Traveling thru the Southern Tier of NY State, and found this diner on Yelp. Looks exactly like a diner should. I ordered a bowl of Butternut Squash soup, and hubby ordered a bowl of chili. We decided to split a BLT on wheat. Service was friendly and quick. Soup & chili were delicious! BLT was stuffed with delicious fresh tomatoes, lettuce, and crispy bacon. Bobs diner is a must stop if you're in the Bainbridge area and in need of some good quick food! I sat at the counter and was immediately taken care of with excellent service! I had a ham and egg sandwich that was amazing with a huge side of home fries. Everything coming out of the window looked fresh and delicious, and the classic diner interior is original and intact. I ordered a BLT with extra bacon and it had a little extra. $ 12.95 1 order of onion rings 4.00 and a soda $ 3.50. $ 22.50 with tax and credit card fee and I left a $ 6.00 tip cause the service was the only good thing about it. So my total for a BLT with a little bit extra bacon, onion rings and a soda cost me $ 28.50 for lunch. I could have had a dinner in a nice restaurant for that price!!! We really enjoyed this small homestyle diner when we stopped there for lunch. Soup and chili cooking on counter in crockpots, homemade pudding and pies in the dessert case although Cheesecake and carrot cake not baked on the premisis. We ordered the all beef chubby hot dog and mushroom swiss burger. Potato chips and fries made on the premise. My black Angus burger cooked to order. My burger was on a soft cheese topped Kaiser roll. The steak house dog, large thick hot dog adorned with onions and mushrooms, steak sauce and sliced tomatoes. Food plated nicely, good portions and all very tasty. The menu extensive, breakfast all day with lunch and dinner selections. Prices reasonable. There is something for everyone here. Staff were attentive and friendly. Your very typical diner that can be plopped down in any small town in the US. Friendly, yet no-nonsense ladies running the place and very simple and yet honest menu. While there are a lot of burgers and hot dog options there are other food choices from breakfast omelets to liver and onions. At this fun 50-ish diner, we enjoyed a tasty meal and the fun local people who helped us feel right at home! We stopped later in the day for a quick, light bite. I had a delicious bowl of Manhattan Clam Chowder and side of real mashed potatoes, and my husband had a tasty ham and cheese sandwich. While traveling to Animal Adventure Park we decide to stop and get some Breakfast/Lunch and came upon Bobs Diner through a sign while on Interstate 88. It's located in a quaint little town and was easy to find. Since it was a Sunday, they had a breakfast buffet. The buffet was fantastic with various danishes, fruits, eggs, bacon, sausage and more( too many selections to list), One of the best buffets I've been to. The food was fresh, cooked to perfection, and tasty. The venue gave me the feel of a 50s diner and the waitstaff were friendly and kept our glasses and cups full. So me and my wife stayed at in West Bainbridge with Family. We decided to visit town and try out some food. The first place we came by was Bob's Diner. From the outside it looks like a typical Diner. Im from NYC so we have a lot of them and many of them are... nothing special. Some have good food others ok. So going in I thought hey lets try it. We went for Lunch... Wife had eggs and hash browns. I had their burger menu (about 4 - 5 choices) and chose The Cowboy Burger. It mixed Chili & onions on a Cheese Burger 1 Bite and I WAS AMAZED. The flavors were amazing. The burger was cooked PERFECTLY. Was juicy and delicious. I had a lot of burgers in my life... in some great restaurants in NYC and got burgers that were ... ok to good. This surpass all of them. This might be the best burger I ever tasted... well until the next day... I got The Pizza Burger... WOW. SIMPLY WOW. You have to try it to believe it. I didn't want to finish it ... iT WAS THAT GOOD. They also had Freshly cut and homemade Potato Chips. Really good. Next time your in the REGION... stop by Bob's Diner its worth a long trip. Food is delicious. Also The Service was Great. Surprise find in Bainbridge, the home of Elmer's Glue (isn't *that* appetizing) that manages the unthinkable: pretty original diner food. The diner itself isn't quite Full On Diner - not open 24 hours, decor is a bit forced of fake antique signs instead of the real deal - but it's got the look and feel and layout of a classic diner-car plus format, so we won't quibble here. The service was diner classic, friendly Hiya Hon with ample coffee and soda refills and just the right amount of local chattiness. We were also pleasantly surprised that even though we were just behind a rather weird group of about a dozen college kids who'd dropped in for a large to-go order, they got our orders out on time. So the food: go to the burger menu. They have some really original creations - man the Cowboy Burger was great! Unusual buns, great ingredients, the meat done just right. Original home-made chips. (They serve the burgers with both chips *and* fries, go figure.) The home-made soups were basic but incredibly delicious (we tried two, they're made up specially daily). One of the kids ordered a full breakfast (he's growing) and everything was perfect - even the eggs, which always seem to be a problem at diners. The kids' portions in particular were enormous, other portions ample but not in the grotesque category. The only particular downside is it was just a touch on the pricey side relative to the usual diner fare, although truth to tell you really ought to compare it to one of the specialty burger chains that's trying to capture the high end, because they're doing the same thing much better and marginally cheaper. Chance stop. Great t a mushroom Swiss burger. Wanted medium got well. Mushrooms were under cooked for me. Came out of a can so they were flavorless and rubbery. Green salad was crisp but only had tomato and lettuce. Raspberry vinegar dressing was good though. Onion rings were obviously frozen and they tasted old as in too long in the freezer or refrigerator. Wouldn't order these foods again. Carrot cake saves the day. It was great. Service was great also. Lastly could fee was weak. . What happened to Bob's Diner!!?? While we were there the waitress seemed high on something, it was if she forgot she was waiting on us and was off in her own little world. Prices are so exspensive now it's no longer a family friendly Diner. The service is terrible the prices outrageous such a shame to have fallen so far. We won't be going back any time soon. Last year we had an amazing breakfast. So this year it was our go to spot. We stopped in Wendy's on the way home. I have not had fast food in 20 years. It was great. Ok, half way thru it was not so great. It was great in comparison to the Burger we had the night before at Bob's. I'm 6-2 and 220lbs. I'm in real good shape for an old man and have an appetite of a 20 year old. I'm a rescue swimmer, drink like a fish and eat like a pig. I would never leave my plate with food oj it and in fact always finish my wife's meal. I love burgers. I hated theirs. Never in my 65 years have I not finished a burger. I am kicking myself still, for not complaining and telling them I will not pay for this crap. We paid and even left a decent tip. But I am left with the felling I should have told the waitress that she never should have served us that junk and thus we did not tip you. Take it up with the chef. But we did tipped her. The tomatoes in the salad were rotten. The lettuce brown. The chips, albeit perhaps homemade, were rancid, but ok, I admit the fries were good. The burger inedible.
