We waited a few months to try this place and sadly have to say it was NOT worth the wait. We ordered steak street tacos and they were filled with more onion than meat and the shells had burnt bits on them and were very greasy. The little meat that was in the taco was unevenly cooked, some red and raw and other pieces overdone. The meat was also very bland. The cook made a comment that we took meat out of the tacos instead of taking accountability for the lack in quality of the food served by them. We were also surprised to find out we paid $3.25 per taco and they refused to refund us.aI will note that the crispy burrito was good unfortunately not good enough for us to want to go back. read more

We came in on a whim while traveling through, just looking for a decent meal. My expectations were blown out of the water. The place was very clean, the atmosphere was pleasant, the food was great and the service was exceptional. Maria our server was personable, fun and knowledgeable of the menu. read more

Pretty good. My extended family loves this place, so I go. Not great but just okay compared to Mexican restaurants in the Seattle area.

For a place that publicizes it's history so proudly, what a horrible experience! My wife and I visited for the 1st time as we live just two minutes away, but I'd rather travel much further and get treated as a customer. Our waiter was as inattentive as anyone we've ever had, didn't greet us, didn't tell us he was busy (there were about 7 other tables being used, and one additional waitress). The young man that brought us our chips and salsa, and our waters, you could tell he was uncomfortable with how long it was taking, because before our waiter ever showed up, he was refilling our waters. Service was absolutely pitiful. Food was well below average as the chicken fajita meat was crumbles of chicken, instead of sliced strips of chicken. We had researched this place before coming, and were hoping the manager's comments were sincere, but it seems like the manager always types the same response, "we hope you will give us another chance to serve you better"....sir, you've been saying that for over a year, according to Yelp and Google, maybe it's time to turn over the reins to someone that cares about serving customers. Will never visit again. read more

This is one of the best Mexican food places in CdA/Post Falls. They begin with tasty salsa with chips. The hot has good flavor and plenty of punch. The staff is usually very helpful and friendly and takes good care of you throughout your visit. The food is pretty good. Portions are filling and generally cooked right. In my humble opinion they lack a little flavor which can be helped with a little salt. I just feel like a top notch restaurant shouldn't need to rely on adding salt. This is a good place for lunch or dinner for individuals and small groups. read more

Place is crap I ordered a deep fried enchilada and I found a hair in the first bite they took it back but service was crap and waitress was rude they I tried to order something different was a shrimp enchilada and wanted to replace shrimp too steak and they said no way it's not possible would not recommend this place at all food was horrible if I could do 0 stars I would they didn't even give me a discount on the bill read more

I have not one complaint about this restaurant. We sat at the bar. Devon was a very attentive waiter/bartender. The salsa served with complimentary chips, had a great depth of flavor. The margaritas were delicious, and huge! We ordered veggie fajitas, which featured broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, peppers, & onions. The flavor here was also excellent. Will definitely visit again, for awesome Mexican food with great service. read more

This has to be the worst Mexican restaurant ever, the portions are small the food is cool upon arival but the plates are hot. The servers are smug and rude stay away read more

I was just traveling through and it seemed like an ok place. I underestimated. The service was quick and friendly, the chips an salsa were good, and the food was very good and good portions. The only draw back at all( which was very minor) is the chicken in my surf and turf was a little overdone. If I am in the area again I would definitely return read more

Hubby and I just had dinner here and it was delicious. I had the fish tacos and they were one of the best I have ever had. We will definitely be back to try more read more

Delicious lunch, I will have to come back for margaritas. The plates are large portions so be ready to take some home or bring an appetite. Service was great, there was just no one at the counter to seat us when we came in. read more

Pros-reasonably priced, decent food/entrees. Many menu choices . Cons-stale chips. No hot sauce at table. Had to go searching for some. No drink menu. Dirty napkins . Salsa was mediocre read more

If I could rate this zero stars I would. This place was was terrible. The food was bland and way over priced. We ordered margaritas and they were pretty much straight sweet and sour mix, you couldn't even taste the alcohol. My boyfriend has been living in postfalls for 7 years and had never been because of the negative things he has heard about it from the locals. However I convinced him to go so that we could make our own opinion. Well needless to say we will never go back and the negative comments were correct. If you Mexican food don't go here. You will be stuck with a large bill and a bad taste in your mouth! read more

