I miss Torchy's from when I lived in Texas, so took my husband here while we had access to one in Denver! The menu has changed a little but still a lot of tasty options. I got the taco of the month, Muy Thai, with Thai inspired flavors of peanut and peppers; the bell peppers just needed to be cut in smaller pieces, not long strings, or they pull out when you bite them. I also got the Baja shrimp taco, which was tasty, and the street corn, which was elevated by the sweet roasted corn. My husband got the Wrangler, which was ok (he said the egg wasn't very good) and the loaded tater tots, which he proclaimed delicious. Sadly, I could not replace my old Torchy's tshirt from Texas; they are supposedly between vendors and had none! read more

After walking and visiting the Denver Public Library today, I remembered Torchy's has happy hour called Hooky Hour. It runs weekdays from 2-5pm. The sidewalk sign enticed me in. Their Hooky Hour nachos are 1/2 regular size for $8.99 and a $2 upcharge for protein. I got grilled chicken. I added a green chile pork soft taco and a small Coors in a 12oz glass container. Beers and margaritas are half off during Hooky Hour. You order at the counter with a person or at a counter kiosk. The full bar has service. My order came out promptly. Devin took my order and handed me my Coors after I.D. check. The nachos had a good amount of queso, tomatoes, sour cream and guacamole. The Coors was the full strength Banquet version. read more

Solid experience. I came in the morning for the breakfast burrito which I personally found too much egg to other fillings. Came back next evening for a steak taco and chips & queso. Employees are great, wish they had some. The self serve kiosk was horribly designed. Our orders came out incorrectly and we had to wait for someone to leave the kitchen to ask for help. Half the tables were dirty, which id blame on bad staff except we saw 4 employees for the entire location. Seems like the company is trending in the wrong direction. We had amazing luck when we came here because there was no line when we walked in then 8 people were behind us all of a sudden. We arrived for lunch around 12:30 and there was eight people in front of us and the dining room was fairly busy. We ordered Chips and queso, democrat, green chili pork and chicken fajita tacos. The chips and queso came out right away and the tacos followed about 10 minutes later. The chips were crispy and warm with a light hint of salt and the queso had chorizo and cojita cheese; it was warm and delicious. The meat in the tacos were like warm at best and very greasy; other than that the flavors were good. Lots of seating inside and a full service bar. Hey Everyone! There's a parking lot! hahaha! No more parking on Broadway at least for Torchy's. We met a friend here for dinner the other night and everything was great. Staff is so down to earth and the manager there also matched the upbeat mood. We ordered queso and guac. Yes to both! I grabbed a salad with steak. Not too big a fan of mint in my entree but it wasn't overpowering so that's a plus. The champagne vinaigrette hit a new tone for me. No idea why. Even the street corn with a splash of lime was a hit. I was positioned where I could catch the CU/Baylor homecoming game last night and the Buffs came out on top in OT! The atmosphere is great and feels inviting. Upbeat and hip vibe here with lots of beverage choices. I really love the Tractor Beverage Co selections of alternative drinks with unique flavors. I tried a few of these and love them. I had the Trailer Park Tacos, one with fried avocado and the other with Tipsy Chicken. The Trailer Park tacos seems to be their top item and are very yummy. It's a great one to try if you're only here once and want to see what the fuss is about. My daughter had a single Trailer Park Taco and we shared an order of chips and salsa. I just moved into the area, so my friends happily brought me to Torchy's Tacos for lunch. Upon arriving, the restaurant was lightly occupied, which was a good thing since it gave me time to be mesmerized by the menu. There are so many options here, and with each taco being smallish in size, you can mix and match the different tacos you want to try. This was just what I needed. Denver's restaurants apparently close early, so I happened upon Torchy's after leaving a show on a mission for food. I had the "trailer park taco", a green chile pork taco, queso, and a spiked cherry limeade with Tito's. The flavors of everything were impeccable -- I especially loved the subtle heat on the green chile pork. Would I get the trailer park taco again, though...? Unsure -- it tasted good, but with the countless other options here, I think this is the kind of situation where fortune favors the bold. The queso was killer: salty, creamy, spicy. I would definitely order this again. It paired really well with the Tito's Cherry Limeade which balanced the savory notes of the queso with crisp, refreshing, and semi-sweet vibes. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is I felt like the food, while it tasted great, wasn't exactly hot when it came out. The queso, for example, was served in a skillet, but it wasn't piping like I expected. There were also a lot of missing menu items, but I attribute that to it being Pride weekend and this restaurant was on Broadway which was spitting distance from the festivities. It also took about 20 minutes from the time I walked in to the time I finally was able to place my order. They might have needed an extra person taking orders tonight; I admittedly walked in about an hour before closing. Okay so it's important to note that we hail from a UNESCO World City of Gastronomy firmly anchored on Mexican food. We literally have a world famous "Top Chef" run taco restaurant. So when we review Torchy's positively it's because it hits the two most important things that would drive us to even try Tacos in Denver; it's tasty and most importantly it is unique. We tried the taco of the month--something worth checking back in periodically if you aren't in Denver on vacation like we were. It was really delicious and I double Diablo sauced mine. Note that it's pretty spicy! we also tried the Democrat which was delicious and I also slathered it with Diablo sauce. We like it so much we went back twice which also meant two orders of the Fried Avocado tacos and the MoFaux vegan "boef" taco. The first was delicious and creamy and went well with the included poblano sauce but also with that darn Diablo sauce! The latter really blasted that stewed umami that is lacking in most vegetarian tacos and was delicious with tomatillo, poblano, and--yes--Diablo. We also tried the vegetarian queso dip--delicious and hard to find without meat. Also the street corn was taken for a test drive and it was also delicious, covered with spices and cotija cheese. Staff was friendly and helpful. They did a good job of removing cilantro which I can't stand. Plenty of seating: comfortable and clean. We didn't plan to come twice but we couldn't help ourselves. We will likely return to Denver in the future and Torchy's will be in our list when we do. read more

So, I usually absolutely adore Torchy's, but I do feel like this location is overdue for a revamp in many areas. The food quality has been inconsistent, but for this particular visit... I went craving the democrat taco and I decided to try it with a flour tortilla this time around. Well, the meat was so dry it actually sucked the moisture out of my mouth. Plus, the tortilla was really tough/hard. I usually love this taco with my whole soul, but this time around it really wasn't good. I'm rating this location right down the middle for lack of inconsistency and half of my meal being a bit sad. I also usually adore the hillbilly queso, but this round there was no spice to the chorizo. Also, not sure if the corn tortillas are also a new recipe, because they had no toast to the tortilla itself either. Just floppy. Okay, those points aside, I did try the Baja shrimp taco and that was flavorful and overall my favorite item I tried (minus the tortilla). My friend treated me to dinner and wanted tacos. Parking lot is not large but at that time on a weekday we easily found parking. I went with the Baja shrimp taco.
