My wife and I stopped in for a late breakfast while visiting friends who live in the area. It was moderately busy on a late Sunday morning. Our waitress was very friendly. It looked like they only had two waitresses to cover all of the tables. The food is typically diner selections you'd find outside of NJ. There are two entrances at the front of the building and one in the back, however when we visited the back entrance was locked due to needing repair. We made the mistake of sitting at a table near the right entrance as every time someone opened the door, we were hit with the chilly air from outside. read more

The food was great I got an egg Sandwich and a bagel that in total costed $9.00 you have to go here again our waitress was very nice and our food came out quick in summery this is one of my favorite restaurants to go to and you should go there too. read more

Have been to Trackside often over the years. Still a great place for lunch. Went today had excellent grilled cheese and tomato sandwich, sister had very good turkey club sandwich. it was awful!! I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with French fries and tomato soup. The soup was microwaved clumping with a hair in it. the fries hard as rocks, the grilled cheese greasy. The cook came out and looked absolutely filthy no hairnet. At the hostess complained non stop about the last two customers who stiffed her. One customer gave her a quarter tip and the other one on $100 check gave her 40 cents. it probably because their food was disgusting too. I would never ever eat there again. read more

Stopped in today for breakfast with family. It's your average upstate diner (which I happen to love), nothing fancy. I got the small size sausage gravy and biscuits. Not only was it a big portion, definitely could have had leftovers if I wasn't making it my only meal of the day, but the gravy was perfect and the sausage had the right amount of spice. I did get an egg on the side. Delicious rye toast and will never again order the sausage itself (freezer burnt taste). My mom got the spinach and feta omelet--it was loaded with spinach. She said it was good. They also had little latkes as an alternative to hashbrowns that looked good! The atmosphere is local and there's a gritty, small town vibe (yay! For the upstate diner). Some things were priced one or two dollars more than I'd expect, but I'd head here before driving into Oneonta any day! Service is what you'd expect, good and done. All said, I'll be going back for that sausage gravy and will hopefully try lunch in the future/will provide an update then. read more

Was driving through the area and we stopped in. The waiter was friendly and very attentive even though he was quite busy. Menus were sanitized after each person and a clean or unclean sign was on each table so you know where you can sit. We had the country fried steak, with bean ,ham soup, cowboy sandwich and chilli cheese fries. The food was true home style and delicious. Next time we are in the area we will be returning. read more

We went to Trackside for dinner, both got the Chicken & Biscuits . The salad came first, but was so soggy and wilted we only ate the tomato and cucumber slices on top. The chicken & biscuits came cold, the mashed potatoes were still clumped together. We asked to have it heated up and the young girl serving us microwaved it and brought it back, still cold. (She said she microwaved it for 1 minute) We asked if she would please heat it for 2-3 minutes and she reluctantly took them back to the kitchen. When she returned with our dinners a young man from the kitchen carried one of the plates for her. As they walked back to the kitchen he commented "don't burn your mouth ". The waitress elbowed him as they laughed and he commented "that's what they wanted ". The food still wasn't hot and it needed gravy but I wouldn't dare ask. I ate half of it and brought the rest home (which I threw out the next day) There was only one other couple in the restaurant who left before we even got our meals so it wasn't a matter of them being too busy. I understand that good help is hard to find and these kids are prime examples of that. If they are old enough to be working and earning a paycheck they are old enough to at least have the decency to be respectful to their customers. I don't think it's too much to ask for your food to be served hot. I guess they don't realize their service is reflected in their tip. We normally leave a 20% tip but she screwed herself on that! We won't be back, we'll spend our hard earned money elsewhere. read more

For the price and quality of food, this is a gem in Sidney. We had the Friday Haddock buffet, and highly recommend it. I got fried, wife got grilled, both were superb. The seafood soup/clam chowder? Was outstanding! They also give a 10% Veteran's discount. Being a USAF vet, that was greatly appreciated! read more

If you are not a local to this area you are going to be treated differently at this place, period. My family and I came in and sat ourselves, as instructed by the sign. The restaurant has two rooms, and I suggest sitting in the back room, because the front can get very cold in the fall/winter time. Our waitress was nice at first, but she definitely tended to the locals better, which is sort of understandable, but when one party enters the restaurant 20 minutes before the other you should care for them first. After, waiting an eternity to order , she explains to us that they are "really busy, and our food will take a while." If she had said that at first we would have left right then, because the place was barely full and obviously not busy. We waited for about 1 hour before our food came out, meanwhile two other tables were seated and had already gotten their food and checks. Now comes the food. I wouldn't call it horrible, but it was NOT worth the wait. I ordered the Belgian waffles, which were good, but I do not recommend getting the strawberries on top, because they were ice cold and very gross. If it's not strawberry season they shouldn't serve strawberries. I also got a side of hash browns. They were drowning in butter and were not crispy enough. The only acceptable meal at my table was the Scramboli. My mother ordered it and loved it. It comes with cheese, sausage, onions, potatoes and some toast. The icing on the cake was when we had to wait another 10 minutes for our check. Honestly the place is small so it's not hard to look after all your tables, especially since there are about 15 tables max. Don't come here, just go down the street to the bakery it's much better. read more

Basic diner fare, the weekday cook has been there over 20 years and she knows what she's doing - your food will be exactly the way you ordered it. The weekend cook - not so much - and you can tack on an additional half hour to get a simple breakfast order. The veteran waitresses there are excellent servers and really try to go the extra mile for you. Portions are large, so order accordingly. read more

Going to start with this was my second time going here and I only went because i got a deal from another site. That being said my girlfriend got a BLT and fries. The lettuce was five layers thick and was brown around the edges. The fries were some how dark brown, soggy and not cooked. My mashed potatoes and gravy was nasty. The potatoes were tasted what i imagine wall paper paste would taste like. The gravy was from a can or packet. The chicken fingers were what i would expect from a bag. The best part that the both of us could agree on was the honey mustard and the diet pepsi we got. The other think i am going to comment on is that she did not ask me what kind of dipping sauce I wanted and she brought me bbq, and then left, i got her attention and asked for something different and she brought it to me but what I am concerned with is that she took the bbq cup with her as if to reuse. Now when I got home with my three tenders and my cups of sauce i turned them over and found green leafy stuff on them. Since I don't eat meat, cheese, or dairy, the only dish on the menu that I could eat was the veggie stir fry. It was okay, but nothing to write home about. We love the Trackside, and it's our go-to when we want breakfast in town. While their lunch and dinner is good, their breakfast is the best. The restaurant is clean and cozy, if a little on the crammed side. The wait staff is pleasant, but definitely puts emphasis on their regulars over the non-regulars, which gets annoying. I don't mind waiting a reasonable time for acknowledgement, but I didn't enjoy being ignored for a long conversation with a regular. Their food outweighs the lacking staff, however. I absolutely love the belgian waffle (with strawberries) and no one in the family has had complaints about anything we've ordered. The price and portions are absolutely reasonable, and you never wait long for your food. read more

This is the kind of place that has regulars. Same faces sitting in the same seats everyday. Wait staff is fantastic, they remember your face, remember the food you like. Strawberry shortcake is fab--made with biscuits and the large is enough for 3 people. Breakfasts are great.
