First, the chips are great and just the way I like them - thin and light and perfectly salted. The green chili queso was also excellent. I had the Caribbean Jerk chicken taco and the green chili pork taco. The jerk one was great and the pork one I didn't like much. By son had a plain grilled chicken taco and he liked it fine. Service was quick. read more

Hey now, this was a pretty good call! I was out shopping for Christmas presents and saw this place called Torchy's Tacos. It's not Tuesday, but any day is a Taco day in my book so since I was here in Polaris I thought I would check it out. Food - it was good, but messy. Everything was so fresh! I tried two of the "Damn Good Tacos" and I see why they call them that. I had the: Republican - with grilled Jalapeno cheddar sausage, shredded cheese & pico de gallo on a flour tortilla. It was served with Poblano Sauce which I just dumped right in there. This was my favorite taco of the two and it had some heat. Tipsy Chick - a yummy marinated and grilled chicken, on a bed of spinach, with grilled corn, green chiles & cheddar cheese with chipotle sauce on a flour tortilla. This one was served with a side of bacon bourbon marmalade which again wasn't sure what to do with so I just put directly on the taco as well. It was good. Ambience - Torchy's is like a mix between a fast-ish/sit down specialty taco joint with a bar. Feels like fast food but sure doesn't taste like it. Limited seating on the inside. Service - ordering at the counter is pretty quick. I was greeted and the front counter employee was super nice and offered some recommendations. Food didn't take too long to make and they brought it right out to the table. Price - It was a little over $15 after tax and before tip for two tacos and a cup of water. It was a good lunch and happy I checked it out. Definitely want to come back to try a couple more menu items. Next on my list is a Trashy Trailer Park and a Democrat. I didn't know what to expect when I walked into this place. I love me some fast food tacos, but I also love me some sit-down quality tacos as well. I guess I expected something closer to fast food tacos, based on the look of the building and the very little I knew. I would call this more fast casual if I have to categorize it for simplicity's sake. Walk to the counter, read off of the menu, make your order with the cashier, and pay before you sit down. Easy Peasy. Then wait a few minutes and while you're sitting, they bring your order to you. But somethign about this place feels a little higher quality than fast food. I am not sure if it's the full bar as the central hub of the dining area or the fact that the tacos appear and taste higher quality than fast food. But I'd return here again. I appreciate the handful of vegetarian options. I like the queso better at other similar restaurants, but I like that Torchy's queso is unique in that I've never had one quite like it. And it's pretty good. I imagine I'll stop here occasionally (or the new one on Hamilton Rd.) for a couple of tacos and possibly even a beer or margarita to wash it down. I didn't have a drink nor sit at the bar on this occasion, but that's probably my next stop here. read more

I really liked this place because it's not low quality fast food, but it's not expensive fine dining. It's the place you go when you want something casual and can fill up on good food. I have to start off by mentioning the hillbilly queso. You must order this! It has chorizo and when everything is mixed together, it's delicious! We smashed a basket of chips with just half an order of queso. The chips were pretty salty, but every basket varies. I also ordered the Tipsy Chick and Mr. Orange tacos. Both were loaded! I think two tacos would fill up most people. The Mr. Orange taco was probably my favorite. The black beans and corn went so well with the salmon. Plus, I think corn tortillas are better. But the Tipsy Chick did not disappoint! I got my fill of cheddar cheese! We finished our meal off with Lil' Nookies, which are fried chocolate chip cookie dough balls. I feel like I shouldn't need to review that item. It's pretty obvious that they're delicious! The cherries were a nice touch too. We sat at the bar and our waitress was new. She was learning how to make drinks, so it was fun interacting with her. She struggled with my credit card for a while when it came time to pay, so she gave us the Lil' Nookies for free! We didn't care one bit about how long she was taking, but that was very kind of her to do. We had a great time here and will be coming back with friends! read more

I prefer the Sawmill location better. The food was not as fresh tasting at the Polaris location. My tacos were on the cooler side and both just tasted the same. The service was good. The food came out fast. It was busy at the time but there was plenty of seating available. They have a bar, regular tables, and outdoor seating. read more

