They were able to schedule a next-day, emergent load-out for me, provided me a realistic price-estimate for my belongings, and a written confirmation of the appointment (had a 16-ft PODS container parked outside of my new apartment). Michael gave me a courtesy call 15 minutes before arrival (their arrival was right on time). I was very impressed and a bit surprised at the speed of their service. I hired three guys to carry 1200 square feet worth of heavy, wood furniture, boxes and kitchen appliances up three flights of stairs. I was in the military for 10 years and conducted many moves; I've never had a move that took less than five hours to complete. These guys did it in under four. Do I recommend Little Guys? ABSOLUTELY. They took an appropriate amount of time, not so rushed that something would get broken and not so slow that they were trying to extend their time for pay. They wrapped my large furniture in blankets then plastic and it keeps those pieces from being damaged. Nothing was broken during the move. They were polite and efficient. Of course, initially I called the toll free number to schedule our ABF order…read more But when the guys in Lubbock (which was the closest ABF service center to Hobbs, NM) called me the following week before our trailer would be dropped off, I was pleasantly surprised with their service. It's difficult enough packing your entire house into one semi trailer much less in just a few days for a transit of well over 1,000 miles (destination = Los Angeles, CA). This service center was very accommodating, though. They stated that they make drop-offs and pick-ups only on Tuesday and Thursday in Hobbs. So regardless of what the representative may tell you on the phone, they do not know clearly how all of the service centers operate. TIP: Call the service centers that you know will be handling your shipment as soon as posible to get all the details that you can about arrival and departure times. They cannot give you exact times, but estimates. I was very satisfied with my dealings with the Lubbock ABF service center. They did exactly what they promised. They also shared their suggestions with me about what to do when we arrived in L.A. (even though I had already read over this information via email and the ABF website). Total cost for using their services for the entire trip: $2,669 (11,200 lbs.). Compare that to the $10,000 ESTIMATE that I received from a full service moving company. They did not provide an estimate in writing,…read morewhich I should have known was a sign that they are not reputable, but we went ahead with them because they provided a good estimate and we knew someone who used them for a move several years ago. This was a huge mistake. We had a terrible experience with them including major delays, $7k in damage to our belongings, lying about costs, and more. During the move, they kept asking us for more money and making it seem like we had to pay in order for the move to happen. They claimed that the truck we needed to rent would cost over $4200, when it cost $1500. They committed multiple violations of DOT regulations for interstate moves -- they did not provide an inventory or any paperwork, they did not weigh our goods, etc. They treat employees terribly: they did not give workers details of the trip in advance, they did not give them adequate money for fuel and hotels, they had them driving without breaks, etc. We heard one of the managers, Dawn, berating her employees (who were working hard and not doing anything wrong) over the phone while he was unloading our items. At one point, as our items had been delayed almost two days and the arrival of the trucks kept getting delayed further and further, we were sitting in our empty home in fear that our things would never arrive. They did eventually show up, but they overcharged us to the tune of about $10,000. When we raised our complaints about the poor service received and reported damages, Dawn's first response was "I'm out of the office for the rest of this week." By that time, we knew we couldn't trust her. She has now stopped responding to us. We will be reporting them to the FMCSA, the IRS, and anyone else we can, but what we most want is to save anyone else from throwing their money away. Do not believe a word they say. Hire literally anyone else.

We hired Affordable Moving to move some of the larger items from one home to another and this job…read morewas clearly to much for the two movers they sent us. They broke the bottom of our massage chair and ripped the leather. They damaged our mattresses by dragging them, they scratched paint off the walls of the house by hitting them with furniture. It was a nightmare. Oh and good luck getting them to replace your damaged items. I've had to call them repeatedly, each time being told they are working on it and will call us back to which never happens. Finally today when I called, the lady said she wasn't good at looking things up so she had me find the item weight of our badly damaged chair (over $2,000 chair) and told me that she would write me a check for $205. I should have known better when they pulled up in a wrecked truck with a dented up trailer. Yes this company might be cheaper than the others but there's a reason and you pay for way more than you get. They advertise that they are responsible for your items..... that's NOT true. This company is a joke!
