I found this lovely-looking afternoon tea, and I really wanted to try it. This spot is inside the beautiful Kensington Hotel. We walked in from the main front door of the Kensington hotel, and the staff guided us towards the back to where the Town House is located. Once seated, our server explained their current afternoon tea offering. It is called the London Landmarks Afternoon Tea, and features all the major landmarks around the city. The menu was quite lovely, and came with a London map of all the notable and historic landmarks. The afternoon tea will feature many of these landmarks, and you get to see what they are, and where they are. The map is given to the patrons as a souvenir, which I thought was really nice! First, we were served with their "Savouries" course. I didn't know we were going to receive anything other than whatever comes on the three-tier afternoon items, so we were delighted! They were all so very tasty! After we were finished with them, they brought out this beautiful stand in the shape of London Eye! Wow! They call their menu "a celebration of London" and I totally agree! It was fun to eat desserts in the shapes of famous buildings. The service was excellent! Courteous, warm, and polite. We were very well taken care of the entire time. Thank you! If you are in London and want to try some tasty afternoon tea, filled with everything that is London, give this place a try!

Getting reservations for A Tale As Old As Time was very difficult. I was traveling to London with a friend and really wanted to experience this tea time. Online reservations only allowed for one guest not two. I had submitted in my request for one with hopes they would allow two people. While walking in town, we passed the Town House and we popped in to ask if we could get the reservation altered to two people. The kind gentleman at the door assisted us with much warmth and kindness. He himself was unsure why it wouldn't allow more than one person, for the table are designed to hold more. Must have been an online error. I'm just glad I reserved the one person seat instead of assuming it was sold out since it was clear it was an online glitch. I'm so happy we got a chance to experience this wonderful tea party. It blew me off my feet. Every detail was extraordinary and if I was given the chance again - I would jump on the opportunity to attend. Highly recommend to all the Beauty and the Beast/Disney fanatics!

Got breakfast here. It was good. However the syrup used was not maple, that might be a british thing. I had pancakes and sausage.

The Mayfair Chippy - My to go order was so tasty. Fries could have been crisper but the fish was on point!

Mayfair Chippy absolutely lived up to the hype. The fish was fresh, flaky, and wrapped in a…read moreperfectly crisp batter that stayed light instead of greasy. The chips were thick-cut, properly salted, and tasted like real chip shop fries instead of frozen fast food fries. The place was completely packed, so I ended up eating on the stairs about a block away, honestly felt like part of the experience. One of those spots that doesn't try to reinvent fish and chips. it just does the classic version better than most places. Would easily go back next time I am in London.

(I heard the non GF version was also excellent.) Platter came with flavorful mushy peas, tartar sauce, and a spicy mayo (or currry for the non GF platter). Chips were large and delicious. Portion was huge, and easily shareable. Delicious!! Service: It was ok. We waited in line for a really long time (more than an hour) but we were checked on from time to time. Once we were seated and ordered, no one really checked in, but we asked if we needed something. Ambiance: Cute outdoor seating. In door seating was okay. Reservations get to go into a back room which seemed nicer. Lovely side street in a crazy busy popular area. It's a solid 4.5 stars for what it is because the food was so good. I'd return. Tip: Make a reservation a couple of weeks in advance, or be prepared to wait...a long time...Or, skip the line to order takeaway and go enjoy your food!