I've been to Torchy's in Austin, and it was pretty good. So I was glad to see it here. And it has lots and lots of hype. Finally was nearby with some time, so I grabbed some. I ordered online: the street corn; a secret menu item- green chile pork missionary style taco; and the Cross Roads taco, which has brisket. I arrived five minutes before my scheduled time, and they brought the food right out. When I went to eat two minutes later in the car, it was cold. They had probably prepared it right when I ordered it, which is fine, except that I was eating it in the car, and not taking it home to microwave. But whatever. I just ate the crossroads in the car. The brisket was tender and flavorful, and finely shredded. Avocado, pickled jalapeños, a few other things, on a somewhat dry, flour tortilla. Later I heated up the rest in the microwave and: good not great. The pork taco again had good meat, though not as flavorful as the brisket and a bit dryer. Again on a dry tortilla, this time corn (your choice.) The street corn was pretty good, but then I've never had bad street corn. Prices are pretty high for the volume of food you get, and the quality. Two fairly small tacos, and a small container of street corn, for 20 bucks. I mean, nowadays, that's pretty normal, but a little more food would've been nice. And with better tacos in town, and many better food choices right nearby- heck, Chile Verde right across the street- next time I'll pass. read more

Great food! Alittle pricey but definitely good. Probably shouldn't have gotten the margaritas lol. Per recommendations get the avocado green Chile queso. It was so spicy in places but perfectly balanced with the salty tortillas. I loved the mofaux taco. Faux meat, Diablo sauce, avocado, peppers and other goodies I can't recall. It was stuffed to the edges. I had to take my fried avocado taco home... it was too much food. Not a bad thing.... read more

While in Columbus OH, I had a craving for tacos... One thing to note: there are many restaurants that highlight their taco variations in Columbus, though, I haven't noticed many (if any) authentic Mexican restaurants. So this is where we landed..... I had the Democrat Taco with onion, contija cheese, cilantro, side of sour cream and salsa. The Barbacoa was a lil oily and lacked flavor; though the taco was loaded with a good amount of meat/barbacoa. Not much else to say. One and done, probably won't return. *No pic taken, the presentation wasn't exactly appealing* read more

@torchystacos at Polaris in Columbus is now open!!! We visit a Torchy's anytime we are in Texas so we are so excited to have one just under 2 hours away from Cincy! Their green Chile queso and fried avocado taco are our favorites They've recently added a beyond meat option and their seasonal 'Raj' would be so tasty with a veg substitute! While we felt the portion sizes were smaller than what we've had in Texas, the flavor is still fire. also, if you're looking to stock up on their delicious Diablo hot sauce, they are currently not selling the bottles in store but you can purchase 4oz or 8oz portions to take out! Conveniently located near Polaris mall, tons of parking available. read more

First visit for a late lunch (3:00) on a Saturday. We weren't sure if there was a bar, and sure enough, there is. Our bartender was great, friendly, and knew the menu. On weekends, they have a selection of 4 cocktails for $4.25 each: Sangria, Bloody Mary, Mimosa, & Tequila Sunrise. I chose the Tequila Sunrise. I was happy they use paper straws vs. plastic. Their regular happy hour is Mon-Fri 3-6pm. The margaritas and cocktails are $2 off, and wine/draft & bottled beer are $1.50 off. They offer breakfast tacos, so the mimosa would be a perfect brunch drink. The tacos are in the $4-6 range and we were told most people order 2, so they are fairly large. I had the Mr. Orange, which was the blackened salmon, and the Fried Avocado, with a side of the street corn. The salmon was very good and I would order again. The avocado was disappointing: one fried avocado ball, with a lot of refried beans and too much shredded cheese. The street corn was good, but then I thought it had more spice than I like, so my guy finished it. He had 2 beef fajita tacos and said they were ok. Bottom line is my expectations were too high because it is a fast food joint, but at the same time, our bar experience was good. We liked the cocktails we had, and there are some tacos on the menu I would try next time. read more

Today was my second visit to Torchy Tacos. On my first visit there was a long wait for my order. My friends received there order long before I received my food, though I ordered before they arrived. The manager gave me some complimentary coupons as an apology. I used those coupons on today's order. On this visit I went with the carryout option. I grabbed three tacos with beef barbacoa and avocado (The Democrat). I received a complimentary beverage while I waited for my order. The food was ready in a short amount of time. The tacos were pretty good, with fresh ingredients and good flavors. The price for each taco was a bit high. Overall I am mixed on my opinion of Torchy Tacos. read more

Good place for sure!!! Yummy food, fast service and plenty of seating for a big or small group. Their corn side was excellent and the chicken fajita taco was huge! Some of their other tacos aren't as big, so that one is a great deal! The tomatillo salsa was spicy but not too spicy, just enough heat and more than enough salsa for the generous amount of chips they give you. I didn't drink this time, but they have a full bar which is also very nice. Kid friendly...everyone friendly! Recommend and will be back! read more

