One star is one too many!
Let me tell you about my awful experience with this place.
About 2 weeks ago we were having a lot of rain and some of my animals needed to be moved, as there was a water issue. I figured I would run to Tractor supply and take a look at what they had that could help me move my animals.
Many months ago TS changed their hours to close at 8 pm and being that I work in Montgomeryville area, it takes me about 30 min or so to get up there, and I end up having to leave work early to make it on time before they close, and that's still cutting it close.
I got to the store approx 15 min prior to closing. Filled my cart up with feed and some other items and went right out to take a look at the fencing, etc. in the yard which was outside. It was raining, and cold and it was very difficult to read the prices and figure out what cost what. Should I buy a roll of fencing and build a temporary pen or just go with one of the kennels? After looking them over, I decided to buy one of the smaller kennels 6'x5' which I believe was $339. I have no idea how much time had passed, I heard no announcement that the store was closing, or otherwise.
To my surprise, when I attempted to go back inside the store..the door was locked! They had locked me out as they must have been in a mad rush to get out of there and didn't even bother to check the yard for customers before locking the door! Who doesn't love being locked outside in the rain? There was no option for me to get out, unless I wanted to scale the fence, which for me would have been darned near impossible. After searching for another way out, I banged on the door loud enough for someone to hear me, and finally they came to open the door. Now the kid who opened the door had a bit of an attitude, as I told him I wanted to buy the kennel out there, he was quick to tell me they were closed and had already shut down the cash registers, and much to my chagrin, he offered no apology for my having been locked outside in the yard.
I grabbed my cart and wheeled up to the front register, where the night manager Bill, and cashier Judy, were. They both had nasty looks on their face, and again, gave me more of the same bad attitude. They offered no apology for the lockout, and seemed pissed off at me, like it was my fault that I got locked out. As irritated and bothered by it all as I was, I remained calm and told Bill that I wanted to buy the kennel out there. He quickly began moping and whining about it, as he told me they already locked the gate. After he did his little whine routine, I became even more shocked and appalled. Not only was he not apologizing for the massive oversight that just happened, but now he was complaining about having to help me as a customer! It's just unbelievable! I can't describe how this made me feel..the way Bill acted, his attitude, body language, tone of his voice, et al. Horrible! I've never experience anything so awful, so unprofessional, SO RUDE!!! in all my life!!! The situation could have been A LOT worse... a few more minutes and I might have been sleeping out in the yard all night! Imagine if there were children or someone else out there, and they locked them out. I don't want to think about it.. it's just unacceptable.. no one should ever be locked out. They obviously cared more about getting out of the joint, than following proper protocol with customer safety in mind.
So having become even more incredibly disgusted with the whole situation, and this display of unprofessional, rude, discourteous behavior--I promptly told Bill to forget it... Just forget the kennel.. And Judy was not much better. She's never exactly been very friendly in all the times I've been to TS, and tonite she was at her worst. With a cocky, demeaning attitude, she hastily totaled the items on my card and read out my total in a very fast, condescending manner.
As I paid her, I began to vent my frustration with Bill, giving him a piece of my mind. I explained the least he could have done was apologize, and bend over backwards to help me, especially given the major screw-up that had just occurred.
Obviously they did not want my money--which is mind boggling in this economy. I can go spend it somewhere else!
The icing on the cake was that neither Bill nor Judy moved an inch to help me leave either. They just stood there idling.. as I walked away.. I couldn't get out the front door either, as it had already been locked, and nobody came over to help me get out!!! I was able to turn the knob and unlock the door, and then pull it apart with my bar hands, as the automated opening mechanism had been shut off for the night, and then repeat for the outer door.
What a freakin disaster! I called the company main number and filed a complaint and nobody has returned my call. Shows what kind of a company TS really is! Stay far away and take your money somewhere else! read more
