Tony and I stopped into the Rusty Rudder Tap House for a $4 PBR 16oz..he the bartender called it a tall Boy...but not to the master PBR drinker Tony lol! The atmosphere was nice. It was dead except for a few shooting pool in back. I drank ice water w lemon! Tipped bartender $1 entire bill plus tip was $5 I would go again! Definitely recommend!! Full Bar Service! read more

Came here on a night after work with some colleagues for a nightcap and to watch the game. We were greeted by an enthusiastic bartender and I was equally enthused to find out they had rumplemintz. It's a solid dive bar with pool tables and lots of bar seating. I liked how unpretentious it was, and that the staff were friendly. We had a few shots and couple round of drinks and to my surprise our tab was very affordable. Not used to seeing that at bars lately I thought that was a plus! It may be one of my go to bars in Savanah when I'm back for work! read more

The shorter black hair guy in the advertising was AWESOME! (Hence the 2nd star.) The tall nasty ponytail wearing bartender was beyond rude. It was obvious he is nice to his friends but, I don't think that the bar was meant for just he and his buddies. Idk read more

Look, this is a bar. It's staffed by friendly people, and they have some decent craft beers on tap. They have multiple TV's behind the bar, and they're in what's arguably my favorite city to visit, but... At the end of the day it's still just any bar in any city, there's nothing bad about this place but there's nothing really special about this place either, I'd stop here if I was in the mood for a drink but not seek it out for a good time. read more

Apparently the bouncer can't tell a real ID from a fake if the hair color is different. Imagine being denied from a bar when you're 30 because your hair hair is a different color than your id photo. Train your bouncers. Also to note, while our friends were waiting out for the others the door guy had let in because they weren't aware he'd told our friend she couldn't come in the door said " why the fuck are yall still standing on my sidewalk, you need to get home before you get hurt" they replied they were waiting for the others inside and after everyone was outside he then said again " you need to leave and go home before you get hurt" insinuating that he was gonna do something to us which caused others in the group to yell back and fourth with him. Overall horrible experience. We're also all locals, never had an issue with this place until this incident. read more

Rusty Rudders Tap House is on the "other" side of River Street. It is the less travelled section of the street. Lot of hotels going in here though so I'm sure foot traffic will pick up. We stopped in around 3ish during the day. Nobody in the bar other than the staff. The bartender was very friendly. I would recommend this place for a drink. Very laid back when I was in there. I heard it may have more energy on weekend nights. Full bar (duh) and a decent selection of draft beers on tap. They only have Copa wines, which are the prepackaged individual servings. There is a pool table if you are in to that. Again, laid back bar. Good bartenders on staff. They do take plastic and cash. I would recommend. read more

My husband and I are visiting Savannah for the first time. Our first interaction was pleasant. We were looking for a speakeasy for a show we had tickets to and the bouncer pointed us into the right direction. We found the speakeasy and had a wonderful time at the show. After the show, we decided to go back to this bar because it seemed really fun. My husband showed his ID. The bouncer seemed at first to make small talk about our city, which is outside ATL in Gwinnett county. When asked about our city, I was the one that said it was near ATL. He said he was not going to accept our IDs because ATL is over three hours away and that this (Savannah) is in Gwinnett county. That is not true. We tried to reason with him and even show a map of the counties because we were confused and knew this to be incorrect. He acted incorrigible and said he had the right to deny entry to anyone he wanted and we were not allowed to speak to anyone else at this bar. No one should ever be denied entry just because. My husband and I still ended up having a good night all in all and had no trouble at the next place we went to. The bouncer there really needs an ego check and should learn to have a real conversation to treat people fair. read more

Cool little no-thrills "dive" bar off River street near the plant district. Walked in late night, only 1 other customer there, and ordered a beer. Played some keno. Good service and a security/door guy. TVs and laid back vibe. Nothing too stand-out ish about this spot. read more

My wife and I (from Las Vegas) visited friends who have recently moved to nearby Pooler, Georgia. They both raved about Rusty Rudders and were very anxious to take us there, It did not disappoint. Great staff, fair drink prices, and a very cool/warm vibe about this bar. We will be back! read more

You're probably reading this after you were treated poorly at this establishment. Unfortunately, that was the case for me. My group included 4. My husband and myself showed ids and entered the bar. Our friends were not allowed in because one had an expired license. I was waiting at the door for my husband (restroom break) so we could move along when the bouncer realized I was with the couple that was denied entry. He told be to get out. I explained I was waiting for my husband. He said I still had to go and shoved me causing me to fall on the stairs. My friend picked me up and yelled at the bouncer so the bouncer said he was calling the cops. We should have stayed and filed assault charges but this is Savannah and after reading the reviews I'm sure this is typical and the cops allow this behavior. My bruises will heal but that bouncer will always be a piece of shit. Big Man got issues. read more

