This hidden gem in my neighborhood has been serving great quality Peruvian food for a few years now. Their menu does not have much of a selection but everything they have is excellent! The Peruvian style roasted chicken is top notch. The chicken soup "aguadito de pollo" is my all time favorites. Salad and fries are always served fresh--all for reasonable pricing. Although this place is small with only a couple of tables inside (temp closed due to Covid), its main operation focuses on take-out, thus, it gets busy during lunch and dinner times. My only issue about this place is when I ordered over the phone, they don't actually fill your order until you get there (probably for good reasons). So when you come to pick up your meal, you could wait almost the same amount of time as if you were walking in. The owner is always nice and even helpful when I thought I lost my phone. I actually left it at home, but she's gone out of her way to help me find it. A plus in my book! Highly recommended! read more

Very good fast food Peruvian style chicken. The menu is nice, roasted chicken and unsalted fries (which I prefer to add salt to my liking), fried plantains, beans, salad, and rice. The only downside is aji sauce isn't as tasty or spicy as it should be, it's just okay and this is very important for Peruvian dishes. As a Peruvian I definitely approve the chicken. Daniel is a long time family friend but bias aside, I had one Peruvian chicken place I thought was best but when I came here again. Horrible seating and service. I came here so excited and there were no seats or tables, the place is small and had like 6-7 tables total , if you are coming call ahead to see if they have space. We walked in and nobody said anything so we just walked out starving :/ im so dramatic. But to me a good employee would of said something like.... This place takes the term 'hole in the wall' to a whole new level. First off, it's TINY, holding only four 2-seater and one 4-seater table. There is a television suspended in one corner broadcasting a soccer game in Spanish. It is clean and orderly, but far from fancy. You order and pay at the counter. There are no printed menus; the menu options are posted on the wall (with pictures). Your options are quite simple, in spite of the fact there are 12 listed combos to choose from. This place serves chicken. Rotisserie chicken, Peruvian rotisserie chicken... so moist and beautifully seasoned it could change your life. I'm not joking. Basic as it seems, it is life changing fare. You can order it as a 1/4 chicken, 1/2 chicken, or whole chicken. You can order sides to go with it choosing from fries, salad, beans, rice, or tortillas. The combos are merely suggested combinations of sides. The people behind the counter were friendly and efficient, taking our order for a whole chicken with rice and beans sides and handing us our sodas (which came in the can with a straw) They brought out our chicken chopped into fourths on a real heavy duty plastic plate and our large sides in similar bowls with real metal flatware to eat with. They brought out a mysterious white sauce, a nondescript red sauce, and the traditional Peruvian green hot sauce. For those unfamiliar with this magical mystical green sauce, it makes EVERYTHING in life better, just by its mere existence. Dress up everything from plain white rice to chicken to lomo saltado with this spicy little Ambrose from heaven... But I digress. The chicken. Oh MYYYYYY, the chicken. The meat falls off the bone, melts in your mouth, and sends your tastebuds into orgasmic ecstasy. No customer restroom. Trust me, it's a small price to pay to experience this chicken. Or take your order to go and enjoy it where nobody can make you share it. We only managed to finish half our chicken, and took the rest home to Bakersfield. Even three days later the chicken was still incredibly moist and tasty. The BF says he'd be willing to drive back down to Los Angeles JUST to eat this chicken. I kid you not. I just ate here for lunch and needed to write this review immediately. The day job can wait, this takes precedence! Toyitos is a Peruvian-Japanese joint that specializes in rotisserie chicken. What I had: Combo #1 1/4 chicken salad fries soda (orange if u were curious) $6.50 (including tax) Before the order came out the server dropped off 4 squeeze bottles at my table: ketchup, mustard, green sauce (kinda of spicy, citrusy, lemongrass maybe?), and white sauce (like creme mexicana). The chicken was so good! You could tell it was slow cooked to deliciousness. Skin was crispy with a nice peppery seasoning. The meat was so juicy and practically fell off the bone, you could scrape the meat off with a fork. Dipping it with the green and white sauce just added a whole new dimension to my dining. The salad was chopped cabbage and letuce with tomatoes drizzled with a light dressing like italian. The fries were steak fries, my favorite! The meal was great! Tasted like happiness =) On top of that, as I was finishing up and began to pick up the sauce bottles to return them to the counter the server insisted I stop and that he'd take care of everything. The dude out-niced me! wow. 5/5 stars, not necessarily because it's the best food I've ever tasted, but because of the combination of good food, cheap price, and great service. Been having toyitos chicken for a long time now and the quality is always really good. It's located in a small plaza so there is free parking. The restaurant itself is small and has about 5 or so tables only. The staff is really nice as well. I usually call in my order and pick it up (although I still have to wait some minutes). It's a pretty small place so most of the time we do take out but no big deal we live down the street so it's convenient. They have a Tuesday Special that we like to take advantage of from time to time. Buy any large Bird and get another half for only $2. We usually get the combo with rice, beans, and Fries (well done). For the both of us we spent about $14. Not bad at all. The chicken was nice and tender. Try it with the green sauce. The fries were so good! It reminded me of the Red Robin fries.
