This was my first time at Dr. Tomlin/Dr. Gonzales' office and the experience couldn't have been better. Dr. Gonzales was extremely kind and professional. She gave me a thorough eye exam and explained everything that I needed in detail. She went over my prescription and how certain lenses could be applied to my daily routine. She recommended lenses that will make wearing glasses more convenient. The office has a great selection of glasses and Richard was extremely helpful and helping me choose a new pair and answered any questions I had. he also explained how to get the boat out of my benefits. Richard also repaired my old pair of glasses without me asking. All the office staff was extremely kind and I walked out of there feeling more knowledgeable and taking care of then I had my previous Optometrist. The receptionist dude is RUDE!!! I left this optometry office behind 2021. I got glasses and prescription shades here. After both fitting uncomfortably and crooked on my face I came back in for frame work. Each time I came in, the receptionist was very argumentative for no reason, unenthusiastic and very cold. He gave me anxiety and dread about coming to the office for repairs. Truly hope he has been replaced by now because the actual optometrist was very sweet. read more

I worked with Dr. Crow in the 70's. Dr. Tomlin was the third owner. She was wonderful. When I scheduled an appointment with the new Dr. I was lied by the staff and dr. That Dr. Tomlin was still the owner. The women that work there are rude and unprofessional. Richard is the best yet I was told today by the Dr. The reason he only works Friday is because he is a problem can you believe a Dr. Speaking that way. I was told to take my business else where because her staff did not feel comfortable with me. So much more I can say but not worth the time. This place seems professional but is not well ran. They need a receptionist. They hardly answer the phone. When I filled out my paperwork I was told they would call me back. After calling back to back, they finally answered and the man argued with me and said they have a waiting list. If I was told that initially I would not have wasted my time. Also, they said they do not have a lot of selection for kids glasses through medi-cal. Other places I have called that might not be aesthetically nice have said they do have q number of options so not sure why they do not. I guess not all that glitters is gold in this case. One of the worst experiences ive had at an optometrist. I came into the establishment to seek assistance with getting a pair of contacts. I had previously been seen earlier in the year for an eye exam so figured i could be helped. I have been experiencing extreme headaches and other side effects from working without my glasses. I explained to the receptionist that i can not wear my glasses at work because I work with special needs children. The optometrist is out on vacation until the 20th so as a result i was told i could not be helped. There was no one that could do a contact lense exam. Just unheard of that because an optometrist is out on vacation that your entire establishment cannot perform the services of an optometry office. Could you imagine going to a doctors office and them telling you they can't help you because a doctor is out on vacation? The reps at the store suggested i go to the place i got my contact lenses from 2 years ago and lie that i am "going through changing insurances" so that i could get a free sample pair. What kind of garbage is that? Just trash and upsetting. I expected better after my previous appointment there went very well. (of course the optometrist was working that day) read more

I had nothing but a good time from start to finish. The Professor got me in a month earlier than my scheduled date and everyone was so welcoming and easy to talk to! The bad news is that every time I see an optometrist, my vision never gets any better, but it's great how they make it a fun experience, like picking out new frames with Adriana. Very unassuming storefront and if I hadn't noticed it while shopping at the Ralphs across the street, I'd never have guessed I'd find a better doctor than the one I mourned after he moved his practice. This is the best optometry experience I've ever had. Everyone at this office brings so much excellence and care to their work. I came in last year having headaches and light sensitivity to the point I was struggling with any light at night and Dr. Tomlin was able to identify a variety of ways to help - adding blue light blockers, calming eye exercises, and modifying my prescription for work at the computer. She really took the time to understand what was happening and the results allowed me to get my life back! Everyone in that office is excellent- Prof. Tomlin at the front desk, Richard, Kathy, and others whose names I may be missing. From working with insurance, informing you on different lens technology and options, ensuring your glasses fit well, every step they are committed to the best care and they bring it. Very nice and helpful staff. I came because my daughter broke her frame and Adriana helped me right when I walked in. The warranty didn't cover the damage but she fixed it no charge out of courtesy. She was done within minutes and the glasses were good as new. read more

Dr. Tomlin is seriously the best eye doctor i've ever been to. I've been wearing glasses for over 15 years and have been to many places. She truly cared about me and was super friendly. She wasn't even bothered by my fiance interrupting the visit to get something from me. She was extremely helpful in fitting contacts for me and reassured me that I'd have the right contacts before my wedding in August. The worst part about moving from afar is finding new Doctors. An acquaintance recommended Dr. Tomlin, and I am so happy and satisfied! After wearing glasses I couldn't see out of correctly from a previous visit to the wrong Optometrist in SoCal, (during my entire first year in SoCal), and dealing with a painful eye disease, I was truly miserable. Then I made an appointment with Dr. Tomlin. She spent an hour with me, and performed a spot on refraction! Dr. Tomlin and her staff are the greatest! I went to her for a second opinion on contact lenses. I was told that I couldn't wear soft lenses anymore and I shared my bitter opinion of the doctor that told me that to her. She was VERY professional even when I was going on and on. Very thorough exam and when she fit me with soft contact lenses she told me I could see 20/20 with both eye together. She explained why I could only see 20/25 with each eye separately and gave me the options and her thoughts on what I could/should do. When I went to pay out of pocket for my exam (since it was for a second opinion I had already used my wellvision benefit) she asked her billing person, Linda, to call VSP and see about getting an authorization for them to pay for the second opinion! Linda did call and my insurance will cover the second opinion eye exam too. I am so glad I was referred to her! I usually try to find doctors with after hours and weekend appointments so I don't have to miss work but she is worth it and she is close to my work. Who knows...I didn't even ask about the latest appointment or other options so maybe she does have other hours but it doesn't matter...again she is worth missing some work for definitely!!! And I can SEEEEE!!!!!!! read more

Went to see Dr. Tomlin for the first time today. I have a rare neurological disease which had taken my eyesight. I began a new Chemotherapy and my vision has been restored. Her office staff was sensitive to my very special needs and Dr. Tomlin was familiar with my diagnosis and took the extra time and care to verify my vision was restored to my previous prescription. I've been wearing glasses for a long time and this is the first pair of glasses I received that were worth paying for and wearing for nearly 3 years. I have since moved from the area but have been comparing my new glasses to the glasses Dr. Tomlin recommended. Although I don't wear the glasses anymore (multifocal progressive, etc.) I still hold on to them and won't throw them away. She went out of her way working with me to try contacts and to get the best glasses that wouldn't annoy me. Very polite woman and the staff is cordial as well.
