Enjoyed a lovely traditional scottish high tea with my wife. The first course of soup was incredibly delicious. We tried 3 different meat pies and all were incredible, my favorite being the steak and ale. We also ordered the Scottish sausage role which by itself was fantastic but then the dipping sauce carried it over the top. I used to sell meat pies at various Scottish Highland Games and was delighted in the taste, quality, and presentation of our dinner. The hostess was incredibly kind and thoughtful. LOVE TORRA TEA! Took my girls to afternoon tea. The staff was clearly in the trenches, probably a new hire, and still everyone was so wonderful. We neglected to remember everyone's names but the servicewoman with dark hair and tattoos: so amazing, warm, and patient with us. The owner went around and checked in with everyone and she was so fun and made us feel really welcomed. Oh and, of course, the food and drink was fabulous. My friends and I haven't stopped thinking about the tea. Oh, my gosh. It was incredible. The scones were the best part for me. The croissant sandwiches were a little hard (literally) to eat but the cucumber sandwich was to die for. The cakes were delicious too! But I would've taken longer to enjoy them (and you should too because they're quite rich imo). The soups were incredible. No notes. Flavorful, appetizing, the perfect amount. My friends and I always love these kinds of things and for an incredibly reasonable price, you leave feeling comfortably full in a way few restaurants really take the time to ensure with their portions. If I wasn't graduating, I'd be here every weekend After this experience I know that I want to find little, perfect places like this for all my major holidays and life events because it was such a treat to share with the people I love. Edit: this review is long enough but I'd like to add that some people talk about the wait and to that I say that some healthy perspective is appropriate. This business is less than a year old at this location at the time of this review. I think they're doing fabulous and if the wait is in service to the quality assured in the product, I applaud that. Went to celebrate a birthday. Table was set up lovely. The atmosphere was great. Party arrived at 6pm. Didn't get beverage for 30 min. Food was order, but didn't get it for almost another hour. Serveral people at our table had to wait an additional 20 min. 1.5-1.8 hours from seating to eating was ridiculous. The food was not that great either. I was excited to get scones only to be served two dry hockey pucks.. The $22 plate was ridiculously small. However, in was told the short rib was good. The drinks were good, but as a whole I was less than impressed. Service and timing was so bad I don't think I will ever be back. read more

My sister & I decided to check this place out. I had seen reviews on Facebook's Food Finder page for Spokane. I was also craving an afternoon tea like the kind had in England a few years ago. This place filled the bill! From the moment we walked in it was absolutely decadent. The place is elegant and lovely. The staff were all friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. I have to mention our lovely and sweet server, Elle. She couldn't have been more charming. We ordered The Royal Tea and it was everything we had hoped for from the Chilled Peach Gazpacho (heavenly) and Mango Mimosas to the wonderfully, crumbly scones and delicate sandwiches and finally the deliciously comforting tea. I will go ahead and give it a two only because I liked our server, host....guy who seemed to be doing more than one job. Our meal took an hour maybe an hour fifteen for family with soup to get soup, those of us who had salad, well we watched the people who got soup eat soup. My drink was delicious but after half an hour with no offers of a refresh I started rationing my water. I have never sat at at table with food ordered and gotten up to walk to the grocery store in the same parking lot to get food, but today I smuggled beef jerky into to a restaurant for me and my teenage kids. Unfortunately I have more to say. My family, (I had taken my 15 year old home by this point) tried to order desert and my son's order placed before we left were unable to be completed as they lacked the nessesary components to make either the cookie or the cake plate. Or the single slice spice cake. So 2 hrs small portions and over worked host/waiter/bartender and food on par with mine....not worth the price. read more

Had a reservation for 2:00 pm. It seems as though there may have been only one person serving tables. Took an HOUR to have someone come over and take our order, don't know why they needed to take an order since I had to put in an order when I made a reservation. High tea usually takes about 1-2 hours. But 4 hours? Crazy! Food was great ambience was good but service was poor and at $48 a person the experience was.... Lacking. For 6 adults for lunch We each got 1 tiny sandwich about the size of 2 fingers. 1 scone and 1-2 miniature desserts. Seriously? Our waitress said that each tower could feed 2 people with plenty leftover. Wrong. She didn't know what she was talking about . Weirdest experience. There are 2 other Tea places around Spokane. Will go to them. This might be a great place to order take out. The others who came in after us got served, ate and left in a reasonable time period. All before our 4 hour's journey. read more

