    SAKE!!!
    Lorie F.

I have completely under estimated Total Wine. I really don't know why I haven't come here sooner! I only needed two bottles of wine. I ended up spending at least an hour and finding a couple of gems. I stumbled across a wine tasting and learned all about Sake!! Ben and another employee were so helpful and knowledgeable. I ended up buying two unique bottles of sake I've never seen before. Never knew there is unfiltered sake. Totally worth the trip!!

On the hunt again for more Soju. So far no Jinro Soju or yogurt soju. However this Total Wine did have a decent selection. All these flavors I have tried except the coffee one. Peach and grape is still the best that's here. There is so pre-made canned cocktails here that I ended up picking up but only because it says it is yogurt flavor. There's peach yogurt one and that seemed like the best to try. Cider selection singles kinda small to choose from but they do have alot of Down East flavors. On the way out we talked to a lady at the wine sample area and picked up a few sparkly wines for a Christmas party. She was really nice and had us get the total wine app. It had some coupons for wines and saved us 10 bucks. Overall the total wine is a bit on the small side but they staff are nice and the store is very clean. It's also very close to a really good BBQ joint. Will be back to grab some craft beers and BBQ for another day.

Still my fave place place to come. Today was extra special, as we were able to do lots of tasting. The rep from Anheuser Busch was in the store doing tastings of their new seltzer. Everytime I go in, the staff is so friendly. We also were able to do a wine tasting too. I came in to spend a $50 gift card and left paying $75. That's a good day to me.

I've only been to this store twice, although I really like the chain since they often have just about any beer released. When finding out they had a limited release beer I immediately called and spoke to staff who confirmed they indeed did. Unfortunately they could not reserved it per company policy I was already for familiar with. I arrived at the store and parked off street. They also have a lot shared with a strip. No issues with trash on the street, lot, or in front of the store. The building is of historic nature, I assume 1940's. It's nice looking, but needs paint and repairs. Once inside it's a stark difference from the modern TW I shop at in Virginia Beach. Old floors, walls and shelving. Although different it fit the area and works. They most likely will have everything you need, but not in the quality. The item a 2016 limited release Firestone Walker was in the managers office. He and other staff I dealt with that afternoon were very friendly. Checkout was a breeze. They do have a rewards program discounting your purchase. You must sign up for it. I would have no issue in returning, but I must say I do prefer the modern stores.

Nice location in a nice shopping center. The employees are out and about, offering customers assistance as needed. Wide selection of wines, but I did ask and they do not sell certain brands at this location (Villa Jolanda is what I asked about) & it makes me wonder why. I love how the store has the aisles labeled so it's pretty easy for customers to guide themselves. They also have shelves for special orders and web orders near the front, quickly accessible for those who ordered. Not sure if at all locations, but they even have a chilling machine!! Also, they do ask for IDs of all in the party when purchasing wine.

Love total wine, only place I get my bottles from. Staff's very friendly and helpful. I absolutely take their recommendations. Try the vouvray it's delicious. The reward system is awesome it's a great way to earn discounts

Not at all your average wines/beer store. Why? - Great beer/cider selection. - Create-your-own 6-pack option. - FREE wine tastings regularly. - Excellent, friendly staff who are not only willing but EAGER to make recommendations and discuss wines and beer. They also have a very neat cold water bath to chill the brews stored at room temp. I have yet to be led astray here and always seem to manage to leave with something new that I end up enjoying immensely.

I love Total Wine. I'm a big Port wine lover and finding this gem has lead me to some very amazing varieties. It's located in the Ghent area of Norfolk which is a very nice an upcoming area of the city. I loved all the different options this store gives and I've heard they even do samples from time to time. I definitely recommend Total Wine & Company.

Money, money, money, money money money......money. Some people got to have it.... The staff here is solid. They are limited to what the corporation provides but do give solid advice and are super friendly....even though they don't seem to be drinking on the job. haha. Billy is your man here. Great advice and super friendly. He never let's me down but in case he is out there are plenty of young lads and lasses in the bullpen to help out..

