The fries were nice and crispy. The torta was excellent, the meat had great flavor, and the bread used is so good! The toppings were nice and fresh (all toppings includes lettuce, tomatoes, pickled jalapeños, avocado and mayo). They also have a salsa bar with lots of salsa and additional topping options (pickled carrots are great btw). I used to really enjoy the food here, but the quality has gone downhill. My ham and cheese torta was mostly just bread--what used to be thick slices of ham is now just a single deli slice. The carne asada fries were disappointing too, mostly beans with a few pieces of meat on top. At $30, it's definitely not worth it. Save your money and head to Tortas Manantial instead. read more

Always wanted to try this place. That was a mistake. I admit I had no idea what I was ordering... but I can't imagine anyone liking it. First of all, the menu on the wall is too small for me to read. I have the eyesight of a 90 year old... No paper menus. The website is useless. We were told to scan a qr code that's displayed on the back wall which my phone couldn't focus on. I had the Torta Ahogada, I think. Absolutely horrible. The bread was completely soaked in this terrible red sauce. Completely mush, and that was the best part. The meat was dry and tough. The avocado was... avocado at least. I sampled my mom's beans and they were good. One person cooking? Took 20 minutes to get our food and there was only a couple other people waiting. SO YUMMY! I got a chorizo breakfast burrito here and it was so good! It comes with home made potato chips that are SO crunchy, I added them inside my burrito! The tortilla is so amazing and it's crisped well. The sauces were top notch. I really have no complaints, I want to return and try other dishes here too! Not sure what's worse...the service or the food. Was visiting family and craving Tortas so stopped in. We ordered the Torta Paquime and some carne asada tacos. It literally took almost 10 min for our order to be taken. They acted bothered like they're not an open public restaurant - weird. Then, took another 45min+ to get our order. Was cold and tasted like it was sitting out for 2 days. Not to mention the tacos had nothing but meat on a tortilla literally.(which I'm not even sure was carne asada, literally mystery meat) No one would answer me when I asked about this like are you out of everything that goes on the taco orrrrr? The tortas were horrible! Which was most upsetting because I was cravinggg. The tomatoes and avocado were browned and the meat was almost gooey. Can't really describe the texture but it was gross. Love the variety of this place. You can find anything you are in the mood for from savory to sweet and from snack to full meal. Recently tried their milanesa Torta and it was so good. Milanesa was nice and tender and the bread was so soft and nicely toasted. Generous amount of avocado and pickled jalapeño have this torta a nice balance. It also comes with a side of chips. I've been wanting to try this place for a while & I wish I would've come sooner! The food reminded me of being at some of my friends family parties -- like my best friend's mom made it. Maybe it's because I'm from Arizona, but Mexican food is comfort food to me, and this was what I needed today. The tacos dorados were perfectly crunchy, and I am a s l u t for lettuce, so seeing it come out just fully topped was beyond ideal. The potato & chorizo filling was creamy, a little spicy, and well balanced with the toppings. Oh and that red sauce from the salsa bar? Yeah. You have to try it. It's not like other red salsas that are off just a bit (if you've been to the other run of the mill spots, you know what I mean). It's probably the best balanced red sauce I've had in a while. The green salsa was also good, but wasn't what I was expecting. It was more like a poblano, and less like a tomatillo (still really good though & definitely worth trying). The fish taco was tasty flavor wise, but the fish portion was on the lighter side. If you're looking for protein, I'd pick a different item. The fresas con crema was the star here for sure. I tried to take a better photo but I uhhh dropped the strawberry on myself, and resorted to just savoring the mental image. I am not a huge fan of coconut .. or walnuts/pecans.. but the lady I ordered with asked if I wanted everything on top & I just blindly said yes. Tortas Paquime is my boyfriend's favorite taco joint in town, so it's pretty regular in our takeout rotation. We usually go to the one off of 24th and McDowell, but have visited this location a couple of times now. We've gotten takeout a couple times from this location. It's pretty nice and spacious inside, and everyone has always been very friendly. Not a huge deal, but they do seem to be a little slower in fulfilling orders than the other locations. We've also received carne asada when we ordered the rib eye--not typically a big deal either but it was pretty dry and not super flavorful. Totally possible that it was just an off day that time. My favorites are the rib eye tacos and bean and cheese burrito, and the dude absolutely loves the tacos volteados. We love love love the guac here and the house salsa is spectacular too. read more

I generally go to the one in SunnySlope but today I was in South Phoenix for a project. I didn't want to drive home in traffic so i stopped in to Tortas Paquime around 6pm on a Thursday. This location is clean an beautiful also. The staff is snappy and friendly. I love practicing Spanish while ordering food. I got my usual which is the bean and cheese burrito. The beans were creamy and not too salty. The cheese is not oily and the tortilla is thinner then other places. The aguample and salsa roja at the salsa bar are TDF! I also picked up some conchas for my son on the way out. He loves them. I would recommend this place to anyone and I hope (hint hint) that Tortas Paquime opens a location in SW Mesa by me in the Fiesta District. read more

The breakfast burrito I had was filling and quite delicious. The only thing was the bacon was clumped up in parts so more evenly spread would have helped. It did make for some amazing bites of only bacon though! The chorizo breakfast burrito was equally as good. I will be back to try the tortas. Omfggggoodfood! I will be joining the gym around the corner to offset the amazing food, and my new bean burro addiction from this lovely spot. I am always on the hunt for a good bean burro. Nothing has ever compared to my dads homemade pintos with ham-hocks and mommas homemade tortillas. I can't remember the last time I had a bean, and cheese burrito this good. This was not a very good lunch. The chicken Milanese Torta was doomed by oversaturated bread that fell apart and a horrible cut of breaded chicken that was cold and not very appetizing. They cut that chicken into tiny pieces and it looked off color with no real breading, but failed to warm it up (although the bread was toasted). The inside was even worse as the bun tried to support avocado, sauce, jalapeno's and a nasty tomato. Most of this meal was left in the parking lot for the birds. If you can't get the Torta ($7) right, then I cannot return to try any other crap on that menu. read more

When I first walked in I noticed they had fresh Mexican sweet breads, which I would usually have to get from a separate place like food city or a bakery. Just ordered Nachos, no flavor other than a disgusting artificial nacho cheese sauce. No jalapeños guac was not tasty, beef was old and tuff. Now I also ordered the Torta Paquime, their namesake. Bread was old and dry, as for the filling I couldn't distinguish between all the mayo masking it. The tacos are for my assistant, I hope they are decent but I'm not holding my breath.
