Really cool Torrid store with lots of quality new inventory. I really liked the styles and the way the clothes are cut to flatter a more curvy body type, and there was a lot I wanted to try on! The location is good too, inside the mall The Shoppes at Carlsbad. Only problem is it's small and has very few dressing rooms. read more

Terrible Customer Service! Carlsbad store was closed today so I had to drive to Escondido location to return a garment that the sales woman forgot to take the security sensor off of. Woman I bought the dress off of at the Escondido location last night was standing at the counter gossiping to the other sales woman. No one greeted new customers walking in. She was so busy blabbing to her friend ringing my clothes out she didn't bother to take the ink sensor off. I realized this after I got home:( the only thing she said to me was what's your insider phone number? Then she continued to talk to her friend. Salesperson was names Lindsay at the Escondido store. Definitely won't be spending my money at Torrid anymore! Called customer service and they said it's against Torrid Policy to be closed during business hours...enough people are always on shift to run a store. read more

I used to love this store. Now the employees are rude. I showed up at 10am when they should have opened, stood around for 45 minutes waiting and no one ever showed up I called another store and they told me to email corporate. Went in last night to buy some jeans my experience started off good I bought what I needed and left got home and ended up not liking the jeans. I returned them this morning. I think if your working with the public, private and personal conversations should be kept off the work floor it makes people feel uncomfortable and awkward. Although......... I did enjoy Jennifer she was an excellent example of what customer service should be obviously since I know her name she introduced herself to me. She was so nice and helped me so much! SO DISAPPOINTED in how I was treated tonight. I give Torrid a lot of business every year and I finally had a return to make. Yes, it was a larger return but I figured since I haven't returned anything since last year it would be ok. Wrong! First off, the girls made me feel so bad for returning the items. I apologized twice throughout the process but it was brushed off both times, as if my apologies weren't good enough for them. Second, the girl said I was missing a receipt. After much shuffling through the items I asked her to see the receipts again and found that all of my items were indeed on the receipt. Then, I was informed all my items were bought clearance so I would only get a store credit. Seemed odd but I obliged until I realized I had purchased everything with "Haute Cash" so the items showed as 50% off and were NOT on clearance. The girls didn't seem to like that, but it's not my fault it didn't show up on the receipt. To top it off another customer came in and I saw a complete 180 in change in their attitudes. Really? I can't believe I was treated so poorly when I was nothing but polite to those girls. I love Torrid, but I will not be returning back to this location. read more

Love love LOVE the ladies and the selection at this Torrid. Everyone is always so sweet and friendly and helpful. I've been to this location probably 7-8 times and every time I've had a lovely experience. Being +sized it's very difficult to find things that are cute and fit my body properly so needless to say... I HATE SHOPPING. Buuut here I always have a wonderful experience, the employees just make you feel so comfortable. They always go above and beyond. They've measured my bust for bras which was fantastic because I've been wearing the wrong size for years, they've taken an entire outfit off of a mannequin for me just because I wanted to try it on, they've even given me input on pieces I've selected and helped create some amazing outfits. Not in an up-selling kind of way but in a genuine "I want you to feel as amazing outside as you are inside" kind of way. They go above and beyond, and that is why I will always come back. The Torrid staff here is great. I always am.treated well and they really are good at making you feel welcome. I am not always a fan of the color for the season, but I usually always find one or two great things. I've been shopping at Torrid for years and love the coupons they put out. I love this location! I've had problems with unhelpful, rude employees at the location in Escondido but the employees in Carlsbad are the best. Ashley, Dalia and Lucy are always such a joy and always make sure you feel comfortable and love what you're getting. Prices are high but its for great quality clothing and shoes that come in a large range of sizes and in my experience lasts long. Everyone's always ready to help find the perfect size for you in what ever you're looking for. I've been shopping here since I was in high school and I think they currently have the best employees I've ever had the pleasure of shopping with. read more

