They were ok, I'll try someone else next time. Answered the phone and set an appointment, they said someone would call me after finishing a job. Hour later they call and say the long bed just went the opposite direction, so they convinced me that a standard truck would be fine, because I needed the car picked up that day. (The car had flat tires and wouldn't start.) An hour and a half passed, I called. They put me on hold that lasted a while then kicked me off. I called back, got hung up on. Called again, she said please hold, put me on hold. I decided I'd wait to call another company the next day, because the shop I was bringing the car to was closing. (I called 6 hours before the shop closing time.) A guy shows up, leaving just enough time to hook up my car. Luckily the tires were slow leaks so the drivers idea to pump them before towing worked...Not sure what was going to happen if they were blowouts (the person on the phone didn't ask.) It worked but I wasn't a fan of the communication and delay without notice. read more

Look elsewhere, I've had full tow service in Berkeley for less than what it cost to get a jump from these guys. This would be at least a 4 star if they knocked $100 bucks off. Long version: Needed a jump, was given a 35-45m wait estimate. No biggie. 45 minutes passes and the driver calls to tell me he will be 25 minutes--not great, but I get it. Driver arrives after ~1h20m total, when asked he quotes me for $40 dollars. I say great, they have my card on file already. Jump goes off great, takes all of 5 minutes to do. Driver calls office to confirm job's done, tells them he quoted me 40 bucks. Office tells him it's 140 after he talks to two people, after which he hangs up and tells me the bad news. He then, understandably, tells me there's nothing he personally can do about the price after I ask about it. He was really hard to understand and I had already arranged for another company to tow. I finally straightened it out and waited for the driver to come back. A no-show. I saw a tow truck in a parking lot a block away. I couldn't get his attention to see if it was the same company. He ultimately drove away with no tow so I suspect it might have been. I was in a tough spot at 6:30AM on Thanksgiving morning. My car's battery died, I didn't want to wake the neighbors for a jump, and I didn't have cables on hand. Thankfully Towing Berkeley was open. The tech came within twenty minutes of my call. He was super friendly, gave me some advice on replacing my battery, and walked me through the process of getting a claim filed with my insurance when he passed me the bill. My car overheated and I needed a tow. I was one mile from my house and also one mile from their location according to my GPS. I called 3 times before I was given any help, because for some reason no other tow yard was open. The man who helped me did not give me a quote but claimed he would be there in one hour. One hour?!? I'm one mile from where you are! One and a half hours passed and nothing but by then my car had cooled down enough for me to just drive the mile home. While I was waiting, a friend called (he was calling around looking for tow yards near me while I was waiting for this joke of a place) and they claimed they quoted me $160 but that they'd do it for $100. They kept giving me the run around saying the manager was in a meeting or unavailable today... blah blah blah blah. At one point they want me to send them a picture of credit card to get a refund. I told them I was not comfortable with that and would like to drop off the battery to them and get the refund in person. Guy was great to me. I'd pre-arranged a tow, but I showed-up to the rendezvous point 5 to 10 minutes late. Guy had come and gone. An hour later, Guy arrived, got my car hitched, and chatted with me on the way to Right Spot Auto Doc, which was about six miles away. We'd pulled into the lot, not knowing exactly where to leave my car--because there's a community of small businesses on the lot--but Jabu, the owner of Right Spot, came on out and let us know that we'd have to back into the lot. I was a little nervous, but Guy didn't break a sweat. He backed out of the lot, reversed the tow truck, backed into Right Spot, unloaded my car, then pushed it into the lot. He should've charged me extra because I was late, which meant that he had to make two trips, but he didn't. My entire cost was $156. On top of that, I left my credit card in the cab of his truck, but I didn't realize it until I got ready to take care of paper work at Right Spot. As I was walking down the street, leaving Right Spot, who's driving down the street, honking his horn to high heaven? It's Guy, and he had my credit card in hand. Not only am I grateful that Guy arrived on time (although I hadn't) and cut me a couple of breaks, but I'm also glad that he did it with kindness. read more

