Went here on the 27th of November for an eye exam, as soon as I waked in I was welcomed and signed in. I waited no more then 30 min while they processed my insurance information. I was seen by one of their eye doctors who examined my eyes he was very knowledgeable and very patient. I then saw one of their techs I forgot her name but she explained what frames my Insurance covers and other name brands that they offer like Nike , Ray vans, Oakley and much more I chose some Oakley Crosslink which run about $272.00 which my Insurance did not cover but I wanted some very nice frames I didn't want to pay the 272 at once so they let me pay for half so they could get started on my prescription and pay the rest when I returned to pick up my glasses which only took a week for them to have them ready . Over all I give this place five starts and I will be returning my entire process was smooth they answered all my questions and concerns and great customer service ! read more

Even when I moved out of state and had bad experiences from other eye doctors I would fly back to Southern California to see Dr. Harvey! And when I moved back to California I continued seeing them both in the Long Beach location for over 20 years now. After Dr. Harvey retired his son Dr. Alan Has been my eye doctor. Both doctors are so caring and without a doubt the best eye doctors I've ever been to in over 65 years. I waited three weeks for this appointment only to be given terrible service. The office was not busy or overflowing but after being examined by a tech then asked to wait outside for the doctor after 45 minutes i simply left and I never saw the doctor. I took two hours out of my work day to get this done and only turned out to be a waste of time. I never saw the doctor and I don't have my prescription. Am I wrong to think that doctor would have time for me if I made an appointment? As a new patient this is very bad and a shame as it they were recommended by a friend. The doctor did call me to apologize and even offered a discount but after seeing the operation It felt much like a used car dealership and not like I was seeing my personal Ophthalmologist and chose to go elsewhere. read more

I am 31 years old, and I have not been able to see for as long as I remember. My glasses would always give me an extreme headache, and it felt as if I could see a little bit too good. I would always explain to the optometrist that my eyes hurt, and they would even water non stop when I wore my glasses. The Doctor would just tell me to get used to them. I would get bad headaches and I could only wear my glasses for 30 minutes at a time. Eventually, I would stop wearing the glasses. However, I recently went to Dr. Goldstone office to have my eyes examined. He did a beyond awesome job at detecting the root of this problem. I finally have a pair of glasses that I can enjoy life with. My eyes never watered. I never got a headache. I never take my glasses off. I want to go back and give the Doctor a huge hug I'm so happy. It has always been so frustrating not being able to see details. But now I can see in peace. Thank you soo much Dr. Goldstone. They have great deals on their glasses too. THIS REVIEW IS OF THE OFFICE STAFF AND OPTICAL DEPARTMENT ONLY. Really did not enjoy my experience with this office. Absolutely felt like a number. When you go in you must sign in even just to go to the optical department, and the office staff let's you know an optical technician will be with you when it is your turn in a way that let's you know you probably shouldn't even go into the frame area until you're called. I'm sure they wouldn't tackle you if you did, but the impression is that it would be 'frowned upon' behavior...which leads to the worse idea that they think their clients are children or 'need to be managed.' The sole reason I continued with the experience after this impression is that this office is one of very few in LB that carry MiraFlex frames (our regular doctor's office-Family Eye Medical Group-is another, but their optical dept. doesn't accept my vision plan since it changed earlier this year). When it was finally my turn I inquired about their MiraFlex selection, and was shown what appeared to be a shoe box with the sample frames haphazardly stuffed into it. Thankfully I had already selected the frames I wanted at Dr. Rosales' office (where their samples are stored in a beautiful presentation briefcase) so we only needed a sample pair to do the fitting on my daughter. I will say the technician we worked with, Flora, was very nice and gentle in how she worked with my daughter - Flora earned the second star of this review...both stars actually because if it hadn't been for her demeanor the rest of the experience would've put my review in negative star territory. We left with a quoted delivery time of 3 weeks which Flora said she would do her best to reduce since school was to start in 2 1/2 weeks - can't have a blind girl in the classroom (which also led me to Lenscrafters for a back up pair that would be made faster). Flora left me a message 2 days after school started that the glasses were ready 5 days sooner than planned. I thought this was great, was appreciative that she kept her word, went to pick up the glasses, and again all my hopes for a good experience were dashed. Flora wasn't available so after being corralled in the waiting room for 1/2 hour I had to work with a different technician - a linebacker sized guy whose name I don't recall. He had me put the glasses on my daughter then asked her if she was happy, but didn't attempt to make any adjustments to how the frame was fitting her so I made them (MiraFlex are rubber frames you can easily adjust the arms on for a better fit). I inquired if he had checked the prescription when the glasses came in (something Dr. Rosales' office always does), and he said he wasn't concerned because they were checked at the lab (and labs are perfect, right?!). After less than 10 minutes with Mr. Linebacker it was off to Dr. Rosales' office to have the glasses checked for the prescription - if the Dr.'s office isn't going to do it, Momma will find a way...and I was also following Dr. Rosales' advice to always have glasses verified so that a child doesn't unnecessarily wander around with an incorrect prescription due to lab error for 6 months before any follow up. I'm SO glad I did. I actually had the MiraFlex glasses and the Lenscrafter back-up glasses checked at the same time. The results: MiraFlex glasses prescription was spot on; Lenscrafter glasses had a slightly higher prescription than ordered (but technician said close enough so no need to fix) still there was a PROBLEM!!!!! The Pupillary Distance measurement (distance in millimeters between the centers of the pupils in each eye) on the MiraFlex glasses was a 51 vs. Lenscrafters measurement of 48.5. Dr. Rosales' technician took his own measurement which came out to 48. He told me to immediately return the glasses back to Dr. Goldstone's office- when I asked him if it was really such a bad thing he let me know their office would never have let me have the glasses, and would've sent them back to the lab because having such a discrepancy can cause the eyes to either turn in or out - like a walleyed fish! Since my daughter has Strabismus this is an EXTREME concern! I immediately returned with my two children in tow (oh the fun I had dragging my children back/forth between boring Drs. offices!), and told the front desk staff my issue. Before I could be corralled again in a Godsend moment Flora appeared, and agreed to have the glasses immediately redone with a 48 measurement, but it would take another week! 10 days later I was back in the corral for 45 minutes before being seen. This time was helped by the optical manager - word of my dissatisfaction must have traveled - and this time my daughter had a proper fitting, and I was assured that the glasses were checked when they were received from the lab. Ever going back? Not by choice. A drive to Riverside to the next closest MiraFlex carrying office doesn't seem so bad now! read more

