I ordered the steak and chicken combo, and I'm pretty sure they didn't bring it out on a plate--they brought it out on a tectonic plate. The sizzle was so loud I had to use hand signals to communicate with my date for the first three minutes. I felt like a celebrity entering a press conference, except instead of camera flashes, I was being blinded by delicious, onion-scented steam. ​The fajitas are phenomenal. The meat was so tender I'm convinced the chef sings it lullabies before it hits the grill. ​The Margarita Situation ​Then, let's talk about the Margaritas. I don't know what kind of structural engineering goes into these things, but they absolutely rock. ​Size: Somewhere between "Large" and "Fishbowl." ​Potency: One sip and I forgot my middle name; two sips and I was ready to audition for a Mariachi band. ​Taste: Perfectly balanced. Not that neon-green syrup you find at the grocery store, but the real deal. ​The Verdict ​By the time I finished, I was 40% salsa and 60% fajita by body weight. If you see someone rolling down Lincoln Street like a human burrito later tonight, mind your business--that's just me living my best life. ​Pro Tip: Wear your "eating pants" (the ones with the elastic waistband). The restaurant wasn't very fully and service was extremely slow. We were brought our chips and salsa pretty quickly but our server didn't come to get our drink order for quite some time. It was also really cold in the dining area, very unfortunate. Made it hard to enjoy the meal. Food was good but the waiter didn't bring the meal as ordered. Had clearly asked for a side of beans, instead half my rice was omitted and I was given beans to replace it. Thankfully we weren't charged for it. Had the green enchiladas which were very good, after I picked off the insane amount of onions on the top. My husband had the Colorado burrito which he really liked. The food is inconsistent, but tends to be quite good. However... the restaurant is *painfully* loud. I can deal with the mariachi band because they come and go. But if they play music from the speakers it's soo loud that it hurts. read more

It's kind of funny that Yelp has an option to make a reservation since there were only three occupied tables in the restaurant at 7:00 PM. We started with the queso. It was decently good, not the best I've had, but enjoyable. I had the create-your-own plate with a beef taco and chicken enchilada. Both were good, but not very seasoned. My friend had the fajitas and said they were flavorful, but the restaurant was a bit stingy with the cheese. Big plus for having charro beans! We finished with the fried ice cream. It was good, but not particularly decadent. Service was not so great. Since the restaurant was practically empty, I expected more attention. I ordered a third item for my combination plate, but I never received it, and no one followed up quickly to correct the mistake. We also ran out of chips and salsa while eating our queso and didn't get refills until our food arrived. I would have given four stars for the food, but the service brought it down. Not sure this restaurant will ever make five stars for me. read more

Unbelievable service. Our waiter went above and beyond to make sure we were completely satisfied. The best chimichangas I've had by far. After working a very long weekend, my husband and I decided to stop in at Texas Longhorn, but they were too busy. So,we tried your restaurant. The food was great, the drinks were awesome and the waiter was quick and efficient. We paid the bill and we always leave cash, which was on the table; $20.00 of a $94.00 Bill. We we're finishing our margaritas and a staff member came to our table and said "you didn't tip on a" then she opened the check holder and showed us the bill. She then asked if there was something wrong with the service. Confused, as this has never happened to me, I showed her the cash, which she grabbed from my hand. Said she was sorry and walked away. We we're so taken aback, we we were shocked. I told her as I was giving her the tip that I am in food service and I would never do that. As we walked out I told them all who was sitting at the host counter that it was "not cool". As a manager of hotel and restaurant, I would like to know how one has the nerve to walk up to our table. We have been to Torito twice in the last month, once for my birthday and again for father's day. Food was delicious, service was great, and portions were large (my wife and I each got at least two meals out of our entrees). They even had a live mariachi band. My wife's family is Hispanic, and they say the food is as good as the best they had back in Texas. High praise indeed! read more

Not sure how long this store has been operating. Visited in February 2023, on a Monday evening, for dinner. Appetizer was complimentary corn chips and salsa and refried beans. My entree (pasting from the current website menu, March 2023): "CANTINA DEL RIO ENCHILADAS Five fresh corn tortillas filled with marinated grilled chicken. Topped with a blend of creamy cheese, green tomatillo sauce, sour cream, green onions, and tomatoes". Nicely plated, not overcooked, not heavily seasoned. Almost consider it to be "we also make this" dish. Good, but not newsworthy. I will return, because their menu is IMMENSE. read more

We did some takeout - carnitas tacos (11/10) that were just out of the world, and a chicken + shrimp fajita plate (7/10). The chicken was a bit dry and the shrimp were kinda greasy. Steak fajitas are my favorite, perfectly cooked and tender with the nicely charred veggies on the bottom. The chimichanga was pretty good, a lot of the side fillers (rice and beans). As an individual who is from Southern California, moving to the North East for work has left me a little home sick, especially for good home cooking, or in this case, outstanding Mexican food. After trying several spots in the area with varying degrees of disappointment, I was hesitant to try this place. Luckily my partner convinced me to give it a shot and we both were brought back home. He is from Latin America and hearing music he knows upon entering was incredible. The staff immediately sang along with him. We were greeted promptly with chips, salsa, and beans! It was delicious and fresh. Our guacamole came with the option of cilantro which is major brownie points since it's hard to find on the "authentic" meals else where. Our entrees, a carne asada & chicken fajitas were fantastic! But what stood out the most for me was the attention to detail. Not just in the service, but the pride taken in the food that was being served. We spoke with someone about how fresh the guacamole was and it turned out the individual is the one who made it. Good food & drinks are one thing but taking pride in your work is also key. Definitely will be going back, especially on the days where we feel homesick. Thank you! read more

If you are coming here expecting authentic Mexican then you are going to be disappointed. However, this is pretty good for what it is - TexMex. It's better than Mezcal and l just as good as Mexicali to give you an idea on other similar local joints. They have a guacamole station where they make it fresh. They start by giving some bean dip and salsa with chips to start. I'm not a fan of beans so I can't tell you how it was. The salsa and chips were tasty. We got chili con queso and I probably should have read it but it did not have any chili in it. But it was still good. The margaritas are decent. My chicken fajitas were good too. I'd definitely go back there again since it's down the street from me and it was decent. However, I prefer El Patron over this place since it is authentic and amazingly delicious. read more

Really enjoyed this place. They bring you fresh hot tortilla chips and a homemade salsa immediately. I had a huge delicious burrito that could easily be 2 meals. Giant drinks. The waitstaff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Looking forward to coming back soon. read more

Torito's is the definition of hit or miss. Food quality is very inconsistent, and compared to when it opened a few years ago, has steadily went down hill while prices have increased. Food, regardless of quality, does come out quickly and the establishment is clean. Atmosphere is also fun, plus a mariachi band on certain days. Service is usually fine, with the exception of Victor. Not welcoming and consistently rude to females, noted on multiple occasions. This is significant because he appears part of the leadership team. Additionally, I would advise visitors to be vigilant when paying with cash as I have experienced issues with receiving incorrect change. Unfortunately, my last experience was one of my worst in any restaurant. Overall, not recommended. read more
