Love this store. My husband and I were in recently to look for a wading pool to use as a ball pit for my autistic support classroom. We had the pleasure of working with Bob. Bob took the time during what appeared to be a very busy inventory delivery to ensure that not only did I get the item I came for but that I got a larger very slightly damaged pool for free! My husband had several questions about items he was looking to purchase and Bob explained the pros and cons of the items and allowed my husband to make a more educated purchase. This store is not close to our home but we will be coming back for now on whenever we need something. It is refreshing to shop in a store where you feel like the people who work there really care about you and your purchases. You can't get that on the internet. Patty F. read more

I bought the wrong screws for my shower handle. The gal at Ace helped me get the right one and the cashiers did a flawless return for me. Love this place!! read more

They do have a decent inventory and the store is clean, but this review is about pricing and yes, that is also to be considered when leaving reviews. I would like nothing more than to support local businesses aka brick n mortar stores, but in this economy they also have to compete with online and unless they do I probably won't buy from. This is the kinda store that I would only go to if I needed something at the spur of the moment and that's the only way. That being said their prices are too high. read more

Ask an employee at Lowes or Home Depot a question and they'll make up an answer, not wanting to admit that they haven't a clue. The crew at Ace (and generally at most smaller hardware stores) actually know what they're talking about (or will admit that they don't know and will direct you to a fellow employee who has expertise in your area of inquiry). That's worth paying a bit more for. I go out of my way to shop at Pennsburg Ace because I want to support a business that respects its customers and hires people who know what they're talking about. read more

We were reviewing fireplace inserts and found ourselves at the friendly Ace Hardware store in Pennsburg where we met Shawn Johnson. It was refreshing meeting someone who actually knew what he was talking about and who also bent over backwards to give us the best deal on the Mendota fireplace inserts we ended up buying. Our circumstances were unique in the fact these fireplaces were to be put in our newly constructed home in VA - 5 hours south. Shawn went WAY out of his way to make sure the individual installing the inserts in VA knew what he was doing. Shawn made himself available over the phone with the contractor to answer questions and he helped us with coordinating the logistics of getting these exceptional fireplaces to our home. We highly recommend taking the drive to Ace Hardware in Pennsburg to the Hearthside store within. It has one of the best displays we have seen and you couldn't ask for a better salesman. We cannot wait for our house to be finished and to use these beautiful fireplace inserts. They have a wonderful, realistic flame and an incredible guarantee. Thanks, Shawn!! You're the best! read more

While I am very happy to see a small town brick and mortar store still thriving, this one needs a little improvement with customer service. I go here quite often and although the prices are astronomical, it's supporting a local shop. First, the manager and sales people definitely need some help in the personality department, almost all of them I've dealt with are less then friendly or welcoming (sorry guys but someone had to say it) there was one gentleman that actually had a personality and I wish I could remember his name otherwise blah,Manager double blah, smile, it's contagious. They have a great selection of wild bird supplies, mind you you'll pay double what you would anywhere else but again keeping in mind this is a local hometown store, it's totally fine. The only complaints i have are the lack of personality of the sales people/ associates and the girls at the desk. 1 out of every 3 trips they double charge or mess up the total somehow. I was charged 3 times for the same item and didn't realize it until I got home (which is my fault) but this happens frequently now so I pay attention, they're young soI'm not going to fault them. Also girls if someone is using a coupon and their 20 cents away from meeting the criteria to use it, tell them, it would be super helpful and good customer service. Another issue is stocking, I don't know how many times I've needed something, called to make sure they have it only for them to say, we're out," ok when will it be in", oh maaaaybe next will week. Come on guys, in today's day in age with access to easily to everything it's very hard to wait a week with no guarantees. For Those of us that are trying to support you, it makes it very hard and it's not uncommon goods this has happened with. The positives are there is a diverse selection of items, everything from Carharrt to plumbing to hardware and everything in between, which is so nice to have close by and not have to support the big chain home improvement stores. I particularly like that I can get everything for my birds here from feeders to specialty foods to keep our feathered friends happy. When I need something for my wood stove it's nice they have that department as well and lawn and garden supplies and equipment. It's clean and things are always displayed beautifully, giving it a hometown little store feel which it is. Why is this one of the only stores I can't bring my dog into? This is a big deal here, every Ace I've ever gone into I could bring my dog and they enjoy it but not now, I KNOW that's up to the individual store so I'm sorry you don't like dogs but that's one of the things that stands out about Ace so I strongly urge you to reconsider. There are few places left you can bring your furry family member, when it's a small hometown store it gives the sense of welcoming. Overall it's a good store, some small issues that aren't as important as others but it's service that needs to stand out and is crucial to your survival so I am hopeful these things change.... and your dog policy. read more

