All the workers we dealt with were pleasant and relatively competent. The reason I would not recommend Coastal Contracting is primarily due to the lack of follow through with their one year warranty on materials. Our addition has been completed for about 9 months at this point, and we have had 3 distinct issues come up. Twice the HVAC has failed, and once the shower plumbing was malfunctioning. The first time the HVAC failed was right before the ice storm of early 2026, and we called the installing company to arrange service. They came out promptly and fixed the HVAC (faulty part, but we now had heat!) but we were told that we had to pay out of pocket for repairs since we did not first contact Coastal in writing. Ok. It then failed a second time right before the heat wave of July 4th weekend, so we contacted Coastal. We did get a personal email back after business hours saying that they would contact us after the weekend, which after 2 business days we have not heard from them. Again we did some repairs on our own. The plumbing issue happened between the two HVAC issues, so I was wise to submit my request for service in writing and followed up with a phone call, during which I was assured I would hear back...which I never did. It is just disappointing. Also disappointing were the many mis-ordered parts and vanity that delayed our project, the cut corners that we had to be vigilant about inspecting, and the surprise few thousand dollar increase in fee for a plumbing issue they did not see when they were quoting us. They admitted they didn't look under the house as they should have (I thought we were paying for their expertise?), but assured us that we could be happy that we were still getting a good deal. Maybe these hiccups and lack of communication after they get their check are all normal on a project of this size-I don't have any other point of comparison.

They completed the job in one day in 2012. My house was gas powered for heat and electric for AC. In December 2015, the boiler died after 25 years. Perrin replaced the two units with an HVAC system, added two vents and the electric bill didn't go over $100 a month the entire winter. The day before the big 3 day snow storm, my hot water heater died. Kennon met me at Home Depot to pick out a new tank, followed me home and had it installed that night before the storm hit. The morning of the storm, he personally came to my house to make sure it was working before snow started falling. I can't recommend his company more highly. This company refused to pull in my driveway in their VAN. I made arrangements for them to park in my neighbors plowed yard the next day they refused to walk on the ice to service my home. The tech guy waited in his van for about 15 minutes then left no call or anything. I tried calling back 3 separate times no answer when I finally called from my husband's number someone magically answered. While I'm not at liberty to put anyone's safety at risk if this is an issue that you have had and you witnessed my street/ road conditions why not just decline the service instead of making me continue to wait only to be told after day 2 that you can't service me. And the only concern you have is that you have had 2 technicians come out to waste time and money. Nevermind the fact I have no normal heat running. Horrible customer service and lack of communication!
