I stopped by on a Wednesday evening. They had a DJ, and entry was five dollars if you arrived after 10 PM. The place wasn't too crowded, maybe a couple dozen people. There's a good mix of booths, high tops, and bar seating. The bartenders were very attentive. I never had to flag anyone down or wait long for a drink, which was a nice surprise. The music leaned more toward general dance music. I'm more of a house music girl so it wasn't exactly my style, but the crowd was extremely friendly and the energy was good. The dance floor stayed pretty active. Overall, they have a solid liquor selection, a fun crowd, and great service. The one downside was that it was completely freezing inside, even with a jacket on. I think this is an alright place. Came here a couple of time. One time on a Saturday night to dance. It's pretty packed. Because the dance floor is so limited you'll definitely be bumped and have your drink spilled. It also gets quite hot inside with all the body heat. On a quieter night like Monday night when I visited for some drinks and laughter, it's much more tame and the drinks taste a whole lot better since there's no rush to make them. Spent about a hour here the most recent time. Just enough for a drink. Only two staff were on site and both seemed chill. They also had a DJ come in and spin tunes and that was super good. I have some serious history with this place, well, the building at least. I still think when I walk through the front door that I'm going to see a claw machine and a classic dive bar with bands playing. Those were the days (Scolari's Office) that I was both a customer and a drummer in a band that frequented this location. Fast forward... 2025. I should say that I've been here dozens of times since it's been "The Office" and it's a great bar. Sure, it's cleaned up a ton since the olden days but nobody is going to complain about that. This is a great place that feels almost like a mini club and a nice little break form the North Park bulls#it. Dip into the front doors here and you'll be able to get yourself a nicely made cocktail crafted by a friendly bartender that knows what they're doing and actually give a s#it about making it. I don't really go out much anymore, but went out for a friends birthday and I always know the Office will be fun and definitely will have music and dancing. And of course, it proved me right again. I came in late night with a buddy of mine, It was both our first time so I did not know what to expect. The security guard outside was chill and nice and when he opened the door, it was dark which threw me off guard. We went in and our bartender was Mike. I will say that Mike is the reason I would come back to this place. Since my buddy and I are still figuring out what type of drinks we like, we would constantly ask Mike for advice and tips on drinks. Even thought he was slammed with orders, he would still give us the time to answer our questions/tips. For that, I give it 5 stars! Went to the office with my husband and some friends. My husband was wearing a padres jersey and they won last night. Bouncer at the door told us at first to change his jersey or place inside out to which we thought was a joke. Then asked us again to place inside out or take it off and place in our purses. Our purses were small and we were confused. My husband put his jersey inside out. When going to check out ids bouncer told us to take it off and place with him. And we decided to leave and we said no. He said "get out then have a nice day" very rude. The other bouncer was even confused. Went next door to coin ops and they were super nice and funny! I approached the bar, asked if he could make me a whisky espresso martini, he said YES, and I was excited. It calked for some Baileys which I'm kinda lactose so I was hesitant. Review for Sunday, Reggae/Dancehall/Afrobeats The music is crackin' like fly-away dynamite. The DJ knows his craft. He seamlessly transitions, scratches and matches the music bass vibe. I particularly like that he plays the song long enough prior to the shift. The music genre is reggae, Afrobeats & dancehall. So the original Peter tosh would be overlay with dancehall not the original Peter tosh where you are chilling around the fire smoking a blunt. Drinks could be more liquorish. I drink shots and that was kinda short. Both times. With pre-tip for the next anticipatory order. And still, stingy. Cover is $5.00. I like that seating booths didn't require a reservation or falsified VIP persona. Each booth can seat up to 6. There are a few tables and bar seats. First come. The venue is small and so is the dancefloor but it's cool. After a certain age who is trying to hippity hop, jodance or joop across all the space. The dance floor is also all the way in the back and very small. This was the first bar I've been to since turning 21. The bartender that night was very nice. Went here last night after having been to this bar and having positive experiences prior. However this night's experience was different . I was wearing a padres jersey under my Jacket and security let me and friends through no issues. I even had to pay a $5 cover with no problem. But then after I paid the cover I walked into the bar and I was stopped by a security guard to be notified that wearing a padres jersey was not allowed and I had to cover it up. This left me very confused as other costumers had padres gear and even sdfc jerseys inside the bar but yet no warning for them. I made sure to comply and zip up the jacket to cover the jersey. As I was trying to enjoy my night the security guard kept harrasing me about my jersey and even stopped to google the padres city connect jersey and let me know that he thought it was ugly seemingly to provoke me. It was incredibly frustrating that the security guard was more concerned with his own personal opinions on a sports jersey than the actual safety and well being of the establishment and I felt that I was constantly targeted and harrased because of something so trivial when other customers were doing the same but never got told to cover up. I understand that some places have dress codes but it would be much appreciated if security could let me know I was not following it before I entered the bar and paid for a cover charge. I would also like that they also be consistent in enforcing it when many people were either wearing padres gear or San Diego FC jerseys in the bar but never got stopped by security . This experience was uncomfortable as I felt unfairly targeted by security staff for what seemed to be their own petty personal opinion rather than focusing on doing his job to ensure people were safe. There is cover and we said why not, however not at all the vibe we were looking for! Came here randomly while bar hopping throughout north park. It looked like fun from the outside so we gave it a shot. Bouncer at the front was not very friendly. We then paid $10 each for cover. Dance floor is all the way in the back and very tiny. The music is reggae/hip-hop so no songs that we knew and challenging to dance to. We tried to request some pop/mainstream songs but the DJ said "no. I need something people can dance to" lol. Came here on St. Patrick's Day to celebrate a friend's birthday. I like the ease of getting in and out of it. Reminds me of the WhistleStop, if you've ever been. The crowd is similar. It is a small bar that plays cool music and is well organized. It is laid back and the drinks aren't overpriced. I like the office theme as well as the names of all their drinks. My favorite is the Gordon Gekko. There are a few TVs but they play random shows and movies. The only problem I have with the place is the floors are so damn sticky! Don't plan on coming in with expensive shoes, or open toed shoes, unless you plan on getting them dirty. Parking is easy, I actually pulled up and parked in front. I really like this place but take note, I always go a little earlier in the evening before the DJ/dancing gets started. Maybe it's because of the time of night I go (around 7 or 8pm), but I've never had an issue with the bouncers, bartenders, cover charge, etc. that most of the other reviews are complaining about. I've always been treated well and I love their cocktails! My favorite is The Executive but I enjoy all of their specialities. Chris the bartender is a standout, I always try to go on the nights he's working because he's super cool, friendly and makes killer cocktails.