I'm surprised at all the reviews saying the place is super crowded and that they have a long wait. I made an appointment for a saturday afternoon (which in all honesty, when they called me to confirm told me a different time than the appointment I actually made, but whatever). and I was one of 3 people in the waiting room. I filled out the papers, had my exam with one of the female Dr's (Warren?) she was super sweet, after the exam she took me over to where they pick out your frames and get your glasses made. All in all I was out in an hour and 15 minutes. The only real problem, was that the girl getting my glasses together didn't know about my insurance, and what they would cover so I had to wait for one of the managers to come back from lunch. read more

I received the best eye exam I've ever had from Dr. Goldstone's Vision Center. I was seen by Dr. Alan Goldstone (son of the owner), who was extremely thorough. It had been about three years since I had been to an optometrist, so I came here to get new prescriptions for both my glasses and my contacts. Dr. Goldstone really took the time to really zero in on my best prescription. He also explained several new options to me regarding my contacts. I was previously wearing two-week contacts, but Dr. Goldstone gave some good reasons why I should try monthly and daily contacts, and gave me samples of each to decide for myself which works best. Wow... what service!!! Okay this is my first review. The service provided to me by Dr. Alan Goldstone was so awesome, I had to sign up and write a review. While doing some work in my garage with safety glasses on, I managed to get some metal in my eye. I called their office after being referred by a friend, they told me to come in. Upon arrival they got me right in. Dr. Alan Goldstone was younger than I was expecting, but was he a professional!!! He numbed my eye and pulled out the metal fragment and I never felt a thing. I have since been back a second time, for a follow up, and had a full eye exam. I discovered I needed glasses. The nurses there helped me find the right frames. I must have tried on 20 different frames. It totally helps when your a guy to have a girls opinion like that. His prices were fair, and the service was most excellent. Though the staff could have been more attentive, this office is convenient. They accepted me as a walk-in at 2:45p on Wednesday! I had to wait to see the optometrist but not long, especially for not having an appointment. It's a busy office with many clients. They charged me $140 for a new patient eye exam; that's before insurance is applied. The technician I had was passive but courteous. I appreciated that he told me how much extra eye tests would cost before conducting them so I could choose whether or not to have them. I would go back. read more

