Town Docks is a waterside restaurant on Lake Winni in Meredith. They have an indoor dining area, but more popular is the outdoor area- picnic tables overlooking the lake. The location is terrific, but the food is mediocre, and somewhat overpriced. Frequently the meat is overcooked; often we don't get quite what we ordered. If you want to sit by the lake, this is a great choice. If you are looking for good eats, there are better options in Meredith. read more

This is one of the worst seafood restaurants I have ever eaten in. Everything on the Fisherman's platter was mushy and under cooked. The shrimp plate we ordered was the same--simply soggy and barely cooked. And the lobster corn chowder was totally inedible. What lobster? The potatoes were raw and it tasted like it was half butter. Great location and great staff! I decided to try the toasted butter lobster roll instead of the traditional style. I was pretty disappointed. No large pieces of lobster just ground up and very dry. I was thinking it would be cooked in the butter then put in the bun but no, you pour the butter on yourself after. The overall taste was so bland and now with a soggy bun due to the butter. Kicking myself for choosing this. My husband was not overly impressed with the regular lobster roll. Same ground up lobster (texture like tuna salad). The drinks were fun and the outdoor setting is great. Will go back and try something not in the lobster roll family to give this place a fair shot. :) read more

Nice place to stop for food while on the boat. Food is okay, service could be better. I don't recommend sitting at tables with umbrellas. A caterpillar fell from umbrella into my food. Now I am very careful about where I sit while eating. read more

We have been coming here for a few years on vacation, staying at the hotel connected to restaurant. Food is usually amazing(best hot lobster rolls ever!) however last night my husband, 2 yr old son and I had dinner, ordered kids Mac and cheese, lobster tacos, and mahi mahi tacos. Food was good, service excellent, paid bill and left. Two hours later all three of us are vomiting in our hotel room! So it was either the Mac and cheese or my guess the mahi mahi tacos (we all shared these items). Ruined our last night on vacation. Very slow service for a counter order place serving stuff that is largely quick cooking or quick assemble (salads, lobster rolls, sandwiches, etc). If you have hungry kids I would avoid this place, they'll be in full meltdown by the time you get your food, 40 min after ordering. My group of five ordered at the same time, about 10 min after sitting down, my food arrived. 25 min later, the next two dishes arrived. 40 min after ordering, still waiting on thr last two dishes (soup, salad, and a hamburger). Food is fine when it finally arrives, but kitchen clearly way too small to accommodate the size of the restaurant and the summer crowds. Pretty disappointing. read more

Ugh. I went here for lunch with my husband today. It was so disappointing. We entered through the "main entrance" but when we asked to sit inside we were directed to the "south beach" section. When we arrived it was deserted. We found a server who said we could sit there but then no one paid attention to us, even though 2 servers used the computer right next to us. As I was about to give up and leave a waiter came over to take our sink orders. We ordered everything at once. I got a gingerale that tasted like water. After about 35 minutes our sub par lunch arrived. My chicken sandwich was so dry and was missing ingredients my husbands fish left something to be desired. Our waiter was oblivious. So frustrating. Town Docks is such a fun restaurant for a warm summers day. The seating outside is especially great with your toes in the sand, and great view of the boats on the lake. The menu ranges from casual foods such as burgers, to seafood selections like lobster rolls and fish sandwiches; all of which are quite tasty. They have a unique cocktail menu with all kinds of fun creations. There tends to be a wait throughout the day here, but it isn't too bad earlier in the day. All of the staff are friendly and warm when they greet you. The colorful decor and beachy vibe makes it one of my favorite places to eat in the summertime. read more