Your drink of choice wasn't in the coolers? Use this bad boy

This place is huge. They have a huge selection, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and wine tastings every week. I really enjoy the staff picks placed around the store. When in doubt, go with one of those or talk to someone on staff - they have never steered me wrong. They have a wall of single beers that you can build your own six pack with, which is always exciting. Just be careful you watch the prices because some of the more expensive beers can add up quickly and you'll find yourself paying $12 for the six pack! Also, see the posted pic. If your beer or wine of choice wasn't in the cooler and you want to drink it as soon as you get home, put it in the "free chilling service" and in a few minutes you'll have a frosty brew! I'm not sure if this is something everyone already knows about, but I recently discovered it and I'm thrilled.

The store is located in the Neon District aka as the Arts District of Norfolk. The building was nothing special to look at and debris was in the parking lot. A bonus is that they do have curbside pickup by the door and a spacious lot. The staff was friendly and opened the door promptly at noon, by this time there was a line of around 14. Most were there for truck day and bourbon. This is not unusual whatsoever in Virginia which is a controlled liquor state. Once inside the store was not anymore impressive inside. Old dated and small. But the shelves were packed and the bourbon area in the back large. The employees had the allocated booze by the register. I asked for the Michters Rye Barrel Strength. They only had three at $90 a pop and limit one. Checkout by card easy. Staff never smiled, but hey they were nuts by now with a line out the door. Only 20 are permitted inside and they do count. I would skip the ABC location if you had a choice. If there is something special by all means shop away. Otherwise there are much better options.

I selected The Veil as the spot for my UYE and enjoyed an evening of talking shop with the great J David H. while we drank those great beers. The Veil is a comfortable spot in the Railroad District and we were sitting in their dining area on the ground floor. Big tables and plenty of room this afternoon. Which we needed because that burger and fries needed elbow room to enjoy. I'd only suggest a pump-based ketchup dispenser as the packet thing is tedious. They opened here in 2019 - well after I was done with my projects in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake - transforming this three-story space into a family-friendly taproom and restaurant. The full kitchen specializes in indulgent smashburgers and Neapolitan-style pizzas that pair perfectly with the brewery's bold stouts, hazy IPAs, and seasonal sours. I only experienced the downstairs on my visit with Yelp friend Bruce K. The Happy Hour pricing was a draw as well as stellar reviews. Parking in their own smallish lot on a weekday was no problem. I started off with a Blend which is a Pale and Pilsner if I recall and it was tasty. The counter service was excellent. You can cash tip or card. Customers can also leave a tab open. The seating is wood bench type that comfortably seats six. The aesthetics of the first floor is high ceilings, concrete floors and walls. The kitchen has a garage door over the front. The space was previously a restaurant, but before may have been a factory, or warehouse. Only negative was music was a bit elevated for talking. Prior to Happy Hour concluding I ordered a $6 on special smash burger that comes with fries. No other dudes are available. The regular price is $12, so this is a deal friends. In about 20 minutes burgers and fries were delivered to the table. The look was downright amazing, so pretty much knew this bad boy was gonna be a hitter. The burger comes with double patty, cheese, Dukes mayo, lettuce a pickle. If something else I'm sorry I forgot. The first bite was phenomenal! Fresh bread, perfectly cooked 80/20 beef which was not greasy. The construction was a masterpiece. The thin fries were cooked crispy and seasoned well, yum! Honestly I could eat that burger everyday. The whole experience was exceptional and worthy of a full 5. Totally recommend checking The Veil Brewing out.

There is also a number of different beers, seltzers, IPAs, and wines to try. Tonight I had the White Cranberry Sangria from Water's Edge Winery (also in Norfolk) and the Downeast Black Cherry! While both were really good, I prefer the Downeast because it was sparkling and just more refreshing. We also had the bacon Gouda pizza and the Hive pizza with hot honey. Both were great! They have plenty of beer options, but also serve wine, seltzers, cider, and non alcoholic drinks, which I really appreciate since I'm not much of a beer person. I ordered the frozen rosé slushie in wild raspberry and it was strong. I also had the black cherry fruited cider, which was delicious. For food, I ordered The Hive pizza and it was excellent. Random detail, but the toilet paper was noticeably better quality than what you usually find in bars. It was not plush, but strong and not paper thin. Overall, I loved the atmosphere, the food, the drinks, and the service. I will definitely be back.
