The marshals can control them remotely and slow down or speed up all the karts. I felt that the marshals did a great job of making sure everyone was safe and keeping an eye on the track. That was reassuring for me as it was my 11-year-old brother's first time here. There was even a safety video explaining what to do and not to do on the track. The marshals were very kind and helpful. Cons: We came on a weekday because we figured it would be less busy and we were right. However, we waited for hours and hours between races. We were there for a total of four hours just to do three races for one person. I understand that they separate the races by skill and they wouldn't put a beginner (my younger brother) with skilled racers. There needs to be a better way though. They have two vending machines, a couple of arcade games, that's it. There's also nothing around the area to do except for the Rec Room. My brother really enjoyed racing, but the wait was just too long and the races too pricey. I'm assuming if you are coming in as a group the wait will go by faster. I would recommend making a reservation for this place and bringing something to do (cards, Nintendo Switch, etc) while you 're waiting, because you will be doing a lot of it.

There is a restaurant located inside the Century Downs Casino called The Derby. On Tuesdays,…read moreWednesdays, and Thursdays they have "specials". We found this out by accident. So on Thursday evening, after some shopping at the nearby Cross Irons Mall, we came here for dinner and their special this evening was Prime Rib for $8.99. It's a 6oz that comes with gravy, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, and a Yorkshire pudding plus horse radish. It was delicious!!! Everything on the plate was perfect!!! I'm not one to eat beef especially rare and still any pink to it, and I seldom do, so I requested mine to be "well done" and "tell the chef to burn it and I won't complain". When my plate came, I could see those beautiful criss cross markings on it and it was indeed cooked well done. Although people cringe and say I'm ruining a good meal by requesting my meat to be cooked this way, it by no means ruined it. In fact, it was one of the best prime rib dinners I've had in my life!!! It wasn't at all chewy but still tender to the chew and the sides were a bit charred to give it that slight crispiness and flame broiled taste. The mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, Yorkshire pudding, and gravy were all really good as well. We ordered a side of garlic toast to share and it was also tasty and delicious. There was a bit of a line up to be seated but only ten minutes for us. It seemed like it was a popular night for people to come out and get this deal because the line up was longer by the time we finished and were leaving. Service was exceptional. Friendly servers who were quick in getting drink orders as soon as you were seated, refills on water, checking up on how the food is and so on. For an extremely busy evening this is appreciated. The restaurant is clean and where we sat, it has large windows looking out to the racetrack. After dinner we played some slots and it must've been a lucky night for me because I sat down and played 2 cents slots for only 3 or 4 minutes... and I got the Bonus thingy and won $202.40!!!!!!!!! A delicious prime rib dinner and instant winnings at the slots! What more could a girl ask for on a Thursday evening after a hard day at work?!?!?! Will definitely go back to try other items on the menu and their other specials!!!

Waited almost 5 minutes after we sat down to get acknowledgment from one of the two servers. First one came over and brought menus and didn't ask if we wanted beverages, and then disappeared. Second one came over and asked if we wanted drinks, took the drink order and vanished. First guy came back to take our food order and as he was doing that the second came back with our drinks. The gong show didn't end there. We watched tabled that were seated after us get their orders, all while the servers seemingly avoided our table. When our food finally did come, it was very obvious that it had been forgotten by our server cause the plates were scaldingly hot and the shredded hash browns were crispy and dried out. Not once did a server come ask how things were, cause we would have let them know, but they just wandered around and left us feeling like we were an inconvenience to their day. Got our bill, and waited for them to take our payment, but they vanished yet again. It took one of us going up to the bar to have our bill settled. The lady at the bar asked how things were and I was quite honest with her and said I was really disappointed in both the food and the service, compared to how other people were getting treated and how great their food looked. We haven't been out this way in quite a few years and it'll likely be a few more before we are back

We found our seats easily in the grand stand. There were big screens showing the televised events. The seats were narrow & very close together without much legroom. We stood for the national anthem. Chuck wagon race events were explained. We watched the Chuck wagons pulled by 4 horses race around the track to cheers. I learned that Chuckwagon racing is an equestrian rodeo sport where drivers of a chuckwagon are lead by a team of Thoroughbred horses that race around the track. This sport is popular in the Prairie Provinces of Canada, where the World Professional Chuckwagon Association & the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association are the 2 major racing circuits. The most famous chuckwagon race in the world is held annually here at the Calgary Stampede, with a total prize money for the 10 day event toping C$2 million. Major construction, oil, energy, aeronautics ... companies sponsor wagons with advertising rights. The best Indigenous Relay Racing teams take to the track each night at the Calgary Stampede after the Cowboys Rangeland Derby Chuckwagon Races. Ten teams show off their incredible skills, with riders mounted bareback. They race the track at fast speed, then leap off to swap horses before taking off on another lap. There was a children's chuckwagon race, and all kinds of entertainment. Each evening show ended with fireworks.
