While charging my car last night, I decided to grab a bite to eat at Torchy's Tacos. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how clean both the restaurant and bar areas were. One thing I really dislike is when restaurants make customers use a kiosk to place their orders. They did have one employee working the counter, but she was busy, so the kiosk was the only practical option. After placing our order, our appetizer--the Threesome--arrived. It came with queso, guacamole, and salsa. The chips were light and airy, reminding me a bit of Chili's chips. They were excellent. The queso was especially good; we scraped the bowl clean. I ended up using the remaining guacamole and salsa on my tacos. Feeling adventurous, I ordered the Baja Grilled Chicken taco and the Baja Shrimp taco, both on flour tortillas. Both tacos were flavorful and satisfying. In fact, they were so good that I wish I had ordered a third taco. The food came out at a steady pace, and the service timing felt just right. Had to throw the guac out because it tasted old. I got a bowl and it came with the tiniest amount of meat. Just not good food.

The bartender was awesome and made a great margarita. It was probably slightly too strong for lunch, but that's OK. I had the breakfast burrito the scrambled eggs in it were really good and the salsa were delicious. I did not love the potatoes in it though my friend had the fried avocado tacos. So this visit I tried the steak burrito. Well have to say i wasn't a fan. I'll stick to tacos in the future. I did go during their Hooky hour and prices were reasonable on their Hooky hour menu. First time trying Torchy's, guess it's a chain, it was ok, not good nor great. Might need to be inebriated to confuse it as good food. Also find the menu disappointing. Excellent experience at this Torchy's on a Friday lunch hour. The staff were friendly and patient as we tried to communicate the orders of 6 people including 3 kids and one adult who had very specific dietary restrictions. My youngest one ate the fresh avocado slice off of my taco, so I ordered two tacos, both with extra avocados. We ended up with the equivalent of one avocado, which is pretty good considering that it's really more of a topping than a side dish on their menu. read more

Torchy's has become my go-to when I need a quick taco and margarita fix! I've pretty much worked my way through all the tacos, and I really enjoyed all of them. For a fast casual restaurant, they also make pretty gosh darn good margaritas. Their queso is consistently good as well. They have a good happy hour, and don't skip looking at the "secret" menu. Service is always friendly and patient, because sometimes it's just hard to choose what you want lol! read more

Within the taco-loving community, Torchy's isn't always chosen as a favorite, but I have to admit that I do genuinely enjoy their offerings. You just have to know which tacos to get! My personal favorites are the Baja shrimp tacos and the Democrat, which features barbacoa, avocado, and Cojita cheese. Every time I've tried it, the beef has been wonderfully tender and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, while the Cojita and avocado lend a delightful richness. The portion sizes are also impressive; while I could usually devour five tacos, I find that two or three from Torchy's are more than enough, given their generous size. Great food if the staff can get your order right! We had a horrible experience there and didn't get what we ordered and paid for. Horrible customer service from management and very little concern or care about catering to allergies because the staff seems to have no knowledge on menu item ingredients. The manager, Daniella and most staff except for one food runner seemed to have a language barrier at the Lowry location . Daniella was extremely RUDE and disrespectful!..Daniella would benefit from management training and should learn menu item ingredients. so we went to this place a month ago northfield we've been there in the past. This was the worst. We ordered food and didn't receive nothing .. until 30 minutes after it was ordered... the waiter noticed that order dided go through ..the manager He was not really polite, but said he couldn't give us a refund that it would take 3 to 4 days to get a refund. my wife and I was like wow!! .. so we kept the receipt and waited for a refund a week and a half later. Came in to this location for the first time. Plenty of parking available in the back. Multiple additional food options and a friendly Target as well. We were greeted and helped by Mily. She did an excellent job of helping us. We ordered four tacos, hillbilly queso / chips, and drinks. We got flour tortillas on all of our tacos. The ambiance inside and on the patio was nice and clean. We enjoyed our meals very much. The patio had a fire place going. We will be coming back for more in the future. We ordered the trailer park, a burrito, the Mr Orange and fried avocado taco, and two Republicans. Food was prepared perfectly and we ate it up too fast to take a picture. Plus, get this: THE BARTENDER KNOWS HIS STUFF! The regular house margarita with salt on the rocks is straight up legit and total perfection! Not all sugar like some places serve. Stop in and get a taco or two and get a drink from the bar! You can pay for it all at once so it's really easy. And they have a few unique cocktails on the menu as well but the classic house marg is my new fave. read more

Torchys is an unexpected gem. This location is a great place that is fun to eat in with service that is always friendly. The food is hands down some of the best Mexican/fast Mexican food I have had. We enjoy the guacamole, queso and haven't had a taco yet we didn't enjoy. The flavors they bring in all their dishes is really exceptional. The prices are pretty good too. Ever since we were teased with the "Coming Soon" banner on Quebec next to Target Torchy's has been the object of much discussion in my familia. Would we continue to go to the one on Broadway after ballet practice? would we never visit the Northfield location where we'd spent countless evenings getting queso all over our faces? The tacos are as they say, "damn good". Everyone has his or her own favorites so I won't go too far into any particular one. Plus, it's easy to order different kinds since they will group your order by basket. This location has a big central bar with lots of TVs showing the sports of the day and lots of local brews on tap. It's a very nice addition to the neighborhood and really rounds out the offerings within just a few blocks. read more