We ordered: lobster corn chowder, caesar salad and a lobster salad. When you walk into Town Docks on a sunny summer day, it just reminds you of an Ocean-side restaurant in Florida, even though you're actually in Meredith, New Hampshire. WIth it's lakeside tables on a sandy dock, and it's outdoor bars with music, this restaurant is one of the most popular during the summer months. If you're visiting Meredith, you will visit Town Docks for one of three reasons. You either love seafood, you love the homemade ice cream, or you really just want to go to an outdoor bar on a warm, blue skies day The seafood, which Town Docks is most well known for, is very good, for the most part. If you go to Town Docks on a quiet afternoon, the seafood is great, the wait is short, and the food is cooked well. The buttered lobster rolls, one of the highlights of the restaurants, seems to live up to its expectations. The lobster, after being cooked for a fair amount of time, is dipped into warm butter and presented in a toasted bun. The normal buttered lobster roll comes at $20.99, and the jumbo lobster roll goes for $35.99. Another highlight is the fisherman's platter: a mix of fried calamari, fried clams, and fried scallops. This plate is one of the favorites due to it's variety of options it comes in. It can come as an app or entree, and can serve multiple people with different fried seafoods. However, not every meal served at Town Docks is served with it highest quality. When the tourist season kicks in, mistakes seem to occur. Due to the kitchen's very young staff, mostly high schoolers looking for summer jobs, not everyone has become accustomed to the pressures of the job, and it can cause problems. During the multiple times I visited Town Docks this summer, I saw multiple major errors made on orders. On three separate occasions a customer, including myself once, was given extremely undercooked food, i'm talking the center of my haddock still frozen. Now if I saw this only once, or even twice, I wouldn't be worried. Seeing that I visited about five separate times to eat, and three of those five having major cooking areas, that's my first red light. My second red light is how long the wait for takeout is, I was not given my food until almost 45 minutes on both times I had takeout. When I went to go eat after, my food was cold as if it had not been sitting under a heat lamp, which is what is supposed to be done when there are longer waits for food. The food is also not displayed as nicely when it comes in takeout form. I ordered mac and cheese and when my bag came out with my food in it, I found the lid on my mac and cheese not sealed, and cheese sauce flowing all over the rest of the bag and food. My final red light that really dropped my standards for Town Docks was the low quality of the foods other than seafood. Town Docks also does dishes like burgers, mac and cheese, tenders, salads, soups, corn fritters, and more. The problem is, none of them are very good. The corn fritters come pre bagged and are fried for only 90 seconds, they come either much too hot or too cold, and shouldn't be served as an entree. The tenders are a hit or miss, you can get great tenders, or you can get a slimey battered, undercooked slob of tenders. The part that makes me most angry is the salads. The salads are supposed to be served with the dressing mixed into the salad, unless asked for on the side. Every time I went there and a friend or family member ordered a salad, the dressing was just poured around in a circle once. I recommend sticking to seafood at Town Docks. In the end, I came to find that Town Docks is a restaurant that is very high or low quality, it's a hit or miss type of restaurant. For that main reason, I don't believe I would recommend Town Docks as my top choice. read more

Dined outdoors on a Friday night, long holiday weekend around 8 p. Our waitress came pretty quickly to take our drink orders as we decided on our dinner selection. There were 5 of us and two ordered the veggie burger, two burgers and me, the ahi tuna tacos. It took well over 30 minutes for our meals (which we would consider sandwiches) and not as long to prepare as some of the entrees. It was busy but as we waited, the restaurant cleared out considerably. The two veggie burgers and one of the regular burgers were cooked perfectly and my friends were pleased. One burger ordered medium rare came well cooked so it was returned and when we called the waitress over to tell her, she looked at us with a blank stare so my friend said "I can't eat it" so she took it back to the kitchen. The ahi tuna tacos were disappointing. I should have know that sushi grade tuna was going to come lightly cooked (if cooked at all) so with my first bite, I expected warm or hot tuna but it was cold. I should have ordered a burger. The fries that came with my tacos were good but a bit on the cold side. While my friend was waiting for her 2nd burger to be prepared, a skunk appeared within 5 feet of our table. It did not seem alarmed people. We made some noise and it retreated behind a garbage can for a few seconds to only come out again. We decided to pick up and move to the bar where some seats had opened up. When we took our seat at the bar, the bartender commented that the skunk is a "regular" and hasn't sprayed any guests ... yet. My friend's burger finally arrived and this time, it was cooked medium rare as she had originally requested. It was very good but having to wait while the rest of us ate our meals ruined the "experience". Our waitress was a little clueless and wasn't very attentive. Another waitress stopped by and we assumed she was a supervisor based on her demeanor and she was also not alarmed by the skunk which was still lurking around. We are all fans of the Common Man chain but this one was a disappointment. Don't think we'll be back when we're in the area again. read more

If you go here, DEFINITELY get the outdoor seating, although shade is often necessary. This summer (not sure when else they have it), try the Watermelon Bowl drink, which has watermelon, strawberries, pina colada mix, and rum all blended together and put in a half of a watermelon. Third time in three years my husband and I have been here on vacation. Food is generally ok. I tried the special pulled pork chimichangas- would not recommend. My sweet potato fries were excellent. Husbands fish n chips were okay. Buffalo tenders were good. Worst margarita ever. Service was very good. Long story short. For the money we will go elsewhere next time but may be back. We didn't eat here - we went to the window for ice cream. It was some of the best ice cream I've ever had! The lemon ice cream was perfect for a late summer eve, especially eaten while sitting on a bench watching the people and boats go by. The restaurant itself also looks good. There was a small line of folks waiting to be seated. Diners sit at picnic tables, with sand beneath their feet, overlooking the water. The food and drinks we was all looked delicious.
