I came to Northshore nails and day spa for the first time today and it was such a lovely experience!! I got a no chip manicure with Lidia, who is kind, gentle, timely, and very informed about healthy practices for my nails (instead of pushing costly, damaging techniques like they do at other nail salons). And my nails look so great!! They also have a great selection of dazzle dry polish and I can't wait to give that a try next time. I highly recommend Lidia and this salon! The DDnails2025 tour continues. I've never been in this plaza, Carillon Square, before. There's a Club Pilates, a Foodstuffs, and more! I was glad to be able to book online. The nail area seemed a little small to me and my tech had to keep stopping to answer the phone, check people out, etc so it wasn't very relaxing. They didn't sterilize the tools (or have them in a sealed pouch like some salons do) and I was thinking maybe I would get an infection (I didn't - I repeat, I was fine). They didn't charge extra to have a few different colors of DD. Overall a good job. read more

I made an appointment here after reading all of the good reviews and was looking forward to it. I had a terrible experience. My daughter and I arrived for our appointments and were told they scheduled something different and didn't have time for the no chip mani/pedi's we scheduled. Then they said they would fit us in. My nail tech was rude and very rough performing the pedicure. She started applying the polish and I had to ask her twice to completely removing the old polish. She was unprofessional and did a lousy job with the polish. I decided not to go ahead with my manicure as I just wanted to get out of there asap. I did kindly share my feedback with the owner who told me she has gotten similar feedback with this nail tech but didn't seem to care much. Obviously I will not be returning. read more

I just stopped coming here because the last couple times weren't up to par. The last visit, my nails were over 50% chipped not even a week later. Over time, I noticed my big toe nail develop a dry texture I've never experienced before, and I think it might have to do with the nail tools that are shared and used from client to client. When I had my teal polish removed prior to a french mani for my wedding, I had to make a comment to the woman a couple times because there was teal residue on the side of a couple of my nails, and who wants to see that under a french mani?? Reason why I go to this spa: Everyone there are all so sweet. They give me tips to keep my nail healthier, gives me many different options to relex (teas, shoulder massage(this os awesome!) I made an appointment and was pleasantly surprised to see a text confirmation with the details - none of the nail places I've been to use technology to schedule appointments- first plus. When I arrive I am out into a private area for my pedi, which was so relaxing. Then I got a no chip French mani and Lily took her time to make sure the tips were meticulous. While I was there, every customer was greeted warmly and every nail tech was professional. I also learned that there's an online reservation system I will be using for my future appointments. I just got a no chip mani with regular pedicure. My pedicure was done by Sarah. She seemed nice but as soon as began, I knew my experience was not going to be good. She did not clip my toes, only filed them down. She was filing so hard that I thought my nail was going to fall off. Then while she was cutting my cuticles, she cut too much of my skin off so I was bleeding but did not apologize and continued to put scrub and alcohol on my toes. Once I told her I was in pain and looked at my toe, she apologized. By this time I knew my toes would not have a good paint job on it and once The pedicure was over, I took a picture of my toes. I was disappointed because I thought this was going to be a nice relaxing experience for me. My toes looked like a hot mess. There was nail polish on my skin, my toes were not completely painted, and the shape of my toes don't look nice. Not only did she do a horrible job, she forgot to massage and put lotion on my legs/toes so I feel like I didn't not get the full experience of a pedicure. This is the worst pedicure I have ever gotten in my life! When the receptionist asked me how my pedicure was, I was honest and told him that she made my toe bleed and he suggested that my toes were just very sensitive. I have never had a pedicure done where the technician made me bleed. I was clearly upset but nothing was done to rectify the situation. Luckily I had Angela for my no chip manicure after my pedicure which was a pleasant experience. However, while I was getting my nails done, another lady complained about Sarah (the technician who did my toes) and demanded another technician. First of all, I need to make a comment about how convenient their online booking system is. I was browsing spas in the north suburbs at 2:00am (couldn't sleep) and easily made an appointment for that same day. How easy is that? OH, and I also have to mention that if your service isn't available that day, the system will tell you the next time it will be available. AMAZING. I wanted to get around three services done and the system let me know the earliest possible date to do all three at one time. Talk about convenient. Shimmy was my technician for my microdermabrasion and facial. She was so sweet and talked me through everything she was about to do. She kept checking to see if the pressure was too much and wanted to make sure I felt comfortable. I felt so relaxed to the point where I fell asleep. Definitely worth the money. Also, this place always gives you a way to save money. (On their site, you can get $10 off if you register for an account on their booking system). I don't know what I expected, considering I have never had a no-chip manicure before, but I am pretty sure some of the things that happened to me aren't a part of the regular routine. If anyone can tell me that any part of this is normal I will absolutely amend my review. First of all, it took an hour and a half to do a french style. Then I was made to bleed (yes BLEED) *FOUR* times during the process. She was scraping at my nails so hard the cuticles burst and one kept bleeding for almost five full minutes. After the second time it happened though she kind of huffed and looked irritated like somehow it was my fault. Then I was told that if anything happened to the manicure within seven days (this number was reiterated a few times), that I could come back and they would fix it for free. Well, I was on my honeymoon for the next eight days so that wasn't helpful. Because on the third day two fingers bubbled, the sixth one of the nails broke and today (the 10th day), three have completely peeled off. This was after I was told I would have a minimum of 2 weeks without any problems. I had bought one of those FlyCoupon dealies, so it hadnt been all that expensive, but had I paid full price I would have been pretty sore. And no, no just bashed-to-hell-cuticle sore either. read more

