store is also located in a gorgeous landmark building that is breathtaking and beyond grandioso. Their ceiling and windows are absolutely HUGE and best of all, unlike the one in Union Square, this one has a bathroom!! If I may digress, I always feel having a bathroom is a major plus because it's the epitome of a store's respect for their customers and it makes the experience so much sweeter, especially when nature calls. read more

Any hope of me not starving while living in the city is riding on this place. I never knew how great it truly was until I was hit with sticker shock at my grocery store across the street. These prices were insanely higher than what I was expecting and that's when Trader Joe's down the street came to rescue me. I went later in the day so there was lots of restocking being done, along with lots of items missing. That didn't stop me from filling up my two shopping bags with lots of goodies from apples to hummus to a tasty guacamole with pico de gallo on top. I wanted to try their Greek yogurt to see how it'd compare to the other brands and wasn't too impressed, but can be picky when it comes to items like that! Their frozen food selection was especially impressive and from Indian to Chinese, you can find something easy to whip up in no time. The lines moved fast and all of the workers were really friendly, always asking if there was anything that I needed and directing me to certain items. The people around me shopping were also relatively pleasant, making my multiple scans of the aisles easy to bare. I'll definitely be back here on a weekly basis to fill up on those staples at an affordable price. This Trader Joe's is in a extremely high volume area just due to the businesses in the area & residents who live in the area. The first time I came here after 5pm on a week day, it looked like the day before thanksgiving in here. I could barely shop due to how crowded it was. I have co-workers who come in here all the time during their mid day lunch breaks, so I'm assuming maybe during the day it's not too bad. The other day I came in here after 5pm I was able to move comfortably through the aisle, but rather crowded as ever or not, the good thing is the line does move fast during check out, so don't let the wrap around line for check out discourage you. I can come in and get up to two weeks of groceries for under $100, which was just a dream before I found Trader Joe's. My only suggestion for people shopping here is look at the expiration dates because they don't seem to remove products from the shelves until the actual date.. doing this while inside the store will avoid any "oh shit"/ "dammit!" moments when you finally get home. They have a lenient return policy but lets face it, no one wants to have to face the crowd if they don't have to. This Trader Joe's is near another Brooklyn location, but if you live in Brooklyn and have to go a little farther, go here instead. There is enough space to shop, for one. Also, even though the line seems long, there are usually many cashiers working, and the line goes quickly. I've noticed some recent issues with items out of stock, but this seems to be a nationwide problem at many different stores. Definitely annoying, however. One other minor criticism and the main reason I'm writing today after seeing an "incident": security staffing in the store probably needs to be increased. This store could stand to add a few more security staff members. Otherwise, this is a solid Trader Joe's and the best one in Brooklyn. read more

This was the first Trader Joe's I shopped at since moving to Brooklyn from the west coast. Living in Brooklyn (or NYC in general) is by no means cheap, so it was nice to have a reliable place to shop for affordable groceries like I was used to back home. For first-timers, the check-out line here is long and can intimidating, but the staff here manages to shepherd customers in and out with reasonable efficiency. They are also very helpful, in spite of the store's shortcomings. The layout of this particular location is less than ideal. For starters, there's a divide between the produce/meat section and the rest of the store, which creates two chokepoints in a high-traffic area, one of these chokepoints being at the intersection of where the check-out line diverges and the sample station. When it gets busy, there is little distinction between the people in the checkout line and those actively shopping, even when there is an employee bearing a big "Line Stars Here" flag. I've also noticed that this location is occasionally understocked, and I've come here unable to find basic items such as fruits/vegetables on a few occasions. Although it is unfair, I can't judge this Trader Joe's solely on its merits as it won't escape comparison to my experiences at other Trader Joe's locations throughout the country. Ever since the newer location on Gold St. opened, I've been doing most of my shopping there, as it is more conveniently located by the subway and offers a more streamlined experience. If they one day draw my name in the reusable bag raffle and call me, I'll come back and tack on an extra star (or two) to this review. read more

It's really such a pleasure to shop here. Located at an optimal and easily accessible corner in Cobble Hill, this location puts you within arms reach of a lot of great stores. The interior of the building is enough to make you want to poke around in there, whether you're making a purchase or not. This Trader Joe's location was originally the first & oldest bank in Brooklyn. It's beautiful... just walk in & look up - you'll be thankful you did. Run like a well oiled machine, no matter how many people are shopping at any given time, you're bound to spend a short amount of time in line. They've got it down to a science. This is one of the best of the Trader Joe's but as a result it is also often one of the more crowded. That said, they keep the checkout line moving and are never too busy to help you. And unlike the Trader Joe's on the Upper Westside, here they have complimentary coffee and tea samples while you shop! Because Trader Joe's uses the same successful formula at each of their stores, you should find shopping here enjoyable thanks to the quality of their products and because they don't "adjust" prices from store to store. If you never have been to a Trader Joe's, this is a good one to begin at because it is easy to maneuver and well stocked (even if they were out of 6 oz blueberries last night :-). If you drive here, parking can be a challenge but it is so close to so many subway and bus lines why would you...well I guess because getting your stuff home might be easier. read more