Fast casual Tex-Amex that hits the spot! Stopped in on a Friday night for a quick dinner and it was delicious! We have been several times and it's consistently good food and good service. We got queso to share (it's spicy for me but I have low spice tolerance), and I got two kids chicken quesadillas (not on the normal menu) that were portion wise about 1.5 normal tacos. It was delicious and I'd highly recommend (and love if they added an adult sized item). I've also had their chicken fajita taco and it is a solid choice too! My group also loved the margaritas and the tipsy chick taco was a favorite! read more

First time trying this place. Torchy's is like a fast service dine in restaurant. You order out front and they meet you at your table with the food. Tacos are not traditional Mexican tacos. They have cool spins to them and they are delicious. The accompanying sauces were great. I also loved the queso. It comes with a dollop of guacamole. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Vibe is chill there's a bar of you are interested in drinks and they can serve you there. read more

After 9pm there's not many food choices in Polaris. We decided to try Torchy's. Just up the street from where I live, the place was pretty busy. Parking was good and the place has a nice vibe. We sat at the bar which seats about 10 and has 3 large TVs. Our bartender was super attentive and friendly, and was honest about what to try since it was our first time there. We started with 2 Rocks Margaritas which packed a nice punch but had a balanced flavor. The crushed ice made it a little hard to sip thru the paper straw. Next we ordered the Queso topped with cilantro, avocado, cojita cheese and Diablo sauce. Really good queso! I would probably skip the Diablo sauce next time, because it added a lasting heat. I ordered the Crossroads and the Trailer Park. The Crossroads had plenty of smoked brisket and the avocado added that cool creaminess. The Trailer Park has fried chicken, pico, cheese, lettuce and was more of a basic taco. I added the Bacon Bourbon marmalade which completely took it up several flavor notches. I highly recommend it! My girl got the Tipsy Chick which was grilled chicken with spinach, grilled corn, cheddar cheese and that Bacon Bourbon marmalade. She loved it! I will probably get it next time.. Drinks and food came to $46 and change plus tip. Honestly it was a great experience for a first time stop and we will definitely be back. I would rate the food and drinks on par with Local Cantina and way above Condados (just my opinion). Great late night food spot!! read more

I forgot to take pics - we were that hungry! I was surprised to find it's like a bar/restaurant inside - was not expecting that. Kind of a chaotic menu on the wall with crazy names for everything but we figured it out. I thought it would be more basic/traditional tacos but they have a very wild mix of flavors. LOVED my Tipsy Chick taco - that Bacon bourbon marmalade was *chef's kiss* Hubby liked his Trailer Park taco, recommended by the staff, but overall it wasn't his jam. He prefers a more traditional taco. I'm not quite sure how to characterize this place. It's not as cute or hip as Condado. It's like a cross between a somewhat fancy taco joint and a Buckeye themed sports bar? It didn't quite work for me. Maybe I'll get takeout next time! read more

My new favorite taco spot is Torchy's! I had the Reefer Taco and the Tipsy Chick taco and they both were phenomenal. The Tipsy Chick taco stole the show though! Bacon on tacos is an automatic WIN!!! Be Thankful Columbus!! Polaris ares is lucky enough to have Ohio's first location for Torchy's!!!!!!!!!!! We were shopping in the area, drove by and saw an old Texas Favorite just outside of Costo and Carfagna's. We had no doubts we were stopping and stopped in for lunch. To our surprise it was Torchy's soft opening day - PURE LUCK BUT AWESOME!!! Team was cranking on all cylinders, with great helping staff from Austin and San Antonio. We ordered a tacos, sat down at the bar (full service) and started by enjoying their amazing Queso and Chips (a must have for first time and returning visitors). Learned that you can order food and drinks from the full service bar - hint for next time. Tacos - we ordered the Wrangler (Brisket-Breakfast taco); a Bacon-Egg & Cheese Taco; then a favorite from when we visit Texas - A "Trashy" Trailerpark Taco (Fried Chicken-Chiles-pico and cheese. Trashy is Torchy's way of taking off the lettuce and covering it with Queso! I would also recommend their Democrat and Mr. Orange Tacos too. Grab a soda, adult drink and just chill out. They have drive through, outdoor patio, and fast service. People were so friendly today, we can't wait to go back. Thanks for coming to Columbus. read more

