This review was for the Bed at 10 event. Upon check in to the club, we were warmly greeted by staff and she ushered us in quickly. Even though my ticket wasn't reading, she swiftly looked me up by name and I was in the door. Walking in, this is a narrow venue but it's two stories. The way they used the space maximizes dance floor and ambiance with little trees disbursed, screens showing sports, and visually stimulating and appealing imagines on screens with laser lights dancing to the music. The bartenders were super friendly and had good pour. My friend said the type of liquor she wanted and they made her a different delicious drink every time. The prices are typical bar prices. On the outlying parts of the dance floor are roped off dance tables for VIP Bottle service. I was lucky enough to experience this for a big part of the night when my friend and I made friends with someone at the table and asked us to join them. From what I witnessed, the bartenders and security staff consistently came by to check on the table and ensure a good time. Even when some of the group had spills, they were quick to mop it up so we can continue partying and the water and juice spilled was replenished immediately. Downstairs has its own ambiance and music, which was disappointing since we were at the event for that particular music. Hopefully for an event like this in the future, they can make the sound throughout. The only downside to this club is how packed it gets and where the bathroom is. A lot of time spent when not at a VIP table is moving to accommodate the people walking around who would have to go to the bar or bathroom. It's hard to dance when people are constantly walking through and it's crowded. The bathroom is downstairs and that can be quite a hazard for people who may have imbibed a bit much, but I did see security helping when needed. Toro is one of the places you barely remember after bar hopping with your drunk friends in Gaslamp. It does its job as a lively nightclub, and I can appreciate the separation of hip hop on the first floor and Latin music in the basement. However, the music plays way too loudly and with lazy transitions. I paid a $10 entry fee for 3 deafening hours of DJ Spotify using a 5 second crossfade after the first verse of each song. Even the song selection was subpar; are Soundcloud rappers paying the club owners to play their music? The club played the mandatory artists like Trey Songz, Drake, etc. but about 1 in 4 songs was some rando that most people have never heard of (which was apparent by how little the customers were dancing at those times). Also, not that clubs would ever implement this change because it would make them less money, but this club desperately needs a lower occupancy limit. The basement had zero breathing room for either the restroom or the dance floor when I visited on a Friday night. Ordering a drink at the bar? Good luck. In hindsight, I probably would've enjoyed my night out more if I skipped this establishment entirely and took a breather with the homies at Taco El Gordo. read more

Well poured drinks, contentious staff, excellent (and very attractive!) bartenders and playlist. This fine establishment felt safe, and has cultivated a solid vibe for the crowd. This place is complete trash. I was downtown driving around looking for a parking spot and one of their uniformed security guards ran across the street right in front of me when I had a green light. I almost hit him. Then later, as I was walking past their building, that same security guard was peeing on the side of their building. It seemed clear to me that he was on drugs. I reached out to the business to let them know as I assumed they don't normally allow that kind of conduct from their workers but apparently they do because they completely ignored me. read more

Not much to say. We dropped in here after a Padres game on a Saturday night and only did so because the guy outside was promoting "$5 u-call-its", so we took the bait and popped in. The bartender was nice and she made our drinks pretty strong I'd say. No complaints there. Music was great too. We stayed long enough to use the bathroom which is downstairs and kinda spooky if I'm being honest but yeah this is not a bad spot to wind down (or wind up) after a game. read more

I came here twice with a group of girlfriends. It's plenty warm inside to wear cute enough clubwear without being cold. The upper level is pretty okay, with good music and relatively good vibes. I haven't tried the food, but the drinks were made pretty well. The downstairs is more Mexican music, which is awesome! However, the downstairs is blasted SO loud that I actually will bring earplugs if I go again. Big if. The last time we went, me and one other girl were coming up the stairs and there was a girl following behind us, and vomited on the back of our legs. She looked young, clearly not experienced in her own tolerance. The bouncers rushed us out, and didn't let us back in despite the rest of our party still being in the restroom, splitting us up. I was the DD, plus I don't like to drink, but they said that I was too drunk to come back inside. Not a fan. read more