Yummmmm. Tacos pastor was the best tacos my husband and I have ever had. I had the Mar Y Tierra, was so good. Nice good looking waiters as well. We had an awesome date. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the salsa did kinda taste like Pace and the chips are a little stale and bland. (Still edible tho) But you shouldn't go to a restaurant on the free starters anyway right? We will be back. Seriously the best food I've had in over a year. read more

Friendly Service and decent Mexican Food. Not the best Mexican Cuisine we have had but they do have an extensive Menu. We also had a large group of 16 and the service was fast and without any issues. read more

By far, the worst Mexican food we have ever had. The child's taco was full of grease and unedible. The mild salsa had no flavor, the hot salsa had very little heat. The chips weren't made fresh, they came from a bag. The ground beef had a funny flavor and wasn't appetizing at all. The service was non existent, once the food was delivered, we were not checked back on, no refills, no pre bussing or anything. We had to ask for water and soda refills. If the server would have done their job, I probably wouldn't be so upset. I spent 31.28 to turn around and drive thru Taco Bell so my son can eat a taco that isn't drinched in grease. The staff was hanging at the bar telling jokes while the single white boy (busser) was trying to bus and reset tables. Even had to ask for our bill. Beware...as the Bandit would call it, it's a Choke and Puke. read more

Salty beyond salty. Door greeter lazy. Made me walk to the back of the dining room to be seated. Really? Eaten here several times. Hit and miss. Mostly miss. Salsa good though! read more

OMG! About time I found a Mexican restaurant that has food like I had when I lived in SoCal. Margaritas are very good and they are so cheap! Had 2 shredded beef tacos with re fried beans & Mexican rice. Very good food. Hope to make this place my Margarita Wednesday place to be - every Wednesday. Can't wait unit next Wednesday. read more

Staff was so friendly and the margarita was cold and strong. Food was good. Chips crunchy and delicious. Our waitress Annabelle was funny, sweet and quick to check in on us. Great eat after a long day of traveling and its conveniently located near our hotel. I'll come back again next time I'm in town. read more

The food was truly mediocre. The chips were flavorless as was the salsa. We ordered tacos which were 60% grease to 40% meat, not good. I usually don't write bad reviews because I appreciate how hard it is to own a business. This was really a disappointment though. read more

I don't understand the negative reviews at all. My wife and I have been frequenting Toro Viejo in Post Falls for a several years, and the food and service have ALWAYS been wonderful! Makes me wonder if the crappy reviews were posted by people who either haven't actually been there and/or had some sort of hidden agenda... ?? read more

The food was good not great but good but the way they talk and look at you just makes you feel unwelcome they give you the attitude as if you don't know what you want or are talking about. They do have a big burrito I wish it was bigger but it was still big and tasty... update- we returned here for dinner on Veterans Day I got a burger to go with the hand off I was eating it within 5 min. The bun was soaked I ate half of a completely soggy bun thinking it would get better before I almost puked I'm not going back again. read more

We had a late lunch recently. We were served complimentary chips and salsa which were hot and fresh. Three of had a combo which were very tasty and a large portion. Will definetly go back again 2 items plus rice and beans was $8.99. read more

You would be better off going to Azteca in Spokane it is about the same cost and the food is 100% better. I have had better enchiladas at Taco Bell, all the meats (chicken, ground beef and shredded beef) were all very wet not moist but wet and not in a good way sadly. All 3 of the meals ordered were way below what we were hoping for. Also it took 15 min after being seated to even have a drink order taken, keep moving nothing to see here folks. read more

I've been to this restaurant numerous times since I live in the area, and all my experiences have been good. Service was fast and friendly, and I like the food I've had served. Usually I order #5 - a chili relleno and cheese enchilada (no meat for me) and it comes with beans and rice. Salsa and chips are served at the beginning of the meal. Always delicious. Also the coffee is okay. I'd rather have a mocha, but if there's only coffee, I'll drink that. It is a great place for after-church chats with friends. read more

