Well this bar lives up to the name of being totally awesome! Out on a friday night I wasn't ready to call it a night. I found that TAB was kinda on my route back to the hotel so I headed that way on a solo adventure. Unlike the droves of other bars nearby, this one is tucked away by itself and downstairs in a basement. The vibe is all 80's/90's and heavy on nostalgia for millennials. I loved the beetlejuice snake popping in and out of the ceiling! There is a whole room of pool tables, a section of arcade games, and other fun activities like a photo booth. Maybe it's because I was in a good mood and a few cocktails deep, but the DJ was crushing it. He finished up with karaoke right as I arrived, but for the rest of the night he kept the energy high with amazing mixes. I have been to Totally Awesome Bar a few times, but on this Saturday afternoon it was pretty empty. It was actually the perfect opportunity for me and some girlfriends to make our own fun. There's literally a photo-booth, pool tables, arcade games and a bar with great drink options which are very reasonable. The bartender was very attentive and assertive to what we needed. We literally just had a great time for hours and the bartender was so helpful in just including himself in on our shenanigans and even taking our pictures when needed. I really love the old school decor. You can find everything from a VCR to the old school TV shows playing in the background, old school games, they even had this scary looking doll lamp and different nik knacks throughout the location. The bathroom was super cute with different paintings on the wall and it was so clean and not expected of what you would see in a bar. I definitely want to come back for karaoke or some of the other themed nights. read more

By leaps and bounds, this is my favorite bar in Savannah. I love the nostalgic vibe and for an underground bar, it is very spacious. The bartenders and incredibly nice and friendly. There are plenty of things to do here as well like arcade games, plenty of pool tables, pinball, and ski-ball! They have regular events that are always fun including pool tournaments (which I play in weekly), silent disco, comedy nights, karaoke, and even burlesque! This place is totally awesome! it's uniquely decorated indoors, plenty of pool tables, pin ball machines, and a few other arcade games. We stopped by for the monthly comedy night (first Friday), which had multiple local acts. It's a fun mix- some jokes hit harder than others but the overall talent is definitely there. This was one of our stops when some friends and I were on an underground bar crawl in downtown Savannah. I think this is probably the closet thing to a pool hall I have found in Savannah. The back room is full of a long line of red felt covered tables. The place was packed. We didn't play pool but are looking forward to coming back and trying that. There are four pin ball machines, so that's what we decided to do here. There are various other games. There are Skeletons around the place. I was more excited about this place before we went in than once we were there. First of all, it was dark out when we arrived and the sign outside is not lit up and if I recall a dark sign. We walked around a few times in the vicinity before we actually found it. Walk down the steps and you're immediately in a dirty college atmosphere bar. I felt pretty gross and didn't even want to stay, I was surprised the floors weren't sticky. We did end up playing pool which was only $1.00 a game, or 6 games for $5.00. The pool sticks were very beat up, but didn't expect much else. They apparently had a "comedy" show happening next to the bar and an employee came over to the pool side to yell at a group of guys playing pool to quiet down due to the "show" going on. read more

Our family and friends met down in Savannah for a family trip and we stumbled upon this hidden gem. We loved it so much that we went back to back 3 days in a row, and was not surprised to see other patrons back to back there as well!!! They feature live karaoke and OMG!! So many great singers can be discovered here! Lol The prices of the drinks are great and I was shocked to see such cheap prices visiting from Chicago. What a fantastic well make that Awesome bar, cool concept. Bartenders are wonderful and everyone is very LGBTQ friendly. I was there on night when they were hosting a burlesque show and let me tell you it was my first burlesque but it won't be my last. So much fun! Visited from NY with a friend of mine and the bar tenders were so kind and helpful. We didn't know what to get so they made us drinks based off what we liked. Also our first time at a silent disco. There were two djs playing different styles of music and both were amazing. You could change the station and even listen to the movies/shows playing in the background. We especially loved DJ heavy bones his set was unreal. Worst place i ever "visited". I moved in the neighborhood and was walking by after picking up takeout from tequila town. I saw the bar and thought id take a look inside, could potentially be a hangout spot. The moment i got to the bottom of the stairs, the bartender basically jumped the counter. "Can i see your id?!" (Five people total in the whole place, not crowded). Im looking confused and speechless, all five patrons staring at me for an answer. I replied, "id rather not, i just moved in the neighborhood and wanted to check...." (Was cut off mid sentence). "Well i gotta see your id to be in the bar." I got the message loud and clear, not wanted here. Me? Im 42 YEARS OLD (nowhere close to id just for walking in looking at the establishment). Black male (actually mulatto). So, yea.... Living in town we've came to this bar plenty of times, butTurns out the bouncer "manager" at the front doesn't know how to read a Florida I.D. . Our group was confused and told her it was a real I.D. But they said "they were not going to get in a debate over this" and started to become irate with us. They said they were "going to call the police" and we were ready to wait for them to clear this up, but they didn't do that and then flicked their cigarette at us and repeated they "were not getting in a debate over this".....
