Most memorable dinner we have experienced in a year or more. . Beautiful trout with spring vegetables in a subtle glaze and chicken schnitzel with an aioli type sauce. Even the asparagus deserved its own review. Staff knew how to make the evening a hit including a very rare thing: a well mixed martini. Our meal was topped off with a perfect British sponge cake snuggled down in warm toffee and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The environment of casual benches and chairs with homemade cushions surprisingly served to make the relaxed ambiance the perfect background for the fine dining. Came for the full English breakfast based on others' reviews. Full English breakfast was on my husband's list of 'must do's' while in Britain. It did not disappoint. Everything on the plate was FANTASTIC. I especially want to note the bacon- I'm somewhat of a bacon snob and theirs was perfectly done. Thick and cooked enough to be sturdy but not overcooked and too crispy. My first time trying black pudding and I was a little hesitant, but it was also delicious. Highly recommend this place. Wonderful restaurant for breakfast before heading to work or London tour. Experience "English Breakfast": beans, sausage, bacon, portobello mushrooms, eggs on toast, of blood sausage! Very heavy meal, I didn't need to eat for at least six hours after this meal! Their pancakes are thicker than American buttermilk cousins. Very cute brunch spot in the middle of Pimlico. There's outdoor and indoor seating, vaulted ceilings, and retro decor. The food was decent, but didn't blow me away. The eggs were a bit bland. I stumbled into this lovely restaurant all jet-lagged and unable to check into my hotel. It was a bit late for lunch on a weekday but the staff was great and space is cosey. They even had outlets in the bench under my seat to recharge my dying phone. I started with a crisp glass of prosecco and then tried to NOT inhale a tasty prawn salad with endive and pears. To make sure I wasn't too healthy, I ordered a side of chips because clearly I need fries for my first meal in London. The food was perfect and bright and fresh, especially after being in a metal tube for hours eating weird airplane consumables. I also got a small pot of tea which was perfect and revived me enough to carry on. Service was great. The open kitchen was entertaining. (I was in the front room so had a good view.) After coming back to my b&b from a day trip to Paris, the group I was with were all hungry. It was our last night and we wanted to find something close for dinner. After looking on Yelp for recommendations, we happened upon Cambridge Street and low and behold it was right around the corner!! We were a group of 7 or 8 i don't remember exactly how many. The restaurant is quaint and tastefully decorated in retro design. They couldn't accommodate us at one table but we were more then happy to split up into 2 large booths. It was late and we were greeted with lovely servers who were more then willing to make suggestions on food and drink options. I don't remember what everyone ordered but I remember my chicken schnitzel! It was the best schnitzel I've ever eaten! So moist and full of flavor. Most schnitzel is bland and boring, not this one. The food was good and everyone enjoyed their meals but I think the most memorable was the cozy feeling you get by sitting in this amazing space surrounded by lovely people. I had a nice evening at this cosy restaurant - we had some good burrata and calamari to start but the highlight was a beautifully cooked lamb with salsa verde and aubergine - a very tasty dish. Food may be a little salty for some, but I liked it. Slightly odd espresso martinis but the house white (vinho verde) was good. Both got spilt by the wait staff, the cocktails just a little but the wine was replaced - with something else! We weren't sure whether it was a bad bottle of the vinho verde or another Italian white but pretty weird. In general the servers are kind of space cadets (e.g. also brought the wrong food to our table) and things move slowly but they are really nice so it's more endearing than annoying. I would give it five stars, if only the service had been better. Food was overall stunning. I had the pork belly for starter, miso glazed cod for the main, and (tailor-made off the menu) affogato for dessert. Each and every dish was very flavourful and cooked to perfection. All of my friends enjoyed their meals too, ranging the duck breast and vegetarian dishes. Ambience was spot on as well. Cozy yet stylish, it was the perfect atmosphere for an intimate yet upbeat catch up with friends. Service could have been better. The staff were generally friendly, but they were slow to bring things out and at one point, we had confusion as to the rules of their happy hour charges. In the end, because we could not fully trust them, we double-checked the bill and identified two items that were not meant to be there. This adorable restaurant was only 0.05 miles from our hotel (The Windermere) so of course we had to check it out! Absolutely loved the "farm to table" feel of the decor and the food. My mother and I both agreed that the cappuccinos were spot on and I loved their selection of fresh juices. For brunch, I highly recommend the pancakes and berries - what a heavenly sweet treat! For a more savory meal, try the burger or the gnocchi. The menu is season so expect to see some changes but the pancakes are hopefully there to stay! read more

