I last reviewed Townhouse in 2005. I'm happy to report that it's as good as ever. These days I usually dine here with my husband and our daughter. She loves the spaghetti and we're all over the map. Recently we shared the chicken picatta and the burger and enjoyed both quite a bit. We miss the smoked chicken pasta and always rejoice when it returns as a special. Shrimp and grits excellent if you come for brunch! The hostess is always kind. I always make my reservations on Yelp so they know we're coming. We appreciate the service all around - especially from Laura. The vibes at Townhouse are always good. It's everything you want in a neighborhood restaurant.

Don't Get Smashed - Non-Alcoholic Whisky Cocktail (3 stars) - stick with the real thing

I don't go for business dinners that much these days, but this time we had a colleague fly all the way over from Thailand to meet with us so I definitely volunteered. Plus, it is an opportunity to Yelp a new restaurant for me - Townhouse in Emeryville. Townhouse indeed looks like a old, rustic house but actually has a good-sized patio and indoor dining room. Dark, relaxing vibes with Gypsy Jazz music. The menu has elements of Italian and New American, so pasta, seafood, and grilled meats. They seem to have plenty of street parking available. There is a private lot but note its pretty small and only goes in one direction, so careful backing out. It was a school night so I got the Don't Get Smashed cocktail with non-alcoholic whiskey. Huh? If you try to distill whiskey and water you reach an azeotrope, so you can't get 100% water or 100% alcohol by simple boiling. Regardless of how they removed all the alcohol, the drink has nice spiciness from cloves but in reality was really water downed. Next time just stick to the alcoholic one or have some wine. (3 stars) The pork chop entree however, was no joke - perfectly cooked and so juicy. I like the combination of apple and horseradish to give equal hints of sweetness with some heat. Three out of five of us ordered this. If you want to share some apps, I can definitely recommend splitting some focaccia bread and some fries. The focaccia had this dipping sauce that definitely had a pleasant kick.

What a hidden gem in this neighborhood of Emeryville. If it wasn't for Yelp! and looking for something unique, we would have not had the fortune of finding this bright spot of the Townhouse Restaurant. Situated in a quiet and quaint neighborhood of Emeryville, we learned that Townhouse is coming up in its Centennial anniversary. And much of the building and a good amount of the interior wooden floors are from the very original site! So much character and history. It is evident that it has expanded and been renovated over the years, but nonetheless, it felt so charming to be dining in history. We arrived midweek during the dinner hours. There was a good crowd both inside and outside on their covered patio. Luckily we were able to be seated right away. The happy hour menu had already ended, but we were able to find plenty of food options that intrigued us. Prices are moderate, and food taste is ammmmmaaaaazinnnng! We ordered the 1/2 rack ribs where the meat just came right off the bone. It was probably one of the best we've ever had. The cheese burger was so perfectly seasoned and cooked medium rare, just the way we like it. The fish and chips can be a nice shareable portion if you're not ravaging. And the brussel sprouts are good and enjoyable, yet I've had better elsewhere. This is a definite stop for anyone who has yet to experience the history and good food of Townhouse!

The food, the ambiance, and the service is amazing every time! I've been coming here for the past few months for business meetings/dinner or lunch and the staff is so welcoming all the way up to the owner. Not to mention the food and drinks are always great. Definitely a go to!

This place is amazing. Definitely lots of great drinks and food and the service is exceptional I love that this place is not on a extremely busy street. There's plenty of street parking with a small lot. The building itself is beautiful from inside and they have an outdoor area as well.

The Townhouse is just a favorite. It's a cute little tuck away with a great ambiance, selection of good food, and nice quick efficient service. The hosts and wait staff is always pleasant and helpful. The restroom is always clean and ready for use. There's a white linen environment so you can dress up or down to make the event whatever you want. When there, try the P.E.I mussels!, the Caesar salad, and wings! Enjoy!

