This place is very unimpressive! For the price you are charged for 7 mins you would think they would have more things to do. They have a couple basketball games and 2 vending machines. Went here for the first time this month and I'm not sure if I would return... Pros: The carts are completely electric which is pretty neat. The marshals can control them remotely and slow down or speed up all the karts. I felt that the marshals did a great job of making sure everyone was safe and keeping an eye on the track. That was reassuring for me as it was my 11-year-old brother's first time here. There was even a safety video explaining what to do and not to do on the track. The marshals were very kind and helpful. Cons: We came on a weekday because we figured it would be less busy and we were right. However, we waited for hours and hours between races. We were there for a total of four hours just to do three races for one person. I understand that they separate the races by skill and they wouldn't put a beginner (my younger brother) with skilled racers. There needs to be a better way though. They have two vending machines, a couple of arcade games, that's it. There's also nothing around the area to do except for the Rec Room. My brother really enjoyed racing, but the wait was just too long and the races too pricey. I'm assuming if you are coming in as a group the wait will go by faster. I would recommend making a reservation for this place and bringing something to do (cards, Nintendo Switch, etc) while you 're waiting, because you will be doing a lot of it. read more

Booked in advance as part of a corporate meeting held in Calgary. Communication was terrible, difficult to reach by phone, calls went days before being returned. When we arrived at Speeders, the staff indicated that we were booked for a day earlier, which was not the case based (had the emails to prove it). Told we would have to wait about two hours, "to fit us in". No manager to speak to. The timing wasn't going to work, because we had a dinner to go to. So very disappointing that we couldn't even try it, Staff we spoke to were pleasant at the location, but it is clear they maybe overworked. Fun carts but if you book more than 2 races ahead they just won't fit you in for a 4th. I have gone twice with the 4 races pass. The first time they just didn't have a 4th race planned so we didn't have time to do the 4th. The second time there was four of us and they only had room for 3 to race. Basically they won't have races ready for you even when you booked weeks ahead of time. But once again the track and carts are pretty fun to drive. read more

We drove three races and all four of us experienced different levels of quality, from wheels ready to fall off, to poor motor performance to excellent performance, total luck of the draw. Even after all the safety training they put on two kids (shorter than what was supposedly allowed) and they couldn't even manage the warm up run without crashing and stopping the race totally. The racing was MAYBE okay if I'm being generous but I've been to better places in the States that are well worth the drive in comparison. Took the spouse in to satisfy his need for speed! Thanks to Yelp we knew ahead of time we would have to register and pay the $20 for the lowest yearly membership. Sadly, the girls at the counter working day shift during the week are barely helpful and do not look like they want to be there! It would have made the experience better if some enthusiasm was thrown in the mix. 1 star lost for the counter help. Hubby raced against himself and had a blast - he got his score sheet to beat his best lap time and of course since we paid for a membership, he will be back. He just wished the track was larger. They change the track sequence every 3 mos. The track itself is well managed/organized, is clean, the cars are in good shape and are powerful apparently for being electrical. No drifting and no bumping allowed. $20 for 14 laps and it takes about 10 minutes not including watching a short video if you are a first-timer. If you come in on weekdays when it is quietest before 2pm, there is a $14 special for 14 laps. I can see how it would be great for groups, parties, team-building etc. read more