What a gem! Came across it wandering back to my flat. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Had the porkbelly, crispy and fatty in all the right places! The side of broccolini was a good portion. I'm finding good sized portions of veggie sides few and far between here in London. Can't wait to come back for every meal and to try some of their signature cocktails. Put me on repeat! We decided to venture out to an area in London we've never been in search of breakfast when we arrived to this cozy yet attractive little restaurant. It was mostly empty so we had our choice of seating. The few others who were there sat alone and quietly on their phones or hunched over their laptops. Although located in a boutique hotel, it had a locals vibe and we felt very much like obvious tourists invading their territory with our large-ish party and our California accents. Coffee was decent (which has been a bit of a hit or miss in London for me) but the English Breakfast got the thumbs up as more than half of us ordered it. No meat for me, so I had the pancake stack which was just ok for me. It appeared great in photos but the pancakes itself had too much fruit compote for me personally. Service was great. We were tended to quickly and orders brought out promptly. Their dinner menu looked fantastic so perhaps another visit is in order. Places like this really make me wish I can had a good month in London to really explore and discover restaurants and cafes off the beaten path like this. read more

So the rumour is that English breakfast is really made in a way that disappoint other Europeans - Especially Scandinavians - but no. This was absolutely no disappointment. The food was delicious, not too greasy, very tasteful and served nicely. The waiter made a minor mistake telling us about 'the daily juice' or juice of the day, which was for another table, but he was so nice that he gave us a tasting of it afterwards. And it was really tasty. The waiters were sweet and polite, and we felt very welcome at the place. I hope I get to come back and try some more food here. read more

I'd been to the Cambridge Street Kitchen once before this weekend, and, on that occasion, I would have given it a solid 4 stars. It has an awful lot to recommend it, but, after a couple of serious blunders on my most recent visit, I'm forced to give it a negative review. Who knows, maybe I'll revisit this in the future and give CSK a chance to redeem itself... Cambridge Street Kitchen is a lovely brunch place; very trendy decor and a lot of focus on fresh juices and cooking, with an open kitchen where you can see the food being prepared. They have fairly little outdoor seating but plenty of light, bright indoor seating, and, because it's situated in a not-terribly-fashionable part of Pimlico, it's not heaving like certain other local brunch places. So, as a restaurant, I think CSK has a lot going for it. I ordered the Cambridge Street Kitchen breakfast (essentially a posh full English for £11) and a black americano. The coffee was all good - my companions ordered pear juices but were then informed they only had apple juice, which was also nice - but my breakfast was brought to me without bacon, one of the menu items. No matter, I informed a waiter and he nipped off to rectify the problem. But he never returned. At a certain point I decided to tuck in and enjoy my breakfast whilst it was still hot, assuming that the bacon would come as soon as it was ready. But it never came. So that was the first black mark against the name of the Cambridge Street Kitchen. The second black mark (and, in my opinion, a more serious mark) came when one of my companions, who was enjoying the croque monsieur, pulled a sheet of ham paper from the sandwich. Apparently the chef had left the sheet of paper in when he'd grilled the ham and cheese together, which is A) suggestive of the fact their ingredients are not super fresh, B) a health hazard, and C) fundamentally kind of gross. The other breakfasts around the table - an eggs benedict and an avocado veggie bonanza - were both served without error and were apparently very delicious. Indeed, my breakfast was good, albeit delivered to me partially complete. In defence of CSK, the waitress and management were very apologetic and knocked one of the breakfasts and the service charge (felt bad about the latter, it was hardly the waitress's fault...) off our bill. So full marks for reparations, but I do think these were avoidable errors that a top quality brunch place shouldn't be making on a busy Sunday morning. With that in mind, I can't give it more than 2 stars, though, in a month or two's time, if I return and am impressed, perhaps I'll upgrade my rating. read more

