While branded as an ACE store--nothing against ACE, I've found them in various locations, including Madison, CT, to be consistently excellent--Ridgefield Hardware has the look and feel of a true, old-fashioned, independently run store. The staff are all very nice and very knowledgeable. While I use Ring's End for bigger projects, when I'm looking for something specific and cannot find it at Ring's End, I more often than not find that Ridgefield Hardware has what I need. If you don't see what you want quickly, just ask. The great team behind the cash registers at the front will ask when you come in if they can help. Don't be shy--tell them what you are looking for--unless you are just browsing or know exactly where the items you need are located. It will save you time and they'll alert someone to help you. I almost never post on-line reviews, but Ridgefield Hardware is fantastic and they deserve acknowledgement. DM from South Salem, NY

The store itself is like a Mom & Pop shop from the 1970's but what a variety they have. The guys working in there are very nice too. Standouts were Jason and the guy that cut the Plexiglass for me Chris. I was quoted a price of $11.99 on the phone and was only charged $6 dollars. Very happy!!!!!! A+++++++++++++++++ all the way. The two guys that helped me deserve employee of the month and a bonus. You won't find better help out there in the hardware world.

Our first visit was lackluster and the older gentleman who checked us out was not friendly or helpful. The last two times were with a kind lady, her name might be Heidi. She really went out of her way to help us and we observed her simultaneously assisting others with ease. She remembered we had recently moved to Trumbull and were making positive changes to our home like paint, cleaning, etc., and recommended several items. We really enjoy this hardware store and the assistance offered for your projects. Sorry, no pictures on this one.

To make matters worse, they had zero interest in rectifying their poor job. Stay away from these guys!

I can't think of a time I've visited when I wasn't approached by a salesperson offering help. The store is well stocked and immaculate, and they can even do repairs on some household items. In fact, I brought something in for repair last week and received a call just a few hours later that it was ready for pickup. And this kind of turnaround was on a Sunday! Prices are reasonable, and certainly reasonable enough to keep me out of Home Depot or Lowe's. Weed & Duryea saves me the trek and the annoyance.
