I had the Hawaiian eggs benedict which have spam and Hollandaise and omg it was so good. The potatoes were also perfectly crispy and delicious. For my drink I had a salted caramel mocha from their seasonal drinks menu and it was excellent. Not too sweet and just right on temperature and flavor. Service was friendly and attentive - you order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. My husband got the loco moco and was very disappointed because of the price and how much food it was. It also didn't say in the description that there was kimchi on it. I had the scallion bagel sandwich for breakfast. It is amazing. I asked the server for her recommendation between it and the chorizo wrap, and she confirmed those were her two favorites, so it was a hard choice, but you can't make a bad choice. The egg was cooked just right, slightly soft and runny yolk without being completely messy. The bacon is thick enough to cook crispy without becoming dry and crumbly. The bagel was obviously fresh with just the right level of chewiness. Next time I'm near here for breakfast I'll be tempted to try the wrap, but it will be hard not to decide to experience this exquisite sandwich again. It's marvelous. read more

Service and food are great. Prices are way too high- 2 coffees and a breakfast sandwich was $45. They add a 15 percent "service charge" to all orders. No one could tell me exactly what that is- "it isn't quite a tip but I can leave a tip if I want." There is no signage among this and it seems lame. I usually tip 20 percent so 15 is low. I added to it but a better explanation would be good. Yesterday I left a 20 percent tip on top (my fault for not looking at the bill) and no one said anything to alert me I was leaving 35 percent... Located inside W Seattle my husband ordered a few drinks and an appetizer as we were awaiting our dinner to be delivered. He called and the order was brought to the room within less than 15 minutes. Room service has social distancing enforced and are leaving the orders at the door with items sealed for patrons protection (very nice.) Tried 5/7 of their breakfast items. My favorite is the avocado toast. It's a fresh take on a classic breakfast item. The blazing bagel sandwich was extremely messy to eat because all the sauces were dripping. The bagel itself was slightly burnt. The sandwich itself would be good if they put less sauce The breakfast casserole was ok, but very carb filled and not much veggies. It was just cheese, egg, potato, and sausage. There was little spinach and cherry tomatoes given on the side and the menu made it seem like the herbs would be mixed into the casserole which they weren't. They gave some bread on the side, which was slightly burnt. The fuel bowl is good if you are a fan of kimchi. It is packed with nutrients The cinnamon rolls were decent, just your classic cinnamon rolls. I've also tried the banana bread, matcha scone, and croissant. The bakery items were all fine. One downside is they over heat it and borderline burn them when you ask for them warmed up. I think they just run their toaster/oven for slightly too long because all the breads and bakery items came out slightly burnt. read more

Based off of their breakfast menu, this is a solid choice. For those staying in the attached W hotel, I would venture out due to the price to quality ratio. I wouldn't consistently seek out this place among the myriad other options Seattle has to offer, but I liked it. I strongly recommend the herbed donut with poached eggs. The clearly fresh donut had a delicious balance of a classic flavor with a hint of herbiness - it seemed like rosemary thyme to me. The sweetness of the syrup balanced the savory hints, though I couldn't discern any notes from the alleged bourbon barrel aging. The eggs were nicely poached and plated with two stiff pieces of bacon. It felt decadent but not heavy as a breakfast meal. The breakfast buffet is just ok, serving warm eggs, potatoes, yogurt, fresh fruit. It's a bit messy up there, so if you have super strong dietary restrictions or allergies I would stick to a menu item. They never refilled some dishes when they ran out and the warm items were unevenly heated. At a $25 price tag, this isn't worth it. Service was decent for a weekend morning and they weren't particularly busy. For the amount of employees I saw, I'd expect our order to be taken faster, but the kitchen moves quickly. read more

Good food and drink options and great daily happy hour from 3pm-8pm! This restaurant/lounge is in the first level of the W Hotel. They frequently have live performers in the back corner, making this a loud and lively spot (in case you were looking for something on the quieter side for a date - this is not it!) The servers here were nice and on top of things despite the chaos of loud music, loud patrons, and a private group party in the middle of the room. My water glass was always replenished and several people came to check on me during the course of the 2 hours I was there. My friend was super late in meeting me so I felt bad about locking down a high top for so long - nobody at the lounge pressured me finish up or move to accommodate other parties and I didn't feel rushed in the least. They have plenty of tables available for dinner but nobody was eating dinner during the loud musical performance from 6-8pm. The food was very good, especially the Brussels sprouts and the poke tostada. My only complaint was that for $7 the poke tostada could have been a poke bowl or poke burrito down the street at Pokeworks or another poke spot. And the bar stools don't have back support..that becomes painful after awhile. read more