I came here for breakfast with a friend after picking her up at the coach station. This place looked so cute on Yelp when we were looking for somewhere nearby that we decided to check it out. I loved the decor so much. Staff were friendly and the food was good. We both got the full English - my English friend was less enthused as she didn't find it "proper", but as an American I was much more easily impressed and thought it was delicious. I also got the raspberry orange juice which I enjoyed. Prices were reasonable for the somewhat posh place that this is. All in all I had a nice time here and would recommend. read more

So so delicious! This was my first meal upon arriving in London as it's just a short walk from Victoria station. They were wonderfully accommodating with our luggage and stored it for us near the lobby of the residence. When we ordered, it was taking a while for the food to come, so they offered us each complimentary beverages. When the food did come, I was so so pleased. I ordered the full English (as one does), and it was heavenly. Fairly refined as full englishes go, not super heavy or greasy, and full of flavor. I loved the black pudding, and the bacon was some of the best I've had (super meaty, but still streaky and crispy, amazing flavor). I'll be back! read more

There was no seasoning, the avocados weren't super fresh, and the toast was just.. toast. Toast was meh, service was meh. We happened upon this lovely restaurant on our first day in London. We stopped in for a late lunch. Although the kitchen was closing at 3 pm (we arrived at 2:50), the manager personally served us. We had avocado crush with a poached egg (egg was a bit over cooked), gnocchi and cray fish and white asparagus salad. The avocado crush was not advertised with sriracha but it was tasty all the same. The serving was small. The gnocchi was nicely done but one of the added ingredients was unidentifiable and a bit salty. That said, we finished our plates and would recommend. Easily became my new favorite local for Sunday brunch. I've been commenting to my boyfriend, "That place looks so ridiculously cute" for the last couple of months since we moved into the neighborhood and we finally just gave it a shot for brunch this past Saturday. We didn't have a reservation and when that's the first question you're asked upon arriving, I get a bit nervous. But, no worries, we were seated right away at the stools overlooking the kitchen within minutes. I do love sitting by open kitchens, I like seeing how my food is being made and what goes into it. Immediate trust-builder! The chefs at Cambridge Street were an impressive bunch and I enjoyed watching them work! And even better, the food entirely lived up to my expectations of how good I wanted the place to be. The avocado on toast with poached eggs was perfectly prepared and delicious and my boyfriend's croque madame was equally good. Despite it being busy, I didn't feel rushed to eat and get out so they could turn over my table. And also despite the packed tables, I didn't feel it was too over-priced so that helped me build even a bit more trust in the place. I also assess the quality of a restaurant based on its restrooms and Cambridge Street bathrooms were clean and stocked with good products. The downstairs pool room and garden area are lovely, I need to find a reason to eat or play there. Cambridge Street has quickly become my new favorite local for brunch after only one meal. I'd be happy to try virtually everything on the brunch menu and I'm already looking forward to returning for dinner! read more

Man do I want to love this place and they just won't let me. The food is wonderful. The drinks are delicious. The decor is homey and adorable. The service is AWFUL. I frequent this place way more than I should because it's in my neighbourhood and again the actual meal is always good. I've had to ask them to remove the service charge almost every time because the staff is just completely inept. They never check on you, they always eff up your order, you will sit there for at least 20 minutes waiting to even be noticed and you glass is always just waiting for a refill of some sort. They really need to do some work on fixing that and this place would be top notch. I can't justify going anymore until it improves as the cost is pretty high to have such crap service. read more

If you are a foodie, sit at the bar of this lovely Pimlico area restaurant and observe the chef 7-8:00pm. I can't decide whether the presentation or the taste of each dish is what I should note. Everything is so well done and carefully crafted. The service? Impeccable. And the ambiance I'm sure has been documented in Interior Design magazines. Complete with a darling, classic, and inviting patio space outside, I highly recommend the 1. Queenie Scallops 2. The Roasted Cauliflower and the 3. Gooseberry and Apple dessert.
