I would like to take this time to revise the original review I left for TCG after speaking with the store manager/owner about my first visit. To recap, I previously made a trip to this location to purchase some Yugioh singles. Prior to making the trip, I called them and they told me they went by the market prices listed on TCG.com. When I got to the store, they were quoting me prices that were much higher than the TCG.com market prices and that threw me way off. If they weren't going to honor the prices they told me over the phone, why make me drive almost 20 miles away to be told something else different. I left and decided I wouldn't buy anything from them if they were running the ole bait and switch tactics. About a month later, my cousin wanted to see what they had in stock and I decided to drive him to TCG. To call them out on their bait and switch tactics, I asked them straight up why I was told one thing over the phone and when I came into their store, they told me something else different. The store manager/owner gave me a good explanation and said their card prices are sold at a minimum because the customer is paying something like an organizational fee. He said if there was a particular card someone was looking for, they could locate it under 30 seconds and won't be looking through boxes and boxes of cards for several minutes because all of their stuff is organized and in order. I understood that concept because it's very rare that someone can go to a card shop and the product is well organized. I wish they would have explained that to me during my first visit. It actually makes a lot of sense. Other than that, their place is very organized, its very clean, the playing area is very cozy, and they have almost everything that you might be looking for. Their prices for singles may be a little high, but they'll definitely have what you're looking for and it beats buying your stuff directly than taking a chance with an online vendor and possibly getting scammed. read more

I don't collect/play cards and/or play tabletop games, I just go there for the retro video games. So, keep that in mind. They have GREAT stock with plenty to choose from. But all the staff is always by all the cards, there's never anyone by the games to let you look at things in the case, etc. It's a little annoying finding someone every time you want to look at a binder of loose games or see the quality of a game in the case. Not ripping people off on tcg for something that cost 40$ selling it for over 300 when people who should have gotten them didn't. So they will charge over 400% markup because some sucker will pay for it. I'm autistic and disabled and magic is a big part of my life for 32 years so when I see things like this especially from a wpn store it really doesn't sit right you guys are supposed to support the community not empty its pockets. I've made a list of all the stores and been in contact with wizards and Hasbro and they are also looking into the wpn stores and the exploit with the tech people. I'm a journalist and one that f the first Magic players I will always fight for what is right. You guys make it unattainable for people like me and it's sickening. Like I understand things will go up but to straight up just go for the throat is wrong. Magic used to be about community, friends and family the past 8 years all I see is people who only care about money and what they can get from others. You guys are pushing people away from magic along with wizards and Hasbro for allowing all this to happen. read more

In 2022 Robert Gress (owner of Tournament City Games), Nicholas Minio, and I worked together at YCS Hartford to win an uncut sheet containing foil test print cards and ghost rare copies of crystal clear wing synchro dragon. We all agreed prior to the event that we would work together and split the profit three ways when it sold. The sheet was stored at Tournament City Games for the time being. Three years later I wake up to a facebook post of the same, one of a kind, sheet being listed for sale by a guy named Landon Artherholt. After some digging I learn that they sold the sheet out of the public eye to avoid giving us a cut. When nick made his distaste about the situation known they messaged him privately and paid him (sounds a lot like hush money) to try to stop the noise around the situation, yet nothing has been said to me. I've known the owners of tournament city games for years so none of this surprises me. The talks of not giving me my cut began shortly after we won the sheet because Robert had put in more tickets towards it than I did. I do think it's worth noting that the reason for this is that I actually competed in side events to earn my portion of the tickets whereas he (against Konami policy) purchased his tickets from participants at the event. This store has a great selection of single cards and gradeo cards the prices are mostly fair and the store is layed out well. I was just at their new location in the mall. this is my 2nd time going and I have not had pleasant experiences both times. The first time I went I went to look for bulk for a master set I was completing and the guy was very nice at first I looked through the cards told him which ones I wanted and he said it would be a dollar per card on cards that were like 30 - 50 cents so I declined, cause when purchase over 30 or more cards that adds up. I then saw a jirachi plushie I wanted. I saw it was 50 dollars?!? And it was damaged so I asked if they would be able to discount it. the guy said yes but only down to 40 l looked up the plush online I could order the same one for 27 dollars! The second time I went it was even worse I asked to look through bulk again and the guy just look at me and said no. We don't allow people to look through our bulk which I knew wasn't true cause the last time I went the guy allowed me to look through it. So I told him what cards I was looking for and he looked for them at first but since I was looking for so many cards he got lazy and said "here look through them yourself" and I was like okay but he literally just told me I wasn't allowed to look through it? I grabbed the cards I wanted, he starts pricing the cards out then he gets to a pikachu card I was looking to buy. this card is valued at about 15 dollars on teg player. he said it was going to be 25?? Which wasn't true at all so I said I don't want it anymore. While this is happening my friend is buying a terastal festival box from the counter he assumes he's buying a Japanese box since it was 90 dollars we get out to the car and find out it's Korean which Korean boxes are 40 dollars literally everywhere else. They never told him it wasn't Japanese. So yeah I would not recommend this place at all incredibly rude staff and sketchy business practices UPDATE: I am raising my review from 2 to 3 stars cause I returned to tournament city recently and had a very pleasant experience this time the staff greeted me as I walked up to the counter and asked if I needed anything I came back again to look through the bulk once again and this time a different guy helped me and was very polite he helped me look for the cards I needed and gave me a fair price on all of it we had a good conversation at the registers and I was on my way! read more

I came in to trade in some NES games and I got one cleaned by the excellent staff and I also found 2 NES games that I have been looking for for some time including the Knight Rider NES game!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These guys run a fantastic shop! Their prices for singles are reasonable, and they have an immense library of cards available. Events constantly going (though I wish I could attend a Pokémon tourney on a weeknight!), great selection of sleeves, play mats, dice and toys. If you live in Frederick, play a card game and don't shop here, you must own a competing shop (though even they would shop here, the selection's so darn good!) I went here for the first time yesterday for the video games, the video game selection was pretty decent and the prices are amazing. I have an app on my phone that tells me the going rate and most of the games were priced well below the going rate or at the going rate I was very happy to see that because some stores charge 1.5x the going rate and they don't even bother to clean the items. All the games that I purchased were in very good condition. I will be a regular from now on to an extent as I drove there from WV. Great store. read more

Great card/game shop that has tournaments almost everyday. The people who work there are friendly and are always willing to help. On most occasions, they'll have every card you need to fix your deck. The best thing about this shop is that instead of getting a card online, I'm able to cross the street and pick up the last card for my deck. Overall great people and great product!!! read more

Large collection of cards , really nice/knowledgable staff as well as the ability to haggle prices. If you only want one really cheap card they'll probably charge you a dollar but that is what TCG does also. If u try to only order one card online that's gonna happen as well , businesses need to make money. However you are allowed to haggle here. Suppose you want 3 cards at .40c a piece, you could offer a dollar and they'd probably take the deal. Overall really cool place and they have a small locals every week if that's your thing. Some magic cards as well but I will say this is primarily a yugioh shop. In addition they have used video games on the side and smash tournaments as well. read more
