There was also another staff member that had a very horrible cough and no mask on. I made it a little early and wasn't seen at the time of my appointment. I used one of their pens to complete forms and they weren't disinfecting after every usage. Same for the clipboard. Being a medical eye doctor office you'd think sanitizing would be a must. I hate getting sick and as I waited there I decided to just leave and not be seen. It's a nice place but no sanitizing and sick people freaked me out. This made me wonder if they ever wipe down after every patient.

It was easy enough to walk in and request an appointment- they can tell you right there if your insurance will help with payment or not. The day of appointment, you just fill out your intake form like any other place, and the wait time is not long. You can start looking for glasses/frames while you wait. The doctor is nice and she's thorough. After she's done, you can take time to look at frames again and then make your choice and payment. They offered me a copy of my prescription, I didn't even have to ask- which is nice in case I wanted to get frames somewhere else. They do have decent frames- but if you want more choices of frames or more choices for prices it's nice to take your prescription with you. I recommend.

I even left my sunglasses with them during the replacement as reference to the type of lenses I already had. During my visit, the assistant appeared visibly overwhelmed and distracted, even discussing an issue about being off by a dollar on an invoice in front of other patients. Dr. Shelley even said that she will give her the dollar she was missing. This raised concerns about attention to detail at the time, which unfortunately proved valid. When my order came back weeks later, the lenses were made as regular clear lenses instead of sunglasses, which was not what I requested. While the office did refund my out-of-pocket payment, they refused to reverse or void the insurance claim for the lenses--even though the error was entirely on their end. This is not just a simple mistake; it directly affects my annual insurance allowance and prevents me from using those benefits correctly elsewhere. I would expect a provider to take full accountability, including correcting any insurance billing errors they caused. I'm requesting that the office work with the insurance company to reverse or adjust the claim, or otherwise make this right by restoring the benefit that was used incorrectly. Until then, I cannot recommend this office based on my experience.

The phone disconnected. This is probably a bad sign. I can't imagine being a patient with issues and dealing the issues of not being able to contact anyone on the other phone line. Perhaps this is a big red flag. I would just take caution with this location, be careful, and find a second and third opinion or business. Look into the differences between the doctors and the front desk services.

I went in for my yearly eye exam, and realized that I needed a slightly updated prescription for my regular glasses. Forgetting that I had already used up my insurance on the sunglasses from July, I put an order in for updating my regular glasses. I was planning on using my existing frames, but even so, it was going to cost me $240, since insurance wasn't going to pay until this July. Because I'm kind of an idiot, I paid the amount in full, and then went about my business shopping around the mall. But then it dawned on me. "240?! I've never paid that much for glasses! And I'm not even getting new frames! Oh no, oh no, what do I do?!" I called the office right away, and Lisa Goldman (the super nice lady that checked me in for my appointment) answered, and told me that I could come back in and talk to her about it. I ran back and told her that $240 was way too much money for me to pay right now for a 'slightly' updated prescription, and I would rather wait until I was eligible to be covered by my insurance again. First, she looked through all the discounts and sales that could be applied to my lenses, and found out that I could get them for $144. I pondered that for a minute, but then told her that I would prefer to just come back in July. She made absolutely NO fuss about it, and refunded me right away, while saying, "Don't worry. Whatever you're comfortable with!" I appreciated her assistance so much. I felt like a fool for paying without thinking about what I was doing in the first place, but she totally understood and didn't question me further. I had went to the emergency room at my local hospital and they were not able to diagnose my condition. Delta Eye Medical Group was able to schedule me the same day and most importantly able to diagnose my condition.
