Fresh and delicious. Family restaurant. Good service. Quiet. Get there before 11:30am.

A lowkey homey Japanese spot serving authentic Japanese dishes. Their seafood was super fresh. All our rolls were delicious and packed with tasty seafood. I think their flavors were 10/10 and prices were great too. Four rolls were enough for two people. We got the Shrimp & Radish Sprouts, Tuna, Spicy Tuna, and Unakyu. We shared a Shio Hokke which was a perfectly grilled Atka Mackerel as an appetizer and it's soo succulent. Service was also attentive and sweet. Will definitely be back for more.

If you want authentic Japanese food and really good sushi, this is the place. The mini mall it is in is unassuming but when you step in, you feel like you're in a small restaurant in Japan. The staff are all Japanese and service is always great! If you get anything here, make sure to get a spicy tuna handroll as well. I could probably eat 10 of them, not kidding. The curry is also very good here!

This is a cute mom and pop spot. The service was very fast and attentive. Everything we had was tasty and fresh, especially the salmon. The spider roller was also fried perfectly. The only roll that wasn't great was the tomago, it just tasted like a hard boiled egg.

Everything here tastes amazing! The sushi pieces are big and packed with fresh fish, with just the right amount of rice, definitely not overloaded. The croquettes were a standout too, super crispy on the outside and filled with smooth mashed potato patty inside. I also tried the morisoba and the gyu don, both were full of flavor and absolutely hit the spot. The don, in particular, was rich and satisfying. Service was prompt and really friendly, and the cozy, welcoming atmosphere made the experience even better. It feels like a truly authentic Japanese sushi spot. One of my new favorite places, I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu!

Oh my goodness! This restaurant has literally been on my doorstep for 20 years and I never went until today. Absolutely fresh delicious fish and an ambience very similar to the tiny restaurants I visited in Tokyo. and who could beat fresh fish from Tokyo's Toyosu market! This is a secret spot that only those in the know or in the neighborhood know about. I could not possibly begin to list all the good things on the menu but the sushi we ate and mussels were incredibly tasty. Meals come with miso soup and salad and the portions are perfect. As we left, we planned many more outings here to work our way through the menu. So good! Service was friendly and attentive.

    Excellent people!!

Hard working people making the masses happy!! Always the best experience. I've never had a bad experience here in many years of patronage!!

Toshi has been an OG. My family and I have been going here for years and it's always been consistent quality and service! Definitely worth a try if you're in the area!

It's been years since I have been to this local favorite. Same hole in wall Japanese authentic small restaurant in a nondescript strip mall. The food is great, the service is average "family" help, acceptable. Will keep coming back for the food and small family feel and service, LOL

Nice little place in a strip mall with about 8 tables for 4 and done counter seats. Service was pretty quick and friendly. I had the Hamachi Kama (collarbone) and husband had the Toshi Gozen (house combo). Food was good quality, although my Kama was a little overcooked. I really liked the dressing on their salad. Not sure what was in it, but looked like some grated carrot?

A tucked away gem! Was craving curry tonight and googled for the nearest restaurant near me. So lucky to be close by because it tastes just like the curry I had when I used to live in Japan as a child.

Toshi's is a tiny and unassuming restaurant in the strip mall near me and I've heard nothing but great reviews. It is Japanese owned and operated so I had high expectations. I had their take-out once a while ago but I honestly don't remember how the food was, so I was eager to try it again. They have quite an extensive menu, ranging from ramen to sushi to even Japanese-Chinese food (called Chuuka), which is a rare find. I ordered the Lunch Sushi Combination which comes with salad and miso soup. The salad was delicious. I love the carrot dressing they used, it seems homemade. The miso soup was good too, but I really enjoyed the sushi. All of the fish was fresh and the rice was well seasoned. I appreciate that they gave different nigiri besides salmon, since it's so common among sushi places here. It definitely added authenticity to their sushi craft. I would love to come back and try their other items!

some may call this place a "hidden gem" (literally in a small, unassuming place in a strip mall) & I would certainly agree! this is one of my fav places in this area to get quality & delicious japanese food! being from hawaii, I feel like I'm pretty picky about where I go & this place has my japanese mother's approval as well. if any of this means anything to you, I'd say it's pretty well vetted lmao. I always recommend this place to people that want good quality asian food in (and around) portland, so make sure to go check them out!! -- FOOD -- their menu is EXTENSIVE & I love it!! so many options to choose from. they have a whole sushi menu, bentos, ramen, & a whole bunch of appetizers and entrees that are hard to find elsewhere! also make sure to look at their specials posted near the sushi bar! here's what we got this time: - chirashi bowl : super fresh with so much variety & the rice was perfectly seasoned! - miso salmon special : salmon was cooked to perfection - agedashi tofu : my family's fav appetizer treat - fried, savory goodness! -- MORE INFO -- PARKING : strip mall has a big parking lot, lots of spaces. SEATING : not a ton of seats, but haven't had trouble getting a table on a weekday. may need to make a reservation on the weekend. SERVICE : super sweet staff! AMBIANCE : the restaurant reminds me of small japanese restaurants in hawaii. super nostalgic & cozy!

    Complimentary salad and miso soup!