I went to North Shore Nails & Day Spa for my first Chip Free Pedicure. I have just one word for you: Amazing. When I arrived for the pedicure I was expecting your normal 30-45 minute event. I was pretty surprised to learn that a Chip Free Spa Pedicure takes about an hour and a half to complete. I feel like I never take 90 minutes to just sit back and relax, so it was a great little break. My nail technician was Shimmy, who was absolutely fantastic. {Ask for her! You will love her!} She explained the entire process of a chip free manicure, and I'd love to explain it to you, but it's pretty technical so I'll try to summarize: * The polish that goes on your toes for a Chip Free manicure comes from Japan. * Don't confuse this special polish with the knock-offs you'll find from other well-known nail polish companies. The polish North Shore Nails uses is actually healthy for your nails! * A well-done chip free pedicure will last 2-3 months! You will want to get it changed when it starts growing out too much from your toe. The polish itself will not actually come off your nail unless you return to the salon to have it removed. * 2-3 months is a long time to have one pedicure, but here's what's awesome: You can still cut and trim your nails whilst polished and you won't wreck your polish job! The pedicure works just like a normal pedicure would, except they use special polish. Your feet will spend a lot of time under a UV light, drying the polish 100% between layers. Perhaps the absolute best part about the entire manicure? Your toes are dry when you leave the salon! No worries about smudges. I've had my pedicure for a week now and my toes look wonderful. The polish is pretty and shiny and looks like the traditional polish you get out of a bottle from CVS. Normally I wouldn't pay $70 for a pedicure. During the Summer though, I normally get many pedicures because my feet our out in the open. At anywhere from $25-$35 each, that money really adds up. In the long run, a chip free pedicure is actually the more economical option! Crazy, right? As for North Shore Nails & Day Spa, it is pretty much the cutest little place ever. I was in my own private pedicure room! Plus, everyone working was so dang nice! When I first walked in someone ran over to tell me how much they loved the color I had just painted my finger nails. They offered me beverages, and hung up my coat. Shimmy gave me a big hug when I left. It was a great experience! I don't spend a lot of time in Glenview, but I'm going to be headed up there now once ever 2-3 months, for sure! Also - one final tip that Shimmy shared with me - Insiders know to check-in on Yelp when you're there because they upload a new coupon each month! I treated myself to a spa day. I had a no-chip manicure, spa pedicure, and a massage. The prices were reasonable - it cost around $150 for everything. Each service I received was excellent. In fact, I think I must have had one of the most relaxing pedicures ever. They have private pedicure rooms so you don't feel as if you are part of a factory. They are also one of the few places on the North Shore who uses the Bioscuplt no-chip system. I left feeling incredibly relaxed. The only negative was a slight scheduling issue, but that was handled incredibly professionally. You should check this hidden treasure out! read more

I usually somehow manage to screw up and smudge my nail polish by the time I make it to my car but Abby made sure it was fully dry! Today I tried Northshore Nails and Day Spa for a mani -pedi. It's located in the corner of the strip mall by Lalo's Mexican Restaurant. I was in search of a place open till 7pm. I was very impressed with the quality of service. I was greeted promptly upon arrival and treated to a cup of tea. I chose the jasmine tea. I then perused the color choices. Next I chose an herbal tea for my foot soak. I felt that was nice touch from the traditional salt soaks and I was giving a warm neck wrap while I relaxed in the massage chair. It was very relaxing as well. I like that the foot soak stations is a separate rooms so you really get a chance to unwind. Once my pedicure was done by Hang, she escorted me to the manicure station and she refreshed my neck wrap. Once my manicure was done I sat in the drying area and received a nice shoulder massage. The day spa is a lovely, colorful and relaxing space. Tim the owner is extremely friendly and goes out of his way to make sure every guest is comfortable. While I was there I met a woman who's been going to them on and off for over 7 years. That says a lot about their service and quality as a salon. The spa does offer a Loyalty Program and they accept SpaFinder gift cards. I look forward to returning to the day spa to try their other services. read more