Get my go kart running, head out on the race track, looking for adventure or whatever comes my way! When the weather outside is crap and you're thinking, "Man, I just wish there was an indoor go kart place in Calgary!" remember that there is. It's called Speeders and it's up on Aero Drive. Oh, and it's fun! Some things to be aware of: 1) You must buy a year's membership. It's just under $20. 2) If it's your birthday month, you get one free race. 3) If you've never been there before, sign up on the computers to the left first, then go stand in line on the right. 4) If you have a group bigger than 10 people, they can't guarantee you'll all get to race at the same time, but they'll try their best if it's not overly busy. 5) Don't come drunk. They won't let you drive. 6) One race lasts 14 laps. Be douchey and expected to get kicked off the course with no refund. 7) Bring ID. You need it. 8) Head socks. Yep. You wear them inside the helmets provided. Although they look at feel weird... it's comforting there aren't 4000 unsocked heads that have entered the helmet you're about to put on your head! 9) You can only sign up for one race at a time. If it's busy, it can be a long wait between races. There is AC/DC pinball to help keep you occupied. 10) The track doesn't look all that big when you first walk in, but it's similar in size to other go kart tracks in down! 11) You get a print out at the end that tells you what your fastest lap was and what your standing was with the other 11 cars on the track with you. 12) The karts are all controlled... so, if they need y'all to slow down, you slow down. This was a lot more fun and safe than I thought it was going to be. It's not the nostalgic go-kart bumping kind of race (which i'm totally okay with) its a best lap race. We went with a group of 24 and we had two heats of 12 with 3 races for $90pp including membership fee. They supply free lockers and make you use their red face masks. At first, I thought this was unsanitary and kinda gross. You can't bring your own because they can't guarantee your face mask is clean. Their face masks are discarded every race into a bin and washed and each race you pick up a new one - so it wasn't so bad. The helmets come full faced with sizes from S M L XL XXL. The service was great on a Friday night, it wasn't too busy. A little slow to register but we were all new and if you forgot to register online they have computers on the side to do so. The only thing is they close pretty early on a friday night, 9pm. There is a height restriction, must be at least 5' or something and I think you need a drivers license to operate the karts. The races are fun as long as you are with a group that go fast and don't crash/bump. Whenever anyone bumps or crashes all the karts slow down. I never got a black flag but our group got it 3 times - I think the staff were nice about it though, so it was all in good fun. At first I was scared only because of the crazy testosterone in our group and their fearless urge to go super fast. But I actually did pretty good, thought it was safe and fun with a large group! read more

Although a bit confusing at first as you have to register at the self serve kiosk then line up to pay for your laps, once the administration side was completed we were ready to race. I liked that they had our group all together on the track (and only our group). It was my first time in a go-cart and although I am very advance in navigating traffic in record times down Deerfoot to get to work on time, and although my corolla is a smaller car, I was nervous about the speeds these little cars close to the ground could reach. The safety video was reassuring as they went over what flags meant and how the speeds were controlled for us. The head sock wasn't the most flattering look, but I suppose it beats the risk of lice from sharing helmets. The first few laps were slower so we could get used to the course and then the final nine was game on. The nice thing was the winner wasn't determined by passing one another, but on your personal best lap. Which meant I had 9 chances to get in first place. I like that I have a membership now (one time fee) and because my birthday was this month, I lucked out and received my race for free! Pricing is reasonable so I will be utilizing that membership over the next few months and try to better myself with a better lap time. Turns out even though I am a true tortoise (I was slow and steady and my tenth place finish reflected this), in cases like go-carting the hare will win the race. Not your average go-carting place. Very clean and safe, you enter a well-lit warehouse with shiny floors. Self registration takes a minute or two, then another 15 minutes to sign in and pay (group of five took 15 minutes). We came as a group of five on a rather crowded night. Had to wait about 45 minutes before we were given a safety briefing and helmets. By the time we entered the cars we were grouchy, but it was worth the wait! Races were not too long, but a lot of fun. You are not allowed bumping other cars, hitting the walls or even drifting. This sounds bad, but a bit of accidental drifting or quick impact doesn't get you kicked out. In exchange for stricter rules you get very fast cars. Never been in a faster go-cart. Races are fast paced and action packed. Bit pricy, but races don't expire, so I suggest buying more than enough (3 is good) and coming back later with extra. Overall, the staff were happy and helpful, the facility was clean and organized and the racing was fast and fun. If it hadn't taken so long I would have given it five stars. We went on a Tuesday night yet it was still highly crowded. Either way, I would recommend this to anyone looking for some more serious racing. read more