Our room at the W was still being prepped during a very busy Torchlight parade weekend (NOTE TO SELF: This takes place right outside of the W / TRACE every year so it's perfectly located to take in the action) and had a great experience. I've been there a few times but it had been awhile since I usually frequent places closer to the water when I'm in downtown, so I forgot how great this place is. They offer happy hour from 3-8pm every day - not just weekdays - which means that it's very easy to take advantage of. Their HH includes $5 beers, $6 house wine and some food items including garlic fries and edamame. The edamame on happy hour is $6 and includes sesame seeds, chives and a sweet chili sauce. It's very good and much more healthy than eating fries, so it's a great happy hour option. They also have a house IPA made by Sea pine in Sodo called the WIPA which is very good. I didn't get a chance to try the Rose ice cream dessert, so I may be back for that soon. The service is nice and attentive, the atmosphere is typical W; meaning very hop and trendy. They also don't charge for soda water (a pet peeve of mine) so I highly recommend this place. I just have to remember about it next time I'm in downtown Seattle! read more

Liked this place so much we are here 2 weekends in a row. Not exactly cheap but what is in downtown Seattle. Jalapeño bagel sandwich was AMAZING. We also had different variations of their pastries which were on point. My partner ordered a coffee by a name you'd typically get at a well know coffee shop started in Seattle and the person taking our order was good enough to point out that it was going to taste completely different and be bitter the way that particular drink is truly supposed to be made. Checked into the W Hotel last night quite late (around 1030pm. Since airport & plane food isn't exactly post worthy my wife & I thought we would grab a quick bite downstairs. We got the pork sliders & decided to share the tots. The service was quick & the place is nicely decorated. However, if a place can't serve some decent tots, you have to question the rest of the food. The bowl of tots came out & in the words of the server "the bowl was blazing hot" so we approached with caution. To our surprise, the tots were warm at best & literally tasted like cardboard. I immediately started to get flashbacks from Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares shows & how he used to rip it out of the restaurant for serving bland or microwaved food. Not good. Sat down in the lounge - waited for 5 mins with no server insight. Moved to the end of the lounge that is near the bar- sat down for another 5 mins. Went up to the bar, asked if I need to order at the bar. No- my order will be taken at the lounge. Sat back down for another 5 mins. A guy sits at the table next to me, within 1 minute the server walks past me, and to him. She talks to him, then walks past me again. Is this because I am a women sitting alone? I got up and left. Was confused to see the display screen missing any and all breakfast items we had previously seen on the website. Asked the person at the register and they said the website was outdated. Solid happy hour in the W Seattle. My friend and I came for happy hour after work, as we heard they had garlic fries on the menu. Word! They do indeed have garlic fries, in addition to other bites and drinks on the cheap during happy hour. When you walk into Trace you're immediately greeted by the plush lounge chairs and fireplace. The place had a good amount of people, partaking in happy hour on a weekday; but the place is spacious, so there was plenty of room for us to chill. We ordered the garlic fries, tots, and two cubano sliders. Service was a little spotty since the place was getting crowded as the night went on, but soon after getting our food, service improved. There was an additional server who ended up helping us throughout the night. Garlic fries were what brought us to Trace and the garlic fries are what will have us come back, especially for five bucks on happy hour. You get a huge plate of garlic fries that smell and taste like truffle from the truffle oil, which I'm totes a fan of. Plus, the aioli on the side it came with was a good complement. Although I am not a skinny fries fan, I was with these. Great garlic-y, truffle flavor. Tots were covered in shredded, melted cheese, scallions and came with a red chili sauce. I'm a fan of tots, especially tots with toppings, but it seemed to be an overkill here. The cheesy tots and scallions were fine, but the chili sauce on the side didn't seem to pair well with. It was supposed to add a spicy kick to the tots, but with the cheese and scallions, it was confusing. I actually asked for more of the aioli that came with the fries for the tots, which turned out to be a better fit. The cubano sliders were tasty and I liked them more than I thought I would. The softly-toasted brioche buns had perfect texture, and the melted swiss cheese on the thick cuts of ham added great flavor. I also liked the pickles and mustard with, typical toppings for any classic cubano. On happy hour the cubano sliders are sold individually, so make sure to get enough for your crew...or for yourself! Best part of everything was that all the happy hour prices are less than 10 bucks, so no breaking the budget after a hard day's work. That's how every happy hour should be, don't you think?
