This here is a Conga Roll / Mango Hawaii Roll. Delicious and Must get!
Jacob B.

Love the sushi here. My go to is the Conga a d the Hawaii mango. Refreshing and delicious!

New York roll

My sister and I decided last minute to go out to dinner and we landed at Toro Sushi. I actually used Google assistant to call the restaurant for me and reserve a table 15 minutes before our arrival. Toro was half full when we arrived at 7pm on a Saturday but, by 8pm it was full so, our timing was perfect. Everything we ordered was excellent... edamame, tuna avocado salad, Congo roll, New York roll, tuna roll and salmon roll. Service was wonderful. We weren't rushed and food came out quickly. I'm definitely bringing my husband here the next time we visit my sister.

Omakase sushi/sashimi for two
Greg T.

Was contacted by the new owners and asked to give them another try and we were happy we did. Asked to get the omakase and was pleasantly surprised by the innovation, portions and price. We had seven courses of artfully prepared sushi dishes and enjoyed each one of them greatly. The quality of the fish also seems to have improved as the uni was rich, creamy California roe and they had plenty of toro and other rare cuts of fish that were not normally here. We'll certainly be back and continue to get the omakase as long as it is as fantastic as this return experience.

Great. Food is delicious and lunch specials are generous and reasonable. The special rolls are amazing. I had the sashimi lunch and found it fresh, and nicely presented, although the pieces are somewhat on the small side.

Tuna Dumpling
Amelia C.

Unique specialty rolls - particularly liked the Spicy Yellowtail and Raymond. Thought the fish was fresh and the Raymond was flash-fried to perfection. I thought the tuna dumpling didn't live up to its hype - wish it had more tuna! Service could have been more polished and better-timed. Plates were not provided until we requested it, and the servers didn't seem fully trained (checking in, setting the table in advance). Toro has ample parking on site which makes it nice and easy to pick up or dine in.

California Roll
Andrea C.

Horrible horrible horrible. I strongly recommend running away and ordering elsewhere. They are crooks. This restaurant gave me the wrong order. I ordered a lobster roll and they gave me a California roll and on top of that they refused to make my order and charged me for lobster. It's clear from this photo that I do not have a lobster roll instead they placed crab stick inside. The service was appalling- I called to claim and offered to go pick up the correct order and bring mine back. Instead they yelled at me and told me the Uber driver swapped out my sushi.

Wow, what a positive experience here. I stopped in for sushi dinner for my daughters birthday and we were pleasantly welcomed by friendly staff. Everyone including the excellent sushi chefs were very professional and courteous. We had a good time and an great experience and they even had fresh Toro which was excellent. I cannot day enough about the freshness of the fish or the way it was prepared. Thank you Toro Sushi, we will return!

What more could you ask for? Come and visit Toro sushi. The BEST Sushi! Try it to believe. Always Fresh. Yummy to my tummy.

After initial nervousness and cautious optimism it turns out that Toro under new ownership (Toro II with new owner Vicky) is executing the previous and very successful menu. I might even suggest that the food has improved. I can certainly attest to the fact that they are experimenting with new items and slight tweaks and and improvements on some of the existing favorites. Some of tonight's highlights include the tuna dumpling. It's was very flavorful (not fishy) with nice sized chunks of avocado and crispy tempura flake. Tuna tataki is very fresh and savory. Lightly seared with a ponzu sauce, it's a nice treat. The tuna kituna was a new adventure. It was a very refreshing combination of roll with crab stick, tuna and avocado rolled in a cucumber wrap instead of seaweed and rice. It was served in a "spicy" sauce which wasn't altogether terribly spicy.

Sushi for two platter ... Worth the $50 and super fresh

I love temaki! We started with shishito peppers with a smoked honey miso. I was curious to see how they did vegetarian options, so I went with five plant-based temaki. I'm hard-pressed to pick a favorite; each one was so delicious! -- avocado "toast" -- cucumber black sesame -- tofu chimichurri -- sweet potato tempura -- maitake truffle Our waiter was so nice and welcoming. She checked in on us and answered questions that we had about the menu. That kind of genuineness and hospitality always makes the dine-in experience a notch above. I hope to return again soon. The eatery is close to the Welmont, so I made a mental note to remember it next time I'm seeing a concert or show. Nami Nori in Montclair is highly recommended!

We added some of our leftover caviar from the apps and it mixed perfectly!!! Spicy lobster is definitely a must as well! Can't wait to come back for our next date!! Pro tip: theres a parking deck right across the street behind the bike store! You can cross through the lit up alley pretty safely there.

We always looked forward to coming here, and the food never disappointed. The environment was inviting, and you could have privacy in a booth or be front and center at the window and enjoy the view. Those little personal touches are what you remember long after the last meal. We're truly going to miss this place and everyone who made it special. I LOVED my scallop roll and plant to come back here just for that. Aozara is located on Bloomfield Ave right across from the Wellmont. I'll be honest, I go to the Wellmont for shows at least once a month and had never been here before but I plan to come back now that I know the food and service are good. We were able to be seated right away and the person who greeted us was incredibly kind to us. The restaurant is fairly spacious. They have lots of tables and some booths. As we were looking through their very large menu to the side, what to order, the waiter brought an appetizer on the house, which I believe was some kind of tempura fish, which was pretty good! We ordered four rolls and one miso soup. I do have to say that other places give you the miso soup when you order more than one roll, so it was different that we had to order it separately and pay for it separately, but I understand that restaurants are different. We got the Montclair, the Caldwell, the salmon avocado, and their Hawaiian roll. The one that truly stood out to me was the Hawaiian roll, it had kiwi and mango on top which made for a delicious combination and very refreshing. The other three rolls were OK, nothing outstanding. That miso was a bit sweet, which was different for me. At the end of our meal, they gave us orange slices and they were actually delicious! It was a cute surprise and truly showed the vibe of the people who run this place. Overall, the bill came around $50ish which was incredibly cheap for all four rolls and the soup. I definitely would come here again to get the Hawaiian roll and maybe try out some other stuff!

And after sitting there for a while, I understood why. This place is clearly built for takeout and delivery. It looks like a Chinese takeout spot that decided to throw a couple of tables inside and call itself a restaurant. The sushi? Fuggedaboutit. I ordered several rolls, and I swear the portions were so small I thought they forgot half the ingredients. For the prices they charge, the amount of food you get is ridiculous. Everything tasted extremely average and looked cheap. Nothing about this meal made me think, "Yeah, I'm coming back here." At one point I was so disappointed that I just packed the food up and took it home. Meanwhile, the place was full of Uber Eats and DoorDash drivers coming in and out picking up orders. Apparently, THAT is the real restaurant business here. Listen, nobody is asking for Nobu. But if you're going to charge restaurant prices, at least give me restaurant-quality food and portions. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Save your money and go somewhere else. There's plenty of better sushi around. Jersey verdict: Fuhgeddaboudit.