I don't hit up the Gaslamp often but during football season I head here for the Eagles meetup. ONE STAR: The main floor is nice with a long bar running the entire floor from front to bar. Plenty of seating with palm trees! ONE STAR: The wait staff on Sunday are friendly and attentive. ONE STAR: They have food and it looks fire but haven't ordered anything to date. MINUS ONE STAR: Over $8 for Lagunitas IPA is a bit on the high side for game day. Not really any specials. MINUS ONE STAR (should be Two): The bathrooms are on the bottom floor and I'm not gonna lie, pretty sketchy...not in a filthy way but in a will I be raped or murdered way. ***Warning that this will be a lengthy review*** I'm someone who believes that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. BUT in this case, I feel I must share my experience and possibly help anyone reading this. Point of this story: I was emailed to show up by 11PM but when we got there they gave away our table because we were supposed to be there by 10:30PM. It was incredibly frustrating and there was lack of accountability. Background (receipts attached for proof): I have been planning my sister's bachelorette since January. It was for April 5th that we scheduled to go to TORO for our night out. My sister only wanted one night out and we wanted to go to TORO after having a great first experience there. I booked for the spacious table in the middle of the bar and the dj, by itself in the corner. I requested and confirmed this booking in January. I followed up March 31st, per the request by TORO establishment, confirming the reservation. I was emailed that the person with payment there by 11PM to hand out wrist bands. My sister and our friends showed up by 10:45PM just for them to be rude to my sister and tell her that the table was given away since we were not there by 10:30PM. Making her feel stupid, saying "i don't know who would tell you 11PM, it's always 10:30PM" and left them outside. Then offering a table downstairs. Once I showed up not even 5 minutes later, spoke to the manager, he squeezed us into a small table (see photos). There was a reason I requested the bigger table - because we had a lot of people from out of town coming to celebrate my sister. They then got us to have the table next to us so it can be like we have a "bigger section" but we are no longer all together by that point. What should have happened is they should have taken accountability, told the group they gave our table away to, "hey we made a mistake. This was reserved, we have to move you or you can get refunded." Then proceed to sit us at our reserved table. But instead, they squeezed us into a small table and let the other group take our reservation. I used to work at a club as a bottle girl, I know the work. I know what we can and cannot do. And I would have taken that L to honor reservations that were made. But they basically refused to do that. We tried to make the best of it. We all already were out and dressed up. I am not agreeing to the way this was handled. Poor accountability and poor communication. Whoever handles these emails... be better. To the whole establishment, you guys need to be better at communicating and handling reservations. The manager said to me that he doesn't know or handle the bookings of the tables. But if you're the manager for the night, you honestly should have looked over this before the night started. I don't think I'm ever coming back here again. The only good things were: The manager was nice.... But nice doesn't mean you did your job right. Sorry. My friends kept good energy and helped keep the night alive. read more

Trashy club that stayed absolutely packed! Couldn't hardly move anywhere. You had to push past people to get anywhere. They do have a downstairs and upstairs. It wasn't hard flagging down a bartender since people weren't hanging around the bar. They do have a ton of TVs showing the music videos for the songs they played. Tons of throwback music and they featured a lot of Latin American artists. Love it! Floors got disgustingly sticky at the end of the night. We were there for 30 minutes then they played a song to let everyone know that they wanted everyone to leave. read more