Goldstone advertises Zeiss glasses. I went in and asked if they do indeed sell Zeiss and more specifically glass lens glasses. The sales person asked the three people around them and no one knew. They call this enormous man from the back of the store, he waddled in, plopped down in a chair. He seemed to be out of breath from the twenty steps he took. I asked him if they have or can order glass Zeiss lenses. He said you would not want to do that. Glass breaks in the mail. Wow, what carrier are they using ? Pony Express. They have invented something called packing materials for boxes, not that glass is any less fragile than poly carbonate. I went down the street to a real optician and order two pairs of glass lens glasses. Nothing is as good as glass. Not to mention they never scratch. read more

Been a patient for the last 5 years and I finally felt the need to write a review. The most I've waited after my scheduled appointment was 30 minutes. Once in the room the doctor does try to upsell you a exam (20$) your insurance does not cover. I've said No but the doc kept insisting and I got suckered in. This exam was going to see what a regular exam misses such as cancer and the back of my eye. All 3 times I've decided to have this exam the results are perfectly fine. My kids are patients here as well, I have a son who has add and his doctor was patient with him. The doctors have been friendly and I don't feel they are rushing through the exam. My only complain is the opticians, feels like they work on just commission trying to upsell everything. I have asked for my prescription but they kept insisting they can get me a better deal than what I get, what is my deal they can match it. After the 3rd try I firmly said no and was handed my prescription. When my kids needed glasses, I asked to see the glasses their insurance covers of course they only had two of the cheapest pairs. My son once had the experience of being helped by the guy with the glasses and tattoos but all I sensed was frustration with my son's add personality and his big eyes/ long lashes not fitting any glasses. My son felt uncomfortable and I decided that I will ask for a female optician next appointment. Sure enough when I asked for a female optician they where all surprised and gossiping since the same guy was going to help my son but had to pass it down to a female optician. Overall on the glasses fitting part I feel uncomfortable. Everyone has their own experience and this has been ours. read more

I looked and called many places in my provider network (davis vision). Every place I called or went the coverage was somehow different, and I was very confused as to what was covered. They helped me with ALL my concerns. And had a very friendly and patient lady that helped my 6 year old daughter find the right glasses. I have unfortunately visited this facility too many times...my quest for new glasses and the correct prescription started back in April 2017. I had my rx with me which the clinic honored. I did ask at the first initial visit should I have a new exam since the rx. was 1 year old...no was the answer. I picked out frames. I told the staff I needed progressive lenses and transitional lenses...no problem...glasses where ordered and I was measured and off I went. it took apprx. 4 weeks to get my glasses in. when I went for follow up and tried on the glasses and sunglasses they nauseated me. I could not see clearly at distance or close up. I was told it is the rx then. so had an appt. with the dr to re-do the rx.. his exam was not a significant change to the rx I brought in...so the glasses went back to get 'tweaked'. almost 4 weeks later I called and they said oh we called u your glasses are in...no phone call or message...sorry. went in and they where worse then the first time. I was told well these frames cannot handle transition so lets take that out..uh could that have been told to me before I waited another 4 weeks.. so back the frames went. another 3 weeks I called and they said oh yes the glasses are here but we haven't had time to call..what??????????? so now I thot ok they are gonna be spot on.. worse then the first time...could not read a damn things, and the distance was now a blurred mess...I know the technician was getting frustrated with me cuz she changed with another mid course of helping me...I asked to speak with the doctor and they came back with there is nothing we can do due to the curvature of the lens that you have to wear...uh I didn't ask for this special expensive curvature...I just want to see out of my frickin glasses...then they had the nerve to tell me I owed them another 120.00 dollars to re-adjust all that had to be done...oh heck no...the frames and 3 tries is enough. I paid 866.00 for the regular glasses with all the special things they suggested would help me and 716.00 for the sunglasses...I am diabetic and sensitive to the sun so I got regular (with my million dollars prescription) and having to change from inside to outside is a well you know what but would of done this if I could of seen out of the new rx. and frames...and major headaches and eyes burning like crazy after wearing these new puppies for a full day, cuz they said oh it takes adjustment time..well I suffered with burning eyes and not being able to see out of the glasses for 2 weeks...I am not happy...I asked for a refund, which is there policy...but I have waited a week now for someone to respond to me and nada...so not only will I write this review I will report to better business...just an fyi everyone... read more