I went a few months ago with my siblings on a late Saturday and have been back a few times since for late night Friday grub with my friend. Not only are their prices reasonable, but the staff (I've had the same server every time) is so nice, attentive, and helpful. To top it off, the food is great. I love carpaccio everything and I love their entire carpaccio offering (minus the tuna cause I haven't tried it yet). But the yellowtail, salmon, and beef? EVERY TIME. Their chu-toro is also really fresh and buttery. I love medium fatty tuna more than I like the extra fatty one. But if you prefer the latter, try the otoro. Also, there scallops skewers?! A MUST. A favorite late night cap spot for sure.

I went to Hachi twice in one week because it was so good!…read more First off, Hachi is an Izakaya which is basically a Japanese bar. The ambiance is very much a bar/street food stall kind of place. Loved the hustle and bustle and style of these kinds of places. Don't expect a quiet night out! It gets decently loud, especially when business is booming. Weekends are open late until 2am! Make a reservation if you can!!! We even called on a Friday night an hour before coming and we were still able to land a reservation! It gets very busy on the weekends! Service on the Friday night was a 10/10, our server was actually being trained but he came to check on us frequently! Service on the Thursday was a little less enthused, our server only came to check on us maybe once towards the end. Now for the food and drinks! Drinks -Yuzu nade: yuzu lemonade w/ red wine. 10/10, I love anything yuzu, and it was so pretty! -Whiskey high ball. Comes in two sizes, 16 & 32oz, my friend got the double double and it was so strong! Will likely give you a nice buzz if you get the 32oz, haha! -Peach/Mango/Lemon Freezing Chu-Hais (can be non-alcoholic if you want!). Basically shochu (which is an alcohol similar to vodka or sake) with flavored carbonated water and lots of fresh fruit pieces. -(not pictured): house sake - not too strong, super simple taste Foods -Jalapeno Yellowtail Carpaccio. 10/10 with the yuzu ponzu sauce, definitely my top item! -Yakitori. We got multiple! Shishito peppers, grilled scallops, chicken thigh, pork belly, wagyu. The wagyu just meltsssss in your mouth! Worth it being $8.50 for the wagyu itself. All of the yakitori had great flavor! All differently priced, but worth trying them all! -Bluefin tuna roll. 8pcs for ~$8.50 is an absolute steal! Just melts in your mouth! -Bluefin Chutoro Sashimi (5pcs). Again, it melts in your mouth! Must try! They were out of the Otoro the day we got this but the Chutoro was still so yummy! -Ikayaki (grilled squid). Comes with a small side of spicy mago and pureed/minced ginger. Only thing is that the spicy mayo amount on the plate is so tiny so we had to get an extra side of it for $0.50. It was grilled and cooked to perfection, not too chewy or tough. -Takoyaki. Good ol fried octopus balls, can't go wrong with this guy. -Karaage (Japanese fried chicken). Comes in 2, 5, or 8 pcs. So juicy! -Citrus YTJ roll. Basically if the yellowtail carpaccio was a roll, without the yuzu sauce. This roll only has the ponzu sauce. Still so good!! My favorite roll, I highly recommend. -March 2026 special, Southwest Rainbow. Your classic rainbow roll except with spicy tuna, cucumber and cilantro in the middle. Topped with multiple sashimi fish types and cilantro. I've never had a sushi roll with cilantro but it was good! Had a little kick from the spicy tuna, I loved it! -Honey toast. Probably my least favorite thing because the inside was soft and dryyyyyy, also not a big honey fan. We had to get a side of honey for my friend so he could moisten up the middle a bit and eat it all. They're very generous with the ice cream scoops! Overall, 9/10 place for food and drinks! I'm recommending this place to all my friends and coworkers!!!!

I never thought I would get good ramen outside of Japan. Service is usual for a Japanese restaurant. It's just so polite and friendly. On a crowded day for lunch, we sat down to see how Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya fared on this legendary Japanese dish. Though tempted by several options on the menu, we could not resist the calling of the Garlic Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen, which seemed to be the house favorite. Service was prompt and efficient, and they dished up a pair of bowls for us in hardly any time at all. Our assessment? Noodles. I've had ramen all over the place, and Kizuki wins top marks for its overall texture and consistency. If there's a better noodle in the world, I have yet to find it. It's got that perfect chew. Broth. The garlic tonkotsu broth is a winner. Obviously, you need to like garlic if you're going to like this broth, but it's a feature of the broth, and I didn't find it overwhelming. I didn't leave a single drop of it when I was done, which is all you need to know. Goodies. Kizuki includes high-quality ingredients that included a full soft-boiled egg, onions, bamboo shoots, pork chashu, seaweed (nori), and sprouts. I've been to some ramen shops that may have had more, and certainly some who have had less, but this is probably the best quality/quantity blend I've experienced. I might recommend splurging for the extra pork-belly, for those who are protein inclined, but still, top grades for the goodies. Kizuki is an expanding chain, and if other branches have the same formula, then they've done a great job preserving quality with a winning formula. While I only had the one menu item, it feels like the core principles wouldn't change much, so I'm pretty confident in a five-star for this place. Service was just as good as the food, despite it being a packed house. Well done, Kizuki! Arigato gozaimasu! いただきます!