This is a bar that transform into a night club. They pick up all the tables at 9 and pump up the jams. They have one of the best light shows that I have seen in a club, bar none. It is two levels with a full service. bar and dance floor on both levels. The bathrooms are on the bottom level. There is metered street parking and commercial garages/lots within a reasonable walking distance. The dance floor gets packed on weekends and late at night, especially since this is one of the few clubs that do not have a cover charge before 10. They have VIP booths on the dance floor perimeter that are roped off, but it is not excessive like many places that I have been. The crowd was about mid 20s and the dress code was casual. The drinks here are pretty stiff and the staff there was nice enough. They were playing the hottest jams while I was there and the songs' video were playing on the television and video walls behind the stage. The place was jumping and everyone was having a good time. A fight broke out while I was there, but they got it under control and the party kept on jumping. They also serve food up to the early evening which I hear is decent for a bar. This club/bar has a hip vibe, but it is not over the top or a Miami wannabe. I highly recommend checking this place out if you are out on the town in the downtown area. read more

BULLIED AND SEXUALLLY HARASSED BY BARTENDER (1/31/26) Paid $30+ to get inside just go get bullied for my weight in a sexual manner. Friends were deciding on what they wanted to drink and the male bartender with curly hair leans over the wide counter top to flip my "man boobs" get get my attention. I am a heavy-set man and him imitating touching a womans breast was very disrespectful and unacceptable in any circumstance. My friends saw what he did and the whole atmosphere changed. I was upset and the bartender proceeded to say "why you so serious" oblivious to what he had just done moments before. I brushed it off and returned later for an apology man to man told him i didnt appreciate him embarassing me and making me feel uncomfortable. He then denies even doing what he did and ignored me when i asked for a manager. Young female bartender approached and asked what had happened and i explained the situation asking for a manager and proceeds to offer me a drink i declined and asked for a manager. Took some asking to do but one eventually came. Manager came a man with a buzz cut and beard and was very hostile towards me asking what happened. I then explain again what happened very embarrassing to have to explain again, he then walks to bartender who touched me and comes back and says he was "getting" my attention to get my order in a way justifying his actions and downplaying what had occured not once offering an apology only drinks to "make things better" as he said. I declined the offer. I HAD TO ASK FOR AN APOLOGY. The apology i received was super half-hearted and very disingenuous. Bartender was heavily intoxicated slurring his words and blinking alot. Manager comes and asked "all better?" I was still visibly upset because of the bad apology i had received and manager shouts " what else do you want?" " are we good?" While looking very annoyed. I had no choice but to walk away. Felt like talking to high schoolers. I felt super humiliated. If gender roles were reversed and i was a female this whole situation would be different. My boyfriend and I came here visiting from LA on a Thursday night when they were advertising $5 drinks. The place was practically empty, yet they refused to let him in because of his "sweats," even though they weren't even cotton material. Inside, plenty of people were dressed down in similar or more casual attire. We go out often in LA and have never had an issue like this. It felt targeted, especially since we were the only Black customers trying to get in while everyone else allowed inside was Hispanic/white. This place offers some great tacos, and as of now, they are the best being offered anywhere on 5th ave down at the Gaslamp Quarter. The place is also a video bar and eventually a dance bar after Covid-19, but the real hot ticket here is the tacos they make. They will not disappoint. I had several tacos: a pair of Quesa Tacos with skirt steak and chorizo on corn, a carne asada taco on corn, and "el taco Epecial" on flour. All were met with a resounding approval. First the Quesa Tacos. A taco can not be great without a great vessel. The house made corn tortillas here are outstanding. I'm certain that my grandmother from old world Mexico would of approved. She made corn tortillas for a living back in the day, and these were not just as good, but even better. There thickness was keen, which not only allowed for great texture but flavor as well. The yellow corn used here was of high quality. In fact, all the ingredients are meticulous approved for high standards. The Quesa Tacos were bliss. The tender skirt steak and tasty chorizo were expertly wrapped in the golden brown griddled cheese. As a result, the tacos were a party in the mouth. They were a wonder textural experience with terrific flavors to boot. These are a winner. The Taco "Especial" was a skirt steak taco served up with a meat gravy served with a slice of avocado and a drizzle of a house made crema served on another outstanding tortilla: their house made flour tortilla. The taco was old school and similar to what my mother use to make when I was young, but elevated to a modern ere. The meat gravy was mouthwatering, hence the appropriate name Taco "Especia" because it is something special. If you are looking for traditional, the carne asada taco will fit your needs. It came with a healthy serving of quality "arrachera," also known as skirt steak that was not only full of flavor but tender and juicy. The taco came also came with your chopped onions and cilantro, a nice dollop of hand made guacamole, and some flavorful house made salsa. Great taco indeed. Yes, this place is bar, yes it's a video bar where you can watch beautiful ladies shake there business, and yes it will eventually be a late night club, but the real bang here is there tacos. Service was friendly, upbeat, and quite fun to be honest. You will love the tortillas...Eat Tacos! They make life better.... read more