I booked this appointment in advance for a nonemergency towing because I saw the positive reviews on this company's page. My experience with them however was negative! Don't bother booking with this company if you have the flexibility of choice! The company gives an hour range for arrival, so I booked for a driver to come between 8-9AM. I saw no one within my appointment window and when I called at 9AM to ask where my driver was the company assured me they would be there in ten minutes, and that I should wait outside for the truck. I called again at 9:45 and they assured me yet again that I should be outside waiting and that the truck would be there soon. At 10AM, a full hour past the hour window the company gave me, the truck arrived. (Mind you, I took the appointment time they said was best in advance) Once we got the car loaded on the truck and were en route to the mechanic an hour later than my appointment with them now. After stalling out every single turn and bump along the road to the shop, the tow truck blocked the entire parking lot and a one-way street to unload the car. When I tried to direct them to a better location during the unloading process their trainee (instead of training) was busy trying to chat me up about my car, saying he shouldn't touch anything to help the other technician. It was embarrassing for me having my auto mechanics yelling at the tow workers to hurry up and move out of the way, they asked me twice where the hell I found such morons. Finally, at the end of this slow incompetent job I paid at 10:50, nearly two hours past my initial appointment window. The employee who asked for my payment did not speak English so I didnt feel it was appropriate or logical to try to argue with him that they asked me for the highest amount of money on the scale I was quoted between $90-160. I paid the high fee of $160 and they drove off leaving me frustrated and tighter on rent. Truly would not reccomend this company! Maybe if you're stuck and have no other options you could take advantage of their 24 hour service, but be warned- you could have to stand outside waiting for two hours with your thumb up your ass waiting for some morons to show up and hit on you with a broken truck while they piss off the entire universe around you. I called them since my car ran out of battery. They said it would take them about 30-45 minutes to arrive. When they didn't, I called them and they replied "they were on the way". Finally, after 80 minutes of waiting, they showed up. It took them about a minute to jump start my car, and they charged me $135 for that! When I complained, they told me "I were too far away" (I was in Kensington! 10 min drive from Berkeley) and "the street was too narrow so they had to go back" (What?!). Finally, after a bit of a haggle, they agreed to drop the price to "just" $120. This is a rip off. They are unreliable. Never again. read more

Frustrating experience that got even worse. I stupidly locked my keys in the car and called this number because it showed as 24/7 in Berkeley where I got locked out. They answered and gave me an estimated price of $45-85 and a wait time of 35 minutes for the truck to get there because they were out at a different call. Help didn't arrive until 1 hour 30 minutes after my initial call and I was billed $120. Turns out it was a call center and they don't do the service directly. So the service wasn't even from Berkeley. They hired a guy from a different company to come out from Oakland so I got charged extra for mileage going 2 cities over during rush hour. Luckily the guy who came out to help (from a different company, not from this company) was very nice, got my keys out right away, and helped get me in touch with his direct boss who at least knock down the price $10. Still frustrated that this place takes advantage of an already stressful situation but will be sure to call a direct service place if this ever happened again. read more

Guy is amazing! He came out to transport my tiny house when no one else would - after many phone calls I found out most towing companies don't transport tiny houses under any circumstances. My tiny house is also a bit top-heavy, and was on a deck in a difficult area to extract. Guy was professional, patient, careful and skilled. He got the house out safely despite numerous obstacles, got the precarious load through the city streets, and finagled it into my driveway, all without incident. And he has a great attitude to boot! Our minivan broke in Berkeley while going to Tahoe. We left it at a friend's place after finding a replacement car. On our way back we called ahead to make an appointment with Towing Berkeley come and pick it up to tow it back to Palo Alto. This was on the easter week-end but they responded right away. They arrived exactly when they said they would, and with a flat bed which was ideal for our 4-wheel drive van. Our driver was Yossi and he was amazingly efficient. The car was loaded and unloaded quickly at the destination, and the 1hour ride with him in the truck was very pleasant, great conversation. Great guy, and great company to work with. read more

I called this company today to come and fix a flat tire on my 2011 Tiquan...The IDIOT that showed up didn't even know how to take off the lug nut covers to get to the actual lug nuts and kept telling me I needed a tool...I showed him the tool that fits them...He said that wasn't it...BS I called my dealership and they explained to me that I needed to get the covers off first of which "I DID" that...Now he did say he could TOW ME...BIG SURPRISE...and after reading some of the below comments about this company I see they are running a SCAMMMMM.... Oh wait it gets better...I was quoted a price of $85-$134 when I first called... after he was done I asked what this was going to cost me and he said the full $134 I asked why and he said because of all the work he had to do...Are you kidding me...I was the one taking off the caps first off...He said it was because my car was and I quote " NOT right next to his truck"...this LAZY SOB had to drag his jack 30 feet to my car... Then upon paying him his $134 he then announces that there is a 4 1/2% charge to use a credit card...WTF who does that??? But that's NOT the end...I said to this JACKASS not once but "4 TIMES" do you need to check the air in my spare as it looks LOW...He proceeds to push with his thumb on the tire and tells me and I quote " OH NO IT'S GOOD" what a JOKE...I have now learned that its Towing 101 that alllllll spares (donuts) should have "60 PSI" in them...mine had "28" and I told him I had NEVER used it in 6 years... I live in Marin and was on the 580 in Richmond Sun Feb. 8, at 6 p.m., when my car started missing. I got off the freeway in a 'bad' area (Harbor Fwy/Cutting Blvd.). GEICO couldn't find a towing company for an hour. Certified Towing, 510 235.0874 agreed to come and then reneged, leaving me abandoned. Towing Berkeley, 510 833.7330 showed up quickly instead. It was getting scary hanging out in the hood at the ARCO station. Guy was great. He was friendly, competent and went out of his way to be soothing and helpful. He towed me to my mechanic in San Rafael, was patient as I took things out of my car and then gave me a ride to my home 5 miles away. He was under no obligation to take me home.
