With that being said, Shady Grove Flooring was like a breath of fresh air during a very stressful time for my family. Aaron, the owner, was very nice and professional and did his very best to work with us and within our budget. He kept us apprised of every step and made the whole process of installing/renewing wood floors seem easy, when I know it is anything but easy. My mother and father flipped houses when I was in middle and high school so I know enough to be dangerous. Despite my eclectic "knowledge" gleaned from my eccentric parents and obsession with all things HGTV, I did have quite a few questions about my floors. Any questions I brought up to Aaron, he was quick to answer, and he did so in a very friendly, non condescending way. We had some sub flooring issues where the builders cheaped out on the grout for our bathroom floor. The tile cracked and then there was a giant hole to the crawl space where years of standing water literally ate away at the floor. Aaron fixed the subflooring and gave us a great tile guy to come fix the floors in the bathroom. No more hole in our bathroom or our wallets! Yay Aaron! Yay Shady Grove Flooring! Yay us! Although they stated they "did not do the install," the installer was directly connected to and recommended through them. Three years later, the flooring is separating and clearly showing signs of being installed too tightly, a known installation issue. Instead of standing behind the product and the partnership they promoted, the company has taken zero responsibility and has pushed the issue entirely onto the subcontractor. This is an extremely unprofessional way to handle a major flooring failure, especially given the cost and the fact that customers are led to trust their installer partnerships. Being passed around rather than supported has been frustrating and disappointing. I would caution anyone purchasing flooring here to get everything in writing and be aware that accountability may disappear if problems arise later.

I read lots of reviews and research things to death before I make a decision so I don't give people a high rating just to be "nice". I also consider myself to be be a little hard to please because I'm used to doing a lot of work on my home myself and I have a high standard of quality while being thrifty. That being said, I shopped around a few quotes and came back to FlooringRVA. Long story short...I felt the price I paid for what I wanted was spot on. I had a good experience with the two man crew that came to install the carpet and padding. And 6 months later things are still meeting my expectations. Robert, the owner, was the real reason behind going with FlooringRVA a second time. He personally came to measure and offer suggestions. I preferred to text and Robert made himself available at all times throughout the day when I had questions. I didn't always expect an immediate response but one was always received. I could tell he and his staff were committed to my being satisfied throughout every step in the process and I couldn't find that level of customer focus with any other competitor. After more than two years we are left with a poor flooring installation, no concrete plan to remedy the situation, and very little communication from the company's owner and president despite our many attempts to call, email, or visit him in the store. (Important update: I originally posted this review in July at which point the owner called me and promised to take care of the situation. After a few texts from him, he is once again ignoring our calls. He promised to get back to us no later than today, Friday, October 16, but it is 9:00 pm and we have heard nothing from him.) In the spring of 2024, we had Flooring RVA install wood flooring throughout our home. Even on the first day of installation, we noticed uneven boards and brought it to the attention of the installers; however, they did not address our concerns and there was no one on site to oversee them. As a result, the installation continued with many uneven boards plus some damage to our drywall, a broken outlet cover, and a poorly-done transition to one of our bathrooms. We did not have the "detailed walkthrough" referenced on the store's website at the conclusion of our installation, and the only communication we had from the store manager was a request for us to pay our remaining balance. Over the next few months we tried repeatedly to have our concerns addressed,, finally coming into the store to speak with the manager directly. After our visit, he did send an inspector out to document our concerns. The inspector took many pictures and new flooring was ordered. An installer arrived but did not feel comfortable installing the new flooring because he felt that the problem was with the wood itself. We were not comfortable paying the remaining balance of our job, but we were told that in order to submit the manufacturing warranty, we would need to do so, which we did. The warranty claim was submitted in late March 2025. Many months passed with no communication from the manufacturer nor from Flooring RVA, so again we reached out. Finally, a year later after many calls on our part, the inspector from the manufacturer and the original inspector from Flooring RVA came out. We were told that we would hear something within 40 days. It has now been over three months since that inspection and again, we have not heard anything. We have been told that the owner of the business is in charge of our situation, but throughout this entire process he has not answered emails or returned our calls. I will say that any time I have called the employees working on the floor have been friendly and as helpful as they can be, given that they do not have the authority to resolve this situation. For over two years, we have tried to work with this company without success and not until now, are we posting a negative review. We do so in order to prevent others from having our experience.