Lame. We are not going back. First, the staff never told us that signing up and paying wasn't enough; we needed to also put our names on a waiting list to race. Not knowing that we ended up waiting an hour to race. Then when we were finally going.. we weren't racing. The course controller guy set our carts to super slow limiter mode almost every lap. Apparently some noobs racing with us needed this. $50 for maybe 3 clean laps. So in all it was expensive, slow and boring. read more

Most disappointing karting experience I've ever had. I kart on a weekly basis throughout North America and Europe for I travel for a living. I've karted in 11 countries and can safely say that Speeders is the ONLY establishment to successfully REMOVE any ounce of fun out of Go Karting. Upon walking In the front door of speeders, I was greeted by a smiling face and the bad news that my party and I (all from New England in the states) would be REQUIRED to buy a membership for $16.95 before being permitted to purchase races. This immediately rubbed me the wrong way since I've seen this in other karting establishments but it's always been an option as a way to invite returning customers and save money on races. Most places waive the fee when I asked nicely because I'm an out-of-Towner. NOT speeders. Since we had already taken cabs from downtown to get here We figured we would purchase a 3 race pack for $49.95. I've found that this price point is about $10 more expensive than most 3-race averages from my experience throughout Canada and the U.S. So at this point we all spent $68.20(including tax) for three 10 minute "races" So when we finally got through the gate to watch the safety video, it became clear that Speeders has got a serious stick up their butt. The amount of "rules" on the race track surpass practical safety requirements. You aren't "allowed" to bump other racers or bump or brush the sidewalls. You aren't allowed to "drift" or "slide" your kart either. In doing so, all karts will be deactivated and you'll be "black flagged" and asked to leave speeders. Obviously this is not the fastest way around the track anyways so it's kind of a "DUH" rule but really??? They'll deactivate all karts and kick you out? The first five laps of your first race are governed by the employees wireless devices so you can "learn" the track. In other words, our kart goes 20kph around the track for the first five laps until you're "allowed" to go faster. We were told we would be going "65kph" but that cannot be accurate. The speed we were allowed to go was so punishingly slow, I almost left after the first race I felt so ripped off. The second race started shortly there after and after everyone's karts were evenly separated(to prevent any actual "racing" from happening) in the first two laps, our karts were brought up to speed. We then completed 13-14 laps at 20 seconds each(confirmed on our race print out provided by Speeders). Some quick math would solve that we were "racing" for under 5 minutes, NOT 10 minutes. Finally, the third race proved to be even more unsatisfying than the first two since it was confirmed that we would not be able to race each other or have any real fun. We also only spent 5 mins on the track for race number three. So in the future I will not waste my time coming to Speeders and I suggest any teenager to grown adults looking for any sort of real thrill avoids this place. I'm surprised there isn't a tampon machine hanging on the wall next to the head socks. Thanks for nothing Speeders. What a rip-off. read more

This is not worth the risk of participating! Huge repair bills can be imposed on drivers when the poorly maintained equipment breaks down. Long and wordy waiver which drivers must sign makes you responsible for repairs! Don't go to Speeders. You may be on the hook for a repair bill caused by Speeders using poorly maintained carts. This is probably the best go carting place I have went to in years everyone is nice they let you go as fast as you want to and their are lockers to put your things into while your racing. Their is a short video about the rules and how to get ready for a race. A bit of a down fall is that it's a bit expensive for 3 races but 5 races is a good deal. She would not answer my questions helpfully. And when she did she made it clear everything was on the website. Where now that I am home I have looked to see that they're not. We were looking to book a bachelor party with Speeders as it seemed like something the entire group was looking forward to . When you go to their website to try to book a grouping it will not allow you to book, unless you own a "membership". So we tried to call to get the information required and make a reservation. When we called their Calgary office on several occasions they had nobody answering the calls and all calls went unanswered. We then made a trip to the Calgary location and tried to speak with a girl at the counter. The employee was very abrupt stating that reservations could only be made by calling the Edmonton location and speaking with the event coordinator. She then instead of maybe calling for us, she wrote the number for the Edmonton location on a piece of paper and wished us on our way. Upon calling the 'coordinator' we were told that we would have to book a party basically costing twice as much as it would if we were to just walk in. With approximately 12 of us racing it was the equivalent of $120.00, JUST to reserve a group booking. The coordinator was also quite rude and very abrupt. For a place that is new in the city still trying to get business on a regular basis it is very disheartening to see that they would treat a large group of people so poorly. I will never be a patron of this establishment and look forward to the day the building is reverted back to warehouse spacing, which will be very soon if they continue to operate this way. read more

