Tends to be busy, but you can usually find a spot somewhere. - Up to date optometry that has an online portal and will do intake questionnaires before you come in. - Usually it is sent by text for me, but I think you can also have it emailed - 3 machines to assess your eyes with one that takes images with bright lights. You can have those particular images emailed to you. - takes lunch from 1-2pm - optometrists who really know their stuff. So happy I found this optometry! read more

I bought $200 frames and in less than 2 months they spontaneously fell apart at the hinge. I did not break them and actually have never broken a pair of glasses. I took them in and they said that they are not covered under warranty and I would have to buy new frames and pay for the lenses to be changed. They basically called me a liar and said that I broke them. Beware of this business as they do not take care of their customers nor back their products. Also the doctor talks wayyyy too much about herself during the eye exam, making what should take 15 minutes take 45 minutes. read more

I've been coming here for years, but one of the selfish reasons that I haven't posted a review until now is that I secretly hope with less reviews, this gem won't be too popular to the whole world...and I can enjoy this place all to myself, and a few of the locals! Oh well, a girl can dream. I have had Dr. Tan (both husband and wife) helped me throughout my years of coming here! They are so wonderful and super nice and really experts on the eyes. They are super thorough and do not rush through the exam or any part of the process. If you have a tiny concern, they will hear you out and find solutions! I even brought my mom here for Dr. Tan (wife) to check on her because I was not happy with my mom's optometrist. I also had one of the other Optometrist to help me while Dr. Tan was on maternity leave. Dr. Tran, and she was also very thorough and sharp and fast, just like Dr. Tan (wife). Then, the staff, oh amazing A-Team!! Every single one of them are so nice, very knowledgeable, and very patient!! Mayra, Sopheap, and Raven are all my favorites! They are all equally so nice and friendly and helpful. Everyone is very knowledgeable and I really appreciate the careful breakdown they all do for you to make sure you are getting the most out of your insurance coverage or the most for the money. Dr. Tan (wife) is also really neat and organized, and I really appreciate how neat they have everything set up. Definitely one of the safest place to be in during Covid. Which by the way, none of them take it lightly. They literally lock you in or out unless it's your appointment. They are also offering curbside pick up and will come out to give you the things you order when they arrive. Just call them before you head over. The ladies are nice the Dr is nice. But they aren't very helpful if you have medi cal. Just because our family has medi cal doesn't mean we are less than everyone else. It doesn't mean that I don't want to spend money on the extra stuff. I even bought in my own frames and they wouldn't just put the lenses in them. I had to pick frames from them. I have never had so many rules with medi cal before and any other places I've been to. But otherwise it is nice. read more

Whoa this place is really great. I've been going here for about 7 years now, and it's always been a pretty pleasant experience with all the ODs. Everyone is really friendly here. The selection of frames do leave a little bit to be desired. I usually shop for Ray Bans, which they carry, but they have a limited selection in the office. If you find one that you like online, they can still order it for you if they carry the brand in house. From the top of my head, some of the brands they carry are Ray Bans, Tom Ford, Nike, Guess, and I think like Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Coach. I do wish they had a larger selection of Asian-fit glasses though. One really nice thing that I discovered is that if you want to reuse an old frame for your new prescription, they are more than willing to accommodate! read more

Every step of the visit is explained to me and they answer all of my questions--even the random ones. I never feel rushed but also find I don't have to wait long to be seen. I waited over two weeks for my appointment at this place only. I arrived 10 mins. early to find their door locked. Evidently they only let in people that have appointments. Weird but ok. When they answered the door they looked surprised. They claimed I'd cancelled the appointment because they didn't take my insurance. I had filled out their online forms which had asked for my medical insurance which was Medicare (I'm recently retired). I knew that Medicare wasn't going to cover my contact lenses and I was fine with that. A week before the appointment, their office called me and told me that it wouldn't be covered by Medicare. I told them I would just pay for it. After all, I was only going to get a single replacement contact lens. I hung up thinking I still had an appointment. While they had sent me several emails to remind me about my appointment, it was too much trouble for them to send me one to tell me they were cancelling my appointment. The idiot who had called me didn't at all notify me that they were going to cancel my appointment. After explaining all this to the lady who answered the door, all I got was "We'll try to fit you in." I told them to forget it. They are incompetent and wasted my time. read more

Difficult review to write as admittedly I've been using them for several years, and finally had enough. Scheduling: While it is great they have a fruitful business I'm tired of waiting a month to secure an appointment. Then to top it off to get a call the week before to inform me of their error in over booking and cancel my appointment. Sales: Again, I understand it's a business- but the constant upsell becomes exhausting. No, I don't want additional scans. No, I don't want to try a different multiple brands of contact lenses. No, I don't want sunglasses. Cleanliness: The office, exam room, scan room, and sales floor are always pristine. Waiting Times: As with most doctors they seem to tightly book the appointments, but the waits have never been too bad for exams or picking up merchandise. Staff: Friendly but incompetent. While the doctors seem to bring their A game (hence the 2nd star), however, the front office staff are a hot mess and ultimately why I've decided to take my business elsewhere. Again, I've never complained over the years waiting the extra week or two to see a great optometrist, but the perpetual inaccuracies of scheduling and product orders was the final straw. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Tan for a few years now and I am very much appreciative of her and her staff. All the women in the front office are attentive, helpful, and kind. The office is always clean and welcoming. All their equipment is up to date, even their sign in process is technologically advanced and user friendly. You can tell a lot of thought and care goes into this space. Oh and they also carry a large selection of frames. Now for the main reason I chose to write this review, Dr. Tan. I have keratoconis and left my last optometrist because I wasn't able to get the care I needed. I would get contacts and they would help me see, but not anywhere as good as friends of mine who didn't wear any corrective lenses. When I came to Dr. Tan, she introduced me to the hybrid lenses. These lenses were not easy to adjust to, because they are a hard lens with a soft skirt and I had worn soft lenses for over 15 years. However, my vision improved tremendously. I literally felt like I had a new pair of eyes. I've seen ophthalmologist that I felt weren't as attentive & informative as Dr. Tan is as my Optometrist . I have come to her with a few different issues that are common to those of us with keratoconis, and she's always proven to be so well educated. I appreciate that and highly recommend Beach Care Optometry to anyone. read more

