Short Answer: Wouldn't recommend Long Answer: Had high hopes for this place as this Suite hasn't had success in the past. The ambiance is great! But the food quality and presentation absolutely doesn't match. We ordered Calamari Fritti and the sauces came in a plastic container and you can taste the chalkiness in the batter. The Patatas Bravas presented and tasted like boiled potatoes with a basic sauce. The Filetto al Vino Rosso steak was tender, but the potatoes and veggies lacked flavor and look as if it came from a lean cuisine. The mussels were very salty and broth was quite simple with onions. Customer service was nice. I'm hoping this place can pull through because we need more great restaurants in our La Mesa Village! read more

This is the second restaurant on La Mesa Boulevard we have eaten at in one week! The village is becoming a culinary hot spot! We just ate at Tour de Tapas tonight, and it was fantastic! We had octopus and sausage(a Spanish dish) as well as Rockfish with vegetables and an order of great bread. We also had an apricot crepe with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Everything we had was fresh, handmade, and delicious! The service was impeccable, and the ambiance, though casual, was delightful. We also had a very nice conversation with the general manager, who was friendly and warm. I also love that when you eat tapas, you get such a variety of tastes. It had been awhile since I had had tapas, and it was a great experience! This is a wonderful place, and I highly recommend it! read more

I absolutely love every dish I try here. The service is top notch, the handsome friendly wait staff is personable and once and a while give you little extras. The restaurant is well decorated and plenty to look at (besides your phone) if you're dining alone. My favorite dishes are the Filet Mignon and the Salmon, both come with a small portion of vegetables . The tomato soup is also amazing. Previously only a dinner place, I am happy to report they are open for lunch! read more

The food was very bland. The best tapas I've had in San Diego was back in the day at Cafe Sevilla in downtown. The dishes were very tasty, rich and well-seasoned. I loved the shrimp croquettes, the lamb and chicken in rich, deeply flavored sauces, served hot. At Tour de Tapas, the dishes were so under-seasoned and bland, and not hot. The Poulet came as a single breaded lump in a tasteless white sauce. Inside was solid, unflavored chicken. The Octopus/Squid dish, served with sausage was just strange. Even the Crema Catalina was odd - it was cold (Crème Brûlée, a close cousin is usually served warm from the grill. I'm guessing this has been prepared earlier). It had a very strange smoky flavor and the custard was thin. The baguette was burnt, and the wine selection not great. The service was good, and the atmosphere nice but I wouldn't go back. read more

This restaurant is such a fantastic addition to the village of La Mesa. We were seated promptly and had the menu explained to the 4 of us. We started with the Bruschetta, the bread and the French onion soup. Then we had the Poulet cordon bleu, the Gamberetti e Pinoli, Filetto Al Vino Rosso, Lamb Osso Buco. And to cap it off, the Chocolate Mousse. The servings arrived at a nice pace, were plated beautifully, and were nice and hot. Marco was very helpful with all our questions and was fun to talk to. We had a cozy table in the back which was great for conversation. I highly recommend this restaurant. We will return soon to try more selections. read more

A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH This little gem of a restaurant, tucked away in suburban La Mesa, was a great find. We went for an early dinner and had no problem getting a table immediately. As advertised, the menu consists mainly of small plates (some bigger than others). Our server was friendly, answered our questions, and was unobtrusively efficient. The food ranged from good to excellent. Both soups (French onion and Spanish Crema di Serrano) were delicious. We were glad we ordered both and shared. Paella was good, a little under-seasoned and a little over-cooked, but with lots of fresh seafood and good-quality rice. Bruschetta was tasty (though very garlicky), but kind of a small portion. Desert of crepes Suzette, while also small, was delicious. The wine list is impressive for a small restaurant, with plenty of wines by the glass. There also is an extensive selection of high-quality beers on tap. Overall, we were happy with our dinners and will be back to try more of the menu. This place is already very good and has the potential to be great. I hope they make it, as they are only open for dinner, which is a challenge for any eating establishment. Also, parking can be difficult, with a lot of other bars and restaurants in the immediate area competing for street meters. So, give it a try while it lasts. read more

We were immediately greeted with a warm welcome and seated without delay. The tapas were fantastic! We started with Bruschetta and a couple of drinks, and the olive oil they used was delicious. The Pulpo took us right back to our trip in Portugal--it was absolutely amazing! We also tried the Poulet Cordon Bleu, which we loved for its crispy texture and rich flavorful sauce. For dessert, we indulged in Crepes Suzette, which had the perfect hint of orange. The ambiance was delightful, and the staff were incredibly attentive. Honestly I was so excited to try this place as someone who lives in the neighborhood. The ambiance was amazing but food was actually really bad and not worth it.. I never sent back a meal in my life and had to reject the octopus because it was so chewy I couldn't swallow it. The bread on my mussels was completely stale and the calamari was nothing but tasteless and something you could get at a pizza joint. We love small plates and were excited to try this new LaMesa restaurant. Service was exemplary; we were greeted as if we were loved regulars and shown to a seat in the small restaurant. We perused the menu, took in the lovely ambience, and enjoyed a glass of wine while we listened to very appropriate European music. The wine list was small but appeared to be nicely curated. Randy, our waiter recommended the special, Osso Bucco, which we ordered to share and paired it with an order of Bruschetta, and 2 bowls of French Onion soup. The very garlicky bruschetta was great! We'll order this again but next time we'll make that 2 orders! The onion soup was fine. The Osso Bucco on rice was excellent. Unfortunately, we were too full to explore dessert. As I mentioned, the entire service experience was terrific, friendly but not intrusive, food showed up perfectly timed. Wow! Well, I was a little bit bummed that another restaurant opened with a sort of Italian theme in the village. I'm not anymore. My friend and I weren't super hungry so we split a couple things. We tried the soup that has Spanish sausage and bacon in it and it was amazing! Then we also tried the Quattrof fromage pasta. Very flavorful and yummy! Portions were great! My husband and I were in La Mesa for another event. Afterward, we couldn't decide where to eat. We didn't want to go to the same old places. Then we walked by Tour de Tapas. We went inside to look at their menu and were told they hadn't officially opened yet, but everything was ready to go for a "dress rehearsal." We decided to give the place a try and we are glad we did! I started off with the Heirloom Caprese. For the main dish, I had the Castillos de Cordero and my husband had the Spanish Paella. I finished off the meal with the Crepes Suzette. Everything was delicious! I finally found a place that knows how to make Crepes Suzette the way my Dad did when we lived in France!