After driving by this place several times on the way to CostCo I finally decided to stop and grab some tacos and chips and guac. It's kind of a weird experience, walking in, and around a divider to order. Fortunately the lady behind the register was helpful in making suggestions, talking about what's popular, and making it easy to identify a couple tacos to consume. You're handed a pager, you find a seat. Simple. There's a stretch of a bar, a bit of seating inside (even if the layout is weird) and a patio. Can't really ask for much more in Polaris. The queso and chips were good - the cotilla cheese was a nice addition with the green onions (whatever - I like my queso with stuff in/on it!) The tacos were tasty, not too messy. I wasn't overly impressed with the breakfast taco (it felt lazy) but the trash taco was different and tasty. I know, it's an Austin institution, but I think it suffers from hype - it's good, but not amazing. I'd come back again, and I would recommend anyone that likes YT people tacos to check it out. They're just different enough from Condados or Local Cantina that they can hold their own and survive alongside. read more

Decided to stop in here during our day trip and we are so glad we did! We were the first customers but shortly after we arrived people started trickling in for lunch. You place your order at the front desk and pay before you select a seat. We got some adult beverages; Torchys Paloma and Tito's Cherry Limeade. The drinks didn't come out until after our food but the bartender delivered them to us and apologized that she had not seen the ticket for our drinks. She seemed very genuine and friendly. Our food didn't take long to come to us so the drinks weren't a huge deal anyway. I loved the Torchys Paloma--it was crisp and cold and left a heat in the back of my throat! Hubby enjoyed his cherry limeade as well. My Baja shrimp had a nice presentation--when I picked it up I realized just how full that little sucker was--definitely enough fillings for two tortillas! I also kind of wished they double corn tortilla'd it but oh well. The pickled onions and jalapeño was soooo good! Really this taco was just absolutely delicious and something I would come back for. Hubby really enjoyed his Ranch Hand taco--his only complaint was there was A LOT of egg for one taco. The rest of the toppings were good for him. His chorizo taco was as not a winner though--this surprised me because he LOVES chorizo. He said the chorizo was almost like a "steak" and it also had too much egg on it. Hubby raved about the churros though. It came with a caramel dipping sauce too. We will definitely stop in again! read more

I ordered the churros and lil nookies to go. After waiting for what seemed like forever, I asked the manager if my food was coming and his response was: "it hasn't even been 10 minutes yet. Fortunately, there was a nice worker (wearing glasses) who offered to check on my food. After waiting for a total of 20 mins, I finally got my order... the lil nookies were not warm (seemed like they were sitting on the counter for a bit) and the churros were burnt. It is obvious whoever was preparing the churros left them cooking to the point they were charred. My wife looked at them and asked me if I ordered chocolate churros instead of the regular ones. I told her they do not have chocolate churros Anyway, I called as soon as we got home but no one was picking up the phone... needless to say we were very disappointed read more

It was just ok. Went in on a week night and it was kind of dead inside. There wasn't much that was memorable about the experience. We started the meal the Green Chile Queso. While the Queso was good, the chips might have been the saltiest chips I've ever had. They were essentially not edible. I had 2 tacos - the Tipsy Chick and Brushfire. These were good tacos, but again nothing especially memorable. Are you sensing a theme here? Well I'll continue... the service again wasn't *memorable*. We ended up ordering the Queso dip, Baja shrimp, the Brushfire, the Crossroads, the Democrat, the kids' chicken taco, and the kids' steak taco. The lady being the counter was SUPER kind, efficient and proactive- checking on peoples orders, being personable, etc. the food however was very disappointing. Very unauthentic, not much flavor, plain, small portions, overpriced for what it is. The shrimp taco was super rubbery, the chicken taco was dry and lacked flavor, the kids chicken quesadilla was fine but the chicken wasn't melted into the cheese so it all fell out and made it hard to eat. Lots of seating. I went during lunch and had a long wait, maybe 20-30 minutes for a carry out. I won't be going back. read more