Theft concern. I was pit pocket last night at Toro and it was my first experience being there. I was so packed a perfect place for a thief to take advantage of people. Thief pick pocket in Downtown San Diego‼‼‼PSA‼‼‼ Last night I went to a club/bar called Toro and these two girls tried to pocket me for my phone. They grabbed my phone out of my bag and I yelled "wait". I basically screamed. I was ready to follow them and tell them they weren't going anywhere until they gave me my phone. This happened so fast and i didnt feel it being grabbed, but I felt the weight of my phone disappearing from my bag and then these two suspicious girls I felt the vibe totally off and I knew what was done to me so the one of the girls threw my phone back at me to the floor and then Security went up to me later and it was so packed I don't know how they would even see this. Security went up to me only and told me that there's this girl going around, trying to steal peoples phones, and if I can identify her, which I thought was really odd because Security didn't see this happen and it was in a tight space and we didn't tell anybody what happened so I feel like maybe Security I feel like did not handle this right or review footage.. please people aware that they need to be aware of their surroundings while out in public anywhere as well as to keep your bag closed, that was my mistake. I had my bag open as I kept locking it and unlocking it and my phone was very expensive and I can't afford to get another phone so I thought that this would be Possibly helpful to share that there are bad people out. We decided to randomly stop by here as my friends and brothers were taking a walk down Gaslamp. Have to stay this place definitely gets poppin even on a Thursday night. Just imagine on Friday and Saturdays. There was a good amount of crowd inside and no cover fee. They play majority latin music and on a Thursday night it was packed. Apparently you cannot sit in the back tables which was a downfall so if you're with a group hopefully theres wooden tables available in the middle. Luckily we were able to have our bucket of beers at a table in which a couple were at and were completely fine with. Drinks are typical prices. We purchased a bucket of 6 beers for $45. Didn't stay for long but this place is for sure a go to. read more

Came here this past weekend and on our way in security was checking our ID's and bags, when mid-walk into the club my sister was pulled by the hood of her sweater by one of the security guards!!! The short overweight security guard needs to be removed! Highly encourage the club owner to review footage from 01/19/2025 at 1:20AM to confirm the ID of this security guard. My friends and I stopped by here to basically sit down to wait until our dinner reservations. After they checked out ID at the door, they took us to a table inside. A waitress came and took our drinks order. I just got a water but one of my friend got the Adios MF drink. Our waitress was nice and very helpful on answering our questions about the drink. We also got French fries to snack on as well. Within like an hour, people started to pour into the place and it started to become a nightclub. They had a note on the table that after 9pm, all tables will be removed and the place becomes a nightclub. The fries took a while to come out and it was just alright. Supeeerrrr packed $10 cover was a waste, not worth it lol It was chill, helllaaa hot, I don't be going downtown a lot and the vibe was crazy. It's not like people were like super hammered of weird. My boyfriend and I went here on a Friday night. There was a cover charge of 10 dollars per person. The music was eclectic. There's an up stairs and a down stairs each with their own bar and dance floor. The thing I didn't like was The bathroom is downstairs down 2 flights of stairs. The bar tender we had was amazing she she made the best tequila sunrises, was super attentive, I wish I got her name to give her more credit.
