Falafel mix is a go! They taste super flavorful and there's multiple ways to cook them. We didn't want to make a mess with the oil so we chose the baked option and they turned out crunchy on the outside and slightly soft on the inside. They're not super crunchy but still have a texture difference and crumbled into three parts-ish per falafel. Each box can probably make 30 falafels. I shopped there this evening and everyone seemed to be so helpful and I truly appreciated that as I had been going through some challenging times to take care of my dog...except for an employee I believe who actually allowed the cart to go freely towards my direction and it hit me on my left arm which protected my stomach area and I see now it is swollen and if it still hurts between now and Monday, I am going to have to get to see the doctor about it. I come to this Trader Joe's every week for the past 2 years & never had a terrible experience. Though today doesn't outweigh the majority of experiences. I had a cashier named Robin check me out, usually TJ employees are very kind and talkative but Robin must I've been having a bad day. I wanna give her the benefit of the doubt though there wasn't a single word or look exchanged. Robin lifted & turned my reusable cold bag upside down where all of the contents came smashing down into my cart. Also tossing aside extra plastic grocery bags I had in the reusable bag. Robin was mumbling under breath, it couldn't have been more clear how I unwelcomed I was at her register. I immediately sensed the kind of vibes I'd get from a Walmart, so I kept quiet and my head down. Another employee nearby the registers was I believe was watching & came over to help bag, she was nice but I just smiled put my head back down. I put my CC in the machine when I assumed Robin was done scanning and was ready on her end, still not a single interaction was made. Another TJ worker came to chat with Robin before I received my receipt and seemed to be concerned about her upset mood. She mumbled in agreement. I left and that was the end of that, I cried in the TJ parking lot for a solid 20 minutes... which is something i do in Walmart parking lots... not TJ. Struggling with social anxiety is my own personal issue but it really wasn't my most favorite TJ interactions. read more

Went to Trader Joe just before the rainstorm to get snacks. The parking was plenty and early in the day the store was not packed with people.The amount of ready made foods is just amazing. Got readymade frozen foods, smosas, seasme covered cashews, classic greek salad,potate chips, veggie masala burgers and these are delecious. Trader Joe's has indeed kept up with the Pandemic~I find their lines outside weren't as long as that from Chino Hills' branch for some reason. Usually the employees are super nice but today I went early, around 9-9:30. I was rung up by a middle aged white woman, medium length auburn/blonde hair. She didn't even smile at me, at the end of the transaction I thanked her and told her to have a good day and I didn't even receive a response. If this was a teenager at a fast food chain I wouldn't care, but there is a clear defined standard for customer service at Trader Joe's that this grown employee did not meet, not at all a good way to start my day. read more

I stopped by the local Trader Joe's for some quarantine essentials (aka my favorite snack food) this past weekend, and was shocked by the general cleanliness of the store, the peppy customer service, and the overall organization. The Brea location is handling the pandemic in strides, with a limited number of shoppers allowed inside at once, and a check-out that insures social distancing. I was also shocked to see that the shelves were fully stocked with all my favorite items. They've managed to prevent hoarding with 2-item limit per person - both cases of water and TP were still available! Kudos to TJs for providing a stress free shopping environment during this craziness. By limited the number of people inside, you keep more distance from others and don't feel like you need to rush. And by limiting quantities on hot items you keep more in the shelf for others. The alcohol spray and the cart wipe down are also greatly appreciated. I'm pretty sure every Trader Joe's has a dangerous parking situation, but the Brea store is maybe one of the worst I've experienced. I'd advise parking by Baja Fish Taco and walking, but even that is a risk as drivers lose their mind in figuring out who goes first and when at the four way intersection to the light. If you make it inside of the store it's all great. This store feels a bit bigger than other Trader Joe's and things are easy to get to. I'm here mainly at lunch time for their salads and to pick up a few groceries and although it's busy, the lines move fast. One other note, they don't allow video recording or photography of any kind; there's a sign up front. read more

Apparently when my kid goes to bed, instead of binge watching Netflix, I write yelp reviews. I moved to Brea during Covid, so I don't have much to say about shopping here during that time. But I do live really close by and I come here every other day, if not everyday. The staff are awesome! They are always friendly and I come in with my 3yo son a lot and they always give him stickers. Some even let him ring the bell. He loves shopping with those cute little kids shopping carts and the checkers are always so kind in letting him help with the groceries. That alone makes my whole shopping experience worthwhile! I really enjoy shopping at smaller stores because it's less overwhelming for me. I like the layout of the store and I have my grocery list organized by the store layout. The only downside is as some have mentioned, the parking lot. I go when all of the stay at home moms go, so parking isn't usually an issue for me. But I have gone during their busier times and it's just one of those things where you have to pay really close attention because it's a really small parking lot and there's no real way for pedestrians to get into the store safely unless you get a spot at the very front. I was looking over a lot of the negative reviews and I think that because TJ's has such an awesome culture, the bar is set really high. At the end of the day, I think it's important to remember that they are just people too and can have good days and bad days. I am a regular shopper there and I can only go based off my experience. I can say that all of the staff are consistently doing their jobs and I've never had a bad experience. Keep up the great work Brea TJ's! I'll probably be in there tomorrow read more

Not worth getting in a car accident to pick up a few groceries. On a Monday afternoon the parking lot was chaos with people honking and almost hitting cars and pedestrians. The person hired to control the traffic in the lot was ignoring it all..texting on his phone. I took the photo and showed the Crew Leader and said "Whatever you are paying him..it is too much.." He did go out after I told him but I am a customer; he should be monitoring the parking lot for safety issues and making sure people are doing their job and not on their phones..not me. He gets the paycheck . Also, he parks right in front of the store taking up a parking space for customers. All other TJ employees park at a distance, away from the entrance, leaving the parking spots open for shoppers. read more