Yes the lines can be long, and yes it really helps if you know exactly where everything you need is located so you can minimize movement around the store during busy times, and also strategize shopping while in line (key) during busy times. But even at its busiest, when the line is wrapped all the way around the store and back to the frozen food aisle, it moves pretty quickly. Today I was only in that line about 10 minutes before getting to the register even though I started back near the frozen pizzas. The prices are low, and with only one or two rare exceptions, the staff is amazingly friendly considering the chaos they work in. Love that I live only a short walk away, this is my go to place for groceries, despite the busyness. Four stars for the Atlantic Ave Trader Joe's. 3 stars for the customer base. Its a small-ish, slightly awkward Trader Joes. The personnel are good. Stock is iffy. But its not the smallest or the most crowded in the city. For that, take a look at the Queens location on Metropolitan. It manages more customers in a smaller space. Three stars for the customers....because....whats wrong with them? Don't they know how to share space with others? Are they all from rural locations and don't know any better? Because they're standing in the middle of the aisles. Ignoring the words "excuse me" from others trying to get by. Causing a log jams at the exit while putting away their carts. They get to the front of the cart line and - knowing there are people behind them - they decide that NOW is their chance to block the exit further while laughing and joking about shopping carts. (and store personnel did not put an end to the nonsense). I'm not objecting to the talking and laughing. I'm objecting to people completely blocking the exit area. There would have been more than enough space for everyone if they had just moved over a little. ( I didn't even have a cart.) You and your friends should not be standing and talking in a circle at the exit. Take it to the side. Take it outside. Don't stand in the middle of the aisle while discussing which product to get. Thats rude. Move to the side. You wouldn't suddenly stop your car it in the middle of the street and just sit there blocking traffic, right? When you're on the road and you see your friends cars, you don't just pull them into a circle, block traffic, and start chatting, do you? Use the same sense when you're in a store. read more

Trader joes, please don't ever close!!! This location of trader Joe's is my favorite location of them all. It just feels like home to me and the setup is the best out of all the ones I have been to. I love trader Joe's in general, the idea of healthy and organic food for a way cheaper price than other grocery stores makes me VERY happy. Now let me give you my list of faves that I feel you must try: The everything but the bagel seasoning! Seriously can't deny this grocery store. Although they do not have everything I need, they do have the fresher avocado I can find in Brooklyn. I come ones a week to stock up on Avocados, pepper tomato wraps and grilled chicken. I'm trying to eat healthier while saving a buck and trader Joe's does help with that. the other thing I love are the tamales they have in the produce section, super delicious on those days you want something good but not to much. My mom loves to come and pick up peanuts and cereal, sometimes we splurge and get the French vanilla ice cream... Don't tell my diet! the only thing I can do without is the narrow lines for check out, but hey they move pretty quickly so i guess i can't complain to much. read more

This Trader Joe's location is my go to one. I used to go to the TJ at Union Square but man I hated it! It's probably one of the busiest ones and it's pretty small. Now this location is so much better. The B63 is right on the corner which is super convenient and its a bigger store than in Union Square. I find this to be the cheapest option for a grocery store "conveniently" located in my area, which good produce. Trader Joe's doesn't have as much variety as Whole Foods or other supermarkets(for example they don't sell dry yeast) but it has most of what we use on a daily basis, plus more during the holidays/ special seasons. The products are fresh and stocked throughout the day. If you come here past 7 pm you will find they are out of a lot of produce because everything is delivered daily. This is a great concept, yet most people shop after those hours during the week... which is very annoying when all you want is cucumbers, lettuce and avocados and they are out. As at any Trader Joe's, the lines get super long and it's hard to maneuver when the line starts at the entrance to the store. Also I avoid this place at all costs during the weekend. If you do come during the weekend, come as early as possible. read more

Disappointed in how this store is handling the COVID situation. I've been to this store twice now and both times, it is over crowded and I felt unsafe. The employees are not monitoring the number of shoppers going in the store or reminding customers to keep a safe distance. Some of the registers should be closed to abide by the pandemic rules but ALL of the registers are open and it is way too over crowded during checkout. Bring hand sanitizer with you because they are NOT sanitizing the carts or baskets. The packaged produce kits were wilted and still full on the shelves when there were a group of employees just chatting in the aisle. I will mention that the employees at the register are very friendly and helpful and we did get assistance with the bags to our car. read more