Me and a group of friends went here on sunday afternoon. We went for a drop in race. We heard on the radio of the fast go karts, however, the track is designed so that you will never reach those speeds of 60km/hr. It was still a good 5 mins on the track. Terrible place to go. DO NOT waste your money! The staff were incredibly rude and didn't have a clue what they were doing. The track was small, they were total nazi's if you did absolutely anything wrong (I forgot to put my helmet face shield down as I entered the track) and I also had a hard time getting the belt on properly (cause it was so stiff and hard to loosen (in which one of the staff members treated me like I was a 5 year old who needed a stern talking to). Absolute shit my brother took me with a couple of his friends to try it out both me and my brother had never been there before. After out "test lap" we waited for our group to get called as we wore registered as a group over 2 hours go by before they call our friends. Keep in mind many other groups had gone multiple times in the time we waited. And me and my brother wornt on the race list for there race so we said ok for the next race we are a group and want to go together they said alright no problem. We figured it was a reasonable request considering groups as small as 2 People wore being givin the track all to themselves. But again that isn't what happened when we all finally got called. Our group was 2 beginners and 3 almost intermediate racers. And ever though we requested multiple times to race alone we wore put together with a group of 2 that had spent almost half an hour on the track by them selfs and clearly knew what they wore doing. As you can imagine I got 1 lap in and one of the 2 people hit be because I am a beginner and don't know what I'm doing. 2 more of our friends wore involved and I was ejected from the race and told I would not be welcome back so that was a good 90$ each me and my brother waisted. I came with a group of 6, we all payed for 3 races and it took about 3-4 hours to get our 3 races in. "Up to 70km/hour", this is blatant false advertising, these carts don't even come close to that speed. They make you drive at a reduced pace for 4 laps, which is ridiculous, one practice lap is easily enough. Then they cut the power to the carts constantly throughout the race, often leaving the power low for a lap or two. You are lucky if you get 5 full speed laps in per race. My cart completely died on the track, which forced everyone to stop for a solid 10-15 minutes. For the outrages price of the "Race Account", plus $20 a race, you are better off finding a different place to take your friends or family. This place has potential to be good fun, but the staff just constantly stop you from enjoying the facility to the fullest. read more

Their staff there are the most judgemental, sexist group of people I've ever seen. If they think you are driving slow, everthing happened on the track is your fault. If you were intentionally hit by someone behind you, they wont give the person a BLACK FLAG as they said in the entrance video (thats all a JOKE), they just gonna constantly pull you over and talk to you and wouldnt let you have fun because they think you are driving slow. If you want to go, you better first prove to the manager there that you can haddle their easy, straight-forward carts. Beacuse if you dont, anything happened there is your fault. And they would ask you to anyway afterwards. Can you image?! They ask you to prove your self to them when you just want to have some fun!!! I was the 4th place of group of 8 even with them distracting me by pulling me over several times and telling me dont do anything just kepping LEFT after being hit by someone behind me. Have some good speed to them. Only major issue is the track marshal. They can shut down your carts to slow speed for any reason. We did two races and had a younger marshal the first time and it was fine. He just held up keep left to pass signs and the odd no bumping or no drifting. The second race we had this short skinny 40 yr old power hungry dude. He really needed to relax a bit. He had our karts at slow speed for 6 out of the 14 laps. Ridiculous. He actually pulled a guy over and talked to him for 2 laps about bumping into the barriers. Old dude didn't even have to move the barriers it was so minor. Overall not bad if they actually let you race. If you see power hungry loser guy there save your money and wait until his shift is done. read more