We stopped in to hear the guitar and drums trio play selections from the Outlaws and other southern rock bands. We ordered two stouts and grabbed a table. We told the server we were staying only for one beer and settled the tab. No complaints from him and no pressure to leave. We stayed about 30 minutes while the bar filled up and left. We tipped 30% on the beers. The band had good skills but the lead singer was a little weak and the poor sound mix didn't help him. When the guitars played the interludes, we were pulled in for every song. This place is a dive bar for groups serious about drinking and having a loud good time. We were surrounded by a table of girls on a bachelorette party and another table of girls just having a great time. The server stopped by both tables often and was friendly and respectful. One star off for the wet table top and general dirtiness. read more

Fantastic vibe and atmosphere! Must-go and ask for Ryan! Ryan took phenomenal care of us! NEVER stops smiling! I've traveled to all 50 states in my 30 years as an airline pilot, and I think I have literally seen it all. It doesn't get any better than this. Ryan, and this bar, have the best old-school vibe and charm. If you don't stop here, you are absolutely missing out. Thanks Ryan and Rusty Rudders for a phenomenal Savannah experience. What a sh*t show. They were the least busy bar yesterday ( st pattys day) so of course we went in. Bartenders were hammered and just straight up d bags. We asked for them to change a tv off of infomercials and on to the basketball game... to which the bartender (whom was eating a sandwich) said they are too busy and they don't have remotes... so we bought a ninja, two squeegees and a smart vac. And when we walked out two cops were chasing down one of the three hammered bartenders. read more

DANNNGGGG if you want some great drinks this is the bar to go to! They have daily specials and special drinks the bar makes. They also have Jell-O shots. Since they were out of Jell-O shots when we got here the bar tender made us regular shots that he mixed up for us instead. They were amazing! Drinks were well worth it! Decided to travel for our anniversary and go to Savannah for the weekend. Have only heard good things about Rusty Rudders so as my husband waited in another store I went in to get a few beverages. This would have been our first drink of the day. I waited a few minutes at the bar, all the while the two bartenders were cutting it up with the people sitting at the bar. Another couple walked in and stood beside me, low and behold they got served before me. I definitely got a puzzled look on my face as I'm thinking I know they saw me there. Then the very young, very out of synch with his surroundings bartender told me "you look like an angry librarian"! I said "excuse me?", he then said YOU HEARD ME. I didn't know what to say as I thought he had to be joking. He wasn't. I walked out. He then proceeds to say "whatever" and wave at me as I left. I'm A LOT of things: I'm a tough cookie. I'm a veteran. I'm a mother. I'm a tax paying citizen. I'm a Pledge of Allegiance to The Flag American, but more importantly I was taught to be kind, be respectful, be gracious and know when to walk away. I walked away on that encounter. Yes, I could've been offended, could've bantered back and forth with the guy, but why? He thinks I looked like an angry librarian because he messed up with not watching who walked up first. So what? I'll just take my sexy angry librarian self to another establishment next time we are in town. We are living in weird times right now and just going into a bar is taking a chance...taking a chance encountering angry bartenders is par for the course too it seems. read more

Wow, we were told that someone that just played at the Oprey would be there at nine, and it would be packed. At 9:30 PM, it was dead, but for a party of drunk gals who came in to use the bathroom. The first singer was good, but was a bit...different. Second guy was good, but then seemed to be tending bar. Nice bartender, but nothing to go out of the way for. read more

Hidden gem on river street! throughout my week stay in Savannah, I stumbled upon this bar. Thank god! The bartenders were awesome and the drinks were strong and very moderately priced compared to the surrounding bars! They told me to check out their sister bar (frosty frog) a few doors down and it was an adult arcade! Great place, great people... it'll be my go-to stop when I touch down in Savannah, GA again. read more

We came here on St Patty's Day (3/16/19). This place is absolutely open & not closed. I've reported it to Yelp. Hopefully they fix it soon. We stopped in here for our first drink of the day. Cute little old historic place. By the end of the night there was a huge line to get in, they have to follow the fire Marshall's code for capacity allowed. read more

Hands down the cleanest smell at I have ever been to! I didn't smell like a bar it smelt clean and fresh. The two bartenders were excellent. Music was a bit loud where we sat at the bar closest to the entrance because the speaker was just above us. Great atmosphere. read more

I was bummed reading about some of the reviews of this place from St. Patty's Day because I had a really good time but hated knowing others were not treated as well. The live music was great and while on break the modernized jukebox was a perfect option as well. The bar is pretty small but I much preferred the live old country music to the new country DJ down the strip. There is a pool table and popcorn machine and quite a bit of seating. It wasn't super packed the night we went which was nice. read more