After going back a couple more times for no chip/nochip removal/regular manicure, I must subtract a star because of the inconsistent results. If it's busy, you got less than great results, and I feel like they rush through the service, which is lame. I'm very picky about my nail polish finish (no bubbles, as close to cuticle and sides as possibly) and I have not always been satisfied with that here. Also, it's pricey. I'm going to try a new place in Lincolnshire called La Beaute or something, as they started offering no-chip manicures as well, and I got a WeDeal for $20 (regularly $35, still better than $50). I had a wonderful Swedish Massage today with Neecia..forgive my spelling :) When I arrived I was greeted by a friendly gentleman and owner. They sat me by a sofa lounger area was small but quaint with cozy ambiance. The area was doubled as lounge slash nail drying area which was kinda tight while I waited a few minutes for my therapist. I was led to a red door and room was small with track lighting, a nice shelving unit with plants and candles and soft music. My therapist had me start face down and proceded to apply light pressure to warm up my tissues. 25 minutes alone on the back I would have liked more time applied on arms but she was phenomenal and legs she said she do on the opposite side. On the flip, lights were dimmed and she proceded with the legs 3 minutes on the thighs great pressur 5 on feet and 2 on each calf. She worked my fingers and forearms about 8 minutes and on to the neck. I was nodding off but awoken by a very fragrant steams aroma of lavender was nice but kinda in your face suprise. I would have liked shoulders done but was a pass and a light massage on my decolletage area was kinda nice. She ended with a quick scalp and face massage and what seemed like reiki for a finish was very pleasant. Neecia had a great personality and definitely does great back work. Definitely a 60 minute massage. I thank you and will be back! read more

Went there in May for pedicure. Reception and taking of appointment was efficient. When I arrived tho, I had to wait for about 15 minutes. My pedi was done by Laura. She was ok but seemed to just go through the motions of the process without enthusiasm of any sort -- quick run-thru everything (clean, cut, quick massage which was over and done in like 20 seconds, paint, done). No feeling of being in a "spa". while i sat at the area to have my toes dried she did like under-a minute worth of loud back slapping. For the money I paid and the waiting despite my arriving on time for my appointment, i did not feel pampered at all. I guess the pedi was alright but I will not be coming back. read more

I went back to this salon after purchasing an internet deal of $10 for $20 worth of services. I picked a $20 service - a french manicure. Yana did my nails and she was just awesome. She was really thorough in pushing back my cuticles and filing my nails into shape. I'll admit, it had been a few months since my last mani, and my nails were looking kind of sad until Yana fixed them. I was most surprised that my mani took a full hour. Usually, nail technicians rush through manicures in 30-40 minutes, so I was impressed by it. It's been a week and I only just got a teeny tiny chip on one of my nails, which I think is pretty fabulous considering my french manis always chip really easily. A few stray observations: - They do not let you tip on a credit card. If you pay for your services with a credit card, you put your cash in a little envelope and put your technician's name on it. - The pedicure room and the manicure room are separate. I was kind of bummed to see that since my friend and I scheduled our appointments at the same time so we could chat. No chatting happening when she was in another room getting her pedi. - They used to be open until 9pm on weeknights, making it an easy stop after work. They now close at 7pm. - Make an appointment. My friend and I scheduled made our appointments two weeks before we wanted to come in, and all that was open were 4pm appointments. read more

Got a deep tissue massage. The lady was super friendly and did a good job. I unfortunately didn't get to my nail appointment as I had been feeling under the weather and they were super cool about me canceling it at the last minute. The "spa" environment needs an update. Holes in the walls, massage room was small etc. My massage therapist was playing soothing music off of her cell phone with it buzzing from text messages throughout the massage. Shimmy is the only good thing about this place. Been going to her for almost 2 years now but scheduling is so hard! Everytime I try to book a day and time, they couldn't accommodate me and there's always a glitch in their system like their staff communication is not effective. I scheduled an appointment through their texting system which they confirmed and when I showed up for my appointment, they did not have me on the schedule. The lady on the desk did not really do a good job trying to explain how that happened or at least be apologetic how I showed up there for my supposed to be appointment only to be turned away. She only asked me if I could come back tomorrow instead. Bad customer service. She did not even try to at least show that she was trying to fix the problem or avoid future problems like that. read more