Y'all are so friendly and helpful. Theirs always a hello. Somebody always give me help. I like them

Purchased a gas fireplace from Shawn and had it installed through his recommended installer, with stone accent. It looks absolutely amazing! The process was easy and Shawn was very informative. He provided us with a lot of options from the type of fireplace, to the mantle and stone. Couldn't be more pleased. If you're looking for a fireplace, go to Ace Hardware and speak with Shawn. Ace Hardware - Fireplace from Ace Hardware - Pennsburg - Hardware Stores Near Me - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania

The big "we got everything and know it" hardware stores threaten to put the smaller local hardware stores out of business. It's refreshing to know that the smaller guys are surviving and you can actually get service from a store employee and not have to run after them as they are running away from you as one has to do at the big stores (HoDo's and Lowe's). But, there's the rub-the employees at this Ace practically run you over when you enter the store asking you, before your eyes have time to adjust from the outside, what you need. OK, some might not complain at this, but I like to BROWSE...get it...BROWSE. I BROWSE, I BUY. This is a typical scenario: walk into the store-get practically tackled by the staff, then be forced to tell them what you need. They take you to the product, you pick it up and before you have time to look anywhere else, they are directing you to the check-out lines. WAIT! I want to buy MORE! PLEASE LET ME SPEND MY MONEY IN THIS STORE! Sorry, that's not allowed. No browsing, no perusing, no time to catch your breath. It is a known psychological fact that the more time a person spends in a store the more he/she will buy. I wish these smaller hardware stores would get this. There is another store I reviewed in Bethlehem, PA where it is impossible to browse-they practically block the aisles with staff and prevent you from browsing except for the one you are in. Maybe these stores are afraid of retail theft? I wear a business suit and I don't think I look like a shoplifter. They really need to get it. They want to provide service but smother you and rush you out the door. An experience, other than the aforementioned, at this store, was that I wanted an item that the salesperson had to look up on the inventory computer. granted, I was not allowed to look for it. I had to mention the item many times before it was found and I saw it on the screen and it read "IN STOCK" the salesperson said: "I'm sorry we don't have it, but I can order it for you and have it here by XXX." I pointed out that it read "IN STOCK." The salesperson said that it didn't and refused to look at it again. I left and had to have my arm twisted again to return to the store later to find it on the shelf and buy this item that "had to be ordered." Unfortunately, this store was the only one stocking this item or I would have gone somewhere else. At the cash register I said: "I would like to pay for this out of stock item." The cashier didn't get it and looked at me funny. Also, be prepared for sticker shock as this store's prices are well above the big stores' OK, they are allowed to make a profit and if someone wants to pay the extra for convenience, so be it, but to double the price on many items is, well, IMHO not right. The only way I will return to this store is if: 1. I don't feel like going to Lowe's which is about half and hour away; 2. I need some small item that I know will be reasonably priced; 3. I am drugged and dragged in there. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. QUICK TO SELL YOU A PRODUCT BUT DON'T WANT TO SUPPORT IT AFTER THE SALE. In sept of 2016 I got a wood stove from them. After shopping around I decided to buy from them. I did this because Sean seemed like a stand up guy. Last week I discovered a crack in my stove. I called and spoke to Sean and he told me there is nothing he can do. The stove has a lifetime warranty and he did not want to help. He told me to call another dealer and said my claim would get denied. read more