It's amazing that no one seems to be leaving reviews about the real problems with this place. I love Trader Joe's, don't get me wrong. They have a lot of my favorite foods. But even at the best of times, there always seem to be stockers shoving past you in the evenings like you have no right to be there. It was bad enough feeling like they thought customers were a necessary evil they only tolerated so that they could indulge their gargantuan thirst for shelving things, but then we got ourselves a pandemic. So when Covid hit, they did alright for a while; for a precious small span of time they had limited numbers in the store, clean carts, socially distanced checkout and mandatory masks. But for the last several months, you have clean carts and friendly greetings and then you're launched into the gauntlet to struggle for even 3 feet of space, much less 6, while trying to reach the peppers and bananas (dangit I forgot the bananas in all the pandemonium), until you finally struggle to the socially distanced checkout where I'm sorry to say, the once friendly checkers tend to ask a couple of needed questions and largely ignore you until they say a terse goodbye. I'm fine with the most basic civility. Overly friendly checkers creep me out anyway (did I ask you to use my first name, kid?) and I get that it sucks working retail right now (make that always), so I'll give the checkers a pass. But going to a store well before closing and having to dodge many, many employees along with customers who don't seem to care whether they live or die and who are being allowed into the store as fast as they can enter... it's not worth it. Those favorite foods they have? I can get pretty good ones elsewhere and not feel like I'm in a mosh pit full of bees. I'm at least gonna try another location. Maybe they won't fill me with a terrible rage and I can get my salsa verde and flax chips and stress eat in peace. read more

Sometimes having delicious food is hard to find but when you go to Trader Joes it seems like you can pick up anything and it will turn out delicious. Like just recently we bought a whole stock of Brussels sprouts. I've never seen it like this in my life. After cooking it with a little bit of spices it tasted soo delicious and yummy!! MmMm just writing about it, I feel like going back to Trader Joes to buy fresh vegetables. What I also love about this store is it isn't soo huge that you can't find anything. It is a cute little store with many workers that will help you out and even share recipe tips !! Fresh potted herbs for under $5! Tis the season to be growing almost anything in this nice sunny weather! if you're a beginning gardner like me, you'd start with something very simple like basil and mint. Really, VERY easy to grow and take care of! I've used the Jiffy pellets to grow herbs starting from a seed but when I noticed the abundance potted herbs sitting outside this market, I had to grab one! A week later I went to get more only to find out that they were all sold out. They said another shipment should be coming in soon. I bought the potted basil plant for $4.99 and the Mint potted plant for $2.49. Great deal! The cashiers are always very friendly and love to make small talk with you. Extra friendliness just wants you to shop here even more! Love their prices on avocado's where you get 4-5 in a bag for less than $5 during off avocado season and around $3 something during avocado season. Banana's are cheap too! Always fresh fruits and vegetables at a reasonable price. Parking can get crazy during peak hours! read more

Good overall chain, However they do need to step up their safety protocols for customers waiting in line to enter the store due to covid 19 measures. The customers behind me got too close for comfort and I asked them to back up due to social distancing rules and the female got aggressive. There was security guards outside but they were completely disengaged. Also, customers have to line up in the middle of the road with traffic and that is not safe I called the manager Marty and asked that he establishes safety protocols for customers and put up signs asking guests to consider covering their faces to protect store staff and customers ,since that is not a mandated law in Orange County yet. read more

Today I was shopping with my newborn and toddler who went from excited to get his own shopping cart to a level 10 meltdown in a matter of minutes. This is a HUGE shout out to the worker Kyle who came over and offered him some stickers and a lollipop and completely changed his mood so I was able to finish shopping and leave and I literally started to get teary-eyed at how kind the was. Such a kind gesture to help out while all the other old people just looked at me and said wow you got your hands full. Give the man a raise!! What an incredible human. I'm a little disappointed about how one of the leads handled my experience. I ate the truffle pizza for the first time and unfortunately I have terrible allergic reaction. I started getting red itchy bumps on my face and now day three it has traveled all the way down my body to my feet. Hopefully it doesn't get worse. It is not Trader Joe's fault for something I may be unknowingly allergic to but it was how the lead handled the situation. I came in today to just ask a lead if anyone has had a reaction to the pizza. His response lacked compassion and just repeated that "when you get older your body changes you might just get allergic to something you are unaware of" I know there's not much he can say but his demeanor made me feel that my allergic reaction was my fault and kinda like oh well! Didn't ask what kind of reaction I had, or how serious it was. I will still continue being a customer but maybe look for a different lead if my allergy progresses. My mother shared that she is feeling fine today but that yesterday she had chemo. Michael shared some sweet encouraging words with my mother. After checking out her groceries he gave her a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Michael made my mother's day and rest of the week!!! I am rating that much bad due to the rude attitude of one of the cashier staffs. I went there before new year. There was a lady as a cashier who was almost 45 years old, tall with long blonde hair. What I noticed, she was making fun of customers as soon as they stopped to her station. Also she was kinda racist. As soon as she noticed that I am not American she started acting like I am stupid and I do not understand english, which is none of her business! I just wanted to give that review to remind all staffs of Trader Joe's that you are not allowed to be that much rude to anyone. It does not matter what nationality someone has!
