Two regular dinners and one wet burrito.

We have been coming to Manuel's for 40 plus years. Still pretty much the same but noticed a change in that they are topping the tamale with green Chile instead of the chili con carne. We are always torn on what to order but always include either a wet burrito or just a side of the green. If you are a regular you probably go every January to get a new calendar. We do!

This is a great little Mexican Restaurant that has historic ties to the Denver community. They have been around for 51 years, which is truly impressive for any restaurant in the area. It's unfortunate that they were forced to move away from the ballpark area due to development. Now they are in a not as high traffic area, making most of their customer base regulars. I would have to say you should most definitely go with the house specialty, the wet green chili burrito. I don't think they do there other stuff as well and think going with this will make you the most happy. For example, my boyfriend got a dinner plate that had a taco and thing was dripping with grease and he couldn't eat it. Moving on, the wet green chili burrito is pretty great. The green chili doesn't have any flour added to give a thicker consistency, this is why it's seems watery but is really good. In the green chili are yummy chunks of pork shoulder. I like the burrito with shredded beef, beans, and cheese. The shredded beef is of good quality and pretty tasty. My only complaint is that I wish there was more heat in the dish. I am, a spice fiend, so there you go. Regardless, I ate my whole burrito and thought it was pretty darn good.

I love Five Points. I love the history. I love the soul. I love the charisma. I love the food. I don't love being one of the gentrifying, twenty-something white kids sucking the life out the neighborhood. Now that I've gotten that out of the way... This place has history, this place has soul, and this place has pork shoulder. The wet green chili burrito is served in a bowl, absolutely inundated with a very thin green chili. The green chili isn't very spicy, and it would do well to combat the thinness with a little more bite. The chunks of pork shoulder in the green chili are divine. Hearty chunks of slow-cooked, succulent, heavenly pork. The burrito was an afterthought compared to the pork in the green chili. The cheese was quasi melted, the shredded lettuce browned and wilting, and the beef was bland. But the pork shoulder. That fucking pork shoulder. This burrito didn't change my life, but it's a hearty meal, and the pork in the green chili sets it a notch above. And, the most expensive burrito on the menu won't set you back for more than $6. Toss in the history, the haggard contingent of regulars, and the very sweet, very cute girl running around doing everything, and you get a good experience that whispers of a time and a place that are quickly fading out of this city.

Probably the best wet burrito I have ever had, but the place is kinda dumpy and outdated. Regardless, food is priced well and tastes great.

The food was delicious! We got $2 chips and salsa off the happy hour menu and the queso con soyrizo (not on HH menu) which was served with warm tortillas. Honestly we probably didn't need all that because the tacos were so good I could've just filled up on more of the tacos, but still was a great meal! I ordered the lengua, pastor, and taco special (breaded shrimp). They were all so good. Think taco quality of a good street taco spot but with the ambiance of a cute tex mex bar. The bartender was great and made a solid marg ($8 on happy hour). You get a great deal on taco Tuesday but I'm sure you'd get great service and quality any day of the week!

I grabbed a seat at the bar where the bartender was friendly and engaging. On a recent Wednesday at 7:15, the restaurant was packed. When I left around 8:30, it was still busy. That's usually the best review a restaurant can get. Loyal customers don't keep coming back out of habit. They come back because it feels like home. The all-day happy hour margarita for $9 certainly doesn't hurt. The second one arrives before you've had time to argue yourself out of it. I ordered the enchiladas with carne asada and their house mole. If you're expecting one of those intensely complex moles with enough ingredients to fill a pantry, this isn't that. Adelitas' version is comforting, approachable, and deeply homey. It tastes less like a culinary experiment and more like something your abuela has been making for decades. The carne asada was tender, the rice and beans were exactly what they should be, and every bite reminded me why comfort food never goes out of style. Before leaving, I made the smartest decision of the evening. Tres leches to go. I devoured it later at home while Netflix asked if I was still watching. The cake somehow manages to be light while completely satisfying. Don't skip it. Better yet, don't pretend you're saving it for tomorrow. Adelitas isn't trying to impress you. It's trying to feed you well, welcome you warmly, and send you home happier than when you arrived. Whether your abuela was Mexican...or Greek...you'll understand exactly what they're serving here.

They changed the menu. A lot. No salad with shrimp. 2. For many months, no kids nachos and it was too much to ask for them to melt cheese on chips. Luckily for my daughters sake, they brought those back 3. Weird, non Mexican salads like roasted beet and iceberg wedge 4. Vegetarian items left are mostly just cheese based. Very disappointing! And tonight was the kicker: The kids wanted the rio for Mother's Day but it was a long day and I knew we couldn't go out. Their website stresses that you can order online. I went through the whole order It was very organized Until I tried to pay. It kept saying the amounts had changed and I needed to change a selection but it wouldn't tell me which item and no amount of changing it worked. So I called. I was hung up on after waiting for 5 min I called back and waited longer She took my order but it was tough to get the girl to understand what we wanted. We SLOWLY went through each item, and every item was different than online (e.g. 3 tortillas per order instead of an order of a dozen online). I kept going. We get through my list of things I had ordered. It took 7 min to order for not-so-big family. Then, she repeats the order back to me. She left out HALF of the items we had just gone through! But the total? More than the full order online. I was done! I cancelled my order. I was already hesitant that we would t get the right items since it was so hard to get her to understand. But the higher price with half of the items and less amounts for each one? No thanks! I probably can't get away with avoiding the rip bc my kids still love it, but we used to embrace it and now we look for reasons we can't go. We are actively searching for a replacement that offers good items for the whole family

So, we looked for another. We found two. One was way South in Greenwood Village. We tried it, and it was okay, but not the same. The other one was this one in Westminster. So, we drove up there. We liked it. We like it better than we liked the one that used to be in Lakewood. I've always liked the flavors of Mexican food, but I was never really too hot on what is known as "Tex Mex," until Chuy's. I like the restaurant, I like the decor, and I have come to like the food. I admit I always get the same thing because I am vegetarian, and it is difficult to eat vegetarian in a Mexican restaurant. This place KNOCKS IT OUT OF THE PARK serving beans, and rice that are VEGAN! No lard, no animal products, but all the taste, texture, and loveliness of regular Mexican. Even the corn tortillas are vegetarian. The flour tortillas are not, but they are made FRESH on site. I have found that I have come to love their "Big as yo face" burritos smothered in the Ranchero Sauce. The Ranchero Sauce is a milder sauce, but I like the flavor, and I just bring some of my own Ghost Pepper Powder to sprinkle on, and perk it up to standards! I love that I can eat Mexican rice and beans again and not worry about lard, or chicken broth, but with the SAME EXCELLENT flavor. Chuy's has become the only burrito I actually crave. THANK YOU CHUY'S! By the way, I thought the Lakewood location, (now closed), was pretty good. The Greenwood Village wasn't quite as good. The Westminster location, however, is the best of them all. It's a bit of a drive for me, but I love the food, I love the service, and I love the staff. By the way, their salsa that they serve with their chips is pretty darn good, too. It's spicy, but not too spicy, and I think most people will like it. They also serve a chipotle ranch sauce with the chips that has grown on me. I LIKE THIS PLACE! They also have a reward program where you can get free food, and who doesn't love that?
