As an Authorized Lampe Burger dealer, they have a great selection of fragrances available. I know that it seems odd that a Cigar Store has home fragrance dispensers but here we are... Emerson's also has a fine selection of premium Cigars available, and even though I don't smoke them myself, I can still appreciate them. read more

We were lucky to be so close to this cigar lounge when we were staying at a local hotel. We were greeted by the guy working when we first walked in. There is a pretty large selection of cigars in the humidor and the prices were not bad, very competitive to other places. While in there, we were asked again if we needed any help. Once we paid for the cigars, the guy cut them since we were going to smoke them there. There were several leather type chairs around two flat screen tvs that the NFL games on, which is what we were after. The chairs have seen better days, but still comfortable to sit in. We could not believe that this place was not more crowded on a Saturday afternoon. They also have a few tables and chairs out front if you want to sit outside. it was just to hot that day for that! I wish i lived closer to this place. If we are in the area again, I will definitely go back! read more

My dad and husband wanted to come here to buy their first pipes and I am so glad that we chose Emerson's! The gentlemen who helped us out were both wonderful. I can't recall the name of the first man but Bill ended up helping for the latter part of the visit. We got there pretty late in the evening so they ended up having to try their pipes outside as the shop was closing up, but Bill came out and gave them one of his favorite blends on the house. Absolutely my favorite cigar shop in the area. This is the flagship location of the Emerson's stores and it's located in the Crossways Shopping Center directly between Ruby Tuesday & Office Depot. The store boasts the largest Walk-In Humidor I've seen in the area. The selection is outstanding from dollar cigars all the up to the good stuff. Take your pick there's plenty. The rest of this large store is full of any kind of smokers accessory you can think of and probably some you haven't thought of as well. There is a good sized lounge in the back with sofa's and refreshments. Also there are a couple of tables out front if you want to smoke out doors and do some people watching. First time in Emerson's Chesapeake store was great. Store is clean, everything is well placed. I knew nothing about cigars when I walked into the store, but I wanted to surprise my boyfriend with a few nice cigars. The older gentleman was very helpful he taught me how to light a cigars, and about the flavors, sizes, and more. He also gave me great suggestions for cigars that he thought my boyfriend would like. This is a all over outstanding store to shop in, they have a large selection, and they are very knowledgeable about the products, they make you feel welcome when you come in. This will be my only store to shop for cigars. I have been in a few cigar shops around the area , but Emerson's Greenbriar is the best for Customer service and cigars. The Emerson's Greenbrier location is typically the store that host major events. Although I haven't yet visited the Hampton store, this one is definitely bigger than the one on the Blvd, on Laskin, and in downtown Norfolk. It also boast the largest selection of cigars (again, not including the Hampton store because I haven't been there so idk). Has a pretty comfortable seating area as well. Located in a fairly large shopping center, you can easily go to Starbucks and bring in a cup of coffee to have w/your cigar, or grab something to eat a nearby restaurant. I've had Hibatchi and parked my ass right on one of the sofa's afterwards for a smoke, it was pretty damn awesome. The mall is also across the street. Great parking, easy to get to, my homie Tyler and Alex work there too, so yeah, thats another reason its cool. Big fan of the store. Check it out. read more

My husband & I normally have a great experience in this store. After today, I will no longer be returning and will no longer recommend. It's sad that one bad apple can change that. The cashier was very rude to my husband and was even preparing to go back and forth with him. Me, my mother and my husband browsed around and then my mother and I left. As my husband went to check out, he asked to see ID, fine. Then asked to see my ID, which luckily my husband had. He then proceeded to ask for my mothers ID, fine. He went outside to get her to have her show her ID. My issue is the piss poor customer service. My husband expressed that he found that odd that he'd have to go outside to get our IDs (even though we were not shopping and had left) ESPECIALLY being that he'd never been ID'd there before (neither have I, in the past). The cashier then proceeded to tell him "yeah, I don't have to service you." He's right.. he won't be servicing us. Ever again. For one, watch how you speak to patrons. Secondly, enforce the law at all times. Be fair. Don't not ID me one time and then wanna argue with me the next. It's called consistency & fairness across the board. read more

As a Black & Mild smoker from the age of 16, I thought I knew it all about tobacco. It wasn't until I started to come to Emerson's that I found out I was a complete novice. My first experience in an Emerson's was the Hampton location. I really just breezed through and asked a few questions while buying a pack of Djarum Black (my favorite) filtered cigars. The associates there were the first to tell me that I needed to step my game up and make the switch to actual cigars. I remember laughing it off and saying that I didn't have time to really smoke cigars and left. It wasn't until I actually took time on one of my lunch breaks in the Greenbrier area that I ventured into the Chesapeake Emerson's. Immediately I was greeted by Brian, one of the associates, and when he asked if I needed any help I said I was just really killing time and looking around. He then let me know if I needed any assistance to let he or another one of the associates know. Great touch I immediately thought because I've worked numerous customer service/retail based jobs before my current one and I know how cutthroat sales can be, especially if you're working on a commission basis. I walked around a little more and acclimated myself with the location. Very clean and organized shelves with a section for everyone: hookah enthusiasts, tobacco aficionados, and the like. Before I could even make it to the humidor, another associate named Jake asked the same question that Brian had. By now, I really did need help so I asked Jake to show me some of the selection of cigars in the humidor. The follow-through with open-ended questions to get me talking almost blew my mind. I've been to a number of tobacco stores and it's always a rush you out environment that I was taken back that an associate would take time out to really try and get a feel of what I liked to smoke. The type of questions asked: What flavor profile(s) do you prefer? What do you usually smoke? Do you like to pair your cigars with alcohol? Let's just say, for an amateur I faked it until I thought I made it. I finally had to admit to Jake that I really had no clue which cigars I was into because I was still on a pipe and filtered cigar level. He assured me it was okay and that like anything else that you invest in, you only learn by trial and error. Thanking him for his time, I asked where could I find the Djarum selection. He walked me over to the display case where then I saw there was a female associate, which I thought was different. I know a lot of women do not like smoke or are usually uncomfortable around it. Not in this case of Lee Ann. I saw she was helping customers behind the register giving recommendations for their purchases; lighters, cutters, etc. She seemed very pleasant and knowledgeable. It was around one p.m. with a crowd starting to come but everyone that walked in seemed to know each other and that they were regulars because I could overhear Brian asking customers how they enjoyed their last selection. I thought this will probably be my new hangout because it's a very cool and laidback environment with comfortable looking chairs and high-top tables where a few people were on laptops and a few in discussion. They even had a rewards program that Jake fully explained to me and of course I signed up. Where else can I get credit for purchasing tobacco products? I definitely wasn't getting them at the other places I'd been spending insane amounts of money frequenting in the area. After that first experience, I've been in no less than 3x a week and have become one of those regulars that I saw that day. Known by name by the staff and even the other regulars. I've even brought a number of friends and family members in with me on weekends to get them to experience the atmosphere here. And each time, there's never been a deviation from the stellar and exemplary service I received my first time walking into this location. All in all, I couldn't imagine myself going anywhere else to purchase my Djarums and now my actual "big boy" cigars that I'm slowly but definitely switching over to. There must have been a change in management because this time I was helped out by Jeremy Bagwell. He spent probably 15 min talking me through different cigars and manufactures etc. He even took the time repair a lighter I was having problems with. Job well done.