Came in with a friend and this was our first stop on River. We figured we'd bar hop down river as tourists do. In the past, I'd only been for St Paddy's but figured there was still some nightlife going on otherwise. It was a Tuesday in the off-season but, I would say 80% of the bars were closed. We planned of having a beer and moving on but, we liked the place more than we expected. It had a neighborhood feel to it, a good beer selection, great specials ($2 beers on Tues!), Keno, and a funny bartender. I forget her name (think it started with an L) but, she was probably what kept us there that much longer with our back and forth banter. Nothing really special about the place but it was a good all around bar. Plus there's a pool table. Only downside was the "ship shot", it was disgusting. read more

This bar is open (not sure why it's reported as being closed)! We came here on Friday and Saturday night for the live country music. Tyler Branch (from Nashville) was awesome!! The bar never got completely packed, but was busier on Saturday night. There were a lot of bachelorette parties stopping by. Nice atmosphere and not too divey. We will definitely be back next time we visit Savannah! read more

Rolling her eyes as if to say, who knew? As she has been saying this for years, as she utters, "Good idea, Geddes.") at the Johnny Mercer Theatre that starts at 7:30 PM. But where to eat, how to get to the restaurant, and back to theatre on time for the concert while making it easy, no stress, fun, relaxing, taste enthralling, thrilling, care free, laid back, exciting, entertaining, safe, and logistically possible? Well, let's see Sweetpea. How about we arrive at 4:30 PM, and park at the Liberty Street Parking garage, right accross the street from the Johnny Mercer Theatre. Easy, check. Next we get an Uber to the Six Pence Pub. Why? No stress, check. We start our meal, with one of their adventuresome, tasty, cocktails which are all fantastic. "But how about getting to the Concert?" Right now, we're having some fun hanging out with our friends and catching up. Fun, check. Please remember Poindexter (I.e. my name for my conscience), we're not driving until after the concert is over which leaves us about five hours to recover from our cocktail before dinner, or two, you Devil you! Relaxing, check. We next get to experience eating some of the most delicious food in Savannah, GA. From the Crab Cake, to the Scotch Eggs, to the Smoked Salmon to their bombastic Broiled Portabella, their appetizers were both savory and palette pleasing. Then our companions had their outstanding, tastebud tintilating, French Onion and Chicken Noddle soups which are both made from scratch. Yea, yea, French Onion and Chicken Noodle soup, big deal. If you have not had it, I am here to tell you, there is nothing ordinary about either, as both were very delicious. We then dined on their Open Roast Beef, their Tender Pot Roast, their Atlantic Salmon all of which offered a very pleasing, tremendous taste in their own right. However, the Broiled flounder stuffed with shrimp and scallops was so exceptional, we ordered another two of these entrees so we could all share this dish as part of each of our meals. Taste enthralling, check. Please note, I did not write the words, "Pub Food" above as the Six Pence Pub's fare will thrill your tastebuds right down to the last morsel. Thrilling, check. Our Server was exceptional, timely, and personable. Care free, check. Our ambience was simply Pub delightful! Laid back, check. But then the bill came and lo and behold our friend had to stand and do a little Irish jig, or did he have to go to the bathroom?... Nah, it was the very reasonable pricing that pleased us all as we scampered to catch our Uber. No, wait a minute, we did not dine and dash. We would never dine and dash. Unfortunately, it was a bit too salty. It wasn't so bad that I wanted to send it back but it was definitely more salty for my taste. There were nice chunks of beef but the larger pieces were slightly dry and chewy. Our server Matt took good care of us (like our request to rearrange the tables and chairs to accommodate our group) so kudos to him.

But I had never made it to Pinkies until this most recent visit, which came with the department from my company. Our guide gave us some history of the bar, including how former President Jimmy Carter paid a visit or two during his presidential campaign in the 70s. When you walk inside, there is a definite local and historic vibe to the bar. Dark green booths with a U-shaped bar as you walk inside. Framed photos cover the walls of locals from years past, including President Carter's. Drink-wise, they have some excellent cocktail specials. I ordered a Negroni, which I could take out with me since Savannah has an open-container ordinance where you can walk around town with alcoholic beverages so long as they are in a plastic cup. Very cool spot. But do note, it's cash only so make sure you bring cash. They do have an ATM on-site but you would do better going to the bank to do a withdrawal if you don't want to deal with additional ATM fees.

Our server was so gentle and gave us many recommendations on things to try and even accommodated some of requests. We started with the Espresso Martini and non-alcoholic French 75 (my first time) and these were both great. For appetizers, we had the crab croquettes (cakes), escargots and caesar salad. We also had the Supreme Roasted Chicken with caramelized veggies and everything was cooked to perfection. We did not leave without dessert and tried their Créme Brûlée, and while it was runnier than usual, the flavor was there. We thought it needed more time.
