Palm Beach Tan is almost identical and has amazing rates on their monthly membership deals! Their beds are clean and come with a towel and eye goggles. Signing up as a new member with Rachel, she first gave me a tour of all the beds while explaining the different packages and beds, as well as how to use each one. I recently tried the Mystic Spray Tan ( you receive a free spray tan when becoming a member) after tanning first in the level 3 bed, I was excited to try the Cocktail Tanning. I was a little hesitant about the spray tan only because in the past I never had good luck with getting spray tans - this time, it was amazing. Rachel came back with me after finishing up in the bed to show me how to begin the spray tan and little secrets she had about making sure everything was even. The other nice part about Cocktail Tanning is that they give you a robe to put on after the tanning bed so you don't have to waste time putting your clothes on/off between sessions. The only thing I would have changed after his experience is doing the level three dark tan with the mystic spray tan, only because I would have liked a dark shade. All in all, amazing customer service every time. Especially when working with Rachel, she is kind and knows a lot about the beds and the products. She also tells you all the secrets to getting the perfect tan and how to get it to last longer.

They have lied about needing parents to be present every time you spray tan but I've called other Palm beach tan locations which told me once your parent signed a waiver you are all good for a year. They have closed very early multiple times and it's impossible to get a single spray tan to them. Not to mention the workers are insanely rude and I now have to go out of my way to the Niles location which I don't even mind because they are amazing. Even their manager has said they have got tons of horrible reviews on the wilmette location. They even wrote notes to tell the wilmette workers that I'm allowed to get a spray tan without having a parent present every time. Something needs to change because it's been going on for a while. Everything looks better with a little tan, although as I've gotten older (and wiser) I've learned it's best to stay out of the sun. And it's hard to find the sun when winter shows up in Chicago! I've been on the search for a good spray tan. I recently went to my trusty salon to get a last minute tan and when I came home (and even days later) my husband asked me why I was trying to have the same skin color as Trump. Eek. A few friends had mentioned that for the most natural spray tan try Glow by Kelsey. I booked an appointment online and was pleased to see she was just 5 minutes from my house. I received a test the night before reminding me to be showered/exfoliated before my tan and to wear loose dark fitted clothing. I showed up for my appointment and was greeted by the adorable Kelsey looking perfectly tan herself. I explained the color I was going for- a natural looking glow that didn't look like a spray tan. She said she had the perfect custom solution and I liked that she customizes for each person. Other places I've been to seem to do one solution for all and my fair skin looks way different than some of my darker friends so we clearly shouldn't be using the same solution. Kelsey had a room set up for tans and showed me to the bathroom inside of it where she had all the necessities (disposable shower caps, thongs, etc). Minutes later I was in her tanning booth and she was spraying me with a cold solution. While chilly it wasn't nearly as uncomfortably cold as some others I"ve been in. Kelsey has 2 types of solutions: a rapid where you shower later that day and then one where you keep it on overnight. She thought the rapid would meet my needs best and I personally liked the idea of not having it on my skin overnight. I always feel icky sleeping in it, although Kelseys product wasn't as sticky and didn't smell as bad as others. I left dark, but not too dark...and certainly not orange. And it must have been a good tan because my 14 year old who told me she would never fake tan because it looks "so fake" asked if she could get one for both halloween and her upcoming bday. 5 hours later I showered and was left with the perfect glow. Even my husband agreed it was a good tan! I'll be back to see Kelsey whenever i have events and have a feeling my daughter will be seeing her for dances and other special occasions too. I can even see why she has a lot of regulars who come bi-weekly because "nothing makes you feel more alive than a good tan."

I just had my first tanning session with L.A. Tan and I enjoyed it! I've always wanted to try a…read moretanning booth but never carved out the time to do so until recently. This location was the highest rated on Yelp so a week before my first session, I visited this location and spoke with Maya. Maya gave me a quick layout of the land and showed me the types of tanning beds and additional services (i.e. Red Light Therapy and VersaSpa/Spray Tan) they offer. I had my sights set on the tanning beds but wanted to choose the right one for me and my skin type. I'm already pigmented and can tan easily so I opted to start out with the level 2 type tanning bed. The tanning beds are graded by the level of (UVA/UVB) intensity with levels 1-2 being the lowest grade. The 1-2 levels are great for beginners and those new to tanning facilities. Levels 3-4 are your intermediate levels and lastly levels 5-6 offer the most intense, deep color tans requiring minimal time in the bed/booth. They have standing tanning booths or lie flat tanning bed options. I chose to do a level 2 bed and laid in their Uwe Lotus. I'll have to admit I did feel a little claustrophobic in the bed but after a few minutes, you get used to it. It can get a little loud inside because you'll hear the cooling fans go but the beds are nice and warm. Since you're surrounded by lamps, there really is no need to turn during your session to even out your tan. Maya recommended using the lotions prior to tanning since the lotions help moisturize your skin while locking in and retaining the color from the lamps well after your session. Being new to this I bought their half ounce sample lotions. I used the entire sample packets for my face and body. After one session I instantly noticed color on my skin! I did not come out looking orange (which I was afraid of) and I left a shade darker with a nice tan! You will need eye goggles to protect your eyes while you're in their bed. They sell them on site for $4.00. My overall tanning session was 12 minutes but set aside at least a half hour for lotion prep before with time to change afterwards. The cost of my tan session was under $18 as of 2.3.2024. This was minus the cost of the lotion and goggles purchased onsite. If you've never done it before, I would recommend trying it once. This is my first time going to LA Tan. I made an appointment for three people. I scheduled well in advance and adjusted my time/date once to accommodate my group. I told them 4:30. At 4:13, I get a phone call asking where we're at. An innocent miscommunication--I let the girl on the phone know that we were meant to be there at 4:30, and should be there soon. It was put down incorrectly on their side, not a big deal at all. I even clarified that there was no way were set for 4pm, bc all of had to coordinate with work to get to the 4:30 appointment. We walk in, there are two receptionists. I say "Hi, I was just on the phone with you, we have three airbrush spray tans at 4:30." They're polite to begin with (the brunette was polite the whole time, no issues with her). The blonde lady asks for a name, I give her my name and let her know that over the phone they had just asked for a number that was best to reach me. I then clarify, we're all on the same appointment together. This is where things start to go south, for literally no reason. The blonde employee starts to have a really snippy attitude. She very passive aggressively stated: each of you needs to set up your own profile right now. You need three separate profiles for each person getting a spray tan today. What is the first name?" And at this point, she is looking at me, and repeats the first three letters of my last name. So I begin to finish my last name, and then she snaps at me again, and says she's not speaking to me (which is confusing, because she just recited the start of my last name). I say you're being very unclear, and she says I'm not being unclear. I worked in food service for YEARS, if someone is confused, you try your best to reasonably explain it, you don't snap at them again! It's awkward at this point and the two people with me are also really shocked at her response and are just staring. At this point, I'm not going to give my business to people who are rude. And I tell her that we're leaving, and that she's being very (expletive) rude. I have no idea if the time miscommunication stressed her out, or if that's her general demeanor, but there are better ways to communicate to (NEW) clients. Her attitude was so ridiculous I couldn't possibly understand being that irate over a miscommunication (on the phone or in person). Thankfully, we were able to get serviced elsewhere, and are happy with how it turned out.