We ordered the pork chop & applesauce, grilled angus ribeye, brussel sprouts, baby back ribs, and "fisherman's cioppino". Food: 3-4/5 depending on dish Service: 4/5 Ambiance: Casual vibes with a elevated cozy ambiance Value: 3/5 The best dish that we agreed as a group, was the angus ribeye, followed by the cioppino. The cioppino primarily for the flavor of the soup/sauce. However it wasn't like the ingredients were super fresh. The ribeye was cooked well, but again wasn't a steak that you would feel like this is an "amazing ribeye". The ribs were by far the least favorite. They were dry. While it was still an enjoyable meal, food was overall a miss for us. Service: friendly staff, only reason I took a star off is because they could've been more attentive with drink refills. Some slack because the restaurant was busy. The ribs did come out with the wrong side and the restaurant did give us the correct side in addition at no charge so that's good. Value: while pricing aligned to what I expected it to be, for what you are paying, I'd probably eat elsewhere. I would come back, but would try other restaurants first.

Best Bolognese I've had in the bay, if there's another spot let me know! Great service, had seating by the fireplace and the food was great!

Is the restaurant dog friendly? Thank you.

The food also came out pretty quickly. The presentation of the pizza was top notch and I could not wait to dig in. The portion size was adequate. The vegan cheese was yummy and the spice level of the pizza was just right. The pizza was packed with flavor and thin crust! My friend liked the shakshouka too. We shared a plate of the tossed green salad and crispy Brussels sprouts, in addition to two pizzas - Fun-Gi and the Spicy Tomato. The crispy Brussels sprouts stole the show - the deep-frying created a smoky flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture that was equally loved by vegetarians and non-vegetarians in the group. The tossed salad was decent; the lettuce was heavily coated with oily dressing, which I think could have used more acidity. The Fun-Gi pizza was our favorite of the two pies - the hint of truffle oil and rosemary took this mushroom pizza to the next level. I also loved the light and airy crust, which had the perfect amount of crispiness. I wasn't as much of a fan of the Spicy Tomato pizza; while I really liked the unexpected sweetness from the tapenade, the cashew cream drizzle seemed out-of-place. The ambiance of the restaurant was whimsical and warm, providing the perfect backdrop for my friends to linger over our meal. The outdoor seating also looked very charming, and I imagine it would be nice to dine here on a warm, summer evening.

The food in this place was good but the service was so bad at some point I felt like it was a torture. The place was kind of empty not too many table were full but the waiter just would be gone for long and wouldn't come ask if we needed anything. The wait between meals like appetizer and main course was so long not because of kitchen but the server was just gone for long at a stretch. I had to ask him to come and same with after our meal was finished he never came to ask if we needed dessert, The waiter on other table saw us a few times and he finally came and gave us a menu. I really wanted to try a dessert but was scared this will again take us another hour to even get the server to come and get our order. On top of really slow service there was an older man who sat in the table next to us and kept talking to us looking at our food. He literally was asking me if you support trump do you like him. He kept telling us how he knew the owner and his wife and has come to this place for 100 times over years and everything is free for him here. This was all ok but I wasn't sure why he wasn't letting us eat our meal in peace. At some point he became a little racist as well, when we tried to take our food goto he told us i won't take this goto. I never take this goto. And then was like ohh you are from India and it felt so uncomfortable. He was like do you watch fox, I watch fox. Then was like I have cable, I don't try to save money. Do you have cable.. omg never ending interrogation and also kept looking at our food and table and what we were eating and kept commenting on that. I understand this restaurant might have some old and familiar guest or important people come to this place but they should understand other guest should still be able to enjoy there meal without being bothered by the people who are known. It was one of my worse restaurant experiences, the service and on top of this man who somehow is VIP guest at this place made it so hard for us to have our date night meal in peace. I literally tried to run away from this place. This was almost 2 hrs long ordeal. We came a little before 6 and left at 8 and I never eat for that long. I'll NEVER go to this place again even though I loved the food.

I wish the tasters were bigger, and wish they gave you something to track the different beers, because it's easy to get them mixed the way they serve them one-by-one. I wish they served them all at once as well, because I received my beers piecemeal, with one showing up 10 minutes after my other beers had arrived.