I don't think I could have loved this store more. I didn't come here for me, but I came with some family members to help my sister find a dress for my brothers wedding which was the next day. She had been so stressed about it for weeks and had gone to soo many stores looking for a good dress. We decided to make one last stop at the mall and we ended up in this store (thanks heaven)! We did some snooping and then asked for a fitting room. One worker inpaticular, Darelyn, came up to see what all the fuse was about, since there was 5 of us waiting outside the fitting room to see my sisters dresses. My sister put on a couple of really cute dresses when Darelyn said she thought of the perfect dress, so she went and grabbed it and it definitely was the perfect dress. We were all very excited about it and then Darelyn even got a belt that complemented the dress perfectly. She was so sweet and helpful and we could have never done it without her. After we left very happily, we realized we never asked for her name and we were all surprised by just how genuine she was in helping us and what a great worker she was. So my aunt went back and asked for her name and we found out she is the store manager there. We were happy to hear this because she fits the role so well. I was so glad when a "fat girl Hot Topic" AKA Torrid opened in my mall. Previously, I would have rather ordered online than drive all the way to Escondido (the next closest store). In a few weeks is my annual Vegas trip. This normally includes one fancy schmancy night out, and this year, it is front of stage seats to Coco's "Peepshow". Anybody who knows anything knows you can't sit front and center looking at hot mess at Coco's show. So, the hunt for a dress began. As much as a lot of stores like to front like they carry plus sizes, they do not. Or, they are out of stock of the sizes you need, or the styles are downright horrendous. After exhausting my online tolerance for shopping, I ended up at Torrid. Deralyn was the only associate working. She jumped at the chance to help me, and within 10 minutes, I had 6 dresses to try on. I settled on one, but the size they had was too big. She said it was brand new and just come in the day before and assured me that they would be getting the additional sizes on Monday or Tuesday and that it would be no problem to do an exchange. I called Monday, put the next 2 sizes down on hold, and within 5 minutes of arriving, was back out the door. The associate that helped me on my return was so nice and helpful as well. You can tell they really pride themselves on service, which is not easy to do in retail. Unless I manage to lose 60 lbs in the next year, I will be back! read more

This store has a great selection and Darelyn the sales woman could t be more helpful. She acts as a personal shopper if you want her too. She has great style sense and helped me pull together some looks I would not have thought of on my own. She knows the details of all of the products, too. For instance she knows what runs big, small, stretches with wear, shrinks. She's fantastic. read more

I have shopped at torrid for years. I love it so much I even worked there for a while. I've lived in Oceanside for 7 years and have shopped at the Carlsbad location that whole time and never had a problem. Today I had $500 to spend and I was SO excited. I walked in and immediately started grabbing things. By the time I made it to the back I finally saw someone who worked there and all she said was hi. I had all the clothes piled on top of my sons stroller and she never asked if I needed help or a fitting room when usually they are already taking things off your hands and starting a dressing room. Once I gathered everything I was ready to try it on. I had to politely interrupt her to ask for her to open a dressing room for me. Usually the salesperson will take all the clothes and nicely hang everything up. She didn't do that. She never came back to ask how things were going or if I needed different sizes. I had to get dressed again and go gather different sizes myself. She really lacked in customer service. I was really disappointed especially after all the $ I spent there today read more

I usually don't like to complain about retail workers but I'm really disappointed in this location... I was greeted when I walked in but it wasn't like an actual true greeting you could totally tell they were just like great more people... I started looking for some items and found what I wanted... Had to look through all the sizes as all the tables were completely ripped apart mind you when I was in there there was no one else... I was looked at twice by both employees who saw I had an arm full of stuff and no one asked if I needed a room until I grabbed more stuff and had to politely interrupt their conversation, also speaking poorly about other customers is tacky wait till no ones in there anymore or after work, then she basically opened the door hurried me in and went away good thing I grabbed all my sizes I needed checkout was really awkward she didn't know how to smile nor did she say thank you or have a great night no closure to my purchase. As a previous employee I'm really ashamed I worked here. The customer has just gone down I'm still gonna shop but I'll be more prepared for the outcome next time. read more