For true Mexican food...this is a favorite! When I want to celebrate, I'm off to Toro Viejo. And, hands down, Amanda provides incredible service. She always remembers what I like and has a refreshing uplifting personality. If you like variety, their "casuela" (beef and chicken) is out of this world! read more

Ordered steak fajitas. Sadly they had no flavor. When we complained, the server Nico, said "everyone else likes them." No one cared at all that we weren't satisfied. They kept blaming us for not liking their food. The salsa tastes like it came out of a jar. One tasted rancid. We didn't say anything about it, just ate the plain chips. Terrible service and food. read more

Best Mexican food in town! I work across the street and get the chicken enchiladas almost every day for lunch. Kind people, good food, always fast! The other reviews for this place are probably from stick up people who don't know how to feel a place out. Eat here! You will love it I promise read more

Food used to be great. Not so much anymore. Tortilla chips were burnt. Told waiter and he said they looked fine to him read more

Wow, was told by locals it was amazing and large portions. Sadly this felt like a teen made it - very little flavor. Taco salad didn't even come with tortillas and maybe 2 T meat AND beans. Bland Mexican Caesar. Rice tasted watered down. Salsa was good, but not impressed at all. Oh and the person who brought our food had really long nails dragging in the edge of the rice - everyone pushed it off the plate. read more

Had occasion to try this place for lunch on recommendation from friends. Ordered the arroz con pollo. Found it nothing special. so-so sauce, lumpy rice. Service was good. I ordered a Mexican made beer that when poured was completely flat, no carbonation at all. Pointed it out to waitress & she brought another. We poured and got a nice foamy head w/carbonation. I did not, however, put this place on my go to Mexican place. read more

I called in an order to be picked up by 6 pm and when we arrived they said they had no call in order. Then a guy comes out and said they found it and it will be ready in 15 minutes. Wasted our time. Will return. Have been a customer for many years and never had to deal with this. We have lots going on and don't have time to wait for orders not being turned in.. very unprofessional. read more

First time visit as we were passing through. The food was pretty good. Liked the salsa served with the chips, had a nice little kick to it. Had the macho burrito and it was good and flavorful, my wife had a combo...chili relleno and enchalada...she loved it. Unfortunately, it was sort of busy for one waiter...Nikko was amazing though, running around and getting it done... friendly as well. Just felt bad he had so much to do. read more

It was 830 when i walked in the door. Stood and waited by the sign for a min. Then a young lady with a shitty attitude said sorry sir we are closed. Hmmm. Thought you didn't close until 9 is what i said. She said our winter hours are different. So where is the sign for that. All i wanted was something to carry out. Funny how the front door was open the open sign on and people eating. Guess i will never eat here. Rude bitch as a server or hostess whatever she was. To busy running here mouth chatting with the two other girls. read more

!st time trying here. Service was great from thime we walked in till we left. The food is so good and the prices are great!!!!

We stopped in for a quick bite and to our surprise the food was horrendous. The rice was burnt. Far less than satisfactory. A wise word, go the extra mile and find a taco bell because that on a bad day would be better than toro viejo. read more

Standard Mexican, pretty good. Some Yelpers say service is slow, we got To Go and service was prompt. I got the shrimp with garlic & mushrooms - Moriscos con ajo. It was good but didn't have much garlic for my taste. Butter is in separate sauce container so you can control the amount. Husband got Mexican stir-fry with chicken and he really liked it. The guacamole was meh. The salsa was very good. read more

May have been the best Mexican Food I've ever ate! Service was extremely friendly and fast!

Did they change owners, or managers or what. We been going to toro video For over 15 years, always had good food, great service, not any more, Food was average at best, some of the worst service, we have gotten anywhere Do not know if we will ever come back read more

I would not give this any stars.Except the drinks were good. I heard it was a good place to eat authentic Mexican food. Instead it was worse than taco bell... the food was fast served but cold and sloppy... I will probably not take my girlfriend or anyone here again.... read more