I've had Dr. Chorn (Dr. Tan) as my optometrist for at least four years at the San Gabriel location at ICU optometry. Then Dr. Chorn stopped coming to the San Gabriel location and stayed at the Long Beach location. So, I had Dr. Tan, her husband, as my optometrist for several years. On the weekends, I'm usually in Long Beach and I didn't want to keep driving to San Gabriel when I was already in Long Beach. Luckily, I was able to come to the Long Beach location and see Dr. Chorn again as my optometrist so it could save me a trip and not have to drive all the way to San Gabriel when I was already in LB. Dr. Chorn is always super friendly and professional. She gives clear explanations when it comes to your eye health and the whole evaluation process. The staff were really patient with helping me with going over my contact lenses pricing and her recommendations/suggestions with what I needed for my eyeglasses. My eyeglasses and my contact lenses were ready in about three weeks due to Christmas and New Years, but they typically take no more than two weeks. At This location, they follow COVID-19 guidelines closely. It's very clean and they don't allow more than one client in a room. They make the appointments in a way where there is time in between clients and to sanitize. There are hand sanitizers, sink for you to wash your hands, and they sanitize after every client. Staff are really friendly here. They keep their doors locked during business hours. When you arrive for your appointment, you have to call them and let them know. Don't forget to check in on yelp for your free eye glasses cleaner and cloth. On my first visit to Beach Eyecare Optometry I was greeted at the reception by two polite staff members. I did not have to fill out any form because I had already done it days before through the internet. Beach Eyecare has a lobby with a wide variety of eyeglass frames to choose from. My eyes were examined with very sophisticated equipment and Dr. Jennifer Ngo treated me with great care and knowledge in explaining the health status of my eyes. When choosing the frame for my glasses, one of the secretaries helped me with it and explained the process with my insurance in detail. I was very excited to go and have my eye exam and waited about 5 weeks for the appointment. They sent a form by text to fill and was okay with the paperless info and background need for the appointment. However, upon getting the form to fill; they wanted too much personal information, ie. social security number and driver license information. This was way too much to be electronically sent, especially since I was going to pay cash for the exam. Moreover, I've had my identity stolen before and it was from what should have been a very secure agency the Office of Personal Management. I work in government service. Very disappointing. read more

First of all.. this was one of the best eye exam I had in years. Dr. Thay was very thorough with the exam. My last opthalmologist said to me that i have some cataracts and if I don't take good care of my eyes eventually I would need surgery. That totally freaked me out. I skipped the next 2 yearly follow up eye exams all because of that. Anyway after I heard numerous good things about this practice I thought I would give it a try. When I first walked in I was greeted by the friendly staffs at the front desk. After my eye exam I picked out a nice pair of sunglass at the price that was quite reasonable. Now I think I look like Kylie Jenner haha.. ( picture below ) As I sat in the waiting area, I observed how Dr. Thay interact with her patients and I was amazed how friendly she is towards her patients and staffs. Their staffs there looked happy and positive. The exam was easy breezy. I definitely will be coming back next year for my next eye exam. My overall experience was 10/10. One word to describe the staff at Beach Eyecare: Accommodating! Wait, a few more words: fantastic, nice, knowledgeable, humorous, patient... Anyway, I came in with my BF to get an eye exam so I could get new glasses + sunglasses, and my BF needed new contacts. We made an appt over the phone and when we got there, we were admitted 3 minutes before our appt time which I thought was really nice. They offer you free coffee and small bottles of water. The front desk staff is fantastic! All the ladies there are so nice and funny, and are really helpful. Dr. Tan is really chatty and loves to tell stories, but it makes you feel comfortable and at ease, like she's been your friend forever and ever. She tells you the reason behind everything she is doing. She makes sure that you'll get the best pricing and service. I've been back about 3 times since then (picking up glasses/sunglasses/adjustments/contact exams) and have had a pleasant experience each time. I love this place. I actually found this place because I was going to the gym across the street and remembered there was some optometrists around the area. So I drove by and got their number and it was great. The staff is very friendly and helpful and Dr. Tran is amazing with everyone! My girls have given her the title of the cool doctor. She remembers them each time they have an appointment and chit chats with them. They have good deals on glasses too. This was my first time, getting my sons eyes checked he is autistic and non verbal everyone including the doctor was so helpful and patient with my son. They made him so comfortable I like the flexibility because we had to get his eyes dilated since he didn't want to sit still for the appointment. Super disappointed. My experience with the Doctor was pleasant enough. She was attentive and got my prescription dead on. The horror started in the front picking out glasses. The staff has zero knowledge of frames and lenses. Could not answer any questions. They tried to get me to pay over $900 for a pair of sunglasses. I explained and showed them I could get these same glasses and lenses anywhere else including on line for over $400 cheaper. They checked with the Doctor and came back with "the price is the price, go buy them somewhere else then". Well, I did. Same exact pair, lenses and all for over $400 less elsewhere. My questions regarding the different types of lenses and colors were also answered at "elsewhere" Buyer beware. This place is out to gouge you for all your hard earned dough. They are probably trying to pay for that new $150,000 machine they bought. Shame on you Doc. Your sweet smile and demeanor is just a facade. read more