This was an exceptional experience. I came with my mom and two daughters to celebrate our 8 year old's birthday. I cannot overstate this-- if you are a fan of high tea, whiskey, and/or Scottish fare, this is impossible to beat in Spokane. Our server was so charming and kind- she informed us of the mocktail menu, which is still being crafted but does include n/a champagne and a couple of other super fun creations. The ambiance is sparkly good, exactly what you'd want if you are looking for a lingery, special experience with fellow tea lovers. We had the minted mushy peas and mustard mashed potatoes as sides-- after one bite of the potatoes I knew these were the best I've ever had. We also split a pot of the Golden Fire tea (heavy spiced turmeric- ohmygosh good). Since we came at lunchtime, we each got a lunch special- the soup and sandwiches for adults, and one junior version for our birthday girl. The soup we had was cullen skink (smoked haddock chowder) which came with a trio of tea sandwiches: cucumber, chicken salad, and I forget the third, but it was on pumpernickel. Friends, it was all incredible. The kind of rare occasion where we all got happier & happier as we ate and drank tea and kept saying to one another, "Can you believe how good this is?? Wow!" The smoked haddock soup was light-smoky-salty chowder goodness, with a bite to the potatoes and a light aftertaste, not too fishy at all. The big, beautiful croissant the chicken salad came on was light, buttery, and warm. The cucumbers were sliced paper thin, and had the nicest soft- salt experience to them. Our girl got a trio of tarts for her dessert: chocolate raspberry, lemon, and coconut strawberry. She refused to share, which is significant because that little girl is picky. Yet again, our server rocked it. She was funny, present but not pushy, knowledgeable, and gracious. We all loved her. I cannot WAIT to come here again when the weather's a little cooler and bring my tea-loving husband for a cozy afternoon together. They have nice big meaty plates for dinner which are guaranteed to make him happy, along with that beautiful whiskey selection. I'm just so happy, guys. One of those rare times when the reality was significantly better than the expectation, and the price was well worth it (I included a shot of our receipt, so you have an idea of lunch prices). The high tea is $$ but that's exactly what high tea normally costs-- it's an imminent birthday gift request for this girl! This would be another pick in my top 3 places to eat in Spokane out of the 150 places I have gone to in the past two years for dinner. I have been here several times with a small group and twice with a large group of 10-12. It is outstanding in every way. The food is exceptional in taste and detail. The cocktails are divine and fun and the desserts are heaven. My personal favorite are the Bourbon glazed ribs and the tomato bisque soup, The owners are incredible hosts that make the evening even more special. The ambiance is perfect for those special occasions that warrant something a little extra. This is a romantic place to have dinner, a special place for birthdays or anniversary or maybe an important date night. Another fun thing to do is dress up and take grandma, mom and granddaughters to high tea. It makes for such a special memory. Okay, I want to preface this review with we went during Restaurant week (normally very busy but the same menu for everyone so it should be cut and dry) and I don't normally write these types of reviews. But let's start with the good: the cocktails were very tasty (highly recommend the vanilla spice old fashioned, seriously want the recipe for it) and we were seated very quickly (we had reservations). The squash soup was tasty. That's about where the good ends. Once we were seated we were forgotten about for about 10-15 minutes until I had to ask for water and menus (people who had arrived after us had received these). 10 minutes later we waited for someone to take our order. Once we ordered off the limited menu, we waited another 10 minutes to receive our first course which ended up being the soup (which was not the apps we ordered but was one of our sides from the main entrée), then 5 minutes later we got our drinks. So let's recap: it took us about 30 minutes from seated to get soup and our drink. And yes this is accurate because after we didn't get water we started timing it as a joke. Then we waited some more to get our appetizer. Then we waited some even longer to get our entrée. We never seemed to have the same waiter (I think our original waiter was the bartender?). The fish was over salted and overcooked, the chicken pot pie was watery. At this point we were so hungry that we really didn't care what it tasted like as it was about 1.5 hours into our reservation that we got our entrée. The dessert blessedly came out quickly but that's because it was clearly plated an hour earlier because the cakes were bland and stale (seriously tasted like day old cake...I didn't finish them and I LOVE dessert). The we waited another 10 minutes to get someone to ask for a check. Then we waited and then I went to the bathroom and I came back and we still had not gotten our check. At this point (20 minutes after we finished dessert) , we pulled out cash, had to ask what our total was, they went to print out our check (20 minutes after we had asked for it), we left cash at the table and left. It took over 2 hours for us to have not great food and cost us $130 dollars. Would not go back and would not recommend. Which is a bummer because we were really looking forward to eating there. read more

I'm giving this five stars, although I was there on a busy Saturday and our service was terribly slow. Our server did not explain things, and really needed better training. The owner came out at the end and explained everything which was awesome! Our group of five ladies had reservations at noon and we left at three to give you perspective. I ordered the tea flight which was fun! I loved trying four different teas but they were cold or gone before our lunch arrived. The scones were the BEST scones of my life!!!!!! Served warm with lemon curd....so good I wanted to lick my plate! Tried mushy peas for the first time and they were delicious! Sausage rolls and mustard sauce were so delicious...took me back to New Zealand in the 1980's!!!! I want to return and try the proper tea service and a whiskey flight or cocktail. The tea sandwiches looked amazing! Oh and the interior was modern and the velvet chairs were very comfortable! I will be back!!!! read more

What a beautiful tea room! High quality table setting and furnishings! The large menu was so inviting. The five of us had afternoon tea which was presented on tiered plates and prepared with obvious attention to detail! The squash soup was superb! I loved the chicken salad in croissant. And the marble rye bread on the curried egg salad was so fresh! I was disappointed in the scones as they were dry. But the gourmet cookies and cakes were flavorful, pretty, and delicious. Our tea pots were generous as well, and they even have liquor! I would have preferred slightly faster service as there was only one very good waiter on duty for the entire room. The busboy only set out new service and didn't clear our tables, that was left to the waiter. Make a reservation soon and enjoy a lovely meal or afternoon snack in a friendly cozy setting. read more

Torrance Tea is a hidden gem. The beautiful decor, the china and tablecloths are reminiscent of going out to tea in England. As a tea lover and a scotch enthusiast, I was really excited to find this place that serves a very nice example of high tea. The savory pies were very good, I had the shepherds pie and my friends opted for the steak and onion. Next time I go I will try the vegetarian lentil option.