Dear Ace We were shopping for a new wood stove and went to wood heat in Quakertown. We have purchased several stoves and many items there over the last 25 years After looking at various stoves for 45 minutes we were unable to get assistance. Upon leaving the store many people jumped up off their chairs and asked if they could help us? As I went out the door with my wife ,I turned and said "not now" So we drove to Ace as we knew you had stoves but did not know what to expect To our surprise we were waited on Immediately by Shawn . He was very informative and I could not of asked for a better experience . He answered all my questions,(which were very many.) We ended up purchasing a Lopi stove from him When it arrived , there were a few issues out of his control however, he jumped right on it to assure we were properly taken care of. He returns all our phone calls or text The stove burns less wood then the Osburn it replaced,so we wil need less wood to keep the home cozy warm . If your looking for a good wood stove and you want to assure they will be there after the purchase, then we highly recommend seeing Shawn at Ace in Pennsburg Kind regards , Michael & Sherry Tamburino read more

This ACE Hardware store is great The people who work there are very friendly and very helpful My husband and i like to run in and pickup something we need and it is always easy and quick The problem i have is with your Hearthside fireplace &stove department. We had a pellet stove installed that we purchased there The guys who installed were great, friendly, professional and got the job done very quickly We were less than happy about the person who came out to check the job out prior to the installation and also sets up the appointments. He was very late coming out to do the initial inspection. The day before the installation was scheduled we were notified there was already something planned for that day so it was delayed even though I had made plans to be around for it. The next day they did not show up till hours later that the rescheduled appointment time. I had to give it only 2 stars only because of the this problem. I had no problems with the two guys that did the installation. It turned out great and we're extremely pleased with the results. read more

This review is specifically for Hearthside Fireplace & Stove, which is located within the Pennsburg Ace Hardware: We recently found ourselves unexpectedly in the market for a new wood stove. We narrowed down our choices to a few models and started price shopping local vendors. I was pleasantly surprised when a very friendly and accommodating salesperson named Shawn offered a considerably better price than all of the local competition. Shawn was courteous, knowledgable, patient, answered all of our questions and went out of his way to make sure we were making the proper choice for our specific needs. He's very down to earth and easy to deal with. There was no hard sell, just a genuine desire to help the customer. Despite an issue at the warehouse that was out of his control, Shawn went above and beyond to be sure that our stove arrived within the promised time frame. I HIGHLY recommend working with Shawn at Hearthside for any of your wood/coal/gas heating needs. It is a fully stocked store that carries a wide selection of stoves and accessories with top-notch customer service. read more

I was very disappointed with my shopping experience today. Upon entering the store, five salesmen approached me asking if they could help me find something. Once I had reclaimed my "personal space", I proceeded to let one of the salesmen know that I needed a piece of plexiglass cut to a specific size. The salesman went off to get the plexiglass. While waiting, I added several items to my cart. Each time I entered a different aisle, a salesman approached asking if I needed help. Each time I told the person that I was being taken care of. When the salesmen started approaching me multiple times, I got annoyed. After waiting 30 minutes for the plexiglass, the manager approached me and asked if I was looking for something specific. I explained that I had been waiting for 30 minutes for the plexiglass. I told him that for each five minutes beyond this point that I needed to wait, I would put one item from my cart back onto the shelf. The manager assured me that he would look into the holdup. Needless to say, I followed through on my promise in unloading my cart. I ended up waiting a total of 55 minutes. My cart was empty by the time my plexiglass was cut. Their excuse for the delay was that their saw blades kept breaking. I will not be returning to this store for any reason. read more