I probably won't stop back. It wasn't very busy, but the drink station was filthy. I wondered if I'd get sick from drinking something from there. I know they're supposed to clean the nozzles, but the whole counter was just gross. I ate outside and the hole where you put your trash was full. I had to really shove it in there, and there were tons of old queso bowls and margarita glasses everywhere. As for the food, I order 3 different tacos. One chicken, one brisket, and one fried avocado. It came pretty quickly which is never a bad thing. The brisket was decent, and the avocado was an nice combo. Chicken was meh. Pretty messy but that's ok. You can't expect tacos not to be, but I just felt like they were more messy than other places. I agree with others, the prices are a little high for the quality you get. I spent about $17 for just the 3 tacos. I got a water but if I got a drink I would have been around $20 for all. I don't mind spending that much, but I felt like it was something a child would have made if they had some Tyson's chicken, some sauce, cheese and tortillas laying around. Food wasn't bad, but nothing with too much flavor. I'd rather go to chipotle and spend the $8.50 for 3 tacos that taste better. read more

So with the high reviews I had to try this place today! Very busy--like waaaaay too many people is a small space busy. But they seemed to be fully staffed with workers all over the place. Not super clean. It is similar to a fast causal where you stand in line, order at the counter with a server and then sit down. They bring your food out and I will say it was surprisingly fast. The queso was excellent. We got it with no Diablo, and the the chips were equally as good. The tacos were a bit of a disappointment for us. I really loved my fried shrimp taco. The batter they fried the shrimp in was excellent and I liked the sauces. I was with a group of 5 and no one else really liked their tacos. Others ordered: chicken fajita taco, beef fajita taco, grilled shrimp and the trailer park taco. Everyone in my party said they wouldn't return. When I asked for a box, the girl said there is foil up by the drink station. Wasn't impressed or helped by that response but all of my other encounters with staff were positive. When we ran out of chips but still had queso, they replaced the chips for no charge. Likely won't be back, unless I want queso! read more

A friend in Austin always recommends this place, so I was excited to be able to try it here. Maybe my expectations were too high because of that, but this was a really disappointing Taco Monday. I ordered online, and as soon as I mentioned that at the register, the two people working seemed to lose all interest in customer service. One did go to the kitchen to check on my order, but then told me nothing about it, so I just stood around for 10 minutes not knowing what was happening. Eventually she came back from stocking the soda machine and was very nice about giving me my drink and getting the food when it was ready, but it was really weird. The tacos themselves were OK? The basic breakfast taco was fine, although the only seasoning seemed to be the sauce you get with it, and the brisket breakfast taco was OK. The steak breakfast taco was incredibly greasy and the meat was very tough, so I didn't even finish that one. With all three tacos, the foil was stuck to most of the cheese, so I could either scrape it off with my teeth or throw away a good third of my toppings. Overall, this was not an experience I care to repeat. read more

On my first visit I wasn't super impressed. I think the vibes for this place just aren't what I prefer for a Mexican or taco place. Gave me more like sports bar vibes. I walked in during lunch and it's super busy. I started to wait in line but then was told I could sit at the bar and order also so that's what I did. There was some god awful humming noise coming from one of the machines at the bar I think, like for the frozen drinks maybe? Deff distracting. I was thankful to find out I could order a half size queso even tho it wasn't on the menu. I like to try queso's at every place I go, and this one had a lot going on, a bit too much for me. I could have done without the large pieces of leafy greens. There was also some avocado/guac which was appreciated because this was kinda spicy! My nose was deff running by the end. Chips reminded me of Moe's. I got one taco, the trailer trash per bartender recommendation. This was your pretty basic white person taco with fried chicken on a flour tortilla. I was hoping it would be similar to Taco Bell's Cantina Crispy Chicken tacos but not really. It was fine, larger than expected, and then I noticed a little sauce in a cup which added a nice touch of flavor. The sauce reminded me of the Chuy's white creamy jalapeño sauce but not spicy. Deff brought it all together. read more

Tried this place for the first time it is an average restaurant. The price they charge per taco is a lot compared to the quality and quantity. The shrimp in the baja shrimp taco and the chicken in the trailer park tacos were too fried and made the taco extremely dry. The mr orange taco had blackened salom which was decent. Of all the three taco i felt Mr Orange was little better. Also ordered their Diablo sauce on the side which wasn't spicy as expected. After rave reviews from others because social media is never wrong (sarcasm), we decided to give Torchy's Taco a try for dinner. Unfortunately, we came away less than impressed. The restaurant has a casual vibe, and our food arrived quickly after we ordered. The tacos, while having cool names, were too salty and otherwise just bland. We ordered the Baja shrimp, the Brushfire, the Crossroads, the Democrat, the kids' chicken taco, and the kids' steak taco, and while they were all very filling, they just lacked much flavor aside from the over-salty proteins. We did like the queso more than the tacos, but overall, I do not see myself going back here. read more
